Where did/are you getting your Touch HD from?

I'm mainly interested in the UK buyers really, but I guess this thread could be useful for anyone if everyone posts where they got it and how much it cost?
I have a contract with 02 already and so have no choice but to buy the phone sim free. I have it pre-ordered through Play.com so is setting me back £520. This will be the first time I've bought a phone without my provider having given me it for free/nominal fee...I'm having a hard time coming to terms with such an outlay. I could buy a laptop for this price! I still want it though, it looks great!

I am thinking of doing the same thing as this would be my first phone sim free too as well as windows mobile and although it is a lot I worked out that it could be cheaper then you think. As I put into the equation that if I got this from T-Mobile I would have to pay about £100-£150 for the phone plus my phone bill would be around £35-£45 per month on an 18 month contract.
But if I bought the HD sim free and changed to the t-mobile sim only deal (£25) I could save around £300 plus having to pay around £100 for the phone it comes to a total of around £400 or even more.
So in a way it does not cost that much but the only problem is paying a big lump sum rather then spread it out (thanks Capital one for your 0% interest until November 09).
My only problem is who to buy from?

I'm probably going to be getting one from Expansys along with a T-Mo web'n'walk contract.

I am in the same boat. I am only 8 months in on an 18 month contract with 3 network. I really want the phone. At £500+ for the handset and then just use my USIM in it (hoping it works and is compatible) seems a lot. However I could by a second contract with O2 and get the phone free on a £35 contract and pay around £580 in total for an 18th month contract overall. So for £80 more I get lots of minutes and texts over 18 months as opposed to nothing at all when just buying the handset. Decisions decisions.

Speaking from the other side of the pond...I preordered mine a month ago from Expansys USA for $885CAN, which at the moment is 453GBP. Not bad considering they want $1100CAN now.

I have also ordered an 8GB micro SD from Play, but wouldn't mind finding out if the UK sim free ones come with one, as another guy on this forum from NL said his did.
I've justified the cost to myself by the fact that I have sold two of my old phones and will 'only' need to put £220 to it to make up the balance.

I'll buy mine from o2 germany, because I have contract there. I hope that its coming this week, I'm soooooo curious.. I want it!!! So, I'll have to pay 290€ for it (in terms of contract, with 30€ per month), I think this is ok. Greez, cad^^

please do post ur reviews here once u get them. I am really concerned about its navigational capabilites, coz of lack of the DPAD.

No, unfortunately I didn't call them, but many in the internet say that its possible to come even earlier because the release was earlier, too in netherlands. So I still hope, if not, its sure to come next week, absolute latest in two weeks. Thats my information I have.. You can belive me, I'm sitting on fire, I really want this device greez, cad^^

I phoned up and told them that Orange have exclusivity on it in the UK (until 01 Jan 09 I believe).
However, the guy (who wasn't that informed it seemed) said that if it was on the site then it was authorised for sale.
Also, I saw on one website, a recent post said that with tariffs on O2 above 600 minutes, you get free web access as an "O2 Bolt-On". Seems like a good deal.
Unfortunately, O2 itself will have no stock and I've been out of my contract for 1 month now waiting for the X1 to come out. Therefore, I'd have to get a new contract, and a new number (you can't transfer an O2 number to a new O2 number provided by a third party I think).

you can if you transfer to another provider E.G. T-mobile PAYG then back to your new contract , put a couple of quid on PAYG

I decided to go for O2 from mobiles.co.uk, as 600mins with a free internet bolt-on is a sweet deal. Only time will tell if they manage get around the exclusivity deal but I'd rather peel my face off than sign up to Orange's garbage contracts with a data package that is cat vomit.

Purchasing an HD on o2 locked or unlocked

I currently live in Jordan and the HTC touch HD has just arrived, but at a cost. Because the pound is having such a bad time it works out to £810, but it is operator free as are all phones here. I'll be returning to the UK for a months holiday shortly and wonder if I take out an o2 contract, will the phone be locked onto this network like Orange or will it be unlocked?
I did email mobiles.co.uk as they seem to have some good deals, however they ignored my request and therefore obviously don't need my custom.
Perhaps I should buy an unlocked one off ebay and continue to use my PAYG sim cards.
Any thoughts?

I just sold mines for 400 pounds.

I bought on an O2 contract from mobiles.co.uk and it is unlocked.

