The speaker (in the back of the phone, used to media) just stopped working on my G1 last night. Thought maybe a restart would help but no soup. Any thoughts or ideas on whether this is possibly fixable? Or should I just contact HTC and send it back in for repair?
If you're rooted, i'd try wiping/another build, just to be sure, but otherwise I'd do a warranty exchange.

So i'm running CRC's latest ROM and one night my phone locks up, i reboot it and it cant get past the splash screen no matter how i reboot it. So i flash it, sync, set my alarm and goto bed. Everything seemed normal untill the next day when nobody could hear me when i was called, just sounds like rustling. I took the phone home and flashed it with a different ROM but same problem.
Am i looking at a hardware fault or software fault, if so has anyone else experienced it and how did you fix it. Not taking it back to the seller for warrenty as it took 4 mths to get my first one replaced when the screen broke
If flashing with different rom didnt fix, I'd say hardware... You may have to take back, ESPECIALLY if its under warranty.. To fix you would have to open up & that would void warranty & possibly might not fix the problem...
Cheers...
Hi!
I dropped my Hermes (AT&T 8525) couple days ago.... and now speaker doesn't work The phone doesn't ring (but vibrates fine), Music doesn't play (plays fine through a headset), no alarms and reminders , but can talk on the phone just fine.
Had anybody encountered the same problem before? Is it fixable? "Do it yourself" fixable or will I need to send it for repair? How much if sent for repair to AT&T (my phone is not under warranty anymore)?
Thank you!
Owch that hurts !!
Thanx!
I'n kinda hesitating if I should do it myself. Last time, when I bricked my phone (No Radio) I did send it to AT&T and they fixed it for free. Maybe I should try again

Well yes, although it's just a case of pushing the connector back on firmly, if you have a means to get it done without loosing warranty etc then go for that.

Hey there guys,
I was hoping that someone knows someway to revive my phone. The screen is complete toast. The backlight comes on, but that's it. I've flashed it a couple times since its been out to the same ROM I had and the stock BELL rom with no success. I know the phone is still working, but the speaker may also be dead.
Any suggestions?

Got Insurance?
Youve flashed and reflashed, same issue..
Assumed you pulled the battery and attempted power on while plugged into charger, may be battery, doubt it though..
Screen AND speaker as well may be dead?
Back to original question - either claim it stole and have it replaced for a Diamond (depending on your carrier and the availability but alot are reporting the Diamond coming in place of the Touch) or contact your local store/repair center and hope for the best

hello i receive my g1 yesterday. very happy so far. only problem i notice. is that my speaker stops working. what i mean is that one moment the speaker works and after some second i hear a little noise and stops works. after some seconds is working again. and this is happening all the time. does any body had this problem before
Need to post some info in order for us to help.
what info do you need ?
does anybody knows whats the problem with my speaker.? or if somebody has the same problem
the info he means is did you root it? what rom are you on?
I have the same problem. It's happened twice on me now after the phone has been booted up for about 70 hours both times. Pretty much this is what happens for me...
Out of no where I notice that my Loud Speaker volume just weakens tremendously and becomes slightly crackly (very feint) as if it can't play at that volume anymore. After a reboot it works like normal. Although I don't know whats causing the problem. I'm on stock cupcake firmware right now.
Yea addiosamigos was right. I was asking about if your phone is rooted? What rom are you using? Did you do any audio hacks? And anything else helpfull that you might have done to your phone.
Hello sorry for the delay. Yes my phone is rooted and iuse acyanogen 4.01 rom now I didn't do any audio hacks. The problems existed before I rooted the phone. And two day ago my earpiece speaker died also. Don't know what's happening with my g1. Does anybody know where I can find spare parts for my g1

If it has happened on the stock rom and custom roms and wipes or different roms don't solve the problem then most likely a hardware issue. I would contact T-Mobile or HTC for a warranty replacement before trying to fix it yourself. The phone is still under a year old so its still covered.
unfortunately in my country there is no t-mobile and the phone i bought it from ebay

You can still contact HTC and see if they will cover it. The phone is still under a year old.
So I have had a DHD for several months, but sadly I tried my phone today;
It appears that the WIFI has stopped working, and the sound rocker is not working.
I wonder if it's because it's been dropped? It's the only thing that's happened in the past day!
So:
a) Is the "wifi gadget" and also the sound rocker close together - and therefore is it possible that some chip has come loose off the motherboard?
b) What can I do to fix it? I've tried using clockwork rom to reinstall the rom but it's not cleared the problem.
c) I fear it's broken - everything else is working fine - and that I need to speak to insurance tomorrow to get things fixed.
Any thoughts pleased?
My volume up button, WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G hotspot stopped working a while back, without dropping the phone and I've read numerous threads about the same issues experienced by other users, so it's gotta be a weakness in the phone. I got mine fixed under warranty for free, so if it doesn't have any marks after the drop and still under warranty, just claim that it stopped working by itself...
Thank you! That's been resolved beautifully. I'm with vodafone Business, rang them up just, no questions asked. It'll be exchanged for a new phone tomorrow. Just got to go and put the old fashioned original ROM on now. I think I'll certainly feel a huge difference
No worries, glad you're getting it sorted Even after being repaired, my volume up seems to be struggling every now and then still, and numerous reports of the rocker simply coming off of the phone, so yeah, definitely a design/build flaw in that corner of the phone
