How wo install a root certificate with .der extension? - Networking

Hi,
my problem already figures completely in the title, I have to install a special certificate (ca.der) to be able to access a Wi-Fi-network, but I don't know how to install it? Simply clicking it, the device (HTC Touch Cruise with c_shekhar lastest 6.1-ROM) says "There is no application associated with "ca". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application."
I imagine the solution is very simple, but I really don't get it at the moment...
Thx for help,
greetz,
Eric

Hi,
with .crt certificates it works to rename them to .cer
kind regards

How does it differ from this CAB file I pulled off the HTC Apache?
I use this in my Extended ROM so that I can run unsigned applications, CAB files, and CPF files during the initialization procedure after a hard reset.
Hi BTT,
This is based on that exact cab. The only difference in enabling RAPI calls also, and doing it without needing user interaction, only needing a activesync connection.
Is a little utility I use for integration into batch files.
Bye,
Ricardo
Certificate disabler..
Probably a dumb question, but is it a replacement fort certchk on 2003 devices? Still looking for such a program.
Thx
Thanks Machinegod, this worked well. I used it on an XDA exec will it work with all WM5 devices?
Hi Machinagod
Is there a way i can call your routine from code?
I have developed software for WM5 but cannot access the database with the standard MS settings. I would like to give my users the option to unlock the rapi calls and install automatically.
Thanks in advance
Steve

to ronaldovic: I believe this utility is for disabling signed applications so you can install apps that have not been signed. I have used BTT cert cab in my extended rom since he posted it (Thanks BTT, It has been very usefull)
If you are looking for disable cert check so you can activesync with MS exchange without a a SSL . Certificate connection, Micro$oft still offers a download to disable the cert sync check..

Miracle Registry
i checked many registry of "Security policies" in different device, and also SDK.
http://asukal.seesaa.net/article/12583144.html
You can understand how change it for your neccesity.
this was for your refference.
and also i got made one registry file which has many "Certificate Sotre"
from different setting devicees and CABs and SDK Emu.
This registry make your device to enable working many kinds of dll and exe or any other files without digital signed(not for all)
multi user interface files also can effect without digital signatures.
(shellress still can not, but worked with Smartphone signature)
The security revel will be same or lower than SDK emu.
but not completely finish to edit it.
so possibility of some side-effect or unkown problem.
Hope understand this point and use it as test.
But once you use this registry, you got understand why i said it miracle.
just import this registry and make soft reset.
"syntac error" displayed when you import this, but works.i will cheking the reason of this error.
lets test it.

wifi with certificate

Dear All
I need to connect my htc tyn to my work wifi configuration. The problem is the wifi is based on a root certificate permission. Obviously i have the certiface but with wm5 i can't configure the wifi with the root certificate. I try to use odyssey client for windows mobile but it allow me to use only personal certificate. Can someone help me
Thanks for your great support
Bas
It can be done, it's just not much fun!!!
It's a bit of a convoluted process, but you can install a root certificate on a WM device - only problem is, you have to use a CAB file.
There is an article on one of the MSDN blogs that you can use (I've used it myself about 12 months ago and I still have the CAB on my SD card!). Have a look at >THIS PAGE< to find out how to do it! By the way, the "makecab" program is part of Windows XP, so you don't need to go downloading SDK's etc.
Have a go, hope this helps!
Mark.
I have loaded my certs by exporting them on WinXp to .CER files, copying them to my Jasjam and then opening them in file manager.
You should be prompted to install the cert.
Worked for me.
Dear all
The problem is not to import the "root" certificate to wm5, but how to use it with the wifi (weap) structure.

how to desable certificates and signed cab files for Windows Mobile 5

I've spent days and night trying to install a cab. file on my ppc without a succes now how a hell can I desable the certificate and signiture of this file.
thanks a lot for your help
You can try a program called certification off "Cert_SPCS.cab" it turns off the validation in WM5 (not sure if it works with later ROMs but worth trying)
Search for it.
Or go to: www.pdamagician.com/wm5software
I have already done it, still get the same message" installation was unsuccessful the program or seting cannot be installed because it does not have suffisient system permissions. Other solution will be highly apreciated, thanks anyway
Have a read of this thread, might help you !!

The link here above did not help, thanks anyway. So again
is there any genius friend out there who knows how to unsigned cab, or disable signatures? 3 months waiting for a solution is too much.
Thankyou

Do you use a pocket pc device or a smartphone?
For pocket pc you can use my tool to turn off security.
So no prompt when you install or start an application with
no certificate.
Copy to device and start after some seconds a message box
is displayed with the result.

Thanks Houser for your precious help, unfortunatly this did not work, I still get the same borring message concerning cab signature. What if we unpack the cab file, unsighned it and then repack it again. I wish I was a programmer!!
NB. The device is a pocket pc with WM 2006 onboard
Now lets get it strait, who can help me to re-build this bt patch for an Eten M700. This later can make the device compatible with a pioneer car headunit.

SSL Certificate in Dutty-Rom

Hi,
With the normal HTC HD rom, I installed a SSL certificate (*.crt file), by using the file-explorer, and clicking on the file.
Now I installed Dutty's latest rom, and I tried to install the certificate by clicking on it, and it tells me no program is associated with *.crt files.
Is there some other way I can add the certificate to the certificate storage? I use an exchange server that have a self-signed certificate. I had it working before I flashed the rom, so I know its possible, question is how
I hope one of you smart guys know how to do it
Thanks
- Ceder
I needed to install wildcard certificate that my company uses for Exchange. After 2-3 hours of fight (using .crs files doesnt worked well) I found a way:
1. Get "Microsoft SSL ChainSaver" and use it to obtain certificate you need
you will get 2 XML files - for HD use that one for WM6 and rename it to _setup.xml
2. Use "makecab" (got it by default in Vista Business - dont know other OS'es) to make CAB file from _setup.xml.
3. Install CAB file on your device
Rgds,
W.
Thanks! Worked perfectly!

How do you install an SSL certificate?

Hi
I'm trying to work out how you install an SSL certificate on the HTC HD2.
I have downloaded the file and have it in a .crt format.
Can anyone help me get this onto my HD2?
I have loaded it onto my device but when I try and install it I get the following error "There is no application associated with "xxxxxx". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application".
Do I need the file in a different format?
Please help as this is driving me potty!
Thanks
Same problem here, I wanted to install certificate for emails but same error...
I am having the same problem
I have tried installing the Certificate by using the SpAddCert.EXE but the phone does not like this application.
Stuck now!
problem is the crt format, if you convert it to a .cer then there isn't a problem
Hello all I have sorted my certificates out
Format was the problem.
I am Using IIS for our certificate - STARTSSL Issued certificate:
Export Certificate to a .PFX file. Copy to device (I copied to root) installed the certificate > reboot.
I was then able to sync - but came up with an 0x80072fod error and would not connect
Googled and found this is because root certificate not installed.
Downloaded STARTSSL root certificate and installed rebooted and problem sorted.
Man that rootCA never got to my mind.
You have my eternal gratitude
