Hi guyz!
I hope you can help me ... since a few days I am missing the common HTC task manager in upper right corner of the Windows taskbar. The place now is just empty.
I think this is only a specific application which has to be started, but for some reason the application doesn't start anymore. Can anybody help me? Which application do I need or is there an existing CAB file which installs/restores the common HTC task manager?

Can you find the task manager on Start -> Settings -> System -> Task Manager?
If you do check the "Enable Quick Menu on Today screen" option on the Button tab.
Wow! Thx! That solved it! Never thought it would be so easy ...

I really would like to assign my "comm manager" button to the task manager for closing programs. How can i do this?
Thanks for any help you can give me
Start -> Settings -> Buttons ?
I tried that. unfortunately neither memory nor task manager is an option for buttons. its too bad because i really dont need a button for the comm manager
Go here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnppcgen/html/ppc_tcuts2.asp?frame=true
read about making a shortcut to Memory/Running programs.
Make a .lnk file as directed, place in your start menu, and then you will have that option available in Start -> Settings -> Buttons
V
Using that information you can make a shortcut with this;
28#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,4,2<CR>
Copy the above text into notepad and "save as", Running Progs.lnk
Copy the file to the PPC into the Windows\Start Menu folder and then link it to a hard key.
I used AE Button Plus to map task manager to the windows key which also works well.
thanks alot. I'm glad there was a solution that didn't include more software. I really loaded my 8125 up with tweaks and it made it really slow and unstable. I'm really happy wiht the 8525 as it seems to have native support for alot of the tweaks people have been doing on the 8525 and i would hate to slow it down with lots of programs.
Hi
I used to have the Wizard before I get the Hermes - I also used to have a cool reboot button and a great task switcher menu too with the option to close programs in memory from that menu.
Can anyone point me to the same programs or alternatives that work?
Thanks
Adam

Help, I lost the "settings" shortcut on the startmenu. Is there a way to get it back without having to hard reset the device?

You may want to take a look at this tool, one of the most valuable tools I've installed on my Polaris: 'QuickMenu' of Chinese origin. It replaces the startmenu on the windows logo, while the original windows startmenu is still available under 'Start'.
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-quickmenu-v2-7.html
Functions:
- Cascading StartMenu (fully configurable)
- Cascading Settings menu (windows mobile settings)
- TaskManager (easy switch and close functions from the startmenu)
- TaskSwitcher (create alt-tab shortcut to QM-active-next which you can map to a hardbutton)
- Hibernate/Suspend/Reboot from startmenu
- Execute ...
- SIP panel selector
- Bluetooth toggle (connectable, discoverable, off)
- Batterystatus (in percentage)
- Memorystatus (internal or memorycard)
There's no installer, unzip the archive to a 'quickmenu' folder in your program files and run the exe once. If you don't like it, delete the folder. The only issue I had with it on my previous device was that the 'Settings' menu which links to WM's personal, system and connection settings didn't work correctly, possibly because it was mapped to the 'Settings' function, in stead of the dutch 'Instellingen'. The rest of the functions worked fine.
My Polaris has an english system and QM works perfectly. Great little tool.

Thanks for this. A top tool.
Indeed a great tool, but can you disable the battery status on the upper right corner ? It is messing with the task manager and i cant close or select which program i want.
I tried disabling it from the settings of the program itself, and the battery status gets removed, but i still cant see the task manager icon.
Go into Settings/Task Manager/Button tag and re-check the "Enable Quick Menu on Today Screen"

hey guys
first... sry for my bad englisch^^
so...i installed the new panel manager, but since i installed it the task manager icon in the right corner of the screen in the taskbar is not more displayed and if i press on that place nothing happens
i tryed also QuickMenü and SPB pocketplus but...the same(i dont know if they palce there a icon...but quickmenu changed my hole startmenu...)
is there any fix or something like that?...i´m using charon99´s lite&fast 1.3 with UC...
I have the same problem, made me switch back to the old panel manager, atleast until there is a fix for this.
You ca see the task manager button really shortly when you press the X, but it still does not work.
Does anybody have a solution?
yes i changed after i noticed that too to the old manager...but now i am back on the new manager because it is faster
at the moment i put the Windows Taskmanager in the launcher...so i do "the same" but i got to go over corner xD
This has happened to me too. Im not that bothered, but it does come in handy. Are there any fixes at all?
i searched a lot....but found nothing :S
Could somebody with any knowledge of the device investigate how to get the "task manager" back on the panels with the new panel manager?
Have tried switching the "put button on screen" (dont know precise names because of Dutch phone) option in settings, taskmanager and then button. This removes and adds the button in most panels (not "on the road") with the old panel manager, however with the new one it does not work. I also cant find any "process" with the advanced task manager that seem to correlate with this.
Again, does anybody have any ideas??
Thanks
Hey guys, How to Install old task manager? I don't like the new panel manager. It is fast, but I want task manager on the top of every panels.
Please help!
if you want your taskmanager back then you have to install the old panel manager...there is no way atm that the task manager works with R3A panel manager...
Could you please provide me an URL link to download the old panel manager. I don't want to do a Hard reset!
Hello everyone!
I was looking for a taskmanager hd2, allowing programs to terminate a time after you step in x.
There is a Task Management under Settings, but I can not put the quick link on the home.
You tell me a good task manager or add the link I mentioned as actively managed in the home?
Thank you very much!
everything you have to do is use File Explorer, check for taskmgr.exe or something similar, and select under Menu->Edit->Copy.
Then, go to \Windows\StartMenu\Programs and paste a shortcut of the taskmgr.exe app.
You will now have the TaskManager in the start menu.
If you want to add a link to the Home tab, you can see the Task Manager app. in the list of 'Add programs' once you do the stept I've told about earlier
Thank you very much!

you can also use dutty's taskmanager. This is a plugin that replaces the "x" button and really closes down an application

And it also lets you very easily switch between running applications, a bit like the taskbar on your desktop
I used Dutty for a while, but the X is often not available ...
I ended up going back to HandySwitcher. The icon is a little small which makes activating a little hard but at least you can use it from anywhere.
Paul.
Showcase, gentlemen (to be found on here)?
