having trouble using web2go / tzones on wing? - Wing, P4350 General

I am having trouble trying to use web2go/tzones on my wing. I got 9.99 web2go plan and when i try to visit any site using internet explorer i always get a message that I don't have the right type of internet plan and I need to upgrade it in order to use internet on my wing. I have used both wap.voicestream.com and epc.tmobile.com with and without proxy 216.155.165.50:8080 it seems like tmobile systems are recognizing my phone type and not letting me use web2go on my wing. I cannot even update weather on my phone. Is there any additional settings I can use or anything else I can do to get web2go working. I only need data plan for very light browsing so I don't want to sign up for expensive plans.
Thanks

If you have web2go, you can NOT use epc, you have to use wap.
On my Wing, under Connections:
Name it something
Modem type is Cellular Line GPRS
Access point name is wap...
User, pass, domain is all blank
Remove any type of proxy settings.
It may just be easier to delete everything you have now and just add that.
Hope that helps.

T-Mobile Data Hack & epc.tmobile.com
I continue to use T-Mobile Web at $5.99 a month and I just installed Ivan's Windows Mobile 6.5 Alpha 11 and added the new APN - epc.tmobile.com and it works just fine. In fact, when I installed his ROM the first time I had no problems accessing GPRS, but the next time I installed it, I couldn't access the internet. Under Connections 6.5 had "wap.voicestream.com" , "[email protected]" and "[email protected]". It was there I added the new APN and ran IE6 Mobile. All that said, if there is a difference other than the price between T-Mobile Web and web2go, I don't know. Before all the changes were made to data plans, I assumed T-Mobile Web was unlimited and I use the hell out of it when I was at work listening to then XM radio and SkyFM. I do know over on MyT-Mobile as on the Wing you can monitor the amount of data used, whether they're enforcing a FAP on the new data plans, I simply don't know. I've never had any problems with my plan and have noted the new APN is faster than the old voicestream wap. Take care!

have sed all ways of web2go apn connections internet2 epc etc. As of today when I try to visit a website, it redirect me to wipcore.t-mobile.com or something like that and it says that I must subscribe to the webConnect but why would I want to pay more and do that? Any help/ideas what I can do?

What is the difference is anyone of them better then the other or what is the deal. I have the pda unlimited plan which setting should i use?
An oft asked question (by me, in fact) ... and after much research, it is not clear (to me) that there is one correct response. General consensus seems to be that if the wap.cingular settings work for you, use them and don't worry about it (but you may want to not use "medianet" settings, since those have proxy settings associated with them, and the proxy settings can cause heartburn trying to use wifi and some sites).
Beyond that, purportedly there are some sites that may only work with the isp.cingular setting instead of the wap.cingular setting, but I have not found them (except, at times, the yahoo mail beta site). After much deliberation on the issue, I just use wap.cingular (with no proxy settings) and it works great, and fast.
For some old discussions on the subject, check out these threads:
-- on the cingular forums
-- on these forums
I had great luck on the mediamax plan using wap.cingular without the proxy. I did however find one exception that forced me to switch to isp.cingular and the higher cost unlimited pda connect plan. outlook web access using the html browser did not work well for me with wap.cingular, with or without the proxy. it would log me out every few minutes and I would have to log in again. it seemed to have something to do with network address translation and switching between two towers. not sure, but it is much better using isp.cingular.
this was the only exception I found.
It's all very cloak and dagger isn't it? Gotta love the phone companies: they'll do anything to not give you what you want.
Here's the deal: wap.cingulargprs.com uses a shared address with NAT; isp.cingulargrps.com assigns a public IP. Neither of these plans support inbound Internet traffic to the client (that is, they don't support push). For that you will need an unlimited PDA data plan, convince someone to add a certain feature code to your plan. and then configure the "internet" apn. The downside with going that route is that your PDA is now subject to all of the security risks that any computer with a public Internet address would be at risk for.

Quick Question Help is appreciated!

So I have read plenty of times about people access the Tmobile data without having a data package. Currently I do not have a data package, I took it off my plan. I wanted to know if someone could help me out with the connection settings for a Tmobile wing. I keep finding instructions for free internet but its for the dash and i dont have a couple options they are asking for. I have a Wing with touch it 2.3. What do i need to do, delete the old settings and add new connections?? help would be awesome, anybody that is working with the wing or that rom that could help, or point me to a thread, i would appreciate it tremendously. Also, i'm in Orlando and i have seen posts of people here in orlando with the dash getting free internet.
Thanks guys!
I've always had the data plan, so I don't know. But here's a post I found in another forum

4. You can send MMS or pictures via POP email
These setting will allow virtually everything to work with the $4.99/5.99 T-Mobile Web Plan. Using alternate setting can work for somethings but not all.

