I just install Haykuro's hero with rosie. Now I'm wondering how you do AppstoSd would you be able to use this method http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Haykuro_Apps_to_SD or is there something else you have to do.
I used appstosd app by marcus and it work for me. Takes 2 seconds very simple. Just make sure you reboot after useing the app.
Thank you. I used that and it works perfectly.
i had initially used that prog but didnt find it as effective
do the speedup 2.0 thing there is a way and now i'm on 88 mb free.
Im trying out the apps2sd right now, to see if it works with Hero with no issues.
apps to sd
does apps to sd 2 or apps to sd 1st app work on the hero build???
does anyone know or do we need to do it the way Haykuro explains it on his site?

Thats because all the hero roms only have the ability to use symlinks while apps to sd 2 uses the unionfs method.
i tried appstosd a few minutes ago, it copied all my apps to the SD card it left me with 83MB Free! but now when i install an app the 83MB are bein use :]

Is there anyway I can do it without using ADB?
I followed Haykuro's procedure for apps2sd, followed every direction to a t, but now i'm having a boot loop. Any ideas? I'm running 6.0r1 prepping for Hero.

So I'm running a rom with app2sd built in, but i can't figure out how to disable it. With a US HD2, there is so much internal storage room, I don't see any advantage to putting apps on the sd card, and some apps don't work from the sd card.
Is there an easier way than going into manage apps, and individually choosing move to phone for each app?
If you have SpareParts installed on your rom, go to App2sd option and set location to Internal and see if that solves it.
I have spare parts, but it doesn't mention app2sd
Have you got an Ext2 partition on sd card? If not, app2sd+ doesn't work for you.
At least that's what I think is the case here..
Else, is there an app called app2sd? Change settings in that app.
Maybe download an app from the market to change the settings.

That worked perfectly, I almost didn't try it, since it was installed with the rom and the rom is brand new (latest typhoon cm7)

Real Football data 7.44MB
14.3MB apk 6.87MB
ArcMedia apk

Is there any way to use Apps2SD type of thing?
I assume you have moved those that can be to your sd card already?

May be a silly question but do you clean temp files of apps?
You can also try Move2SD Enabler from this post.
It allows you to move certain phone only apps to SD.
Eg. Fast 5 will become 264kb instead of 22.7mb on the ROM. The rest is installed to SDcard.
Remember to thank the guy if you do.

It changes a string for the installation location to be on the sd card.
So that apps that normally install to rom can be installed to sd.
However, it's not retroactive. After you changed the installation location to external memory, you can manually move apps to sd by going to settings and applications.
It's on the market but that version only works on Froyo. This one works of on gingerbread.

Now my phone is using just 200mb/380mb
I've had my Evo 4G for almost a year now and I really havent felt the need to upgrade the ROM on it, which is surprising for me since I usually put a custom OS on my phones the day I buy them (coming from a windows mobile background) .
The only issue I have that I would like to rectify is app space. I keep getting the low disk space warning and telling me to remove apps.
I was wondering, if I root the device is there a way to push apps that do not have "move to SD" enabled over to the SD anyway? Facebook and Twitter for instance would be much better off on the SD since they build up huge data caches and need to be cleared all the time when on the phones memory.
Or, is there a way to re-size the phones memory allocations without doing a full re-flash if it's rooted?
Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated. Thanks!
You can do this stock as of froyo. You can do this through the applications setting menu or use an app that will help. I've used sdmove
If you root you could use a script created by darktremor. There's a thread on here if you search for darktremor a2sd. It frees up 3/4 of your internal memory, it works pretty well

I tried that app a while ago and it really wasn't that big of a help. Certain apps (like Facebook and twitter) still could not be moved.