I got My Htc touch HD (Blackstone) on Orange contract , I googled the Cheapest ,lowest priced deal anywhere in Uk as far As I can tell.
It was from : www.buymobilephones.net , They are based in the Uk , I ordered My Phone On sunday Night 2am! , got the Blackstone on Tuesday Morning By Special Deliverly Next Day! The Price of the phone was £59.99 , with Orange Racoon 20 (24months) , the line rental is £19.57 per month.
This is the cheapest way to get a HTC TOUCH HD , better than buying unlocked for £499 , or direct from orange shop £79.99 for phone plus £45 per month rental charge , also www.buymobilephones.net do the Phone with an 02 Unlocked , available from Mobiles.co.uk ( their website keeps messing up when you try to place an order , so stay clear of them )
I have unlocked the phone , use my t-mobile chip in it , from htccodes.
Another thing BBC Iplayer works really well this phone , just goto this website and enter www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer/ , But You must use Opera Broswer , as it won't work with IRIS OR IE.
You won't get Flash video working from the main bbc.co.uk website , it has to be special mobile site for flash videos to work.
Is there a way to get the ORANGE logo and intro removed from my phone ?

Hi, find that a tad unfair, many like me have had no problems with them. I had a free HD, £40 off via Quidco and a £35 18 month contract with 600 mins, unlimited texts which I switched first time using the correct number to 500 texts and unlimited Web. Plus £87.50 cashback which I accept I have yet to get for a few months.
Not saying you can't do better but many sites mess up when you try to buy something. I have no special relationship with them but I did have a faultless transaction with them 2 weeks ago.

Actually i just ordered mine from www.buymobilephones.net and I am quite happy with the 12 month contract at 40/month and just 19.99 for the phone with £20 from quidco which has tracked already, over the 12 months it works out at £480. I prefer 12 month contract against 18-24.
I got 700min + 100 txt + 200 landline mins.

saintalan, didn't know one could negotiate a reduction in txts for unlimited internet. How did you do that (what's the correct number you refer to)?

Sorry to say it but I also had issues with mobile.co.uk They cancelled my order for "quality" reasons and sent me an email telling me this, strangely I never recieved. I wouldn't mind but I am or should I say was a returning customer. Looking around I don't see a non orange network (I get little or no reception with orange anywhere I go) non-carphonewarehouse internet based company offering the touch HD for reasonable money. I am at this point considering abandoning HTC in favour of the blackberry storm due to availability. I had an m2000 for 2 years and an m700 which I love for 18 months. The only reason I am looking at a new phone is the m700's battery is starting to mess about (like all older mobile batteries do) and the recharge connection contacts are starting to wear out of their grooves causing charging issues.

UK - Orange Dumping HTC Touch and my probs getting an upgrade!

I've been with Orange for the best part of 10 years, my average bill is about £30 but Orange shops would only offer me an uograde to HTC Touch for about £300!!! I'm wanting to sign an 18 month extension and take out their broadband package, so I'm surely worth something to them, but thats the best they could offer.
So I called Orange direct and now they tell me they are no longer offering the HTC Touch HD!! Operator wasn't sure why but suggested it was too expensive and thereofre not popular enough.
I've even been to many 3rd party folk like phones 4u and carphone warehouse and none of them offer the handset as an upgrade, only to new customers.
(for a number of reason I am unwilling to start a new contract)
damn, I'm a windows developer so I was looking foraward to making myself some apps :-(
none of the other HTC on offer right now interest me (HTC Diamond, 3g and Magic are available) and very few other makers offer windows mobile

b) why should I renew with orange when I can go elsewhere (there was an offer on the Touch HD at the time though)

UK Orange upgrading
I have been with Orange 10yrs +.
I upgraded to the Touch HD from the SPV M3100.
They first told me it would be £290 to upgraded.
I asked if they could do adeal and was told i could upgraded for £50 if I did it there and then. I said no.
Waited a couple of days then phoned "retentions" again and stated that i would leave if they didn't do the same deal as Carphone Warehouse who where offering the HD on Orange for FREE at £35/month.
They relented and give to me for FREE.
I did the same with my wifes phone two weeks later.
You just got to force there hand.

yes, I considered calling retentions but was told they were no longer offering the HTC at all so I din't bother, perhaps I ned to do it anyway and see what they come up with

Rinsed and repeated that approach with Retentions on 3 different occasions in March this year. I got no satisfaction whatsoever.
Their best offer was £50 for the handset plus Dolphin 35 for £35pm 18mo. Online they had a deal Free handset plus Dolphin 35 for £30pm 24mo which they would not let me have.
Went via phones4u for took out Dolphin 30 @ £30pm for 18mo's. Took me about 5 days to swap my old Orange number out to T-Mobile then back to my new Orange contract.
I love my HTC Touch HD and Orange's great reception but hate Orange customer service and crappy internet tarriffs.

