On my other recent HTC phones (Kaiser and Diamond) it wasvery useful to disable 3G to improve battery life.
Is there a CAB or a ROM that includes a comm manager that has a switch to disable 3G?

hi,
- go to "Settings" => "Phone" => klick the tab "Band" => change Network type to GSM and thats all. My ROM "RuRo" has default disable 3G, because i don't use that. But if you need that, you can easy put 3G on.
In Setting->Phone->Band Menu item, you can disable 3G function
- sorry wrong forum section!

Hi,
another little tool by me. This time it is to toggle between 3G and GPRS. Basically it does the same as if you click on the 3G button in the CommManager.
The main usage would be in scripts or through a shortcut as it has no GUI and toggles it quite fast.
History:
v1.0
initial release
Will this toggle between Auto and GSM modes or we can choose WCDMA (3G) only, too?
command line?
Hi
Thanks for this application. Good idea. I'll test it out.
Does this support command line functions, such as switching from "Auto" in the band page to "GSM" or "WCDMA"? If not, can this be implemented?
Many thanks

I only tested it on my GSM device. So I can't say if it will work for CDMA devices.

There are no commandline parameters yet.

Doesn't work on my 614c, either. Too bad, looks like a neat app.

Those apps are fine, but they do much more than what this does and have UIs, which are unnecessary if you just want something to use in ThrottleLauncher or UltimateLaunch. I think this is a great tool - I just wish it worked for a non-HTC phone.
Nice little app. Very useful to launch from Programs in TF3D...

WCDMA is 3G, not CDMA... Stupid name but whatever...
This will be a great tool for use in scripts. Problem with toggling, tho, is that in order to get what you want, you have to know the current state. I would really appreciate some basic CL parms like -3Gon and -3Goff
I would like to use your application to change the status of the 3G connection through a button that run the program, and I would like the icon button changes depending on the state of the 3G connection.
Place where the register is saved the state of the 3G connection?
Sorry for my english.
Very nice program. Does exactly what it should.
But it has no icon yet. Will there be one in the future?
Indeed, an icon would be nice.
For CDMA users:

I tried this on my Tilt 2 and it seems to only change the toggle in the commmanager, but it doesn't seem to change my actual connection.
Hi MarcLandis,
thank you for sharing this with us so we can test it. So please read my...
Report:
i have tested toggle 3g on my phone (signature). What i have seen is that in the taskbar the icon is changing from 3g to flight mode and back when i use the exe again.
But when i use the hardware phone button i can take normal phone calls without the code popup and the icon is changing from flight mode to 3g. When i close the phone app the deafault 3g icon stays allways.
So i think it is not working on my HD2.

Thank's, but I was looking for comm manager that has Beam and GSM on/off in it! This one doesn't
just a little question and a headsup:
Q: That Comm Manager cab that is posted, does it also contain the new wi-fi settings, bluetooth connect dialog and phone-settings?
(I have mine cooked in so don't need it, but it's nice knowing what it contains and what it doesn't contain).
The other thing:
The HD Weather Tab link that is posted is a link to the version from the Touch HD. The one you asked for in your screenshots is the (newer) one from the Rhodium Manila. I don't if there is a separate tab for yet.

That comm manager looks like it's stock, I even didn,t open the wifi setting neather bluetooth or phone, I unninstaled it becouse it wasn't what I was looking for.
You saying that you have comm manager, that looks like in the screenshot?
With the beam and gsm on it? Maybe you hav a cab and can share it with me?
You are right about the weather tab, it's not like in the screen shot, but does the job for now
But yes, would be nice to get the hands on the new one, from Rhodium Manila!

The detail goes in the on/off switches. The new Comm Manager, you can click on the line 'Wi-Fi', and separately on the on/off switch. Clicking the switch turns it on/off, clicking on the word / text goes to the setting screen.
I have it yeah, but the only _few_ versions I've seen are ment to be cooked in, I never seen a CAB. Kinda the reason why I asked what that cab was that was posted, because it is (or would've been) the first CAB of the new Comm Mananger and setting-screens.
The squished graphics aren't 'fixable'. That screen is ment for a 480x800 device and is just plain resized to fit your 480x640. On the new RhodiumManila VGA port they didn't just resize, but actually modified the layout so it would fit and make more sense on a 480x640 screen, so yeah. it fits and looks better .
Why don't you take a new ROM with all of this in it and working? Because a lot of the new 'toys' out there require a custom ROM with newer build anyway.

At last, I found my dream comm manager
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402012
I have a ROM that I like (in my signature) it's fast and stock, so I deside what I want an what I don't Other rom's maybe good by they modified by the chief's taste and what is important for him, my need may be different
Still would be nice to get the hands on that better weather tab
so does this new topaz comm manager cab work an if so does it work correctly and is it uninstallable???
Yes it's working, it's just not what p.brazauskas was looking for

For the next time, launch Advanced Config, goto Menu\More Steengs\Comm Manager. You'll be able to select the CommManager style (Big button or ON/OFF button) and the items displayed from the following list (Flight mode, Phone, Bluetooth, Wireless Lan, MS Direct Push, Data Connection, Beam, Ringer, Activsync, VoIP, Internet sharing and 3G)
By the way p.brazauskas, what's the point of getting the beam switch when there's no infrared on a Diamond ? It's totally pointless, isn't it ?

Thanks for explanation
As I read in this forum, Beam manages bluetooth, and when it's turned off it saves power (bluetooth doesn't work if beam is off).
Also why would developers put beam swith in they software, if it was useless?

Yes, it works correctly, and yes it's uninstallable!
Once I flashed to a certain ROM, I lost my 3G. Is there somewhere in the registry to check for this?

there's a tweak for HTC Comm Manager that allows switching between 2G/3G if you mean that?

hi guys... i got a locked hd2 tmous. i always get a 3G signal that keeps popping up and bothering me. i want it turned off and i want 2G turned off too. how do i totally disable 3G and 2G for good?
3G you can just turn off in Comm Manager.....
Tap your taskbar...
Tap the network connection icon..
Scroll down to the 3G toggle.
You cannot disable 2G as that would leave you with no signal at all.

You arecright you can turn the 3G off in community manager but you firstchave to do the registry edit to make the 3G in community manager appear, remember it is hidden by defualt. You can find the registry edit in the "Leo Hints, Tips and Registry Tweaks" thread tweak #49. Or you can install Touch Tools or BSB Tweaks witch can do most of those tweaks for you if you are scared to mess with your registty. I personally like Touch Tools better than BsB Tweaks bit that is just me. Go the links below to check out the thread and the two apps.

Hmmm that is a little odd, are you sure your Rigistry editor will in hide system files? This qoute comes from the thread on tweaks I linked to you.
Note for users new to Windows Mobile you will need a registry editor to find and edit files beginning with either HKCU or HKLM and a file editor that can unhide system files.
