My suggestion would be to download the ROM again and reflash it.
Most likely you are trying to flash a ROM that requires Haykuro's SPL (which changes the MTD partition sizes), and it's running out of space during the installation.

Thanks. I'll try his then.
I tried to install JACHero's rom, and it says here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522076 that he recommends Cyanogen's 1.2 recovery, which i have currently, and it still didn't work, same error, except instead of line 19, it was line 12.
What am i doing wrong if i used the correct SPL from the post and the recovery...?
Give this a shot, we'll just double check everything, and try again, so as to rule out these possibilities. Don't skip any of these steps!
1st - Shut off your phone. Boot it back on, but into the SPL (camera+power buttons). Read the second line from the top, and the fourth line from the top. They will be your SPL and radio image, respectively. The second line should read "HBOOT-1.33.2005 (DREA10000)" and the fourth "RADIO-2.22.19.26I". Just to double check you have the ones needed if you are trying to install any hero rom and a few others too.
2nd - Delete the update.zip off of your sdcard (and computer, if it's there too) and re-download it. Put it back on your sdcard and rename to "update.zip". Make sure you have your file extensions un-hidden, so that its not actually "update.zip.zip".
3rd - Make sure you are wiping (alt+w) from inside your recovery loader, before you are applying the new update.zip (alt+s).
Unsolved Mystery, Case Closed.
Thanks for the help everyone. I have all the updated stuff, i guess my G1 just doesn't like the other roms.
I have no complaints with Cyanogens Rom, in fact, i like it very much. I think i will just keep it how it is.
Again, thanks everyone for your help.

Hi, I have a friend who currently has
Android Recovery System <2e> on his droid. Wanting to know if there's a way to change from that to Amons? Also, while using the <2e> any zip he tries to install comes up with the error E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command
If he scrolls down to Apply sdcard: update.zip he gets:
--Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:signature verification fialed
Installation aborted.
This happens when trying to open .zip's such as Evil Eris 2.0 or any other zip. I have Amon's recovery and these zips work fine for me.
Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
was anything changed within the .zip files?... because if so that will cause it. Also i know if you rename the .zip file you will also recieve the problem because they signed with that specific name. Otherwise, i suggest deleting it from you SD and downloading the .zip again and do a wipe data/dalvik and reflash. But remember to do a nand backup! Lemme know what you get....
No files/names have been changed. If I could get Amon's recovery I could mod his phone for him. I have Amon's and do not have this issue. It is prbably something I am not doing due to being unfamiliar with the recovery he has. Basicaly I think all I really need is a way to get his recovery to read Amon's and I'm good.

Are you certain about that, or is that unique to that specific recovery menu?
I rename my update.zip's and ROM's after they've been signed and don't run into issues.
If his phone is rooted just download rom manager from the market, open it, scroll all the way to the bottom and hit flash alternative recovery.
That should do it.

I change the name of update.zip and it always fails to verify.
Like the title says, does damageless' sprintupdate2.zip have apps2sd enabled? I flashed it and all my apps appear to be installing on the device memory. What am I missing here? I wiped everything before flashing and partitioned my SD card.
I think sprintupdate2.zip was strictly the sprint update + root + busybox - some bloatware.
I wouldn't think he enabled apps2sd on it.

Well, most roms have it built in to the boot up scripts....
You would have to pull that script from one of the roms and put it on yours.
Then you would have to have your SDcard setup with an EXT2/3 partition. This can be done from recovery.

