Hi
it seems that again us ( the french)
have a different Magic
it seems that we are not able to use any voice dialer or voice commands
do U in England Uk and other countries have this features ??
thanks
The English UK (Vodafone) version also doe not have the voice dialler or voice commands
so which country have it ?
if you look the following link it seems to be "normally" built-in
http://www.htc.com/www/faq_detail.aspx?p_id=246&act=faq&cat=0
It seems that there are two versions (and I am using term 'versions' loosely) on the market - those with HTC firmware (Asian markets) and Vodaphone (European markets). The Vodaphone firmware based on Google distribution and doesn't have voice dialing, Outlook sync, etc. The HTC firmware, according to various reviews does have these.

need to dial international and domestic call frequently. however, unlike handspring treo, xda did not allow to recall the phone number from contact and then manually add the prefix, e.g. 00986 + city code + number... etc. Any suggestion here?

Yes. It'll take some time, but it'll solve your problem for once and all: change all your stored numbers to international format, e.g. +49 (89) 555255 for a number in Munich, Germany. Numbers in this format will work from everywhere in the world (the '+' does the magic here), and of course also from the country or town the called party is in.
It's probably much easier to do this in Outlook, then synchronise the numbers back to your XDA.
Cheers

tks for your advice. however, in hong kong, we have many IDD service providers while if using "+", it will choose the most expensive service provider which i don't want to. well... i am always travelling around between hong kong and china and i have to add both local dial prefix and IDD dial prefix for each tel number, both office, mobile and home. you know, this is really really annoying and time wasting. hope there will be some temporary solutions here including some charged software solution.
I am new on Softbank X01HT (known as Dopod 838pro in my homecity Hong Kong) and would like to "use" my phone with the following addon:
1. iphone skin
2. change the browser to either "Piscel Browser" or "Opera"
3. change the dial pad to a smartdialing (automatically matches contacts during dialing)
Are there any comments or advices pls?
Theres a particular problem been having that i just recently found out
My N1 and my mom's 1st gen iphone can send and receive Chinese text messages.
N1 can also receive from everyone but when sent, a lot get symbols instead of the Chinese characters like boxes or stars...
recently tried with a new iphone 4. i can receive their chinese text messages but i cant sent it to them. they get weird symbols.
any ideas why this happens?
I think it's probably because of the unicode setting in the app you use, you would need to change it to the same/common unicode set for chinese characters that other phones use.
Yes, how did you send the text message? By forwarding it or typing it out? Which application did you use to send it? The stock messaging app or a 3rd party app like handcent or chompsms?
And which keyboard did you use to type chinese characters? And is it Traditional or simplified chinese?
I just sent a text message to my colleague successfully by typing in simplified chinese. The keyboard I'm using is Smart Keyboard Pro with ZH chinese installed.
Btw, you should ask this in the Q n A forum instead...
just stock normal text messaging.. the input method i have is google pinyin. i also have hanwriting IME but i forget characters a lot of times so i go with pinyin to type messages.
how do i check the unicode settings on both sides?
Can we know more about your phone? Like whether stock? Or custom rom?
Also what language is your phone in? Check in settings -> Language & Keyboard
stock 2.2.1 build FRG83D
language is english (united states)
That is weird. I just set my phone to English (USA), sent a chinese text message using google pinyin to a nokia phone and it sees the text without fail.
Is there another English with an Asian country in the language settings?
Also are you in Asia or America? It's unlikely but if you are on Google Voice (only in america) there are problems sending non english text on it.
If not, you might have to uninstall google pinyin, reboot the phone and reinstall google pinyin again to try it out.
He can't be using Google Voice to send messages, since the Voice app just gives an error when you try to send Chinese messages.
I'm on T-Mo in the US, and I send Chinese messages to my friends iPhone 3GS without problems.
in the USA, using T-Mobile. No data plan.
can send/receive chinese texts to 1st gen iphone with no problems. other phones like the iphone 4 cant.
I'm the happy owner of the Korean Version of "Samsung Galaxy Tab" (SHW-M180S - CDMA, SK Telecom - unlocked) using mainly in Western Europe with a local GSM/GPRS telecom operator (more specifically in Belgium).
Everything is working fine but the default "message app" (SMS/MMS) is set for Korea (80 bytes/Message ... and above it switches to MMS) while in Europe you may messaging with 160 caracters (160 bytes) and if above, it remains SMS but split in 2+ SMS.
I've tried to bypass the default app by using "Handcent SMS", "ChompSMS" and "GO SMS" ... but to the poor same result ... "Fail to send" (even <= 80bytes message size).
I'm wondering if there's a way to install the "default" message app of GT-P1000 without "Rooting" and/or modifying the ROM? I've looking hard on XDA and the web ... but not way out at this stage.
Thanks beforehands,
and Happy New 2nd Decade of the 3rd Millenium ;-)

If you setup a google voice account and have it as your primary number there is an option to record your calls. But please be weary, many countries, states and regions have very strict laws on Voice Call recording. In some countries it is a prison-able offense even though Google Voice, by mandate, tells the recipient the call is being recorded. Also Google voice is US region numbers only.
I know of no other app that allows this.
