So, those who have gotten Rosie know that the knew HTC Android waving animation is coupled with some incredibly loud and incredibly annoying music. I usually turn on my phone in the middle of the day (during class) so having this very loud "BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGGGGGGGGGGG" go off is pretty frikken annoying. Anyone know of a way of removing this music? I thought something of this nature was mentioned already but when I searched nothing came up. If someone answers, I'll edit this post with a quote of their post.

I thought i was going to go insane listening to that while it kept looping. And to make it worse, i had major adb issues, so it went off for about 3 hours. Is there any way to remove the audio from the image its seared into my brain is a better question. hahaha.
TRY THIS
adb remount
adb shell
#cd /system
#cd /media
#rm boot.mp3
#reboot

In hte last month or so I notice that I have a noise "Dink" when I use my phone. This is either thru history button it dinks to redial some one that earlier called me it dinks... any ideas this can drive me crazy... I checked all of my settings and cannot find a setting or reason why it does this.
Thanks

I have also been plagued by a mysterious 'dink' sound. I haven't taken the time to properly nail down the cause but if you change your devices' sound profile you may find that the 'dink' will stop....
It hasn't bothered me enough to concentrate on but I would be interested in learning the root cause.
---- oh, it may also be related to whether a bluetooth headset is 'engaged' or not.
Cheers

I am in the same boat. Mine just started about a week ago. The "dink" occurs for me when I hit talk (hard key) when calling someone and when ending a call with the end hard key. It also happens when I use the end hard key to go back to the today screen. I noticed previously (before the "dink" appeared)that there was a subtle noise (quiet beep) when performing these functions, and now it seems to be exaggerated into the "dink" noise. Also, recently my phone started going to standby when I would connect to a call. This started at the same time as the "dink" noise. Strangely, now the phone does not go to standby anymore, but still has that aweful noise. It is slightly irritating.
I have recently upgraded S2U2, S2P, added UI Tweak & Opera Mini. I'm not sure if it really has anything to do with those programs, but thought I would mention it.
I haven't changed any things setting or uploaded any programs. What is strange I went thru all my settings and listened for the same sound and it is not on the list at all. So its a self generated sound. Irritating at the best. So whom on this forums can think of a fix? I know its a Sprint plot to take over our phones..... hehehehehehe

Likewise, pisses me off too. I press buttons by mistake and my phone keeps making the same noise...but it kind of warns me that i hit something when I didnt plan to...still annoying
I think immorion is right. I had it too. Turned off bluetooth for a while, no more 'dink'.
I noticed that upon the vibration being triggered on really short spurts (for example when typing) that occasionally a clicking noise is generated. This isn't from the speaker, it's definately a mechanical noise.
For reference, My EVO is less then 24 hours old.
Anyone else experience this?
Thanks
I haven't heard any clicking and I've had mine for a week. I just tested it with typing and I don't hear any mechanical noise. Perhaps yours is defective?
The vibration on this phone is 100% more refined than the Hero's (in my opinion, lol). I turned off haptic feedback everywhere on my Hero because it was obnoxious and obtrusive. The haptic on the Evo seems smooth and intuitive. I prefer to use it on anything with the option.
I had it on a replacement vogue I got, it went away after awhile.
Take it into sprint and see if you can replace it.
My Nexus One use to do that. Did it from day one I had it since release date and still works fine.
I happened to notice this today myself but the noise eventually went away. I hope it doesn't become a big issue.
Yeah, I don't think it's necessarily a defect. Just when it gets triggered for such a short time-span that sometimes happens. Not that first phone I've noticed it on.

I was watching a podcast of the 404(cnet) and one of the hosts had something go wrong with his vibration on his evo....??
He said it will still vibrate like when calls came in, but for like the haptic feedback it didn't work.(yes he menitoned he had checked all the settings that were relative)
Dunno if this means anything to you but it could be more than a fluke problem. You never know...
I'm having this exact same problem on a nexus one...

