Hi,
Is there any possibility to change emoji system-wide without root access? I know how to do it with root, will it work if for example new font will be added or something similiar?
Thanks in advance

Hello,
Fro me, if you want to change the stock emoji library, you must have the root access because you will must replace (so change) ressources.
I can recommand you to use a temporary root access by flashing supersu 2.52 zip (you could find it by search on XDA the root solution for marshmallow:good.
Without root, for me its just impossible, or if you like works many hours, modify your ROM and change the permissions of the specifiq system folder that content emoji ressources files and re-flash your rom but its cannot be done succefully by any users..
=> So make an nandroid backup before make anything .
Good job!

Can we adb push to /system/fonts ?
I think we have to be booted in recovery for this to work ?
Correct me if I am wrong.
Thank you.

I've done this using the app Typefresh. It has a thread in the Android software forum here at xda somewhere.
With root, you can replace the fonts, yes.. backup your old ones just in case!

I attempted this yesterday.
Mind giving a quick walkthrough ?
I basically did:
su
adb push "c:\fonts" /system/fonts
No joy- Got back adb can not be found ??
TYIA
The way I got this done is with Typefresh. There is a thread about this in here: Android Development and Hacking>Android Apps and Games>[APP]Type Fresh - change your fonts!
(Sorry, I can't post links yet. If someone else wants to repost it as a link, help yourselves.)
What I did was download a font (a Harry Potter font is not installed from the factory--heehee) and adb push it to /sdcard/Fonts. Then I opened Typefresh and click the font you want changed, in my case it was DroidSans.ttf, and it allows you to choose the font you want to change it to. I will note here that apparently some fonts do not work well and may result in a brick. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE DOING IT, YOU MAY BRICK YOUR DEVICE. Luckily, there is a fix for that now.
Anyway, thanks to openback for the app.
I forgot to mention that you also need to dl andexplorer to use this app. I personally did not have a root explorer hitherto so that was fine for me.
Now my question is, how can i change the font for the homescreen, or launcher pro in my case, but leave the browser's font stock?
I want to know how to change system font w/wo root.
Is there anyone to know?
I assume w/wo means with or without.
With root, you can replace /system/fonts/DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf. You can use same ttf for both files but both have to be replaced.

Thanks. So I have to root it to do. How about without root? I had a galaxy tab and there is font option on display, so I can just install .apk file for new font. Any easy way?

I have it in my Froyo phone as well but there is no display-> fonts setting in HC. Root seems to be the only way to change fonts at this time.
hi guys,
If i wanted to use another dialer instead of stock phone, can i delete it ?
if you delete it, you will get a bootloop, as far as I know.
Just overwrite it with a root-compatible explorer.
Or modify propc´s reframe.sh and change the file names to phone.apk and the directorys to /system/app/phone.apk (or SEMCphone.apk if you´re on SE stock 2.1)
you can delete the dialer.apk, I did. SemcPhone.apk, do not erase, I've tried to replace phone.apk but does not work.
If I helped you, thank me ....
Thanks
I don't have the options to do it another way.

that would be foolish as it stops your network service, anyways you can use systemappremover or titanium backup to uninstall system apps, but do so at your own risk
Hi, is it possible to replace system font by another?without installing additional apps? Where are system fonts stored?

iFont from Play lets you download hundreds of font types and sizes without root, install in settings/display/font types. Fonts are located in /system/fonts afaik btw
I would have to agree with previous. ifint is really good. just follow instructions. works best on rooted devices but no need for rooted with it. works great on stock too

Great support. Thank you very much!!!
To my chosen font. Only some of the apps accept my chosen one.
Thanks
You need root access to change your device fonts.
with root access you can set/apply any ttf fonts.

Yes, I have root. Then where do I get the font files to replace the stock font files in /system?

Simple search on Play Store will find font changing apps, but from what you want not every app will change to the new system fonts when applied.
I've not yet found any way to change the fonts so that every app will change to the new system fonts applied. Some apps must have the fonts in the app and will not change.
Cheers

Find your faorite font here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/themes/fonts-flashable-zips-t3219827 download and flash Via TWRP
I found a free app that does the job. It's called iFont and its what I've used on multiple devices (Nexus 6P, LG G3) for well over a year now. It has a garbage UI and ads and it's probably granting itself (and China) power of attorney over all your financial assets but it does two things very well:
1) Browse and download a ton of different fonts from within the app
2) Install/backup/restore the font
It's a better selection of fonts than I've seen in any other app or on the web itself. The file it downloads is an .APK that you can just manually extract to grab the .TFF file inside if you'd like. With Xposed, supposedly it lets you do per-app fonts and also color but haven't tested that. On some phones like the S3 and S4 apparently you dont even need root or to reboot to make it work in some capacity.

Why not use substratum + TypeFace app from the Store? Not even reboot is necessary. And with the app mentioned you can make substratum theme with ANY font you find on web.
ROM Toolbox makes it simple to change font systemwide.
