Incall Recording - Touch 3G General

I found a cab file on this forum enable call recording on HTC....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=515446
I installed but nothing happen, any bros can using it well on Jade/Touch 3G?

Did you soft-reseted your phone after?
You might try installing a audio recording software like vito audio notes in your phone, it has the option to record the calls.
Without any registry changes I can hear perfectly my voice, the voice of the caller can be heard only if it's quiet around you, if it's a noisy place you will record the noise too and it's hard to understand anything from the recording.
On the Rhodium thread is the following tweak available, it might work on jade too:
To enable 2 way recording just change:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]"VocRecPath"=dword:00000002
and you'll be able to record with any software.
If you want to use WM6 native recording (WAW only, on \my documents\notes, manual activation: during a call hit "record" on call menu) create:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\AudioRecording]"Enabled"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Voice]"EnableCallRecordMenuItem"=dword:00000001"AllowInCallRecording"=dword:00000001
Don't forget to turn off (and on again ) the device after you modify/create the keys.

In - Call Recording

Hello everyone - Can someone who has an HD test out the incall recording software and perhaps post an audio file.
This is a key feature that I'm looking for as my nokia currently has this feature.
And no, it's necessary for my career, i'm not a pervert who goes around recording conversations for kicks
Discussed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442220
Lucas - thanks for the link to hte other thread...
however, what i'm trying to establish is whether the HD allows for in call recording without the use of speakerphone.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry, thought this was clear from my other posts - no possible on HTC devices.
sorry, but i can't agree with that opionion. Some time ago i've got Asus P750 and it was possible to record conversations without turning on speakerphone.
Ok, edited my post, selected non-HTC devices supported it in the past, but no current HTC ones. End of story.

Surur is correct - Like hte HTC Advantage, the hardware is slightly different on the touch HD allowing software access to both earpiece and outgoing mic audio. Therefore, one can record conversations without hte use of the speakerphone.
I just need to establish what the quality is like of the recording and what featrues are built into the software.
someone who has the device please assist! thanks in advance.

I purchased the latest Resco Audio Recorder and use it on my Eten x500. It has a feature which records all your calls. No beeps etc... And you can customize it so that you can use different audio formats and sound quality. It works fantastic!
Please, please somebody test this on HTC Touch HD
I'll test it tommorow. My HD is going to me
I'm also interested in calls recording.

Tried audionotes. Failed. Other party is not recorded.
so what exactly then does the in call recording feature do? Anyone have any more insight into this issue?
Now that investor Mark Cuban has a major insider trading case in the U.S. centered around a phone conversation, maybe a call recording software for WinMobile and other systems would come in handy. This one records speaker output and your input - speaker output is ok but not great - but hey, sometimes you might wish you had at least a audible recording - a wav file that could be enhanced later. Works on HD. http://dontknowme.at/http://www.nch.com.au/trx/index.html

It is a software that automatically fires up itself whenever a call is connected, and it records your phone conversation, so that you don't need to take down notes on a piece of paper. It creats audio files that you can go back to listen to, and serves as a record or proof of your conversation with the other party.
Well, at least there is the last resort of turning on the speaker phone. Audio Note will surely work if you do that.
But I hope we can find something that can record when the embedded earpiece is used.
Should clarify that with the Trx offering other party is audible without turning on the speaker.
Does anybody have a program "In Call Recording" in HD? Look at http://www.theunwired.net/?item=videoview-hands-on-with-the-htc-touch-hd-windows-mobile-smartphone time 11:50, ICR icon. Thank you.
just letting you know that I use Audio Notes Touch for this (on my Omnia) - works superbly
- no need to be on speakerphone mode
- can record calls automtically even when Audio Notes Touch is not open
- AVLS
- can be used as a notetaker/sound-recorded

2 Way Recording on Iolite (free!)

I've been searching for this feature a while ago and didn't find any free, working solution and even those payed ones seemed to be far from perfect. Today, I did the search again and realised that a very nice solution have shown up few months ago.
Seems to be working fine with Iolite (default ROM), even the version with "Record" option in call menu. Looks like it is also quite clean way as the main part is just a registry edit.
So, if you don't know it yet, here are links:
[*] 2 Side Voice Recording on Kaiser **WORKS**
Call recording: official list of supported models & ROM versions
Article that led me to the solution back on xda-dev - thanks Google
Btw, there might be some legal (and ethical) issues with the call recording. E.g. in my country, recorded party has to be informed about this. Still, it can be very helpful when taking notes would be too slow or dagerous (when driving...).
The Auto Call Recorder works perfectly, more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=528507
Nice finding, thanks. Could be useful.

2 way call recording

Has anyone managed to record calls on Trinity (3600, not 3600i) with the other party being loud and clear? If yes, could you please tell me:
1. Which ROM you have?
2. Which tweak you used: 2 way recoring (cab or registry setting) and/or IRC?
3. Which program you use to record call: Vito, Resco, PVR, etc?
Thank you!

In Call Recording Activated in the Reg.

