MicroP error - Touch HD General

After several months of using my Touch HD without any real problems my backlight went out. Once I got the backlight to come back on I got an error message across the screen stating:
MicropERROR
Microp Version Mismatch 0
Please update latest Microp firmware
After searching the web for the firmware and finding nothing, I looked to see if others were having the same problem. I found that other have hod the same problem. So I contacted HTC and they told me to send the phone in and the would have a tech look at it and see what caused the problem and let me know what the repair was. I just got an email today stating that the problem is the motheboard and that it would cost me $350 to get it fixed because I have a 3rd party ROM installed on my phone because that voids the warranty. After tell the guy on the phone that how am I suppose to know what apps/roms I can and can not load on my phone because the is nothing written anywhere that tells me what or who apps/roms that I can or can not install. He said that he was sorry but there was nothing that he could do. Now I have to pay a $35 triade fee to get my phone back.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a fix for this problem?

Elf "missing Sim" message

Help! after an hour outside i wanted to use my phone and it returned the message "missing SIM" with the missing sim symbol in the top bar.
this has happened before, and the phone also shuts off by itself. it went of to a "repair" shop(for 4 wks), only to return with the message: OS reloaded.
Now it happend again, and in the meantime i received a link from a friend for this website.
i have tried soft and hard reset, it did not help. has anyone else got experience with this problem? was it due to moisture collection in the phone? (cold outside, phone was shielded) or too much temp. difference?
Thanks
It's a done deal
Well just had news from the shop, they now replaced the main board, and last repair they replaced the front and screen... short of the back that makes a whole new phone doesn't it?
a saw thru the many reply's that it is a common fault..
Soon i will put my hands to work on a new ROM load. lets see if that works
CASE CLOSED.

Not waking up after extended sleep (phone not me!)

I bought an Orange locked HD from ebay recently, after following this board for some time, and have successfully unlocked it and am now using it with O2.
I'm very happy with the phone and its functions except for one major problem, it won't wake up after it has been in sleep mode overnight without a soft reset.
It also occasionally freezes while in use but I cannot discern any particular pattern to these occasions and again a soft reset is the only way. I have tried several of the suggestions for freezing elsewhere on this forum (and have done a hard reset) but without success.
It appears elsewhere that this may be a intermittent hardware fault so I have emailed HTC regarding this and await their response but would appreciate any assistance from the forum.
What are my options under HTC's warranty as the phone must be less than 12 months old, is it transferable to a second or third owner?
I'm using stock Orange ROM WWE 1.19.61.1
HTC warranty
bump
I am trying to get a response from HTC under warranty, and started by contacting them by email through their website. They replied saying they couldn't help as I'd not given the IMEI or Serial number (neither were asked for on the email form and I did give an outline of the problem and just asked for advice)
They gave me an activity number and said to respond via http://ContactUs.europe.htc.com/wFrmMailLogin.aspx which brought up my original question but not their reply.
I then sent my IMEI and serial number but am still waiting for a reply. Has anyone managed to get a reply from this 'service'?
Solution to freezing problem requiring soft reset!
I finally got a return number from HTC but as I haven't got an original receipt (bought off ebay) and it might be a software (Orange) problem decided they would probably not repair it FOC.
Decided to install the latest 1.56 ROM using USPL following the excellent guide at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
This has resolved the freezing problem completely. Hopefully this may help others although I've not seen anyone else with an unlocked Orange HD with an O2 sim reporting the same problem.

HTC HD 2 stucked on Htc logo and buzzed 5 times

Hi i have checked the similar post and it does not seems applicable for my problem.
My hd2 has nand wm6.5 and SD android
yesterday was very high temperature and my phone was frozen
and i removed the battery and let it cool down
and i tried to turn on the phone and it stucked on htc logo white screen and buzzing 5 times. It stucked there, i tried remove and put it back on..same thing happen. I leave it alone like 5~10mins and turn it on, it got into WM and i managed to boot android too, and it got stuck after a while...and this morning i tried to restart my android as unable to connect to wifi..and it stucked on htc logo screen again...i did like yesterday wait for 5~10mins sometimes it not working sometimes it works. and until now it does not freeze at all.
(Please note: my hd2 stucked on htc logo and buzzed 5 times were happened before the high temperature happened so i dont think temperature caused something on it..but after high temp it got slight worst)
any idea? do u think reinstall wm6.5 would works? i did hard rest, does not seems working.
Thanks you so much in advance for all your helps and advices
This happened to me back when I was using the SD android roms, It started with the random freezing / crashing with the 5 buzzes then later would not boot at all. Lucky it was still under warranty so I flashed the original SPL and sent it away to get it repaired.

What do you reckon if it is hardware problem or?
if you flashed the original spl again or reflash the wm6.5 rom, would it help?
in your repaired or replacement report from service centre, does they mention if the board problem or?

