Camera broken? - XPERIA X1 General

I got some strange issues on pictures and videos which i made with my X1. As you can see on the pictures below there are those i dont know "sun stripes" when i point on windows. I dont think it was like that when i got the X1. Can someone tell me if he got the same problem?

Are you sure there is no fingerprints on the cover???

oh man i feel so dumb... it really was because of a fingerprint... thanks xD

Application Idea

Just came up with a fun idea or a completely pointless application/game using the accelerometer and/or the touch screen. Should be simple to do for you guys .
Basicly it's just a figure of a man or something else on the screen wich you can toss around and throw into the phones' "walls". The more you throw it the more it get hurt. As I'm writing this I see this is really sadistic xD. But yeah it's kinda like a voodoo-doll.
Maybe it's just me who would find this fun?
sounds good man, cant wait to see the end results

Hairline cracks around the headphone jack on my brand new Nexus One??

I've just received my Nexus One today, but found out there are two hairline cracks around the headphone jack, is there anybody have the same problem?
I had the same problem with my iPhone 3GS before...
they look perfectly straight
are you sure they aren't designed that way?
I'm thinking they're just there from the mold they used to cast that piece.
I have those too... didnt even notice it... I think its part of the hardware though from the looks of it.
I have the same; looks like it's definitely from the mold they used and not actual cracks.
You may now breathe a sigh of relief!
Cheers,
Kermee
Ditto.
it doesn't look like a defect. i was about to cut a mofo if it was.
WOW! OP, your and Id10t!
I'm really sorry, i never try to offend anyone its just that this question and looking at the pic got to me.
I got those too.
I have it on mine too. it's very tiny. I hardly notice.

wow your very kind
please excuse someone who was afraid that his 530 dollar investment was flawed.
Mine doesn't have those
If it is a crack this suffers from the same thing as the x1 xperia

Same here, got mine today
I didnt notice till I looked at you picture then my phone but yeah, it's just part of the mold.
Mine doesn't have those marks. But it does look like something caused during the manufacturing process.
ive got em... had to get a bright flashlight to see em but i have them too, and they dont go down into the jack so its not a crack

Dust in the Frontcam?!

Hey guys,
i have a problem with dust in the frontcam of my galaxy s...
I don't know how it came in there, but it is defenitly there!
Anyone have same problems and maybe a solution for this?
I already contacted the samsung support, but they just told me i should send in the phone and this wouldn't be free -.-
Maybe someone has already opened up his galaxy and removed the dust manually...
Thanks in advance...
ps: i will post some pics if i find my cam again
Does it dramatically affect pics taken with the FF cam?
If it's under warranty, and wasn't due to abuse, they can't charge you for anything other than shipping in most countries.
Yeah, i already compared it to a friends brandnew galaxy s, we just placed them next to each other, and activated the frontcam...
There was definitely a difference, his colors were much better and mine looked a lot more pale!!!
I don't really use the frontcam very often, so it is not that dramatically, but a phone in this price-class should normally not have problems like this...
If anyone else has same problems, so please reply, i don't wanna be the only one with dust in my cam >.<
front cam

You can go into your camera and then select "self-shot" in the shooting settings.

Didn't know that... Thanks!
The problem is still there -.-
Has anyone already opened up his galaxy s?
If i'd send it in for repair, this will take up to 4 weeks... definitely tooo long!
If it's easy to open i would try to clean it on my own
Am i really the only guy, who has dust in his frontcam, can't believe that >.<
dust solved by Samsung service.

Hi i solved the problem bringing my Galaxy S to the samsung service, i don't nknow what they have done, but i can't see any sign of opening.
I read in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=802704 that the dust came through the 3,5 jack to the front cam, but i don't think so, because the component 3,5 jack is isolated... Any idea?
had mine for nearly 9 months and mine is dust free
Why dont you get a can of compressed air and try blasting it down the headphone and USB socket ? Or even around the bezel and speaker.
Infact, just spray the whole bloody phone with it lol
Compressed air is cheap.

