Heelo i have upgraded my polaris with windows mobile 6.5 and im very happy with it but always if somebody sents me something over bluetooth we have to connect with a password e.g. 0000 does anybody know how to turn it off
If you want to turn it of, you have to be able to change the Bluetooth security mode, from mode 3 (link level security) to mode 2 (service level security) or 1 (no security). This is not recommended from a security perspective though. Therefore I think most operating systems won't let you disable it.
but is there no programm for

Hi,
I have seen this topic being discussed many times, and I have read a lot of threads. Tried all. But no solution.
I am having problems with Active Sync
Active Sync 4.1.0.
---------------------------
ROM Version: 2.21.4.1 WWE
ROM Date: 3/9/06
Radio Version: 02.07.10
Protocol Ver: 413.1.03
CPU: OMAP850
Model No: WIZA200
Platform: PocketPC
---------------------------
I tried it on 2 different Laptops.
No Firewall. Windows Firewall disabled too.
Tried innumerable reboots and Reinstalls.
I have ActiveSync 4.1.0 -- this came in the CD with the Wizard.
I also installed the latest version downloaded from the net.
When I connect the Wizzard to the PC, the Active Sync application starts and the Green balls starts to spin.
Its goes on spinning and spinning and spinning.
Nothing happen after that. It just goes on spinning.
What should I do ??
Please suggest problem areas and resolution.
Thanking all in anticipation.
Sandeep
I had to deinstall the firewall and then it halfway worked.
I ended up using IR for synching and there it works fine.
Try once IR to sync. Start communication on the Wizard..
Does Wizard have IR (Infrared)?
My Wizard does not seem to have it? Am I missing something?
Could it be some issue on the PDA side ?
Do you think, I should Factory Reset the Wizard?
I installed Active Sync on 2 different laptops and both gave me same problem as mentioned in the original post ....... When I plug the Wizard Active Sync starts and the green circle keeps spinning endlessly.
Pls advice.
Thx
Sandeep
Hey !
plz check & confirm the following :-
1. which Windows ur using, Active sync only works with winXP and not with winVISTA.For Winvista u got to use another application called 'Windows Mobile Device Centre 6.
2.Check ur Usb data cable,is it the proper one and compatible with ur wizard.
3.Download Active sync ver 4.5 (Latest from Microsoft)
4.Check ur Firewall settings, does the firewall allows the active sync in the exceptions settings,if not, either disable firewall or add active sync application to the exceptions list in the firewall settings.
5.disable if any Anti virus program installed.it usually starts checking for viruses, while starting a new application.
I do hope these might solve ur problem,Goodluck
(1) PC: Win XP - SP2
(2) USB Data Cable is good, cause as soon I plug the device, the Active Sync application starts on XP - Detects a Mobile Device.
The problem is the Green Wheel keeps rotating endlessly. And does not move to the next step of Syncing.
(3) Active Sync 4.1 (this came on an original CD pack with the Wizard)
Tried Active Sync 4.5 too. Same situation
(4) Windows Fw - Disabled. TrendMicro Exited. No other firewall exists.
What should I do ?
Please advice.
Thx

I know that you already said no other firewall exists, but are you running any VPN Client software?
I have exactly same situation when I activate my VPN Client software (Nortel Contivity) - the device connects as a LAN but ActiveSync no likey - green big wheel keep on turning. Soon after disconnecting the VPN, the ActiveSync works.
p.s. Yes Wizard has IR - on same edge as camera button, approx middle.
No Firewall & No VPN Client either.
Hey, Yes!! I see the IR on the Camera Button side.
But no IR port on my Lenovo. Pitty!!
BTW, how to setup & Use IR from Wizard?
I do not see any configuration icons in the CONNECTIONS tab.
I have the following Icons:
Beam
Bluetooth
Connections
CSD Line Type (Not sure what this is)
GPRS Settins
Network Cards
Wireless LAN
Thats it.
Look forward to some more help.
Thx
thou I have Disabled Windows Firewall in Control Panel, I think it is still active in some form.
Is there any other way to disable it 100%.
I am sure its some firewall thingy which is causing the problem.
The OS detects that a new mobile device is connected, starts Active Sync Apps and then the Green wheel keeps rotating.
I am sure the Wizard and XP are not able to communicate further due to some port blocking or packet drop or something like that.
I exited TrendMicro and Disabled XP Firewall.
What else should I look at?
Thx

