Hello,
I need your help with the following problem:
I have been using my Jasjar for 5 days now and I have a problem with the battery.
As soon as it gets to 35-40% battery power the unit switches off without any notice.
The only way I can turn it on again if I put it on a charger, and than it turns on again like after a soft reset.
I installed the latest ROM from the clubimate but none 3rd party applications.
Please let me know what can be this problem.
Thanks,
Zsolt
same problem here
Hi Ronaldovic,
Have you tried with another battery or just the original?
I was advised to change the original battery as that might be faulty but I couldn't get a new one yet.
Zsolt
For the O2 XDA Exec the battery has a 6 month warranty. You should check the situation with the JJ
battery issues..
I had similar issue and also where on switch on the screen light goes off and back on. This seems to be linked to battery chargin "top-ups" therefore sometimes the supply from the battery is not continously smooth. Try fully draining your battery and charging fully
I have same problem with my Exec. Any solution ??
I buy new battery but...when it gets to 25%, still switch off. So I dont think it's error of battery, may be it's bug of ROM for Exec???

1 month ago I have same problem. I think is not battery.
I make upgrade by all the ROM (JAS JAR, QTEQ, MDA PRO ecc.) but the problem I have not resolution, and 2 week ago my pda (MDA PRO T-Mobile) go in htc warranty.
Sorry for my bad english.
I have also noticed this problem a few days back. My Jasjar switches itself Off when the battery goes down to 22%.
I never used to have this problem when my Jasjar was with the original factory installed ROM version which was 1.13.53 WWE, Radio 1.03, ExtRom 1.13.137 WWE. When this ROM was installed I used to get the first low battery alarm at 20% and when the battery went down to 10% the screen would dim out and the SD card would deactivate, but still the unit would not shut itself out.
I installed the updated ROM when it became available in March which is 1.30.76, Radio 1.09.00 and ExtRom 1.30.164 WWE.
I am not too sure if the problem is linked with this ROM as I usually never allow my battery to run that low. However a few days back when I forgot to charge my battery I noticed this problem. I repeated this deliberately a number of times and each time the Jasjar shuts itself off exactly at 22%.
Just wondering if there are any solutions yet.
Regards
Same here, device just dies @ 26%. Was going to buy a new battery, but that might not resolve it?? *sigh*
RE
This battery issue has been discussed in two other similar threads.
In my case I just changed the default battery to a OEM one and everything works fine
Isn't the default battery an OEM battery? I'm tempted to buy one of the 1750 mAh batteries off of ebay (original JasJar battery is 1650 mAh) - is that a bad idea?
Try overnight charging of the battery for one or two days..this will solve yr problems...
Hi,
hard reset to your device, don't forget to get backup contacts, sms and data.
battery issue
I've had similar issues. Screen goes blank when battery low, plug in to charger and all is ok. What I've found is sometimes, not always, the battery screen brightness has gone to 0, but on-mains is set for full brightness. I never changed it, so maybe the device is trying to save power itself.
MNB.
Same here. My Jasjar dies sometimes when the battery is on 60%, 50%, 30%, 20%. etc. If I use the internet or camera or something then it will go dead, but not everytime.
Sometimes I can use anything and it will last till about 10% when the SD Card disables, then I charge it.
Don't know what to do. I don't want to buy a new battery if I'm not sure that is the problem.
Yes the same on my O2 Exec. Crashes at around 32% no matter what. Only remedy is to put it on charging again.
This started after I upgraded to the lastest O2 Rom; prior to that there was no problem whatsoever and I could go down to single digit battery percentages without any issue.
Is it the new ROM? Is there any work around to this malady?
Thanks to all who reply, in advance.
Cheers.

So can we say that downgrading does not fix it, or removing certain software combinations?
has anyone actually proved that replacing the battery works or not?
With the issue this widespread (and across carriers) has anyone tried to contact HTC about this? I still have my doubts that this is ROM related, seems more likely to me that many of the initial batch of batteries have gone bad.