Yeah it was a hardware problem, when starting the phone I would get a white screen with an error message (can't remember what it said). I called HTC and they deemed it faulty then gave me a code to give my service provider that I'm contracted with. Here's what it said on the order completion sheet after I got it back:
Reported Problem:
White screen with error message, htc deemed faulty.
Repair Order Comments:
22/11/10 MD Component on main PCB failed, supplied replacement unit new IMEI: ******************
Tested O.K. Please note: balance of warranty continues from original handset purchase date. Please retain this document as proof of replacement.
It took about 3 weeks to get it back but Ive had no troubles since then.

but mine does not have error message, when i power on hd2 and it shows white background with htc green logo and the phone buzzes 5 times and stuck there. i have to remove battery and leave it there for few minutes and put it back and power on again..sometimes it will get into wm interface; sometimes it remain same buzzes 5 times and stuck there.
So may be slightly different then yours? or would be the same? you call htc straight or call the service centre? do you have info about whereabout service centre? also self paid delivery or they will arrange courier to pick it up?
thank you so much

Mine started with the buzzing and freezing and sometimes would not boot, then after trying to flash a new ROM it would not boot into WM at all and would display a white screen with some kind of error message. I actually think I bricked the radio somehow because I could still flash ROMS but the update process would freeze while trying to flash a radio. I hope my problem is different from yours so you don't have to send it away.
Firstly I called HTC Australian service centre and told them that I woke up to find my phone would not boot up and would display an error screen (If you flashed a custom ROM or anything don't tell them that). They told me that it is faulty and said that it is covered under my warranty and gave me some kind of repair code. I went to my service provider (Telstra) and told them that HTC deemed my handset faulty then had to fill out a Mobile Device Repair Form and they sent it away.
After about 3 weeks, I got a call from telstra saying that it was ready to pick up from them. I don't know what you would do if it's not covered by some sort of warranty, find a repair shop that does HTC phones? just ask HTC. You should try flashing a stock ROM before anything though, what about reinstalling HSPL?

[Solved] HTC HD2 Touchscreen not working, not responding, frozen, malfunctioning

The Problem: My HTC HD2 touchscreen has progressively gotten worst over 2 months. At first, the keyboard was typing up wrong alphabets, then major function keys begun to malfunction, and later the whole screen. From XDA reviews, I found that changing Radio, WM, or Android ROM do not help.
Solution:
This instruction may apply to Tmobile USA users. In my search for a Do-It-Yourself fix, I searched internet for several days to no avail. Amazon.com sells Touchscreen and Digitizer but their results were inconsistent; the replacement also required time, skills & instruments that I do not have.
Tmobile: Tmobile (800 number) asked me to restore OS, but it did not work. They asked me to take it in the Tmobile store. The store associate looked at the phone, but they did not want to do anything with the phone as I did not buy my phone from Tmobile - they directed me to HTC or a local repair shop. Local repair shop was going to charge $100 for a repair and turn around time of 15 days.
HTC : I called HTC (888 356 2375). As the phone was still under warranty, they offered to take a look at it & repair it. HTC also mentioned that if the warranty is void for any reason, they would charge $39.00 for a triage fee and call me to confirm the repairing cost (in addition to triage fee). HTC mentioned that any illegal softwares found on the device would void the warranty.
Restore to OEM:
I had to restore my softwares to OEM as I installed a newer radio, HSPL, MAGLDR, and a custom windows ROM. To do so, following ROM was flashed :
RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50 .07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship
Flashing above ROM restored ORIGINAL OEM radio, SPL, and Windows ROM. It also removed MAGLDR.
After restoring softwares to OEM, I sent the phone in. The repair was done by HTC without any charge. After sending the phone in, I had my phone back in 1 week - fairly quick service compared to all the other options I had at hand.
In the process, HTC kept me informed via email regularly. I talked to several HTC reps and they were very accommodating and courteous. I mentioned to HTC that my battery drains very easily. Promptly (in 2 days), HTC sent me a replacement battery for free. They mentioned that as long as the phone is under warranty, they will replace accessories ONCE for free. I will buy HTC again despite the touchscreen problem.
Immediately after receiving the phone, I installed newest Radio, HSPL, MAGDLR & my first Android NAND [HD2_Core_Droid_Desire_HD_V1.4_NAND_ONLY_LEO1024_TOUS]. The android ROM is rocking even harder straight out of box.
Enjoy.
Had the same, perfect service from HTC.
Got it back in a box that said "im back" .. Took 4 weeks though.
This made my decision to stay with HTC in the future.
Same problem, possible not yet solved
My UK T-Mobile HD2 started this in December 2010, I found that 3 or 4 hard resets got it going, but the next day it did it again so sent to T-Mobile repair center, they stripped it put it back together. No Fault Found. Updated the firmware (well re-installed it as there was no newer version avaialble at the time and sent it back to me.
It worked a treat for 5 weeks then the problem was back. Sent away again, Firmware update. No Fault Found (T-Mobile had now released the 3.14 ROM) so I did get an update this time, again came back working. Even better this time as the new radio version allowed me to run an SD Android Build.
You know where this is going, lasted 3 or 4 weeks, same again, Back to T-Mobile Store, this time I did not try a hard reset prior to taking it in, so they could see the fault, I did one reset in store and the fault persisted as it always did after the first two or three, and then off to the repair centre again.
Its due back in the next day or two, No Fault Found!!! Firmware updated
I guess it will be going back again a 3 to 5 weeks.
Perhaps I should drop an e-mail to HTC to see if they can help.
Do you know what they did to yours, did they replace anything?
Cheers Bashy...
My display was soo broken that an firmware upgrade didnt help, not even for a second.
On the repair note (0eu) it said that my screen was replaced.
I had the same problems as in the OP.
Running beter then ever now.