the green wheel keeps on turning cuz it's trying to synchronize and update the folders on ur pc from ur phone.
ok,plz tell, when u say that it detects ur mobile device on ur pc,can u use the File folder in Activesync window ? well if u can explore or do u have mobile device shown in activesyc,if its there, click it,does it open further and open different folders on ur phone,if it does than its just some bug in ur pc which keeps it turning.
secondly, try to delete ur partnership with activesync and ur pc and connect as a guest, than if it still keeps on turning or stops ?
If this is posted to the wrong place please forgive, I am working on an NDIS intermediate miniport driver on WM5/6. Our driver works on all CE platforms ( and all other windows platforms ) and installs and works on WM5 and 6 *EXCEPT* form some strange behavior around WLAN connections.
When we are installed w/ a WLAN, when the machine powers up, or soft boots, or suspend/resumes, the default SSID attempts to connect. Instead of auto-connecting, the 'tower icon' never connects, instead eventually a second 'tower icon' comes up and I get two 'tower' icons connecting. Neither ever connect.
If I manually go into 'network cards' and press 'connect', the SSID will connect and authenticate, and the network works, and the IM works and sees all traffic.
Micro$hit refuses to support anything, and HTC is no better.
If you guys are smart enough the reverse engineer the entire OS, does anyone have any idea what is going on here? Any ideas would be great.
What about an alternative comm manager that would work around this? I wrote a wzc application to try and duplicate the behavior when I manually press connect in comm manager, but it just seems to replicate the 'auto connect' behavior w/ two 'tower icons'
Does anyone know what is happening?
Does anyone have an application that can work around this?
Can anyone write an application for $$$$ to work around this?
Help me please
-Seth
How works Your application which duplicate comm manager behavior?
Did You try functions in ossvcs.dll?
I did not write my own comm manager, this is the standard comm manager, I am relying on the default WM6 one.
I wrote an app using the WZC calls based on WZCTOOL in the CE6 sdk, and when I put the key, and enc type in it will successfully connect to the access point. With my IM installed, however, this WZC app will re-produce the problem described before exactly. Somehow the default windows comm manager can still successfully connect manually... how does it do this, what calls does it use, I need to know how. Can anyone write this? The code in wzctool will not do it ( I don't think, possibly I have bone stuck in my head ).
I don't know ossvcs, please elaborate on how/what functions I might be interested in.
As an aside, does anyone want to try our shim on one of your custom kernels. I am necessarily running on a standard WM6 kernel, if someone would test and see if this problem exists on custom kernels that would be swell. I cannot modify the kernel on this one and only device I have.
Here is the good description for functions in osvcss.dll
http://www.teksoftco.com/articles/article 007/radiodevices.htm
HTH
I tried out the ossvcs sample application, and it caused the same behavior I see with the WZC stuff or when trying to 'auto connect' after a reset. That is, the access point never connects. Manually I can still connect by going into comm mgr, editing the access point, pressing cancel, then connect, and instant connection. What api call is this app using at that point?
It's verry strange behavior.
One tip from other side - did You try call SetDevicePower fo Wifi Driver and intermediate driver?
no special handling
I will look into SetDevicePoPower, but I think NDIS should be handling power events... Any further info on SetDevicePoPower or anything else would be great.
Oh yeah, in case I didn't say so before, you guys *ROCK*! Keep up the good work, and if I ever solve this problem I will be sure to 'let on'.
Does anyone out there in the wide world have an Ndis Intermeidate Miniport driver akin to PASSTHRU working for 802.11xxx on a TyTn ( WM5 or 6 )?
Yes NDIS handling power events, but by using api setdevicepower You can explicitly on/off wifi connection
Please try to write small apllication which turn wifi on and off.
CEDEVICE_POWER_STATECEDEVICE_POWER_STATE devState = D4; //Full power - constant D0 represents NO power state (OFF)
DevicePowerNotify("<WifiAdapeterName> (qualified - example {8DD679CE-8AB4-43c8-A14A-EA4963FAA715}\xxx1:", devState, POWER_NAME);
SetDevicePower("<WifiAdapeterName> (qualified - example {8DD679CE-8AB4-43c8-A14A-EA4963FAA715}\xxx1:", POWER_NAME, devState);
But Maybe You have still problem if wifi driver is not loaded until comm mgr button is pressed...
.
WiFiFoFum
I just tried the WiFiFoFum application that allows one to power on and off the devices. Is this using the same API? WiFiFoFum did not work, I tried powering on and off my device and the real device in different orders, and it does not work.
I will try you API now...
not smart enough
I don't know enough to understand your example. Where do I get the correct GUIDs from? I assume the xxx1, is the device name instantiation.
What about 'devName' and POWER_NAME. Sorry, bone still stuck in head, ughh.
Guid is typically found on this place
\\\registry\HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Suspend\
Value is
{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\
Device name can be found on registry key HKLM/COMM.
Also device name is displayed in wififoforum.
POWER_NAME is constant - see MSDN.
Hi,
I'm using O2 XDA Atom Life (Pocket PC WM 5.0).
I would like to know if there is programmatical or manual way to turn off the wireless zero configuration service completely so that My code could get hold of NDISUIO protocol driver?
Thanks

Hello everynyan
just a small question. I've got a WM5 device, a Bluebird Pidion BIP-1300 POS (POS is supposed to stand for point of sale, but in this case it surely means pile of **** :angel. Anyway, their WIFI configuration is set to connect to a particular SSID and I need a way to completely disable the SSID search so they connect only to this preconfigured one.
I can disable the notification that new SSIDs were found, but this is not quite what I need.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in advance
Install WM6 that should help.
Unfortunately I cannot do that because the manufacturer does not support WM6 on these devices and it is not possible to install custom ROM because the devices would go into tamper mode - these are credit card processing terminals, so the security is high.
So being new to windows 8 phone - but having previous windows mobile devices (ppc6700, 6800, 6900) as well as every other brand/model and mobile os connected to my hip at one time or another.. im curious to see if windows 8 offers a registery edit or back end software control somewhere/somehow?
The reason I am asking -- looking to see if there is a way to disable the 5 minute idle timeout on hotspot/tethering on the nokia 920. I work for a company that uses the feature regularly and the time out is going to cause us some issues in the field. With our blackberries - tethered via bluetooth - the devices where basiclly upon command - if we told them to dial out using handheld scanners the bluetooth request would kick in, the devices would power up the blackberry modem connection - dial out and be tethered.. with the IOS bluetooth DUN didnt work with the old handheld scanners we use - so we had to wifi hotspot/tether -- this worked great as esstentially the iphones didnt turn off the feature even though the connection went dormant.. it would just drop the handheld device and when we turned on the handheld - it would just auto connect and go about its business.
The Windows 8 completely disables the wifi tethering option and has to be manually turned back on in the phone - causing delays and issues with our handheld scanners.
back to the point question -- is there a registry edit availble within the windows 8 phones so that we can tinker with the internet settings of the device?

No. This was available for WP7.5 with Full Unlock or Root Tools, but neither of these unlocks were achieved on WP8 yet.