Thanks! I will take a look at that. It may be just what I need.
If you root you can partition your sd card and use dta2sd and it will move all your apps to the extsd even ones with widgets it works great .
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Rooting your phone with a ROM that's at least 2.2 will allow for app2sd use, however, you do not have to ROOT to use app2sd. If you do not wish to ROOT your phone, You need to run at least stock version 2.2 to be able to use app2sd.
I had a HERO that ran 2.1 and app2sd did not work, then I got my EVO with 2.2 and app2sd worked fine. Neither the HERO or EVO were rooted at the time.
Also remember that some apps must stay resident to work and can not be moved to your sd. Many of the app2sd apps will show you what can and can't be moved.
Good Luck.....
So I've got the froyo now and had a problem and had to start over. Before the restart I had saved quit a few apps to my SD Card... clean install don't detect them. Do I need to just format card and reinstall from market or what?
I did a clean install too. Did you use titanium back to save the apps? Thats how I restored all my apps.

No, I moved them to SD in the Settings>Applications>Manage Apps menu. Figured that would do it.
Why would you use apps2sd when link2sd exists?
It is far superior!

I have to agree here. Check out my experience with apps2sd versus link2sd here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218518
However...
Link2sd now can't keep lib files on the sdcard thru a reboot...

My lib files are still linked. but maybe thats the problem with my phone freezing 20 times a day now. IDK. Hopefully an update to the update will come soon cuz Im sick to death of it freezing.
I spent about 2 hours last night trying to get Link2SD to work on my flipside and could not. I followed the guide and set a main FAT32 partition and a secondary ext2 partition and the phone rejected and told me to make teh 2ndary FAT32 so i did that and then the phone rejecting it and said something else it.
Anybody care to explain how exactly they got this working? I tried searching through the main post but thats 100 pages of questions with few answers and I coudln't find anything that helped.
Mine was a hassle the first few times I tried on eclair as well. I just kept changing the size of the partition until finally it worked. I couldnt tell you the exact steps as it was long ago.

Completely reformat your card to fat32, then using partition magic, create the second partition as FAT. Put card in phone, reformat, run Link2SD, and reboot phone.
RESTART Link2SD and go hog wild moving your programs to sd card...
If you backed up ypur card to your pc, copy over the folders to the sd card.
I know reformatting is extra (uneeded?) Steps, but it worked juat fine for my wife's phone. A restart gives her almost 58 megs free...
I'm sitting here with 13mb free on my phone and 3gb free on my card... Tried to install a 400kb app and keep getting "not enough memory"... what gives?
I went in and uninstalled 2 apps from my SD card and now it lets me install that app.

Will try it, I was talk to use App2SD and thats what I have now.
Im using Link2SD on my phone after update to 2.2 I seem to have less free internal memory on Froyo then I did on Eclair. Must be more ATT bloatware on the Froyo update then the phone had on it stock.

Any advice getting it set up? I am using Easeus and formatted the card (8gb) and put main partition to 7gb Fat32 and secondary to 1gb Fat32 (guide said Ext2 but when i opened phone it said to use Fat32) and when I open app I get "Mount scrip cannot be created. mount: Invalid argument"
I'm confused, and I haven't updated my flip side yet, but why would one use link2sd on Froyo? Isn't Froyo, suppose to allow us to install apps on the sd card?
My experience to why you want to use link2sd.
I successfully updated to the motorola froyo official release. Im loving how much faster everything runs. Able to root successfully with superoneclick and used titanium backup to remove att crapware. However here is my issue. I used link2sd previously on eclair. Had about 50+ apps on phone with about 40% give or take free. So I was so excited about the apps to sd in froyo. Well, I tried putting back all my apps, using an app I got from market for apps2sd and link2sd for those unable to move per the app. With link2sd, I lost no phone space but as the apps that could be moved got moved to the sd via the market app, my phone space went BYE BYE. Down to 0% free. WTH is going on? I just did a factory reset and am going to try just link2sd and see what happens. Anyone else running into this problem or am I alone in this?
I am linked with all my previous apps, plus have downloaded more. Still at 40% memory free. HTH
