Hi everyone, I recently switched from HTC Touch to X1 and something has changed that I do not really like or at least I'm not used to this now and would like to have it in the same old way. I have WinMob 6.5 but this should not have anything to do with this effect.
Normally I use the stylus to press the touchscreen and immediately the device reacts, but now with X1 the device does nothing after first stylus press, and after a second pressing the device reacts as it should.this sometimes is annoying.
Maybe I also should say that this of course only happens when when backlight dims down. by first pressing backlight recovers and a second pressing make the device react. how to change this to direclty reacting after pressing in backlight-dim mode?
Thanks for feedback

This is something I LOVE about it! It really stops any unintentional presses!

Its not a bug, its a feature. And i like it....
Turn backlight dimming off, so that your x1 turns off after some time without to dim. Then you won't have the problem.
Dear Jordan, did your device react instantly even when the backlight was dimmed? I'd like this feature. Please tell me.

Anyone know how to stop an accidental clicks or other screen presses from taking place when I've got the phone to my face during a call?
Si.
I use a freeware app called Screen Off, download it here:
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...latformId=2&N=96806&productId=125781&R=125781
Basically when I make a call or answer a call I have screen off assigned to a button, so I can then press the button to turn the screen off. To turn the screen back, just press the power on button.\
Hope this helps,
Or maybe you could simply turn PDA off with a single power button press...and when you're finished simply turn it on. Remember that the radio is always running (unless you hold the power button for 5s).
My screen turns off automatically after about 20 seconds when on a call - haven't set it to do this - in fact can't even find an option - it just seems to be the default setting. The only way to turn it back on is to press the green or red buttons, or just flick the volume control either way - works for me. (O2 XDA Mini s)

Macrinus - thx that works a treat.
That's weird, your screen turning off after 20 seconds, mine turns off as configured in "Turn backlight after..." and "Turn off device...".

Yeah, it is weird - bit annoying, but sensible really to save the power - Perhaps its just the device turning off then, with the phone still running .... comes back to life with a flick of the volume though - touching the screen won't re-activate it. Will have to time it a bit more closely !

Radio on screen off
I too turn the device off when I'm on a call (although I only discovered I could without ending the call this morning). Otherwise, my ear activates the Start menu.
Doh!
if only the backlight is turned off, the screen WILL still react to face contact!
I understand that either the device (less the phone side!) via power button, or the screen must be turned off via an utility.
It may exist, but I know no proggie able to lock the touchscreen without turning it off!
(pitty, my axim X50v can lock the screen without turning it off via a Hw sliding button9
Hey guys,
I've recently flashed the latest AMP (Wm 6.1) onto my G4 and i've noticed an annoying problem.
I don't know if it's the ROM or the fact that i've not used the device in a while, but it seems the slightest nudge on the screen will turn the device on and light up the backlight.
This is really annoying and will kill my battery quickly. Is there any app or registry tweak that can disable the slide mechanism from activating the power i.e. if the power is off, opening the slide will not power the device on - ONLY the power button will do this.
Any suggestions?
Well, that IS the way that the Wizard works! It shouldnt be turning on when you slide the screen if the device is in sleep mode...so I would say that it has something to do with the ROM. Try hard-reseting or flashing again my friend and see if it helps!
Yeah, but we are talking the slightest tap or millimeter and it turns on.
I'm going to try a reflash and hoping that it's not a hardware fault.
Im sorry, I said that wrong. The Wizard SHOULD NOT turn on when you open the keyboard, if you have powered it down with the power button or it has turned off automatically via time-out. It should only wake from sleep if you press the power button, sorry for the confusion!
Though it does indeed still seem like a ROM problem to me!
I'm getting an xperia, I used to have a tytn II and now have a touch pro.
When I moved from the TYTN II to the touch pro I really missed having hardware keys and the LED blinking whenever the phone was on.
I could only tell if the phone was on by pressing the power button on the touch pro, which meant on a night when I wanted to switch off the phone I end up pressing the button, only to see the phone was already off then have to wait for the phone to start only shut it down.
Can you make the light flash every so often when it's on on an X1? If not is there a way to tell if it's on or off (without turning it on if it's off)?

you could briefly press the power key to see if the screen immediately lights up, if not then it is off
or you could allow waking up the phone with any hardware key and click one of the other keys to see if it's on
I'm sure, with all of the apps and mods on here, there is a way to make your lights blink every so often as well
however, I've noticed the lights aren't very bright, even at night time
You can slide it open to check if it is on
OMG I've been going nuts over this, I didn't think about sliding the keyboard out!
The any key wake is an even better option, thanks.
I'd still like to get the LEDS lit though, as I used to remeber to switch off the TYTN II when it lit up after I turned off the (ceiling) lights.
Thanks for the help
- Anthony
A workaround:
Set SMS or Mail notification lights to "unlimited"
Send yourself a SMS or Mail and keep that one "unread", then you have your Xperia blinking as long as its turned on.
I have had the Touch 3G for nearly a year now and for the last 3 months I have had this recurring problem which is fixed with a hard reset but will recur again after about 6 weeks. The symptoms are:
1. When turning on, the backlight dims just before the HTC flash screen and startup sound (when it says "Smart Mobility")
2. Touching the screen doesn't bring the backlight back on.
3. Pressing the power button doesn't turn the screen off from this dimmed state, but after pressing touching the screen will turn the backlight back on.
4. Pressing the power button again will now turn off the screen, but pressing it again won't turn the screen back on! If I call it from another phone, the vibrator goes on but it doesn't ring, the screen stays off and you can't answer the call. If you hang up on the other phone it keeps vibrating and you need to do a soft reset to stop it.
If I do a hard reset the symptoms are gone and reinstalling the exact same software doesn't cause the problems immediately but withing a month or so it happens again. All I did just prior to these problems was use TomTom a bit more than usual, but otherwise nothing different. I have used TaskManager to see if there is anything weird running in the background but it all looks fine. I have had a cursory look through the registry but also can't find anything?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like it's going all haywire. If you've had it less than a year, I'd send it in real quick. Sounds more like a hardware problem.
I don't think it is hardware as a hard reset fixes it...it just recurs down the track. I have done a hardrest and reinstalled all my apps and it is working great again but I was wondering if I should be checking somewhere in the registry for an aberrant setting. I am u using a backup image program so at least when it happen again I an restore my system more simply.
But then again, all the symptoms you mentioned point to a hardware defect. You could try to find a tweak, but like all electronic devices, it's the luck of the draw. Try emailing HTC and see what they say.
Hello! Just bought an Optimus 7! Really good phone for the price!
But i got one problem! When im going to turn on the phone with the windows button its sometimes not responding!
Somebody else got this problem?
Yes. Happens to me all the time, but I always use the power button to turn on the screen so it doesn't bother me that much...
Sounds like a known issue.

Same here. It must be a software bug because the button is always working when the phone is unlocked.
If you still hold for a while it works
One reason for the screen not turning on is that you may be blocking the proximity sensor at the top left of the phone. The reason behind that is probably to avoid turning on the screen when the phone is e.g. in a pocket.
for me the start button for screen unlock always works, but many times screen is unlocked and all black, the systems listen to the touch input but doesnt show nothing at all....it happens very often usually when the phone is hot...
