In a word no. See here, you'll see that it's not just the size but the connections as well that matter.

You can't even swop all Tytn 1s with other TyTn 1s because there were at least 4 different manufacturers and they use different digitizer circuits.
Having said all that you can probably get a new one pretty cheap of the net anyway.

Difference Wizard vs. Prodigy

Hi Y´all!
As I understand it the HTC Wizard came in two different forms; Wizard & Prodigy (or Wizard 100 and Wizard 110 as I´ve read they are sometimes called), with the groups being as follows:
Wizard:
i-Mate K-Jam
O2 XDA Mini
Orange SPV M3000
Qtek 9100
T-Mobile MDA Vario
Prodigy:
Dopod 838
Cingular 8125
Vodafone VPA Compact II
What is really the difference between the two of these groups (besides the slight difference in shape), are there any at all?

As far as I can see, they are actually the same (including the shape). HTC Prodigy was the original Code Name which was then changed to Wizard on its release (like Hermes is TyTn). Certain vendors may have the case recoloured (QTek) or have it slightly changed (O2 has the O2 logo embossed on it), but they are essentially the same.
ok so I accidentily mixed up the names of the two groups, according to geekzone (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/smartdevices.asp?phonemodelid=17 && http://www.geekzone.co.nz/smartdevices.asp?phonemodelid=156) the prodigy are the five devices in the top list and the wizard are the other three.
Plus they do look a bit different as seen in these pics:
cingular 8125:
http://www.uncrate.com/men/images/cingular-8125.jpg
qtek 9100:
http://www.joncollins.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2006/05/qtek-9100.jpg
The thing is that we develop an application running on these devices and now my development crew tell me that our application is handled differently by these two groups...

From what I have read, the K-Jam and the XDA Mini S ARE both Wizards. Of this I am fairly certain. (They look like the one you posted from joncollins.net)
The HTC Prodigy in most pictures looks like the Wizard and in the Specs sounds like the wizard. In one set (on www.phones2udirect.co.uk) it says the Wizard has Windows PPC 2005 while the Prodigy has WM5 (and I know my "Wizard" has WM5).
The images of those with a different case seem to be few and far between (inlcuding the ones on the geekzone.co.nz pages you posted which have a different shell, but otherwise the specs are the same). Try Google images for more, but they all seem to look like my phone (XDA Mini S) too.
I'd recommend getting it to work on a standard Wizard (which seems the most prevalent design) and if someone can say that there is a problem with Phone X, get one in as there seems to be confusion over which is which (and there is also the HTC Prophet, just to try and confuse people more....).
{Edit} Maybe this will help -
European products - http://www.europe.htc.com/products/
Japanes product - http://www.japan.htc.com/product.htm
American Products - http://www.america.htc.com/products/default.html
The american one seems to have the phone you are on about and the T-Mobile MDA then everything else below that is something else I have not seen before.... but they are actually a different machine.{/edit}
thanks for the answer, very descriptive

What is MDA Vario II

What is the difference between NDA Vario II of the first edition and MDA Vario II second?? i don`t know exactly but i heard that there are the differences like screen ? what are other differences and how can i solve problem with the screen of first Vario II/
is it rational to chanche Vario II to HTC Universal with windows 6.0 or not?
the MDA Vario II is a reworked version on the original vario (HTC Wizard), it includes HSDPA capability (network support required).
Some early revisions of the handset have has screen problems as well as keyboard problems, personally ive never had a problem with mine, im now running duttys premium and i am extremely happy with it.
any more questions I would be happy to help

Mda Vario - Wiza100

could it be possible that a T-mobile MDA VArio is a wiza100?
i am looking for a defective unit since i need it for parts for my dopod 838(wiza100) and could the hardware or main board parts be used from the MDA Vario to the dopod 838?
any reply would mean great help. thanks.
On the home page of xda-devs forum it lists all the other names that devices may be known as. According to the front page of this forum, yes the dopod 838 is also known as the MDA Vario. As far as I know parts are interchangable regardless of what branding they may have.

