Mda Vario - Wiza100 - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

could it be possible that a T-mobile MDA VArio is a wiza100?
i am looking for a defective unit since i need it for parts for my dopod 838(wiza100) and could the hardware or main board parts be used from the MDA Vario to the dopod 838?
any reply would mean great help. thanks.

On the home page of xda-devs forum it lists all the other names that devices may be known as. According to the front page of this forum, yes the dopod 838 is also known as the MDA Vario. As far as I know parts are interchangable regardless of what branding they may have.

Software wise they are 100% the same..hardware wise there are minor differences between some of the models..for instance the stylus on cingular 8125 and tmobile MDA (vario) is not the same..the keyboard is slightly different...you may have problems using some of the parts..outer casing etc.

I am concerned if the parts of the board is the same for both the mda vario and cingular 8125/dopod 838. I need an IC component for the USB module and i found a vario that has a broken LCD, i was wondering if the electronic components of a wiza100 and the wiza200 would be the same or compatible?

VOTE: Do u think the asian version is prettier?

Dopod 838 is the chinese version of the HTC wizard, it looks very nice to me compare with the Qtek/imate HTC wizard. Nevertheless, it's only available in chinese ROM....

The one thing I really like about it is the fact that the soft keys are placed further away from the call & end-call keys. I keep pressing the soft key accidently when I try to end a call - it's pretty annoying!

ouch that dopod was really ugly =) love my qtek 9100 =D
Isn't this just the HTC WIZA100 series design? Same internally as the WIZA200, but in a different plastic case, as used in the cheap Cingular version?

Actually, the Dopod 838 is available in both Traditonal Chinese and English ROMs. I live in HK (Australian) and have played with an English version Dopod 838.
Hope this helps. I personally prefer the look of the I-Mate/QTEK version.

so is the Qtek 9100 has a plastic case or metal one ????
Both (the front bezel is alloy). But if the WZA100/Cingular 8125 is $100 cheaper, who cares?
1st impression of Dopod - Sony P900(i) & Urgly...
That's why I bought a K-JAM via eXpansys even no official support center in HK & no interest free installment.
Want to clarify: Dopod 838 is Wizard, and K-JAM, Qtek 9100, etc - are Prodigy. Dopod keyboard is much like Universal keyboard, IMHO better then Prodigy.

True, the Dopod/Cingular is the "original" Wizard design. Not convinced on the keyboard though. It might look nicer, but the photos show that, unlike the Universal, the keys are totally flat. To me that suggests zero tactile feedback, and so a high risk of pressing adjacent keys,
a) because there is no space between them, and
b) because of the lack of a "dome", no way of feeling that your finger is central on the key.
i like the cingular/dopod one more but i have a couple of questions. anyone know of the cingular release date for it? cuz i know it was supposed to be mid november then they kept delaying it now some one said feb 1. also why is the dopod $950 on ebay and the k-jam around 700$? also is the dopod 838 802.11b or g like the k-jam. one last thing anyone have a pic with the dopod/cingular model next to the k-jam? because it looks like the dopod is smaller.

Is there a 8125 forum

i wish we had a 8125 forum specifically , cause alll these version of kjam and whatever are just confusing
The 8125 is hardware-wise the same as the iMate K-Jam, Qtek 9100, etc. Only the form-factor (button layout, case design, etc.) are different.
Be different if you had the 8100 - as it has no camera %)

Difference Wizard vs. Prodigy

Hi Y´all!
As I understand it the HTC Wizard came in two different forms; Wizard & Prodigy (or Wizard 100 and Wizard 110 as I´ve read they are sometimes called), with the groups being as follows:
Wizard:
i-Mate K-Jam
O2 XDA Mini
Orange SPV M3000
Qtek 9100
T-Mobile MDA Vario
Prodigy:
Dopod 838
Cingular 8125
Vodafone VPA Compact II
What is really the difference between the two of these groups (besides the slight difference in shape), are there any at all?

As far as I can see, they are actually the same (including the shape). HTC Prodigy was the original Code Name which was then changed to Wizard on its release (like Hermes is TyTn). Certain vendors may have the case recoloured (QTek) or have it slightly changed (O2 has the O2 logo embossed on it), but they are essentially the same.
ok so I accidentily mixed up the names of the two groups, according to geekzone (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/smartdevices.asp?phonemodelid=17 && http://www.geekzone.co.nz/smartdevices.asp?phonemodelid=156) the prodigy are the five devices in the top list and the wizard are the other three.
Plus they do look a bit different as seen in these pics:
cingular 8125:
http://www.uncrate.com/men/images/cingular-8125.jpg
qtek 9100:
http://www.joncollins.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2006/05/qtek-9100.jpg
The thing is that we develop an application running on these devices and now my development crew tell me that our application is handled differently by these two groups...

From what I have read, the K-Jam and the XDA Mini S ARE both Wizards. Of this I am fairly certain. (They look like the one you posted from joncollins.net)
The HTC Prodigy in most pictures looks like the Wizard and in the Specs sounds like the wizard. In one set (on www.phones2udirect.co.uk) it says the Wizard has Windows PPC 2005 while the Prodigy has WM5 (and I know my "Wizard" has WM5).
The images of those with a different case seem to be few and far between (inlcuding the ones on the geekzone.co.nz pages you posted which have a different shell, but otherwise the specs are the same). Try Google images for more, but they all seem to look like my phone (XDA Mini S) too.
I'd recommend getting it to work on a standard Wizard (which seems the most prevalent design) and if someone can say that there is a problem with Phone X, get one in as there seems to be confusion over which is which (and there is also the HTC Prophet, just to try and confuse people more....).
{Edit} Maybe this will help -
European products - http://www.europe.htc.com/products/
Japanes product - http://www.japan.htc.com/product.htm
American Products - http://www.america.htc.com/products/default.html
The american one seems to have the phone you are on about and the T-Mobile MDA then everything else below that is something else I have not seen before.... but they are actually a different machine.{/edit}
thanks for the answer, very descriptive

What is MDA Vario II

What is the difference between NDA Vario II of the first edition and MDA Vario II second?? i don`t know exactly but i heard that there are the differences like screen ? what are other differences and how can i solve problem with the screen of first Vario II/
is it rational to chanche Vario II to HTC Universal with windows 6.0 or not?
the MDA Vario II is a reworked version on the original vario (HTC Wizard), it includes HSDPA capability (network support required).

WTB the pcb behind the top front call/end call navigations buttons/scraped phone

Jasjam, 8525, Dopod 838 Pro, Dopod CHT 9000, SPV M3100, MDA Vario II, XDA trion
Looking to buy the pcb behind the top front call/end call navigations buttons.
I bought a new JasJam shell(said it was compatible with the hermes) for my HTC Tytn but the layout of the buttons and pcb are wider than what can fit in the JasJam shell. I figured other phone pcbs are compatible just in a different form?..
Can someone sell me the need pcb or scarped phone for a fair price?
