Good Idea!
would LOVE to see that....
Would VueFLO be able to tell the difference between tilting the device to the left (when in landscape) and rotating it into portrait?
A really REALLY cool idea though
Less talk and more results !!!
This would be truly a great app to have on the advantage. Anyone out there willing to build this app for us, it would be appreciated to the entire forum.
is it possible....and if so..how..?? doesnt VueFlo..uses manual buttons..can any1 care to explain if its possible or not..buh if it is..then it wud be great

Believe me, If I could, I would.
Some coding god needs to reverse engineer to vueflo apps to work out how the hardware is accessed. After that, any coder can do it just like the iphone/ipod people are all making stuff that uses the accelerometer in them.
Its not an easy task. We need somebody in HTC to leak the details really.
Arya, so you were never able to fix your phone call recording problem? The built-in recorder handles it, I forget now why you were still having a problem. Off-topic, I know, discuss on the original thread.
On-topic, the motion sensor on the hard drive is just that... a motion sensor. Not an orientation sensor (like mercury switches are). Just turning the unit on its side won't let the OS know its now on its side, however, by adding some kind of motion code it will work just fine. Like shaking it twice downward in the direction you want to be down. Shaking it once would produce too many false changes, but twice or maybe 3 times would send the right message.
This type of phone input has been in the news a lot lately, along with vibration as a feedback. The idea on the news is you would shake your phone to see if you have any messages waiting, and it would vibrate back if you do. Unfortunately since the Athena doesn't have a vibration motor the output part isn't possible, but the input part is, since it has the motion sensors already! (the lack of vibration is one of the top-5 flaws of this device, IMO, hopefully it will get added on the X7502)
So, taking the topic of this thread one step further, how about creating an application that launches apps based on motion input? Yes I know there is a program out there that lets you reprogram most of the function buttons to do this (I forget its name at the moment, I haven't bought it yet), but adding motion to this mix would be so much cooler!
shake it baby?
these ideas seam very good but sahaking it multiple times and to open programs seams like it may cause problems because our device is just tooo big, imagine to shake or rotate ur device a specific way to get pie running (maybe it could be shaken to the rythem of ur favourite song (which has to be the Smashing Pumpkins..) and it shakes out of your hand on to the concrete pavement below wooops!!! just imagine the insurance form for that
Well, the unit's motion sensitivity is quite high. Easily confirmed by changing the viewflo sensitivity to high and then gently tilting the unit when you are in a browser. You wouldn't have to create martinis or milkshakes to launch an app, just a gentle flick or two will do. A downside of all this is carrying it around would present problems (either on your belt or in your hand). Even if you ignore the g-sensors when the cover is on, the cover-on switch is so faulty you might get to work and find that you wired $150 Euros to the Red Cross and sent all your checking account information to some guy in Nigeria.

why did i just know someone would suggest this. hahaha prolly cause i thought that too! hahaha
1 reason of many i can think of is Iphone look alike
Hi, i'm interested in an iphone-like app too.
I still can't understand why HTC inserted a hardware which can handle with orientation, and then it's only possible to use scolling in PIE or Opera.
Why not Scrolling in PIE AND Opera. I love this feature, and want it always and for other apps too, like Rotate Screen automaticly, skip music file or backwards in WMP, Forward/backward in PIE/Opera when moved left/right.
I don't unterstand this. The difficult part is the integration of hardware, and HTC didn't develop a simple app which makes the hardware really do what it is supposed to do.
I even don't believe they added the G-Sensor for the Microdrive.
nothing new?
even with the new softwares incluede in devices such as Omnia or Diamond?
can you have the screen automaticaly rotate according to the way you hold the phone in your hand (landscape or portrait ) on an HTC TOUCH ?
does the touch have the necesary hardware for this and is there a third party app out there for it ?
thanks
ps: funny how I have this feature on my Canon SD750 digital camera but I do not have it on my pocket pc...
not it require hardware support
software is really kinda like a recipi for what actions should be given when input
comes and the hardware is the input
that's what I thought...too bad.
thank you for your fast reply Rudegar
Possible temp solution
Install Spb Pocket Plus 4 or something that will give you a rotate screen app. Then install fTouchFlo (with config program) and change the up - down gesture to run the screen rotate app. (Any app you can equip to the buttons in settings can be found and set in FTouchflo Config)
Just a thought.
Hope this helps..PS the free version of fTouchFlo can be found on the forum.. Then you can rotate the screen with a quick up - down gesture.
diigibio
thanks for the tip diigibio but it still not what I'm looking for.
what you are suggesting is very similar to placing and small icon on your today sreen for screen rotation.
i wanted the "automatic" rotation that the iPhone and my Canon SD750 have.
I guess it's the "cool" factor
thanks again though.
I'm affraid you'll have to buy an Iphone then!! LOL As I asume they have some kind of tilt sensor (something like the old mercury switch/just more updated)
Ahh, well pal. Good Luck..

Maybe create something that detects movement from the mike input? or sudden alteration of signal reception?