Software wise they are 100% the same..hardware wise there are minor differences between some of the models..for instance the stylus on cingular 8125 and tmobile MDA (vario) is not the same..the keyboard is slightly different...you may have problems using some of the parts..outer casing etc.
I am concerned if the parts of the board is the same for both the mda vario and cingular 8125/dopod 838. I need an IC component for the USB module and i found a vario that has a broken LCD, i was wondering if the electronic components of a wiza100 and the wiza200 would be the same or compatible?

Polaris = Trinity II?

Got a quick question. I've been looking around for a new pda. I currently own a Trinity and am wondering if the Polaris is equivalent to a Trinity II? Similar to how there is a TyTN and now there is a TyTN II, except with the name change.
I know the Polaris has streamed from the Artemis i.e. P3300, but the specs and alias model name (HTC P3650) seem like it can possibly be a the new Trinity? Or is HTC going to release a Trinity II later this year or in the near future?
I'd like some helpful input if possible. Thanks a lot.

Polaris=Cruise not Trinity 2
Kaiser=Tytn2
Trinity 2 is P3600i but it is made by only Dopod

I think we can consider that Polaris (Touch Cruise/P3650) is the evolution of Trinity (P3600) exactly like Kaiser (TyTN II/P4550) is the evolution of Hermes (TyTN/P4500).
For me the P3600i is just an enhanced version of P3600.
i see it as Wallaby-VIII
but seriously
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."
P3600i = Trinity 1.5?

Thanks a lot for your input. Yes, I agree that P3600i is an upgrade to P3600, but in reality, physical appearance is the same. Perhaps, it is more towards a Trinity 1.5. Polaris or Touch Cruise on the other hand is very similar to a Trinity style pda phone, but seems a lot better. However, the appearance seems like it is an upgrade for the P3300. My question, I guess, is that since the Touch Cruise has been release, do you think the Trinity "style" be phased out?

Raphael formfactors (TouchPro/Fuze/Sprint/T-Mobile) for accesoiries

I own a T-Mobile MDA Vario IV (RAPH300) at the moment. When I bought it I thought the formfactor of this device was just the same as the other branded versions. That appeared not to be the case.
Recently I bought a Brodit Landscape carholder for a HTC Touch Pro. It fits the MDA reasonably but far from perfect. This is caused by the rounded edges of the back-cover of the MDA (where the TP has sharper edges, diamond style). Apparently the Portait version of the Brodit holder does not have this issue.
I also found out that apparently the TP back-cover (which would solve my carholder issue) will not fit my MDA.
I have the idea that the exact size of the MDA also differs from the Sprint (RAPH800) version although they have similar-looking back covers.
Anyway, can anyone shine somelight on the form factors of the various versions of our Raphael in order to help the rest of us to select the best fitting accesoiries like:
Replacement back covers,
Replacement exended batteries,
Car holders,
Protective cases
My findings so far:
Touch Pro back cover does not fit MDA Vario IV
Touch Pro Brodit portrait car holder does fit MDA Vario IV well
Touch Pro Brodit landscape car holder does fit MDA Vario IV resonably well (some neoprene stuffing between holder and Raphael backside could solve this, not tried)
I am in the process of changing Fuze Hardware keyboard with unlocked Touch pto keyboard...Also battery door from unlocked TP fits Fuze perfectly.
I'd like to know if there are any physical differences between the Vario IV and the CDMA?
I contacted ZAGG about an Invisible Shield for my UK T-Mobile MDA Vario IV and they originally replied they didn't have one yet, but this morning I received an email saying that their shield for the HTC Touch Pro CDMA was the same...

Can you please post some pics of this?
The Fuze back-cover (battery door) looks similar to the one from the MDA

I'd also like to have this question answered. The CDMA and the MDA LOOK quite the same, but I have read in numerous places tha there are differences (ie. in thickness) between them
The hardware keys are reversec. e.g. the home-button is below the call button on VarioIV, on Touch Pro it is above below the screen. Same for the right side with the back-button