My battery is on order with expansy. Expect it in the next 4 to 5 days and will definitely let you all know of my experience with the new battery
Regards
First off, I have seen many threads on the MDA PRO (and all its variants) cutting out at high battery power levels and from what I can see there doesn't seem to be any concrete resolution. But here is my situation.
I bought a new sealed MDA Pro and immedialy flasshed to the latest T-Mobile rom. Thats where the problems began. I seem to be plagued by the MDA cutoff at 60-70% problem.
The way it manifests is the radion loses signal and cannot locate the carrier at or below 70%. At this stage a reset of the device and it reboots but as soon as you use the phone or wifi it crashes .. black screen.
As with others if I connect the USB cable and charge by PC or mains everything returns to normal. Not a very mobile solution!!
I have tried every variant of ROM out there and the problem remains. I have charged the battery for 16 hours etc etc. I have tried phone in Auto, GSM modes .. same problem :!:
The only thing I haven't done yet is buy a new battery and hence my post.
Will the purchase of a new battery solve the problem? As with other threads it would seem this came along with the latest roms. Does flashing a ROM when the battery is less than fully charged cause problems?
On a final note, if after the radio loses signal it is turned off I have been able to run the device down to 20% running videos and MP3. Is this a probem with radio levels above1.09.00 (Just thinking out loud)
HELP: This device is perfect for my daily use and having purchased a less than mobile device I am now close to getting rid .. but I dont want to
Any advice greatly appreciated... expecially from those who have fixed the problem.
I had this problem and a new battery fixed it.
Thanks. Look slike a new battery
There seems to be different speculations on what causes the battery problem on the Universal: the power charge cable quality theory, one idea about the battery level stored inside the batter which some claimed to registry heck could change and another idea about the battery 500 charges limitations.
But if yours is brand new, then none of the above applies... So the refresh to a new Rom definately must have something to do with it. Wonder anybody who had bought a new replacement battery after the power drop had done another rom refresh and whether the same problem returns?
I have just bought a replacement battery (1800m Ah at standard size by MoMax which gives me another 30% more power everyday which is something good I got from paying for a new battery) yesterday to change the old one out for the same reason. Looks like until someone found the real cause, I am keeping the old one for my next rom refresh...
New Battery ... problem resolved.
Hi,
I have had this handset for around a month..
I have downloaded about 6 extra apps onto the handset..inc google maps, Microsoft Live applications, live player, and others.
However as the applications comes with plentry of extra memeory through the internal and extrnal surely it is meant for this.
However I have a problem with the battery life. The phone last for around 4 / 5 hours, and then dies !!!
I have ordered a replacement battery from orange, and maybe this will solve the problem.
I have not got the blue toothe on, and made sure the apps in use are shut down and not left open.
Can I have any comments from anyone that may have experienced this problem.
Thanks
Andrew
What apps did you download onto your device? I seem to recall reading something about AEBPlus and mapping the wireless function which drains the battery...perhaps others know of more instances with other apps that might help?
apps downloaded are
Google maps
Google mail via JAVA
Live search ie maps, directions, web, and weather
messenger
windows live
I downloaded other smaller apps, however i have now deleted them, or have tried ( but i'll have to post re this, this is another issue )
Andrew
is it connected to wifi or 3g constantly ?
if so that would suck the batt out
my x1 works for 2 days without charging
because i dont have a constant connection
of those 2 sorts running and only have bluetooth on
when i'm using it
1st thing: Check the activesync settings, if activesync is constantly on then you'll need the fake server fix, so that it won't automatically try to find a connection. Also, MoDaCo NoData is useful in this scenario as you can stop any data connection that you want.
2nd thing: Also check for anything else that may be running in the background. Special things to take notice are programs that may need to run all the time. Like a 3rd party alarm etc...