I got mine, after many arguments and bartering.
i paid £194 for the hand set.
And they put me on a £10 a month contract.

AND they put a £200 credit on my account, so 18 bills at £10 = £180. i pay no bill, aslong as I dont go over my 200min (Which i will never do!)

not bad loving my phone but wished they gave me the internet unlimited but oh well!!

You can get one for less than £300 on ebay - no contracts to sign!
I bought one in January for £370, then paid £15 to unlock it. I then cancelled my Vodafone contract and signed up to O2's SIM only tarrif, where I pay £20 a month for 1000 texts, 500 mins, and unlimited internet.
Sorted!

They gave me one for free when they first got them in, but then I do have a couple of contracts with them (my girlfriends is in my name) so maybe I'm a valuable customer.

I didn't have too much trouble getting what i wanted.
I paid £46 for the handset, and pay £26 a month, down from £50 a month before hand, for that i get...

I've always had great service from Orange.

I had to start a new contract with orange to be able to get the phone for free.
Picked it up from phones4u website in the end.

I used to be with Orange but left due to customer service problems. Bought the HD on ebay for £300, £15 to unlock it and am on O2's sim only deal. It's a good feeling knowing I can leave the network whenever I want (or whenever they piss me off)

i phoned retentions and told them i wanted to go O2 for the iphone if they didnt offer me a Touch HD. they gave me 900 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet for £26 and i had to pay £50 for the phone. about double on everything i had previously for £14 a month cheaper!
they seemed to suddenly accept anything i wanted as soon as i threatened to go to O2 for the iphone so maybe give that a go!

Guys and Girls,
I was fortunate enough to get my hands on the THD when they released it in early October last year - been loving it ever since.
The only observation that I would make is........................
Don't get yourselves tied into 18 / 24 month contracts with any of the airtime providers on the strength of this handset as it is already "end of life"!!!
This may be a good reason why some of you are struggling to get a great deal or get one at all! Wait with your current handset and see what is going to replace it.
On that point - I also have a Blackberry 9000 (bold) which I have got to say outperforms the THD at every turn, and more importantly has a keyboard! Anyone who is wanting to upgrade from any HTC product that has a keyboard currently (TyTn / TyTn ll / Touch Pro etc etc) be warned, I missed that functionality!

"We will have the Desire HD on Saturday. Its being delivered to only 400 stores across the UK"

Anyone seeing a pattern there???

spoke to their customer service on Thursday and they said they should get it first week of Nov, worst case 2nd week. Hope its by the 1st

Ok so here's the update.
Went to orange shop last week who said it would be in last week.... lies.
So while walking past the shop in Woking thought I'd chance my luck.... One in stock SUCCESS!!!!!..... or so I thought.
When the assistant asked for £100 I explained it was an upgrade and he pointed out that you cant get it for free upgrade!!!!!!
Called customer service who said I COULD have one for free but they are out of stock......... so still waiting till next weeks delivery now.
Good news though. It's officially out now and anyone pre-ordering one from Orange will get a txt message when they are in stock. You then have about 4 seconds to call and order before they go out of stock again....
So wish me luck for next week. Hopefully should have one in my hands by Tuesday..... fingers crossed...

I enquired with Upgrades on Tuesday about the phone and they said they would call me when it was available.
Wednesday I got a call from the guy I spoke to in Upgrades he said their first batch had come in and he was sending me mine.
It arrived on Thursday at 1pm.
I didn't pay anything for the phone, I'm on a 12 month contract £40 as I upped my Internet to 1GB I could have stayed on £35 but only 500MB. Very happy with it so far, I've had none of the issues reported so far. My friend just picked one up today at the Orange Shop in the Birmingham Bull Ring

I'm after some advice. My contract ends next Saturday. I've already bought a Desire HD SIM free, but am wondering if I can wangle another HD (and sell one obviously to by a Galaxy Tab!) or maybe get a Z.
I've been with Orange since they weren't even Orange (anyone remember Wabbit?) and I don't recall I've ever threatened to leave. My bill is only £22-£26 a month so I would imagine they want £200 for the HD.
Do I simply say 'Vodafone say for £30 a month I can have a free one!' ? I don't really want to leave Orange I don't think. Is there any way they call my bluff and I'm booted?
What advice can anyone give?

