gps not working - solution - XPERIA X1 General

hi. i want to share with you my fight with xperia gps.
One day my xperia stop receiving data from satelittes. i do hard reset, reinstall rom (different types), install new radio and nothing...
i found many topics about gps - how to erase ephemeride, how to fix quickgps, etc., and nothing. so i get to suppose that this is hardware problem.
i check web for solution and i found how to reassembly xperia
http://pockethacks.com/xperia-x1-disassemble-videos/
next thing to do was to remove gps antenna and little bend back springy connections. then i reassembly all and now it works!
maybe this tread help someone. cheers!

Need help on GPS and SIRF/NMEA modes!

Hi all,
I have a problem... The GPS on my Athena worked, but I tried to fix it I wanted to enable change the power mode to Trickle, so I installed SirfDemoPPC , changed the output mode to SIRF binary, and finally decided not to change the power mode, so I just hit Cancel, and changed the protocol back to NMEA.
Now I can't connect to the GPS anymore, Tomtom can't see it, and I don't know what is going on. I tried to connect SirfDemoPPC to all COM ports without success...
Please help!

There are two answers: Try looking in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308606
Alternatively, try doing a hard reset (after backing up your data). The suggesiton is that setting GPS software to Sirf disables the GPS temporarily.
Don't use SirfDemo anymore - test out the GPS using GPSView or GPS Tuner.

Hi,
Don't worry about using SirfDemo anymore - I swear I'll never touch this piece of sh*i again (provided I get my GPS back to life).
I tried hard resetting, the problem is still the same. I will try removing the battery and letting the PDA lose its current. I read this *might* put the GPS receiver back into its initial state.
I also tried to contact the guy who made SirfTech, and try to understand what the error messages mean.

OK, I removed the battery for a night and now the GPS receiver came back to life... Problem solved
Something tells me I won't try any soon to change anything in the receiver
Regards,
Silviu
i did the same: removed battery for overnight
but GPS still not fixing

Hi,
What exactly is the problem: the GPS can't get a fix, or your programs (Tomtom etc.) cannont connect to the GPS?
In my case the problem was that the programs couldn't access the GPS anymore.
If your programs see the GPS but can't get a fix, it's a different problem.
Hope this helps,
Silviu

hi, thanks for reply...
the GPS can't fix at all after 20 minutes....of course outdoor under clear sky
I'm using M700 Glofiish with built in GPS SiRF Star III chipset
I also tried using GPStuner as recommended above...still can't fix, not sure if it's software or hardware problem
one thing, i used SiRFtech...
1. there are signals from "Find Port & Baud"
2. Protocol: NMEA
3. Baudrate NMEA 0 Effective 0
4. Errors FE=0 PE=0 OE=0 QOE=0
???
any idea?
Thanks so much
Try the free GPSView program, that is the best for getting a FIX I find.
Make sure you use QuickGPS to download the data first as well.
Hold it up above your head and wave it at the sky?
I think there might be a problem with your unit, there are several people on the Eten forum who had this problem and had their M700 replaced. See http://eten-users.eu/index.php?showtopic=6586 and generally speaking http://eten-users.eu/index.php?showforum=42

try reflashing the radio on the device, GPS firmware is all controlled by that, so flash it and cross your fingers

VoIP hack and GPS?

Hi there,
I installed the VoIP hack for WM6.1 to get the VoIP feature, so that worked, can use Voxalot over HSDPA/WiFi etc now. But.... Guess what... GPS is not working anymore.
So I found a few files that should enable GPS and VoIP, but still GPS is not working. TomTom say 'no GPS device found'...
Anyone here got VoIP and GPS working on his/her Xperia? Would you please tell me what files I should use?
Argh, that's happened to mine too. Just when I thought I was done with hard resets!
Yeah... hehe... But still, anyone got a solution for this?
i have the same problem! ARGH! im gonna brake my xperia in half, im tierd of hard reseting all the time. have anyone solved the problem yet?
This seems worthy of a *bump* since it's an X1 only problem that doesn't seem to have gotten any attention anywhere at all yet; and also VOIP would be cool.
In addition to the bump, I've followed the instructions from this topic and I got VoIP to work WITH GPS. Howeverrrrr.. As I've posted overthere, unlike the 'normal' suggested cabs, the sound now comes from the external speaker, which of course sucks. I want it to come from the internal speaker.
When you use a Bluetooth headset there is no problem at all, but who wants to walk around with one of those all day long? Was wondering if anyone had a fix for that...!

Hello my friend.
First update quick gps.Test the gps program you have in an outside area.
Then you can use htc gps tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360477
it works for our mini.
Just try these and tell me if the problem is fixed
Hi nsourm
Well dude, I already do all you told me, but i got the same results.. nothing happens, also i made a Hard Reset, update the GPS data, run the app, still nothing
i attach some screens for you review.
HI Guys!!!
I FIX THE GPS!!!!!!!!!!!, the problem, the antenna cable was loose, I reconnect it again and it Worked 100%
So could you share with us, where the antenna is located?
A photo maybe?
Please take a look to this video -> HTC Aria Disassembly, you will see EXACTLY the same layout in the Mini;
The coaxial cable for the GPS is the blue one, the white one is for the WiFi, the WiFi antenna is located in the top yellow cover of the mini (the one that protects the camera and the speaker), the GPS antenna i believe is located in the same location.
Remember I don't identified it, because my problem was the GPS blue coaxial cable was loose, I only reconect it and solve my problem.
Best Regards
Wow! You have dared to disassemble your phone!
Great that problem is solved.

I'm desperated!
Pleaaaaaaaaaaaase!
HEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!
Thanks in advance
Did you have install Android system ?

GPS doesnt work

My gps antenna doesn't work. Through an app called GPS status i can see that my phone finds some setellites (15-20) bit it doesn't connect to any of them. My phone got opened and repaired (broken screen) a couple of times by not very expert people. I would like to know if there's a way to establish if it's a software or hardware problem. Thanks in adbance. (Paranoid android, stock kernel)

Is GPS broken? Please help!

For the first time wanted to make use of GPS in my HTC Leo. However it desn't seem to function at all!
Tried on many (installed as NatveSD) Android ROMs, and also on WM6.5 "Energy" which is in the NAND.
Please, any idea?
Probably a hardware problem. As I remember: few years ago changed the mainboard and maybe during this procedure forgot to connect some cables or sth simillar...
However now I hardly remember even how to open the phone's case...
Please provide with some schema, how to disassemble the HTC Leo and where to look for GPS module!
P.S. The phone's whole other functionality (except GPS) is perfect!
---------EDIT:
Video instructions from here helped me to disassemble the phone, however GPS module and its cable look well. Well, what to check next?
In general, HOW to TEST GPS module hardware from within working ROM? At home it is rather hard to catch satellite signal through the window...
HOW LONG need Leo's GPS hardware read pure sat signals (without internet support)?