I'm using CallWave (free) but Sprint charges me 20 cents per fowarded call. I'll have to cancel the service even though it's pretty cool...emails you the voicemail attachment and also sends you a text transcription of the voicemail (not very accurate but good enough)
Well mate, I think it's only a matter of time. And by that I don't mean WM7, I mean something released on this forum.
In the mean time, enjoy every other iPhone feature here (if you like that stuff). It's amazing!

nice thinking but from what i think, your screen would automatically start to rotate as you're walking around under trees or through buildings and different rooms.
will this iphoneish screen rotation thingy work for the t mobile wing? if so where could I get it and do I go about installing it...thank u
in 2006 i bought on eBay in honk kong a phonewho have this hardware detection !
so apple dont image it !
rofl guys even nokia 5500 sport and some kinda older model of samsung had accelerometers, it's quite old technology, but now i even heard people calling an ordinary accelerometer a "Gravity sesnsor" stupid iphone madness
Does you X2 do this?
I just got my X2 and I have 2 bugs that I can't figure out.
(1) If I turn on WIFI the phone stalls/hangs. If I remove battery and restart then it starts up fine and wifi is now running. Turn off WIFI and no problems. Turn it back on, same thing happens!
(2) I just cant seem to install TomTom, it installed and worked fine on my X1 and is compatible with Windows 6.5.
Just one of the many bugs plaguing the X2.
The wifi crashing has happened to me before, the only method that worked was re-installing the OS via SEUS. Phone seems to run much better after that.
And hope for the march update to come along soon.
Re-installing the OS eh? Hmmm... I just might have to do this.
I did a full factory reset, but I guess it is not as good then.
I finally got TomTom installed, this time I ran the CAB and started doing other stuff on the phone (as it takes so long to install) A few minutes later it said it was installed. WTF?
But of course, the software cant find the GPS, I think I saw a fix for that somewhere.
And I also have the question to X2 owners:
For sure X1 and previous SE devices like P990, P1
have a strange cap/limitation regarding
PICTURE size.
So when picture has a lot of detail and a lot of light in it
and the fiinal size is around 1,5 MB
the phone freezes after taking such a photo
without saving it.
I've had specific landscapes which were always causing that!
Is that the same on X2?
On X1 it's a very rare thing, but definitely present.

1) This problem was solved by re-flash with SEUS. Yes, I flashed the same version that I had already in X2. Both same versions but newer is much better. I thing that SE quiet updated a few files but keep the name.
2) X2 using different GPS port than X1. This why TT can´t find GPS. You need to instal Franson GPSGate, this port emulator can emulate right port, whitch TT can see. At least, TT is the only navi software that have this problem. iGo works fluently, the same as Garmin.
PS: Sorry for my poor english.
also remember to install the small patch that SEUS released a few weeks ago.. it fixes a few bugs.
Ok friends.
Got my X2 finally!!!!
So before any eventual upgrade, my questions.
Many things actually surprised me....
So:
Where is my language??
I have a polish device but no clue where are my polish letters?
Where is WM keyboard or handwriting?
Or it has ONLY SE keyboard installed??
Where is Illumination setting?
Where is the option to display battery and next appointment when pressing clock on top bar?
Where is the option to power the device up with any key?
Where is the option to turn on/off the proximity sensor??
How can I set sending program with X icon to backround?!
I just couldn't find it anywhere!!
Also it looks like less responsive than X1.
Aha and one more:
My firmware is R1AA097
R5A
GENERIC_PL
It's the latest right??
I will be very grateful for answers.
I'm kind of confused a bit.
"Where is the option to display battery and next appointment when pressing clock on top bar?"
This is an issue with Windows Mobile 6.5. AFAIK all Windows Mobile 6.5 ROMs have this issue.
And the X2 has no choice but to me less responsive. The touch screen sensitizer is under the plastic on the front of the device where as on the X1 it was laid directly on the screen.

I've had the x2 for 2 months now, got it from the U.S i put it away because it was annoying me (to many bugs) now i'm using an HTC HD2 LEO I'M not going to use it again unless se realeases new firmware for it, other than that i'ts a very good device. some answers to your questions
(A) changing the language on the keyboard start/settings/ personal/ keyboard/languages/ the list drops down there are 23 languages supported even greek !
(b) no prximity sensor
(C) no option to option to power the device up with any key
(D) Illumination setting start/settings/personal/sounds and notifications/ it's all there personalize anything you want
(E) no sending program with X icon to backround
I hope i helped you in some way, I think that there are limited settings in general in wm 6.5 because my HTC HD2 has also limited settings but i'm very satisfied with my hd2 because i's very stable no crashes or hang ups.