I've just took out a new contact via phone with Orange, new customer, £22.50 pm 24 months and £99 for the phone, which I thought was ok

Well another week and another lack of f....ing phone...
So here's where I am with it.
As of this morning Orange customer service have said there is a batch in testing that will be released next week. As for price, I'm paying about £22 per month and I'm getting it for nothing... Customer service have the ability to waiver the £100 the shops are charging for the same upgrade... shops have stock but cant release it to upgrade customer for free as they have different rule regarding upgrades. ie if someone wants to 'pay' for an upgrade who are they to stop them.... pretty sad really but that's the world we live in. Hoping to see one by the end of next week... wish me luck.

I'd recommend always phoning through to Orange retentions when your contract ends. Dial 150, then 1, 4 then 2.
You need to do your research first and check other deals out there. Depending on how long you've been with Orange and what your normal usage is will depend on your loyalty reward.
I've been with orange for nearly 7 years so my loyalty reward is quite good. I managed to get the following deal:
24mth contract
HTC Desire HD for free
600 xnet mins
1300 texts
500Mb ("unlimited") data
5 photo messages
and a free 3G dongle with a 1Gb data usage per month.
For £22.50 per month
So it really does pay to phone them up! I am concerned about Orange's data fair use policy as 500Mb isn't very much. However you can pay another £5 to bring it up to 1Gb. Also, one guy said that they don't usually start charging you over the first 500Mb until you go over 750Mb and they charge you 60p per day you over which isn't too bad.
You need to say you've been looking around and are thinking of leaving Orange. Ask them what the best deal is they can offer and haggle if you like. They have some special deals that aren't advertised.

Personally, I don't understand why people buy the phone out right and then go SIM only- as it's not cost effective when compared to the deals you can get through retentions.

I got mine from Orange the day it was out. Their cs rung me to tell me it is in so I got it within a day.

Nope three is unbranded .. had to take my first one back cos of reboot problems and lag , new one no reboot so far but lag is still bad HTC better sort it out quick

Has anyone received their handset through Buymobilephones.net yet?
I placed my order 3 weeks ago on a £25 T-Mobile tarrif and just keep receiving Stock Expected Soon e-mails.
I phoned them today as my O2 PACnumber expires soon and they told me that they were not expecting stock for a few weeks as T-mobile had pulled the phone for software issues. This is strange as I went to my local T-mobile shop at the weekend and they had 2 in stock which they were keen to sell me (well one of them at least) but I wasn't willing to pay the additional £10 per month or the £150 phone cost to keep the £25 contract.
So what's going on?
Buymobilephones.net defined a few weeks for me in case I needed any help in that regard as 4-6 weeks - that's a lifetime.

I think it might be time to cancel your order and buy elsewhere.
Judging by comments here on XDA and elsewhere, the vast majority of UK users experienced no more than a few days of waiting for their Omnia 7s, a week in some cases, but very rarely more than that.
3 kept me waiting for ten days before I cancelled my order with them and went with T-Mobile; my own experience with T-Mo was that the handset was out of stock when I ordered, but 24 hours later I was told that the handset was back in stock, and the morning after that, I received my handset, and that was ten days ago.
It's also worth noting that T-Mobile hasn't installed any software on the phone, so the usual network customisation delays don't apply here; the only soft customisation they've applied is a T-Mo logo splash screen on start-up.
Seems to me that you can either accept buymobilephones.net's explanation and sit tight until they deliver (£25pm with a free handset is a pretty good deal after all, and you can always request a new PAC from O2 once you've got a delivery date); or you can get on to buymobilephones.net and ask them why they're keeping you waiting when T-Mobile have been shipping these things out to their customers for a while now.
By the way, looking at the small print of that deal you've got, it appears that you can either have the unlimited text booster that they've 'included' in the £25pm price, or you can swap that for a web ('unlimited internet') booster. If you want to have both the unlimited texts AND the web, you'll have to get an additional booster for an extra £5 a month, so the total cost will be £30pm, not £25pm. You WILL need a web booster though, you can't do without it on this phone - but as long as you're happy to live with web but without the unlimited texts (you'll still get 500 texts included), you can keep the price down to £25pm.
If you need BOTH web and unlimited texts, maybe you can find an alternative deal elsewhere with a free handset for £30pm?

I phoned T-mobile and asked if they could improve their £35 per month Tarrif - they agreed to reduce it to £30 per month (600mins, 500texts, unlimited internet +an additional booster). Then I agreed and proceeded with the order and informed them that I was an existing customer - so they agreed to reduce it further. In the end I had to pay £35 for the handset but I received the above tarrif for £25. And better than that - my phone will arrive tomorrow.
Big fat smiley face.
Just hope the phone is good now.

