i've been trying to mod my widgetlocker in order to change my lockscreen slider but I don't quite understand what I must do. the thread's here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825553. I tried the root explorer method but the files couldn't be copied to the apk. as for the other methods, it contains strange terms that I don't get like "s-off" and "sdk directory." so, if someone could provide me a simple way to mod widgetlocker in hd2, i'll be very happy. thanks.

I have the problem that I want to change the GPS settings in the etc/gps.conf file. But I have no chance to get root access to my device. I tried the "super tools" root file explorer without success.
Does anyone have a short WORKING procedure how to edit/copy/replace the gps.conf on a HTC HD2 with stock desire NAND froyo image??
(Whats is adb? cwm? cwr= how to "root" my android??)

Could a moderator delete this please, it's been answered in the AngelDeath thread.
I want to use Root Explorer (or something similar) to modify my phone software - specifically I'm looking at replacing the boot animation. Am I correct that this requires rooting my phone? Or can I do so without rooting it?

Root Explorer is a file manager that gives you access to system directories.
Although using it will allow you access to files you normally wouldn't have access to, it won't actually help you to modify "your phone's software".
To change your boot animation, yes, you will need to be rooted...

Is there any possibility to change emoji system-wide without root access? I know how to do it with root, will it work if for example new font will be added or something similiar?

Hello,
Fro me, if you want to change the stock emoji library, you must have the root access because you will must replace (so change) ressources.
I can recommand you to use a temporary root access by flashing supersu 2.52 zip (you could find it by search on XDA the root solution for marshmallow:good.
Without root, for me its just impossible, or if you like works many hours, modify your ROM and change the permissions of the specifiq system folder that content emoji ressources files and re-flash your rom but its cannot be done succefully by any users..
=> So make an nandroid backup before make anything :angel:.