Almost sold my HTC TP2 but SOMETHING told me to wait .. Problem was I was not happy with anything about it except the quality and feel ... I have been using the iphone for over a year now. got so used to that who interface. Someone said try the SPB Mobile shell .. I did .. had an old version from I don't know how many years ago .. Didn't do it for me ... then I went to see what the latest looked like .. WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT .. After than I installed the idial pad and the icontacts freeware and my phone I believe is going to pass up my iphone. I will be passing that to my son. There are a few apps that I will miss but I might find a replacement if I keep looking .. The most missed will be the program for looking at my eBay auctions and second is something called Glucose Buddy .. iphone just makes things so simple ..
gladd that u searched and did some mods and u love your phone. cuz i do to.
Hmm... why did you get the tp2 if you had an iPhone?
DOUBLE POST .. hmmm .. how did I do that ?
I bought it because I like windows mobile .. I don't like paying to put music on my phone, I don't like paying for ringtones... on too many occasions I paid for something and it got lost ??? I don't know how, but whatever was just GONE and couldn't get it back... ON and ON ... I wish WinMo would react to touch a little better, more like the iphone, but it is close enough.
ALSO: I am a gadget-a-holic. I saw one that someone had and just had to have it ..

It makes the menu in file explorer all fit in one screen...stock and some roms make the menu finger friendly, where you have to scroll up and down to see the rest of the menu options.
At the risk of sounding like I should have my phone taken away from me and replaced with an old Nokia or Motorola .. Is there a ROM that would transform this phone into an iphone sort of ?? What I miss the most is that with the iphone there is no digging. There is an icon for settings and the rest of the icons are applications .. I like that because I feel lost every time I pick this phone up .. Yesterday I had to go somewhere and didn't want to have that, "how do I ??" look on my face so I put my sim in my iphone and left my HTC at home ..

Every Sense 2.5 rom offers you today screen with roll-up-applications-on-a-screen (specially Cookie`s amazing Home Tab + editor), plus every important notifiaction on a screen. If you don`t wanna change your rom, you can install Iphone today, it gives you exactly same screen interface like Iphoney - no digging, just taping and you getin` there. Thanks for the iphone today skin info. I installed it and I am tweaking this and that .. I know windows mobile people hate hearing "I love my iphone." But I will say this .. I HATE THE FACT THAT I LOVE IT .. but I miss all the other bennys that come with owning something OTHER than the iphone .. I am now happy to have the best of both worlds.
Lately my eyes are getting older [ I AM NOT THOUGH ] and I have a hard time with windows mobile, especially making calls while driving. So don't get me wrong people .. I love Windows Mobile. I love HTC phones .. I hate Apple ANYTHING .. but I not only WANT but NEED the big icons etc that I have on my iphone .. I hope to be selling my iphone or giving it to my son if he still wants it, in the near future .. He is actually talking about getting the HTC HD2 I think ..
well i know that you can increase the text size but i myself never really did check to see if it did work since i can see but go under settings -> system -> screen. then go to the text size and adjust it from there. not sure if it would work or not but hope it does do the trick for ya
You can configure SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.3's home screen to be almost a dead ringer for iPhone. I got SPB set up with 3 pages of quicklinks for 95% of the things I do with my phone. I like to leave the stuff that can temporarily bork the phone in a place that has to be dug out to find...

Well, I have problem with typing on any android build... I know that screen sensitivity decrease made typing a lot easier on wm... Do you know how we can decrease screen sensitivity in Android?
I tried HTC IMEI also, i think typing is easier with that... But still, screen is too sensitive for me... What do you think? Do you have any idea how to fix that?
btw... i`m tired, so my english can be weird .. sorry for that

I have the same problem with typing in Android builds. In WM it is more under control and I do not have that much mistakes, but still it is far from perfect (enter/back keys somtimes behave really strange). So some lower sensitivity would help indeed. Or maybe to disable the keyboard to change the key once pressed - in my case most of the mistakes are cased when releasing the button.
I'm thinking about to send my HD2 to warranty repair, but I doubt they will replace it, as it is working...

Funnily enough I feel the exact opposite.
I find using these test builds that I am far more accurate under Android than I am with WinMo. In fact it's one of the reasons I am now using it as a daily build.....
If i am correct, i cannot use swype keyboard, because it doesnt support slovak language.. anyways, i did calibration for htc_imei and it is way better... going to google about blind type, i heard first time about that...

try swift key beta, although once you start typing too fast you'll notice very quickly why a multi touch keyboard would be nice .

yes i am damn sure ! dont waste ur time finding any fix ...go and get the screen replaced . also temme one thing ? try this out --- go to any widget on ur home screen hold it so that u can move it all over the home page ... when u r holding the widget while keeping ur finger stable u will see that the widget will wiggle(vibrate) a lot ..if so ..then ur screen is 100% defective !
Exactly like this my HD2 behaves!

I am using a Swype keyboard and noticed that it is missing one section that is normally on the WM Swype. In WM Swype, there is three different sections when you switch to numbers down on the bottom left and the third section has the ability to click between the letters/numbers/spaces that have already been typed. For some reason, the Android Swype seems to be missing that section and you either have to tap between letters to correct/delete/add or just remove them and retype. Has anyone noticed this?