That's an excellent deal.
I noticed today that the 10 day delivery had gone from the T-Mobile website so I rang them up to check and stock was back in but the best they could do for me was 30 pounds, the phone free, 3gb but at 2 years
I am never ever going to be tied into a 2 year contract, I hate having to sign up for 18 months as that is too long really. So I will have to wait until buymobilephones get them in stock as at least I can get 18 months at 25 pounds with the phone costing 10 pounds.
A plus for you is that you get the 3gb and high speed without having to phone the sales reps until one switches you over - they shouldn't really as its only for T-Mobile sales and not resellers.

I was in the exact same boat. Decided to call Orange (who I'm currently with) and quoted my "friend's" (your) t-mobile deal.
I managed to get 600mins, unlimited texts, internet, 3 extra magic numbers (I'm now on 6) and orange wednesdays ofcourse for £22.50 a month with the phone costing £15! Thanks "friend"!
I have a feeling that I may be on the rubbish 500mb internet but she didn't day. If I am then I will moan and see if I can get it to 1gb.
Phone arrives tomorrow. Can't wait. And buymobilephones.net, I want my 3 weeks of missed WP7 awesomeness back!

Think of it this way, by waiting 3 weeks you have saved money each month over the next 2 years
And anyone waiting on buymobilephones they have said the T-Mobile Omnia 7 is in Monday with enough stock to clear all back orders.

Looks like buymobilephones are expecting them from Tmobile on monday . Can't wait to play with mine. Check out their twitter feed!

Does anyone know if Tmobile know that the phone has been bought from a 3rd party reseller? I'm wondering because I want to try and get moved onto the 3gb fup. If I pretend I bought direct they might be more cooperative.

Well, surely they'll know that you didn't buy it from them, as there will be no record of the transaction. A third party reseller is a shop, don't forget. Buying from shops is normal.

Yes but the contract is with T mobile regardless of where I bought it from. I will be paying them directly for my contract. Its just I will only get the 1gb fup for buying from 3rd party.

Just called Orange and got the data increased to 1GB from 500MB free of charge with no hassle. If anyone here is on Orange and is a returning customer it should be no problem as you can't really expect to fully utilise this operating system with 500MB and I think the highest they have on their online plans is 750MB. Just be polite to the person on the phone.

i asked at upgrades and they said they couldn't do that for me but gave me a dongle for mobile internet for 500MB instead??
i guess i won't need the mobile wifi hotspot feature now but i think i still would have prefered 1GB or more

Nice one friend - another happy Omnia 7 owner - mine should have been delivered yesterday but I am working in Milan so I won't get to play with it until tonight - try and get mtself a few Xbox achievements.

Odd. When I phoned them, they said they couldn't price-match. Maybe it's cause I'm not on orange at the moment.
Had pre-ordered the HTC Mozart, but it's still out of stock on orange. Might see if I can swap it for the Omnia 7 on T-mobile, seeing as it's in stock.

Well after 4 days using my new toy and after all that messing with BMP.net I have phoned T-Mobile to arrange for it to be shipped back to them. I am not happy - primarily with WP7. I hope it will improve given a few updates but having used various incarnations of WM6 I am not hugely confident.
So my phone is going back and I have ordered an HTC Desire HD to replace it - I love my Desire so I am sure the Desire HD will be fantastic. I will miss the AMOLED screen most of all - I do so like black to be black.

Do not buy from these people if you want proper internet!

I just got mine from them, and it's brilliant. Got a T-mobile 18 month contract with 600 min and 500 text and unlimited internet for £30 and free phone! Also, 5 month rental is half price! I just couldn't find a better deal than this!

I wouldn't order from anyone else.
Ordered an Omnia 7 on H3G at 2.30pm and received the phone at 1pm the following day. Superb, quick service.
I really like WP7. The interface is clean and very quick. Internet, e-mails, text etc are all lightning fast.
I can't understand all those people who get a WP7 based phone, and then complain it doesn't do this or that. If you want a customizeable phone, go with Android or WM6.5.
WP7 devices are brilliant IMHO. At the end of the day it is a PHONE. If you want all the other bells and whistles.... Get a laptop!!!

Got mine on Virgin, 800 mins Unlimited SMS, 1Gb data for £30 per month.
Ordered online late on a Thursday and delivered on Saturday morning.
Love the phone...