3rd thing: The charger may be screwed up. I had this with mine, and ended up using my Herald's old one. Try charging your mobile using USB (connected on a pc) and see what happens. If you miraculously get more battery life then it means your charger got borged.
Had similar issues, with the phone barely lasting half a day, and now i finish the day with 50% charge. (Activesync was very responsible for 25% of the battery).
Hope i've helped.
I would suggest a hard reset, don't install ANYTHING and see how long it lasts. You probably just need to see it for 5 or 6 hours. After an overnight charge, I'll not be around 97% after 5 or 6 hours. If it's still draining without anything else installed then it is either your charger or your battery.
Hi all,
Thanks you very much for your replies.
I deleted one of the programs, and stil no sign of extra bettery life.
Then i went with the hard reset, ( bit of pain to re apply my email accounts ) this seems to be having an effect, as this obviosly got rid of all my extra programs.
Once i find out the battery life, I will re apply the programs i had on it, to see which ones zapps the battery power.
I hope it is not google maps, i had a lot of favourites saves on it. !!! blast
Thanks
Andrew
Which ROM are you using?
I get 2 days with ease on Dutty's 2.3 X ROM .
Hi Pinx,
Well i'm very PC lit, no so with the HDC HD,
This is what i've read from the settings about -
CE OS 5.2.20764 (BUILD 20764.1.4.3)
Processsor MSM7201A-528Mhz
Memory 195.83 MB
Expansion slot - 8GB HDSC Card. ( come with orange )
Is the one better what you suggested. ???
is the processor my RAM listed above ?
I must seem so niave !
Testing with a batter logger, my HD typically draws around 275 - 300ma when switched on, but this can go up to 450ma if using extras like wi-fi, gps etc.
When in standby, it is drawing typically 35-50ma (but I can't measure this too accurately (because, er, the device is in standby!).
Charging through the usb cable to my laptop puts in 100ma, and through a mains charger a liitle more at around 150ma.
The battery is 1350ma - do the maths!! When constantly in use (eg when loading and testing the device), the battery is likely to last 2 - 4 hours. When in standby, it can easily last over 36 hours.
On a point of interest, I previously had loaded Davideuck's rom 6.5 v3, along with the 1.12 radio. I found the battery drained really quickly. When I changed to Davideuck rom V6 and 1.10 radio, the battey life improved greatly. Now, was this down to either the radio or the rom, or was it simply down to the fact that I spent a couple of days playing with the HD to test everything out??
Battery life and GPS - strange behaviour
I too have noted extremely fast and seamingly randomized rapid battery drainage.
However, I have found something strange. If I use a any type of program that uses the GPS, the phones battery is draining fast aterwards. And I have made sure that any program/process using the GPS is shut down.
If I after having used the GPS soft reset the phone, battery is not affected almost anything in standby. Without the soft reset, the phone gets warm and battery is discharged very quickly.
Anyone else noticed this behaviour?
It is almost as if the GPS receiver is still running (?) even though all programs are shut down. No processes running in the background remaining from Google Maps, Tomtom, Efficasoft GPS or IGO 8 etc which I have tested with.

Yes I agree with the above post. After using google maps even though I closed it down fully and it does not appear in the active task list but the phone still gets hot and battery drains very very rapidly. If I do a soft reset then the battery returns back to normal and the phone is no longer heating up.
I get about 2.5 days with HSDPA on full time for push email and blue tooth on full time. Only a few calls a day.
If I put wi-fi on, then I have to charge by that evening. Wi-fi off and phone just lasts. Waaaay better than the TyTN 2 was. Happiness!

Hi Andrew,
Touch HD has the longest battery life of any similar 'phone. See for example
http://www.pcauthority.com.au/News/137036,mobile-phone-battery-life-htc-vs-iphone-vs-the-rest.aspx.
Either your GPS is staying on after closing Google Maps (soft reset by holding down power button for 3 secs will solve this), or your battery is dud.