After about two and a half weeks of ownership I started getting the click. It happens when the vibration is very short, maybe less than 1 second.
It isn't really obnoxious to me, but it is enough of a click that I notice it now.
Haven't noticed this ... yet ...
-_-

lol I thought I was the only one.
Curious, how loud? Would the key tone, god forbid that even be on, cover it up? Medium volume? (Is that loud??? I don't use the key tones ... )
Mine does the same thing. Clicks every other input. At the home screen I can press the back button over and over and every other time is clicks.. doesn't sound healthy. Its getting annoying when texting because every other letter feels differnt making some letters feel like there is no vibration....
THe more it does it, it's starting to feel like a rattle, like something is loose....
I used to have that w/ my first evo. Then i bought a second off the market and it didnt have the vibration problem. so i returned the first...
I have this issue, will sprint do an exchange because of this? I can replicateit by holding the backspace key on swype, its a loud annoying clicking
Edit: I upgraded to the new swype and thenoise is gone
I have this same clicking sound, doesn't seem to bother me though!
yup, mine will occasionally do it too. It almost sounds like there is slack in there and whenever it starts up it slaps against something. Mine doesn't seem to be getting worse so I'm not to worried about it but I definitely notice it when it does happen.

Does everyone elses phone do this? Ive gone through settings and **** every time it annoys me to see if I can find something Ive missed.
Thoughts?
This is totally normal, just set it on vibrate + ring so at least you can feel it for the first few seconds.

This makes me a sad panda.
i kinda like it.........i don't jump everytime my phone rings at full blast.
kinda forgot about this, I got use to it.
I actually prefer it like that. Gives me a chance to answer my phone if I'm close by without startling everyone in the room.
I don't like it at the beginning, but once I feel so annoying hearing full volume of the ringtones in some quiet area, I love this feature now
I know this has been talked about, but there seems to be mixed results, I have searched everywhere, and I have tried all the different suggestions, but I still have this issue. As for in call volume, I have no complaints, my primary complaints are When a call comes (Ringer) in its not anywhere as loud as my TP2 use to be, or even how the HD2 was in WinMo. and the other area is notification.
Again I have tried, deleting the htcleo.acdb and runing the default.acdb, I tried replacing the htcleo, replacing the default, and each one either makes it lower or no difference at all. I even had one that made the ring volume sound low and as if it was on speed.
So what I am asking is, for the people who have HD2's and say there's is loud, would it be too much trouble for you guys to attach your sound file so I can test it and see if it will help my phone out? Cause like I said alot of us are saying its low, and others are saying its too loud, and unless I am wrong, the acdb file should work across on the HD2 phones right? At this point I'll try anything.
Thanks to anyone who does, cause its the only thing driving me crazy.
Okay Can anyone confirm something I just ran into please? As I was browsing through the file system, I notice this:
etc/firmware - default.acdb
system/etc/firmware - default.acdb
data/etc/firmware - default.acdb
I thought it was only two locations not 3!?
Also can anyone tell me what the MFG.acdb is for? Thats also in all three locations.
*EDIT*
I just tried my HTC Aria its stock with the AT&T android, and the sad part is its louder then my damn HD2

same problem for me maybe nothing is useful at the moment...
I have had this issue for quite a while now and it is getting really annoying. When using the external speaker (watching Youtube, Twitch, games, etc) it will fade out and back in frequently. Lately it seems more often than not it will be silent. This only happens with external speaker and does not happen with headphones or bluetooth. I don't think it is a hardware issue because the audio seems to fade out and back in rather than cutting out. Also I can usually press the Overview button and switch between apps a few times and it comes back. Also I have never experienced it while using speakerphone on a call.
Has anyone run into this before? Any ideas on what it could be? I don't think Logcat will work without root or I would dig into the logs.

Omg I've got exactly the same issue, finally someone talk about it !
Since nobody has any ideas, what apps do you have installed @Kev Lav? Maybe we can narrow it down to a common app or something. I really don't think it is an app though because as I mentioned it only happens when audio is on the external speakers. Sometimes days go by and the issue doesn't happen, sometimes it happens constantly for a day or 2. Pretty annoying.
Yeah I don't think that it comes from an app, but yeah it's so annoying, maybe I'll reset my phone but I'm too lazy to back up all my files actually haha.
yooooooooo ive had the same problem any fixes?
Hey guys ! I think that I found a fix, last night, I was partying in a hot tub and I was with my phone, I took several videos underwater and now my external speaker works great again ! You should try to put your phone underwater for 2 minutes !

Uhhh, I think I will pass on that. Thanks though. I have it go for weeks sometimes without the issue happening. Then it will go through phases where it happens a few times a day. Sometimes a reboot will get it back to a state where it happens infrequently. So that is my go to for now. Still extremely annoying. I wish Catlog or something like that would work on this phone so that I could look at the internal logs to see what is going on when it happens. Does anyone know if there is anyway to look at system logs?