Thats just about correct. I actually just figured it out before you posted. Thank you anyway.
BTW any possibilities of making the homepage google?
Im answering my own question but thought others would find it usefull too.
To do this you have to edit the registry. HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/AboutURLs. Then there is a value for "home" Change it to whatever. You have to put http://
The dataplan is only $20, lol.. I'm gonna laugh when these guys try and get "free" internet then all of sudden end up with a $400 data bill.
For years, I've been paying close to $40 a month for the data plan ... so when they took it down to $19, I'm not complaining.
I had the data plan when it was $9.99 or $11.99 @ month and all the sudden they canceled out the whole data plan and stuck me with t-zones. I got back on the data plan but was bummed they screwed me over. In case anyone doesn't know the t-mobile data package comes with "Hotspots" but you have to configure it on a separate web page. Good Luck getting CS to explain how to do it they will try and sell you another package along with the $19.99 fee. But "Hotspots" is part of the data package already.
Well, I had the data plan for a long while and realized that the amount that i use it, it truely isnt worth the money for the amount that i use it. I am on a flex pay account, prepaid, so i pay for my service a month in advance and I keep no money in my flex account, which is where they deduct charges that i pay for per service (data, minutes after i exceed my total, text messages etc) I dont know how they would charge me if that was the case
I use the data plan like crazy... various of my email accounts come to my phone directly and I use IM and all sorts of craziness on there ... so I would die without it. hah
is it free???
someone plz reply,
i dont have any data plan on my tmob wing, and i did setting in wap according to above and i am able to get internet,
i have question is it free??
i just started using it recently and i have not got any bill yet,do they charge for this???
help plz i am newbie did search but couldnt fine any post which say free...
plz
for someone using open touch 3.0 biggy can they help with the proper settings? i am unable to get this to work. when i have it setup i goto IE and load pages the error i always get is Error not authorized.....
worked flawlessly thx

CABs for T-mobile U.S. GPRS and MMS settings

I put together these cabs for T-mobile data plans. I have the $5.99 plan so I haven't tested the other ones, but people have told me they work.
the $5.99 cab automatically sets up the proxy.
All the cabs set up connections so that GPRS is not used unless no other connections (WIFI or Activesync) are available.
MMS (for ArcSoft MMS 4.2.8.1 but it probably works for other versions) sets size limit to 600k and will not resize pictures (I think T-mobile limits MMS data to 300k).
Cool, members are always looking for tmob setup cab's!
So, gprs internet2.voicestream.com is part of the 29.99 plan cab?
Yes:
29.99 = internet2.voicestream.com
39.99 = internet3.voicestream.com
I think they must've changed prices...
Which one do I use if I have the unlimited data for $20/month?
Thanks

I'm now on that $20 plan and have been using the internet2 connection...
This was the ONLY way I could get the 5.99 t-zones plan to work on my windows mobile 6.1 tilt. Great work man!
Close, but....

Well, it half works. Before using your CAB, I couldn't get Opera Mobile 8.65 to connect at all through the proxy on my HTC Touch Cruise. Now, I can make normal connections in Opera through the proxy, but still can't get HTTPS to connect. No problems connecting with wifi.
UPDATE 10/29/07: I had occasion to revisit these cabs when my friendly neighborhood IT group screwed up my network connections with some automated script they forced down my phone. After running tmobyjoe599.cab again, things were all fixed. I also had no problems with HTTPS and Opera.
I think t-mobile blocks the port on the $5.99 plan. HTTPS uses port 443. You could try some different ports and if you find one that works, let me know and I'll update the CAB.
The settings for Tmo's proxy are:
HTTP 216.155.165.50:8080
WAP 216.155.165.50:9201
Secure WAP 216.155.165.50:9203
Socks 216.155.165.50:1080216.155.165.50:1080
and this is what my system shows. The Tmo proxy is unauthenticated, so I tried to test against it using my laptop and wifi. Manually setting the FF3 HTTP proxy to 216.155.165.50:8080, and leaving all the other proxy options blank, I had no trouble bringing up HTTPS pages.
maybe it has something to do with the access point (wap.voicestream.com)

That's not really an access point. It's a conventional proxy which serves to restrict most anything but web or mail access, but otherwise doesn't restrict traffic.

