So this started happening a couple of days ago and its really pissing me off!! the buttons on the front of my device (messaging, internet explorer, d-pad, center button, hang up, answer, start, ok... so on) are sometimes not working.
Say i press the start button then scroll down to programs and when i press the center button, nothing happens and all the other hard buttons on the front stop working. If i move the scroll wheel up and down, then the buttons on the front will start working again but will cut off shortly...
This first started happening to me on VP3g's 3.62 rom, then schaps 4.00 and now schaps 4.01... do you guys think there is something wrong with my device's internals or maybe just some bad blocks because my screen was fading out for a bit.
Hi all,
I've had my touch hd for a few days now and overall im very hapy with it but the volume button on the side is driving me mad. It's very large and very sensitive so im constantly pressing it. Can it be disabled any way?
On another note im having a minor issue with sms alerts in touchflo. sometimes when I get a new message and have read it in touchflo the green '1' will stay indicating that I have an unread message until I go into my actual inbox and have opened it in there. Again, any advice appreciated

Yes. Install AEBplus. Then, configure the single press of volume buttons to something like Up and Down Arrow Key, and Double Press to Volume Up and Down.
It this way, when you touch the rocker, it meanly send an up arrow signal, which for most situation is not going to do anything. When you really want to change volume, double press it. Alternatively, you could configure long press to change volume.
With this setting, you will be able to change your music track and radio channel too, as the Up Down arrow keys are those players use to change track/channel.
Yes, the volumn buttons are very sensitive, so AEB+ is a must to install!
I use D810 for over 2 years, and scroll wheel is very handy to me, so I just config volumn buttons in HD to be up & down button. It can help some, but not all.......
Aside from the rocker volume being touched accidentally, the green phone button can also be touched accidentally. If you do it twice, it makes a call without you even knowing.
So, I do the same. Single press will start my AgePhone, double press for normal phone. In this way, the phone does not dial out unless I want it do.
Yep, AEB plus will be your answer. You can also configure this to do nothing on single press and then volume up/down on double, triple or long press.
so ive had this problem before and i miraculously fixed it some how,
so ive done a little googling and seen that im not the only one with this problem, while the phones in portrait, returning from standby the down button seems to be pressed as it scrolls through the today screen insanely, but as soon as i press the up button it stops the scrolling. although the down button it self on the front doesnt work.
now in landscape mode with the keyboard, what would be the down button in portrait is scrolling to the left continuously until i press what would be the up button in portrait but is the right key on the directional pad.
i guess this is a important key factor here...the up, down, left, right arrows are working just fine on the keyboard
its not so annoying that i have to press the up button once to stop the scrolling, i mean i can live without the down button for now til i get a different phone, but as soon as i hit the power button to put the phone into stand by this "scrolling" restarts, so as soon as i hit the power button phone starts scrolling, and it takes, many many attempts for the phone to go into stand by due to this annoying glitch, im not sure if its a registry problem as to i cant find the down button in the registry
i cant seem to fix it like i have previously, i fixed it twice previously, some how.....
if anyone has solved the problem to the wing scrolling down problem, help me out here...
I might be being a bit slow here, but I've just held down the menu button on my Nexus One when at the home screen and noticed that the keyboard appears and you can start typing and it'll fill in the search.
SC
Holding menu anywhere forces the keyboard to pop up. It's pretty handy and it's a good find none-the-less.
hey did you know holding down the button on top pops open a window that lets you go into airplane mode, silent mode, or even power the phone off???
..and holding down the search button pops up voice search.
...and reading the ****ing instruction card which has a total of like four or five sentences will cover all of this.
....and knowing that no one reads that stuff should go without saying.
Annoying Touch buttons
I think that the most DHD users have the same problem, touching the buttons at the bottom if you really dont want to.
So my question is if it would be possible to change the "Home" or the "Menu" button (pushing long) from "last used apps" to "turn on/off the touch keys???
that would be awsome
thx Dr.Pepper
Never been an issue for me, although i was anticipating problems with no hardware buttons its been fine...

Can't help but say, "you're holding it wrong!"
Seriously though I've never encountered this problem on either this phone or my N1 which has a smaller screen.
How exactly are you managing to press the buttons by mistake?
Regards.
iam the only one who has the problem that he accidently hits a touch key while using the phone or playing a game? every little contact triggers the keys. i.e. if i use the thumb to type a message, holding the phone in the right hand, i sometimes trigger the search key.
my idea is to make it harder to trigger these keys. as they are part of the touchscreen, it sould be possible to do anything that can be done with the touch sreen. my ideas:
1. double-touch; tapping the key 2 times (like a double-klick) triggers it once
2. sweep; i.e. you touch the home-button and sweep out of it, then release. can be even harder with sweeping out and back in.
3. circle-touch; making a little circle over the button triggers it.
other ideas welcome.

2nd problem: easier unlocking;
i feel it sometimes tricky to unlock the pone, wich is done by pressing the powerbutton at the top of the phone and sweeping on the bottom of the screen. the phone is'nt very small (or i have small hands). if iam holding the phone at the bottom, i can nearly reach the whole touch area with my thumb, but to unlock, i need to use my 2nd hand or to juggle the phone so i can reach the power button with the right hand. with the G1, which had a menu button at the bottom, it was just double-pressing that button and the phone was unlocked. iam looking for a similar easy way to do it.
its just annoying to take the phone out of the pocket and use both handy or juggle around to unlock it...
i dont know it it wastes additional energy to have the touchscreen active, so it can be used to unlock the phone. so my ideas:
1. use the touchscreen to unlock; i.e. draw a pattern, press the bottom key in some order (home, back, menu to unlock)
2.1 use the volume keys. if the screen is disabled, they are used to change the audio volume (or is that only the case, if music is playing?) When holding the phone at the bottom with the right hand, the volume-down hey is easily reachable. so you can do volume-down (which activates the screen) and then slide on the screen like you would do if you have pressed the power button. pressing volume-down with deactivated screen does not change the volume, but pressing it twice does (i.e. 1st press unlocks the screen and 2nd press takes volume down).
2.2 press vol-up and vol-down at the same time to unlock the phone. if i do that the phone vibrates sometimes, no idea why.
3. use acceleromater (or a other sensor?) to unlock, i.e. shaking the phone in a special way (i.e. a circle), activates the screen, so you can unlock it by sliding on it. also full unlock by shaking a phone could be possible (also known as kung-fu-unlock )
other ideas also welcome.
Proximity sensor for unlock when taking it out of the pocket :-D. I have the same problem as you so a 'fix' would be nice
yeah, you take the phone out of the pocket and it unlocks and says "hello raw, how you are doing?".
but that would be nice. question is if constantly checking the prox sensor would drain the battery much. it needs to be checked every 3 seconds or so.