No doubt, Tmobile attempts to be helpful. But, I consider HTC, as a manufacturer, to be well-prepared to deal with their own product's issues. If you have these problems repeatedly, I recommend you contact HTC directly. They may send you a new replacement instrument altogether. I had several positive surprises from HTC.
HTC No Longer Repairs HD2
I know this is an old thread, but I have an HD2 with a digitizer that quit working that I wanted fixed. I just called HTC and was told that they have not been able to find a proper way to fix the phone and that they would not be able to repair it even if I paid them. This came from the customer service manager. Both the service rep and I were left without words. He couldn't believe that this was the response as he has never heard of such a thing. HTC has taken the HD2 out of their repair database. Seems pretty sketchy to me. Obviously they know about the problem and it sounds like they should issue a recall on the product if it consistently breaks on people with normal use and they have no way of repairing it.
HD2 screen not working
They fixed mine on Feb 22, 2011 for free under a warranty. I suggest you do not give them the diagnosis of digitizer is not working. Instead, just tell them the problems you have and let them tell you what is wrong with the phone.
If is going to cost an arm and a leg to fix the phone or a 1 month of outage from cellphone, I recommend you get a new phone from Craigslist or eBay. HD2 are dirt cheap now. Good luck.
hd2 is dead

Yep - i'm not surprised. I purposely bought the HD2 to get dual boot setup. Lasted two months and then screen stopped responding when screen locked. Eventually could not unlock at all. I stripped the phone, put in new screen and digitiser and new keypad buttons and then flashed back to original rom too.
GUESS WHAT??? STILL BUSTED.
So you can try many fixes found online, but I reckon once it busted don't waste your money just bin it.
SAD

From what i've seen too, it is very difficult to actually repair the digitizer without causing new secondary problems. I paid my repair shop over 155 usd to repair an hd2 with usb and touchscreen problems and they just replaced the virtually the entire hd2 (mainboard+LCD+digitizer). And it still had problems in the end!

hey dood, i had nand on my US tmoble HD2 touch screen went out, i have a few posts you should follow if you are going for warranty.
i had to download the software from the tmoble website..... You will need an IMEL number for this ...... or go and try to find your stock rom on the interwebs...... have a secondary SD card (not the one in your phone) follow the SPECIFIC steps and drop your new file on the new sd card and replace it with the one in your phone then follw normal booting steps in the tri color screen.,..... i do have a post that is a quck rundown with a little bit more info........ but the main thing is.... if you send it for warranty you have to put YOUR (country/carrier specific) stock rom on or they will fully charge you....... hope this helps....... other than that its a phone issue i belive its the screen digitizers.... so if not under warranty thats what it will cost to fix
Thank you
Thank you. that helped me as well.

[Q] Help with screen turning ON

My Desire HD with both, froyo and gingerbread has the same problem, all with oficial roms: When I turn the screen off the phone just turns on back again. I sent to the SAT about 4 times now and the only thing they do is "Software update", is it a hardware problem? Can I change it for a new one? How can I do so? Im so desperate about all this problems because I am not able to use it because battery runs out in half a day. Please! SOS! Thank you every1.

This happens, without failure, every single time you turn off the screen? If that's the case, i can't see how the technicians at the service center haven't been able to reproduce the problem after a full wipe/update..
I'd say this has to be a hardware fault unless the service people haven't done anything at all. If this keeps happening regardless of factory resets/software updates, I can't see how this is a soft problem.
I'd ask you to try a few different roms and such, but I assume you are unrooted and uninterested in all that? If so, there's not really much you'll be able to fix for yourself. I would try to send this in as a hardware issue and try to get it repaired/replaced, makeing sure to explain that this "software update" **** they're doing isn't working.
Tried everything
I write here cos ive tried everything. Tried all roms and now back on vodafone oficial rom. Problems on all. I sent it with faulty hardware on the repair sheet and wrote:
GPS module.
Light sensor module.
Screen ok?
Radio OK?
And many more things, they just "Software updated"

That sucks. I've worked at shops that sell mobiles, and I've seen this many times: The technicians get an error report and end up just doing a "software update" (eg nothing) and ship it back.
I think the problem for the main part is that they recieve so many inane error reports (poor battery or something stupid like that) from customers who have no business handling any piece of electronics that they just have to go the easy way and not really do anything.
In this case I'd say it's a gross oversight on their part if this problem happens every time you turn off the screen. If there's any way for you to underline the fact that you are fairly competent with these things and feel that it is a hardware fault, and that their goddamn "software updates" don't work, you should do that.
sry I don`t have a solution about your problem but the thread title describes also my problem.
how can I turn the screen ON from the other buttons also? (not only from power)