Would someone kindly explain what the above cabs are for? I don't want to make any assumptions, but do the cabs provise software to make an unlocked HTC Wizard work as if its a T-Mobile device at the various rate plans - assuming your sim has that plan?
Is the $5.99 the prepaid plan?
I just bought used MDA and am using my prepaid SIM. Having trouble with tzones working - though admittedly it doesn't do much.
Thanks in advance for the help.
tried but didnt seem to work on vs 24 rickywatts 6.1
does this still work?? i have a tmobile wing with touch it rom
The only way to find out if it works for YOU is to try it. Please let us know....
great work!!
Works like a charm! I thought they might have shut down the proxy for the 5.99 plan. Is there a MMS cab that I didn't see? Again thanks alot.
Should I delete all my existing proxies?
I have proxy settings in
settings..Connections....Proxy
should I remove them before applying the tmobyjoe CAB?
what is the "new-inet:1159" proxy server in the Kavana ROM? Is that just rubbish or what?
Also, I don't understand why there are so many proxies and connections. Is there something I can read to understand the relative significance of
"work" "TMobile MMS" "Tmobile Data" "WAP Network" "Secure WAP Network" and "The Internet"
and then the various proxies that route to these various networks?
I don't get why it is so complicated and why I need so many networks and proxies and so on.
i can recieve my yahoo emails giving me cannot connect with this settings?
i can recieve my yahoo emails giving me cannot connect with this settings? i had it working but now its not connecting to recive my emails
Hey everyone. I've added the $5.99 service to my account and I've tried both manually entering the settings and I've tried the CAB for the $5.99 service. No joy...
I can't download email and when trying to browse the web at all GPRS connects, the page tries to load and then I get the following error:
"Error: Requested content
'www.google.com/' cannot be accessed.
You do not have access to the site."
What am I doing wrong?
Also, in the GPRS Settings do I want PAP Auth. or CHAP Auth. selected? It's on PAP Auth.
I live in Denver, CO, if it makes any difference.
Thanks!
EDIT: Interestingly enough it's working now... of course something else had to break, I can't connect to the net via USB now. No biggie, never used that anyway.

MYTOUCH use HERO ROM cant use TMOBILE internet

OK guys,i paid for plan TMOBILE WEB $9.99
with this plan i set up the APN is epc.tmobile.com for any fone like IPHONE,ORIGINAL HERO it work like a charm, but how come with MY TOUCH and use with HERO rom i cant do that, its always show me the screen upgrade to 24.99 plan
if you dont believe what img oign to say, load up the mytouch wtih the factory rom and see what happens.
t-mobile has a list of imei's for the mytouches and forces them onto the 24.99 plan.
Strange.
Verify your APNs and perhaps upgrade your plan.
You could even "claim" to T-Mobile that you have certain features without plan information access and they might provide you with the "internet" setting necessary to launch a "WAP" browser.

Can T-mobile Unlimited Web used on Smartphones?

I have HTC pure which i'm using on T-mobile (US) connection. Now I have the data plan Unlimited Web which cost $9.99 monthly. I was wondering if I could use that for surfing the net on phone. Can anybody tell me the settings?
yes u can i stll have my 5.99 plan lol use internet2.voicestream.com in settings if not then try wap.voicestream.com
but what about proxy...do I need to use any proxy server?
no you dont. theres a way to get that even cheaper $6.99 tzone plan which uses proxy. theres a code that you tell to the billing department of customer service and they can add it in for you. the down side is that you cant get pop or imap mail with the $6.99. the $9.99 plan is similar but it doesnt use a proxy. if i were you, i would get the "tmobile shadow unlimited" plan, at least its somewhat a smartphone plan so if you get called about anything, you can argue that you have the right plan. they will call you up if you suddenly switch to a more superior phone like nexus or touch pro and push you to upgrade. i just use the excuse "im just borrowing and testing this phone from a friend" and they usually buy it and never bother me again.
nope you dont have to do any of that...just use the regular setup and then go into setup...connections...connections...advanced...select networks...and under tmobile data... change epc.tmobile.com to internet2.voicestream.com and reset and u are all done
^^Seems t-mobile needs one whole month to activate a service
they said it wud be done from start of next billing cycle which is like 20days from now