Hi, all. Last night I came across a couple of reg setting's that added an extra option when making a phone call.
Here is the main key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE\EnableICR
Change value from 0 to 1.
Also change to the following:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Voice]
"AllowInCallRecording"=dword:00000001
"EnableCallRecodMenuItem"=dword:00000001
Reboot phone.
Then make a Phone call then press right softkey (Menu) and Record appears as an option. Press it and the phone plays a sound (indicating beginning of recording) and phone returns to normal in call screen. When call is hung up or you press stop recording in the menu. Another sound plays. Go to notes under My Documents on Phone and there is a time and date stamped audio file.
I have not fully gone there with this yet as I'm at work (long weekend/ 8am sat till 6pm Mon) But will let you know of any progress as and if I get any.
Bye for now.
Phil
Note
Sorry for basic path error, I'm working right now and am just popping in from time to time. Sorry once again.
Diigibio,
I believe the other registry keys to be modified may be the following:
[HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"VocRecPath"=dword:00000002
[HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"RingingAdressId"=dword:00000000
[HKLM\System\AudioRecording]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Voice]
"AllowInCallRecording"=dword:00000001
"EnableCallRecodMenuItem"=dword:00000001
Nonetheless, despite these modifications, it appears that the recording is not totally perfect with some software, such as Vito Audio Notes Touch (the voice of the callee is too low)
...
Thanks for posting this. Needs to get added to the hints and tips sticky.
The key is actually at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE\EnableICR on my HD2
Cheers,
tried it on a German stock 1.43 ROM, RECORD option does not appear in the menu even after soft reset.
And BTW, the correct path would be:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE\EnableICR
Best regards
GZ
Graf,
Try this cab.:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493118
It works on my HD2.
Also it only appears in the menu once a call had been started. This id built in to rom without external programlike vito or Resco recorders. When I'm able to get my laptop out, I'll post a screenie.

I installed "2_Way_Plus_InCall_Recording cab" and it still didn't work on mine. It only records the incoming voice. Should i have tried "2_Way_Recording" cab instead ?
I tried ACR, Resco, Vito. Always the same bug :\
I've got the official ROM.

Did you also make the changes in the registry as mentioned above?
Normally during a phone call you can go into the menu and check 'recording'.

No i haven't, but i will. Can you confirm me i took the right CAB ? There are two.
Do these reg tweaks apply onlu for the built-in Windows Mobile recording option ? I'm looking for one which does the job automaticaly (not the case of this one apparently). So i wish to use Resco.
I remember this reg tweak back with the Blackstone. I tried it on the HD2 but the sound quality is very low and poor. Is there anything else that can be done to improve it? Once all is good I will add to hints and tips thread.

tboy, thanks.
That would be very helpful.
The above registry tweaks do work, and phone conversations can be recorded. The only thing we shall improve is the low sound quality.
There must be a registry for the volume level too.
So. . .
I have done this tweak on my device,
with all the additional info and Reg Changes also.
The recording of my voice is crisp and clear, while the recording of the other person is very weak (low volume) and noisy.
I think I read on another thread that someone else encountered a similar problem.
So my question is - is there anything else I should do to improve the recording quality of the other person ?
Is there anyone else still having the same problem ?
Thanks.
I too have done the various reg edits and although it seems to work (there is a record option when making a call, a sound plays and a file is generated) the output file doesn't contain either outgoing or incoming sound!
I had to create the key "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Voice" since it didn't exist, I wonder if this has any bearing on the matter?
I also initiated recording before I was connected to the other end, maybe that's my problem.
I will try only activating record once I'm connected and I will also give that cab a whirl, and report back
il be keeping an eye on this one,
Let us know if it works, and on both sides !
Cheers.

Any news about that?
Steps I took
Hey all,
I though I'd give this a shot. I changed the Main key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE\EnableICR from 0 to 1.
However I didn't have the folder/key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Voice So I created it!
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Voice
"AllowInCallRecording"=dword:00000001
"EnableCallRecodMenuItem"=dword:00000001
It all seems to work, the menu option appears and I get the sound when recording starts, however it's very quiet.
One way around this is to put the phone on load speak. Then the recording is clear.
Hope this helps.
S
Does it work if you only edit EnableICR 0 to 1 or do you have to create Voice folder and these 2 reg keys, for which we are not sure if are working because we dont alerady have them originally?

Recording Phone Calls

I remember a thread several months ago in which we discussed the best software for recording conversations, and how this was very difficult on WM, and which resulted in my using VITO "AudioNotes". However, I have still always had a great volume discrepancy between my own voice and that of the caller. I'm wondering if there has been any change since that discussion; can anyone recommend better software now recording calls in better quality? The major advantage of AudioNotes is that it records all phone calls automatically, unobtrusively and with no audible Beeps. But can anyone now recommend anything better?

You dont need any third party software to do so, just use the native WM recording feature. Make the following changes to your registry & U'll find the recording button in the menu during your voice calls.
To enable 2 way recording just change:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"VocRecPath"=dword:00000002
If you want to use WM6 native recording (WAW only, on \my documents\notes, manual activation: during a call hit "record" on call menu) create:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\AudioRecording]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Voice]
"EnableCallRecordMenuItem"=dword:00000001
"AllowInCallRecording"=dword:00000001

Thanks very much guys. Sexkgp, is there a way of setting up your registry version so that all calls are recorded automatically without the need for any user intervention?
Actually no wories; I've installed ACR and I do concur, it's perfect!
acr hands down the best!
i've had acr on both my tmo tp2 and my old tmo wing. its works flawlessly, and you don't even know it their. but when you need to recall the converstion, just go to what ever file you store your recording in (sd/device) and there is every phone call you ever made; if you never delete them.
doesnt take up any room on ram, it is always hidin, and ALWAYS WORKS. lot of opions included.
I do agree, except for "lot of opions included". The options are actually rather minimal, which is a shame, but otherwise no complaints.
I think I have read about it in one of the forums, but cant recollect the post, search for it & u'll find it..

Speaking personally my leval of ability favours software over reg-tweaking, and I must say that having used Auto Call Record for a few weeks now, other than that it overloads a little (if only there was a way to lower its record gain?) it is indeed excellent and reliable.