Hope this early experience doesn't put you off. After 4 smart phones, this is one of my favourites. You might try deleting Google Maps and replacing with TomTom 7.4. It's a much better program IMHO, and doesn't need to suck data off the net when travelling, but the maps are quite pricey...
Good luck.
Batti may be the problem?
For me Batti (Battery meter program) was the problem.
With this program installed I could hardly get 20% by the end of the working day with light usage.
But now after uninstalling Batti (and installing FInixNOver Battery Icons) I almost never get below 50% even with moderate to heavy usage!
So, my assumption is that Batti drains HD's battery by constantly polling it even when the device is off. At the same time FIxinNOver product only replaces standard icons without interfering into system's polling procedure.
I should also mention that my previous installing/uninstalling/hard-resetting "experiments" did not give any battery life improvement results.

If you notice fast battery drain after using software which uses GPS etc, try using No Data
Handy software which allows you to easily toggle off either Internet, WAP or MMS. When you need to use GPS you can easily switch it on again
I tested on 2 Hermes (Dopod 838pro). Main device is loaded with Schap 4.30, second with Satin Normal.
I have had intermittent battery life issue with the main device.
Have swapped batteries, even put in new battery to no avail.
Most recent test: I loaded the second Dopod, ran it without a SIM card and battery life was OK. Today, I inserted a 3G SIM card and fired up Opera Mobile 10beta. Battery warning sounded in 15-30 mins!
I did not encountered this problem before because unlimited 3G data plans were expensive! Now that the price have dropped to SGD10 per month, I am really ticked off to find that the Dopod's battery life is crushed by very little 3G usage!
Is this consistent with all Dopod/Hermes?
Can anybody advice what I can do to maximize battery life under intermittent 3G use? My intended use is Outlook push mail with short intermittent/infrequent web browsing.
Thanks in advance.
Some more observations that may be useful to people who are interested:
1. I noticed that a number of my WM devices fails to turn off/go to sleep in the specified (battery operation time) when they are woken by some notification/alarm/appointment.
I suspect this could be one of the major cause of some intermittent battery drains that happens.
My theory:
1. Certain apps consume a lot of power when they are running
Example: SkyFire, Opera Mobile, etc.
2. They may or may not stop if I suspend/sleep the device with these apps on.
3. If the Hermes is woken with these apps running, it would account for massive power drains!
SO, at least if I can solve the issue of auto-sleep on battery, I may regain some control over the unexpected battery drain.
However, long term it would still not solve my problem of high battery drain when device is on & web surfing in progress.
I may try to play with the Radio ROMs instead . Any chance they could affect power consumption? I have avoided flashing the Radios so far....
Thanks
Updates!
After reading some pages on Hermes battery issues, I decided to try one experiment:
I turned off 3G on both Dopods. Data link is via GPRS only.
Results:
1. Battery life is restored - no more sudden battery drain!
2. Push mall continues to work!
3. However all web browsing (Opera Mobile, Opera Mini, PIE) all fails!!!!
Anybody can share their knowledge?
Thanks
Hi,
I wondered if anybody could shed some light. For the last few days I've noticed reduced battery life, and according to the system Battery display, the thing that is using most battery is "Bluetooth", taking around a third of the consumed battery. I installed GSAM, and it says that Bluetooth is using practically nothing, and it's "Phone Radio" taking around 60% of the consumed battery.
Consequently, I'm not sure which one is mis-reporting, and so am not sure where to start looking. I'm guessing either an app has been updated that causes the problem, or perhaps there's an environmental issue (problem with/change to the cell tower, maybe) that is causing the problem. Is there another battery monitor I could use that could help pinpoint the problem (I'm not rooted).
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Steve.

You are not alone i am also getting high battery drain.
I think it's related to the modem since October.Dec and latest January security patch update.. older firmware has no problem with cell standby or network related issues
My advice to you is try to downgrade your bootloader and modem to june-august
modem (DPE1-DPD1)
Bootloader (DPF3-DPG1)