Quick question. Can the New OC kernel be added to the damageless sprint leaked rom?
I have flashed a ROM yesterday : RUU_Vision_hTC_Asia_HK_CHT_1.34.708.3_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.18_M2_release_154602_signed.exe
Software ver. : 1.34.708.3
Today I want to flash back to Villian ROM..... but then found that the bootloader has already returned to S-ON.
So I tried the normal way to make it S-OFF. Mine is Desire-Z HK version. So I used the wpthis-Z.ko and hbooteng.img (as taught by someone in the forum here) to run.
Everything goes fine until "insmod /data/local/wpthis-Z.ko". It came out as "Failed - exec format error". Then the result is still S-ON.
I also tried wpthis-pre-OTA.ko and wpthis-OTA.ko just to take a bet, but the result still failed - exec format error
No idea which step or files went wrong........
Can anyone teach me how to correct this? I would really love to go back to the Villian ROM.
Use the new Uber-root method - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857390
You don't need to put that eng hboot on any more, unless you really want to (you'll still be able to flash custom ROMs without it, because you'll still have S-OFF).
Thanks Stevie....but I still have problem in using this method :
1) It said "unzip the file into any directory". Would that be directory on PC or sdcard?
2) I have followed exactly the code instruction but when get into step "./gfree", it returns with a lot of parameters which I have no idea what it meant.....And the result is -
"Patching and backing up partition 7...
Error opening copy file
#"

Just found from another thread and realized that I have missed one very very important step : Make sure your computer is not mounting your phone's sdcard - in which I did not see this remark from qpop's instruction....

I'm trying to upgrade my rooted TF101 to 9.2.1.11 and every zipI use complains on an assert failure for /system/app/Netflix.apk. Any suggestions out there in the development community? I didn't think that uninstalling Netflix would cause such a hassle later on. Is there a different version of the .apk I can try? Or a different way of installing it (I just copied it over after remounting /system/app as rw).
Alternatively, can I unroot, then download the update, then re-root? Anybody have any practice with that, or will the Netflix.apk package.
Thank you! Have a nice day (or evening).

That wasn't a zip file, it was an apk. And you don't flash those in recovery. Just put it in /data/app directory, then restart the tablet. Or you can try to execute it, and it will automatically install to the appropriate folder.
I solved it!
Yes, I just copied it over using scp (after remounting /system as rw). I'm no noob!
Here's what I did to get it to work.
I unzipped the rooted zip file, edited the updater-script to remove references to Netflix.apk (three of them), then rezipped it up, copied it to the sdcard , rebooted to recovery, then flashed it. Worked! Here's the exact steps took:
On my linux latop:
mkdir /tmp/ics-us-8.6.5.21-to-9.2.1.11-CWM-rooted
cd /tmp/ics-us-8.6.5.21-to-9.2.1.11-CWM-rooted
unzip ~/Download//tmp/ics-us-8.6.5.21-to-9.2.1.11-CWM-rooted.zip
vi ./META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script
# /Netflix\.apk finds the lines, I deleted two, and modified the third to remove the reference.
zip -r /tmp/ics-us-8.6.5.21-to-9.2.1.11-CWM-rooted.zip *
scp /tmp/ics-us-8.6.5.21-to-9.2.1.11-CWM-rooted [email protected]:/Removable/MicroSD

Ok I rooted my Nook color about 1 year ago and used it just for a few months. Well I recently turned it back on and went to update my current rom by using ROM Manager app. If I go to my google play website it say I have Phiremod for Nook.
Ok so when I press the power button, it loads a CyanogenMod and either loading... or loading boot mode... and then will turn to a black light screen

Do you have the zip on the CWM sd? And don't use 'install update'. Use install from SD or something like that where the next dialog is picking the zip to install.
Edit: And if you are already doing all of that you might want to toggle verification or asserts. And you are sure the zip is a good one? Did you try looking at it on your PC?

Do I need to name the folder as something?
Also after I extract the file into a new folder, do I just drag and drop the file on to the sd card?

I'm pretty sure that if you have the 1.4.1 stock zip, you just install that using CWM and it will give you a stock Nook; you shouldn't have to unzip anything. If that's not working try the instructions here to get back to stock

That link starts with a CM7 load, restores it to Nook version 1.3 and upgrades *that* to 1.4. Seems to me you could start at the part where he is upgrading the 1.3 to 1.4 and go from there.