[Q] broke the small battery.wifi gone forever??

hi, well, i always have the wifi error on my atrix, and i've seen the famous video on youtube tht shows how to fix this problem by just moving the ' small battery', but me!! i have pull it completly!!!! so i say bye forever to my wifi/btooth ?? or still hope! pls someoneeeeeeeeee..
thkssssssssss
did you actually take apart your phone?
if this is the thing you mean....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYz_RiuFVRk
Then i'd have to say that doing so probably wasn't a GOOD idea to begin with. And it says to "remove and resolder" it... which does not look like it's in a place where it would be easy for anybody to do at home. Nice, though, how he doesn't SHOW that in his video. Just kinda shows him removing one side of it. Doesn't look like a battery, honestly. Looks more like it'd be some sort of resistor or capacitor or something.

Definitely not a resistor or cap. I think it is a battery with that strap across the top. Pretty big actually, relative to other surface mounted components. It looks like something i would attempt to solder by hand. But i wouldn't recommend it to someone with no soldering experience.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA
Yeah that video seems to be pretty useless, I posted it in the following thread just to have a record of it:
https://forums.motorola.com/posts/0c2f1387d6

Misplaced Rear Camera!

The 6T just arrived yesterday, it felt really good 'cause I was coming from the ages old OnePlus One.
And boom! I had this feeling that the camera on my phone is misplaced. Both rear cameras are not in the centre, they're a bit above the centre.
Could anyone please help here? I just got one friend out here who has a 6T and comparing the two I do see some difference.
Should I care about this misplacement? I'll get a replacement if I report it within 10 days so yeah, do tell me if anyone knows about this and if I should really care and report it or is it not a big deal and just fine. The phone is perfect - those cameras work perfectly, I tested them individually by the tests in *#808# and both work.
Attaching some images of my phone and also one that I found on the internet (which I feel has the same issue?).
I've marked the cam in yellow and the asymmetrical hollow space around it in green.
(It's the 256GB model by the way)
isnt that what OIS does?
the camera moves inside its aperture
i thought it was by design
Quick visual assessment of my device appears the bottom camera is up a tiny bit and top is down a little. If I get a chance I'll throw my phone on the metrology imaging device at work and verify if my eyes are playing tricks on me. Regardless I don't think it's anything to be concerned about.
Checked mine they are very close to centered as you can see in the picture. The dots in the center of the circle represent the center of each circle. Probably hard to see though.

What are you talking about? That has nothing to do with this post
To op;
At first glance I thought you were probably seeing things but after looking at your pics it does seem pretty clear that the camera units are not 'properly' centered in the frame...
It's really up to you as to whether you want to RMA for a replacement. I had to replace mine for different reasons and am glad I did but if they are functioning properly, as you say they are, I might just not bother with replacement.... Definitely weird situation though.
Is it making a drastic difference in the image quality of the photo?
If not, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Ah, yes. I know that the 16MP camera above the flash does move 'cause of OIS but I've seen the top one exactly centred on other phones. Looking more precisely, I saw that the rest position of both the cameras is a bit above the centre (of course both, because they're mounted on one board).

OMG you really did some work on this! Thank you so much. I can see the dots and that's the same problem as mine. The difference is that your error is very, very less as compared to mine. Any problems with the cam so far?

Hey, thanks for looking into it. Would you recommend any sort of check for testing the secondary cam functionality? It's just day 2 for me so I'm sure I haven't digged in the phone as much as you have.

There's absolutely no change in the image quality. The cameras are not broken or anything, just misplaced.
It's just that this being my most expensive smartphone yet, I was a bit concerned. Thanks!
I guess I forget about this now until someone really points some unknown fact about this. Before Valentine's day!

It's a really fancy measuring device I have at work took about a minute to whip up so no big deal at all. And no I have not noticed any issues at all. I get great quality photos and video. If you aren't experiencing problems I would guess your fine but it's your device so your call

I showed it to multiple local repairers and all of them suggested to not go for replacement if I had to use the phone for important things, back then. I spent a lot of time testing both the cameras at the back thoroughly and they had no problem at all. I didn't do anything! I did not get it replaced. I can still see my cameras are misplaced but there's no issue at all. Top class photos and videos, used a lot.
So I can close this with : If you're concerned about your camera's positioning, go get your device replaced. If you're concerned about it's functioning, don't. They're 100% fine. :good:
