Hello knowledgeable guys out there, i had a major problem with my xdaII, the amber/green LED light just wont turn off, even when unplugged to the charger, im affraid that this can drain my battery, i tried hard-resseting and reflashing the rom, btw i use 2.06WWE rom and extended rom from Sin. Can anybody suggest a brighter idea?

Try to take off batery for few min.
Amber LED
I tell you pal.. just reflash your device and reload the OS once again, this might fix the bug..
Good luck... :?
i tried removing the battery and letting it drain off, but still the problem persist, its like its always on the charging mode even when you are not charging it, and its burning power more quickly, the battery dramatically goes down quick. Its original ROM was 1.66, then i encountered that problem, then i thought reflashing it with a newer version of ROM, 2.06 could fix the problem, but it still cant be fixed, any other bright ideas? or any of you guys out there had encountered this problem before?
Better bring it to your nearest service center. Its a mechanical problem.
Goodluck
ok, il try to bring it back to globe telecom, im sure its still under warranty. Thank you guys for your acknowledgement
I have a Qtek 2020i and recently I also have this problem, the amber led is always on even if it's not in charging mode, and the battery discharge very quickly, only one night! (I use 2400 mAh battery!).
If I do a soft reset and don't turn off the PDA, the amber led is not turned on, so looks like normal, but if I turn off and turn on again, the ambed led will turn on in 4s approximately.
I have this problem since the day I unplugged my 2020i from USB cable on PC (usb mode with CARD EXPORT) without desactivate usb connection on PC side.
I've tried everything but still not working, flash rom, activesync & usb mode, unscrew and open the pda completely...
Can anyone help?
Hi everyone,
I have an unusual problem and I have searched almost the whole internet but I have not found an answer, so now I turn to you for any ideas. My problem is that over the past month, my amber/orange charge light remains constantly on, even when the phone is not charging. I have tried to soft reset, I have looked into HKLM->Drivers->BuiltIn->Battery key and have found no solution. The phone will still charge the battery OK. The other bluetooth light works OK, it still blinks when bluetooth is on. The right led remains orange. I have also tried to take out the battery and re-insert, but issue persists. I am using Faria's 3.3 and IPL/SPL is 2.26, radio is 2.61.11 for over 6 months on a WIZA100, but the issue has occurred a little over a month. Phone has always been well taken care of, no major drops and absolutely no water has ever touched it. Battery drain is normal, I get about 1 day and a half of normal usage, push email. I thought it was batterystatus, and I have removed it, but problem persists. When I soft reset, as soon as the IPL/SPL screen comes on, better yet, as soon as the HTC logo screen before the IPL/SPL screen comes on, the battery light remains constant orange. Any ideas? Please help!!
Sincerely,
Ricardo Cheing

It doesn't sound like you've tried hard resetting your device yet. Hard resetting the device will not revert back to manufacturers rom but will bring you back to the part where you configure the phone, before customization.
I imagine this is the only way you are going to get the orange light to go away, at least when its not charging... You can hard reset by holding the comm manager and voice button and pressing the reset button with the stylus.
BACK UP EVERYTHING BEFORE HARD RESETTING!!!! If you do not, you will lose everything on the device IE: music, videos, pictures, documents etc...
Try to use another Radio ROM version. The charging related issues are related to the Radio ROM.
Thanks guys, I will change the radio rom on my phone before hard resetting. I didn't want to try to hard reset because of the way I already have my phone configured. I have heard there is a way to create a cab with all customizations, but I'll have to figure out how to do this. I will report more later, because I'm at work right now and I don't have the usb cable.

Hi, my phone last night (O2 XDA Mini S (Wizard)) started the exact same symptoms as you. At half 4 last night the screen came on and the phone claimed to be charging, while unplugged. I soft reset, but no change. by the morning the phone now claims to be fully charged. I've taken the battery out for a while, soft reset but nothing has worked so far, it now claims to be 100% charged constatnly, so i'm currently running the battery down to see what happens.
did you ever find a solution to this?
Hello, just wanted to update the thread, after 1-2 months of the battery charging light always on, no matter what, it fixed all by itself as I was preparing to hard reset my phone, no BS, I swear. I took the phone in my hand and was debating if I should hard reset or just flash another radio rom, and bam, I saw the light go back to normal, blinking green. That day it went back to always on, but then it would fix itself, but finally it's back to normal. So I went ahead and flashed the official T-MO 2.26/ 2.26.11 ROM which downgraded my Radio from 2.61 back to 2.26.11 and replaced my OS and then I flashed the official T-MO 3.08/ 2.69.11 ROM which upgraded my IPL/SPL and Radio. I then flashed Dr. Dot's BlackDiamond 2.0 WM6 and applied the 2.69.11 radio fix on XDA Mobile 6 Release 3. My phone has been wonderful since, thanks everyone.
hi leewebster try this and let me know if it works for you
thanks Ricardo Cheing ,
your input helped as this problem started when i had charged my phone with wife's dopod m700 charger
any way after playing around for some time i figured a workaround for it
i did the regitry hack for disabling the charging via the usb,
powered off the device by pressing the power button then took out the battery and put it back and then powered the device and the problem was sorted also the phone now will not charge when connected to the comp
now if i enable the charging via the usb then the problem returns
hope this is of help to somebody
ps: registry for disabling charging via usb
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/DRIVERS/BUILTIN/usbfndrv
enablineUsbcharging change the value to "0" (for disabling)
and
"1" (for re enabling)
Thanks for this tip, I have added a reference to this thread in the Wizard Wiki
just to update
today i re enabled the charging via the usb by making the registry hack , powered down the phone took out the battery and then restarted the device and was pleasently surprised to see that the device no longer had the solid amber light
device is working absolutely fine
Sweet hack
Hi, The post about disabling USB charging does indeed cure the charge light on all the time. Now the battery status works correctly. Only drawback was I use a cradle to charge with a USB plugged into a wall adapter. It won't work because of the USB being disabled and I mistakenly assumed since it was plugged into the wall it would although USB is USB whether powered from wall or computer. The factory AC adapter charges it fine though and the annoying light on all the time is gone. SWEET!! I will also re-enable it just to see if it remains gone like you did after a few days, and hopefully it will. If it doesn't I can live with it the way it is now
Thanks for the post!

Dear All,
Please help me if possible. I have been facing this same issue, however, when I go to battery icon and click on it, the next screen shows that the battery bar is running as it runs during charging, though the device is not connected neither with USB and/or wall charger, amber light is also stays on. I did hard reset, i did soft reset, I took the battery out and put it back in, all my efforts are in vain, no success sofar. I must tell everyone here that this is my third battery and the last two faced the same problem and then died and now they are useless, using those two batteries, i can't turn the device on, i cannot charge the device, they are garbage now, please help if possible!
Is There any solution to this....
hi I have been facing the same problem in my HTC touch Viva (India))...... but the problem is random .......... all of a sudden the light comes on and the phone claims to be charging without any source of charging ............... however in my case soft reset makes the light revert back to normal......but the problem re occurs after a few hours ....... I have tried every solution given on the internet (Hard Reset , registry hack etc) ....... but no avail.........Has anyone found a solution to this
My phone Specifications
WM 6.1
ROM 1.35.720.2 WWE
RADIO 03.37.90
this is my firends phone - tmobile cmpact 2 - its never been cooked, standard wm5 rom and no upgrades or downloads. it suddenyl today entered bootload screen - we took out the battery restarted, then it loads to the tmobile splash screen the cuts off, now it wont even turn on
tried charging it, and the charge light doesnt ocm eon, any ideas??
Thanks
anyone?..........................................
You have to enter bootloader mode (look up the wiki for how to) and then run the official rom upgrade for charmer.
my charmer is also dead
right in the middle of typing in an adress at iGO on my Charmer with WM5 it started rebooting and turned black after the T-Mobile bootscreen. And I could only turn it on by removing the battery, waiting for some minutes and then turning on again, just to see the same thing happening - black after T-Mobile screen.
Now I cannot turn it on at all, cannot reset (neither hard nor soft), cannot get into bootloader nor can I charge it (at least no LED is indicating anything).
Does anybody have an idea? vlodeck?
At the moment I am not at home, so I cann't try the original power supply (so far I used the one in the car).
Thanks in advance!
There are two possible outcomes Jared.
Either your power supply in the car is not enough to lift up Charmer.
Or your battery went totally dead, in which case you would have to buy a new battery.
Good luck.
Thanks for the fast support!
the strange thing is, that it all started with battery at about 80%...
I will check on sunday with the original power supply and a battery from another device. Then I will let you know the outcome.
I can lend you my battery, Jared!
...to see if it is really the battery.
Otherwise I can only recommend the HTC Kaiser ;-)
problem solved for now
thanks frikibaby for the offer...
but vlodeck was right. At home I pluged in the charger and it started charging and I can also turn it on again. So for some reason my car charger does not charge the charmer anymore although the indicator and the battery bar says so ...???
Thanks for the support!!
When turning on my trinity, I have the welcome screen "running" up and having a white stripe in the middle, well just look at the picture.
I just cant turn on my trinity.
If somone have idea how to fix this, please.
thanks in advance.
I'm having the exact same problem for weeks now!!
The first thing i tried was removing the sd card, and replacing the battery,
this seems to fix the problem for a small period of time (up to 1 day).
Don't be fooled, the problem will return when you need your phone the most
Reflashing the device with the same/different ROM has no effect!
Being an electronics engineer, i carefully checked all the connectors inside the screen, and everything is connected as it should be..
If anyone has any suggestions.... ?
Sjerby, one thing you can try to temporary revive your phone is this:
-Remove the back cover and take out the battery
-Plug in the charger, do NOT use the usb cable!!
-Put the battery back in, but don't try to power on the phone
-Leave the phone to charge for at least 20-30min
-Power it back on. You might have to push the power button twice for it to respond.
My findings are that the device somehow uses more power than the battery can
supply, but using a brand new fully charged original battery does not fix the problem!
ummm... the phone DOES work once in a while but it get stuck fast after, somtimes it just show's a black screen.
and i have no charger i use usb cable to charge it, i forgot the charger in a vecation ><
and just for the record the camera is having problems aswell if it makes to turn on
Hi, I have HTC X7500 with a very serious problem. It has SPL 1.20 Olipro. The thing is that it can't get to windows mobile. When i plug it in the USB the trackball gets red and if I take the battery out and the in in turns yellow and the device gets into 3-coloured mode. It's not detected also by the computer. What can I do? Is there anyway to get everything back to normal, to restore original ROM ot firmware, wahtever it's called? Thanks!
?dead battery?

Hi Sharky.
I would hazard a guess and say the battery is stuffed.
The battery is renowned for having problems getting good contact so the first thing I would do is leave it off and plug it into the wall charger then fiddle with the battery to make sure it is making contact and charging.
If it gets to geen light then try booting.
If not ,it is then possible to flash from SD card.
Let me know how you go.
If the battery is out, I can't do anything, the LED is always RED. If the battery is in, the LED is still RED, but sometimes I can get into bootloader (3-coloured screen). What's the thing with the flashing from SD card?

I just checked on my old athena.
When it is turned off and plugged in the light is orange untill it is fully charged and turns green.
If the battery has a poor connection it stays red.
I have an old battery that doesn't work and the light stays red.
So I would say you have a poor connection to the battery or the battery is dead.
I would not attempt to flash anything till you have a functioning battery.
Yeah, thanks, I've finally managed to reinstall ROM and the light when the battery is in is now orange. But I have another problem: when I plug in the USB cable the device gets gets very slow and freezes sometimes. Also the WiFi isn't working, but the bluetooth does so I think it's a software, not hardware, problem. Can you give me link to the original athena (x7500 advantage) ROM so that I can try with it. And one last thing: when I plug it in the computer via USB, Windows 7 doesn't seem to recognize the device, the Windows Mobile Device Center can't connect to the device. I appreciate your help till now and I hope you'll continue helping me to solve my problems. Cheers!
the corrupt wifi is a known issue wiith upgrade problems
this is the fix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2154726&postcount=33
have a look through the wiki for various files
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Athena
a lot of the links don't work anymore
also have a look at the stickies in the upgrading section and doing a search using variations on your question usually finds an answer
ps
this phone was originally released when xp was the main OS so try finding an old laptop that uses this if you want to upgrade to AP4 to get SPL 3.5.
Have a read of the beginners guide as well
cheers
I've tried that fix but it doesn't help. It's obviously hardware, so I'm taking it to the service. Thanks anyway!
