Window Frames - Touch HD General

Not really sure how to explain this -
I have an Orange HD with stock ROM.
I have tweaked something (everything) in the last few days and now I have white expanding and collapsing window frames on screen whenever I open or close an app (any app).
It was quite interesting for about 2 minutes but now I am thoroughly pissed off with it.
Has anyone any idea what I might have done and how to undo it. I REALLY don't want to hard reset if at all possible.
Thanks.

I think that's Advanced Config>User Interface>Animate windows option. Just disable it

Yes. Thanks very much. I found it earlier while messing around.
I kind of remember enabling animations somewhere but I didn't realise I had both Advanced Config and HD Tweak installed.
Pretty disappointing animations I must say.
Anyway, thanks again.

Have a go at this. Seems to work really nicely on my desire

Not really, force closes after some secs and dialer doesnt work at all. And looks so poor.
Yep, you get an FC when you try and config it. Pretty pointless after all.

Whoa, bit of an extreme response!!
A bad case of CapsRage
This looks great. Although I'm not sure of the risks of re-entering Recovry yet once rooted and the phone is set up and memory filled.
I don't want to risk messing up my setup with trying to copy the necessary system files over.
I tried it without them, it looks nice, but i'm concerned. My notification bar doesn't show, so i can't actually see any notifications on my screen. Is this normal?
It just runs as a full screen app.

Repetitive Strain Injuries Apps

Desperately searching for a App (before it's to late) that works like RSI-guard or RSI-shield for PC, but have not found anything! Would buy this app even if expensive!
I think this app would spread and be a hit success, because more people are using their mobile phone for all kinds of things, and repetive strain injuries are common.
At the basics it would be a App with the following usage
at custom interval it locks the device from usage (ex. 4 minutes every 10 minute). Only you can do is call and answer call.
it provides short, medium, and long breaks.
A more advanced app would have the following options
warn before a pause is aproaching so you can finish what you currently are doing
when a pause, it provides animation of useful exercises
after x hours of device usage, it warns and suggest "lock until tomorrow"
For me, i became kind of addicted to my device, now kind of permanent RSI damage to my hand/arm.
Hey,
sounds interesting. I got rsi from playing guitar,
and you're right that would be a nice app.
I'll see if I can put something together.

Edit: After a bit of googleing I'm not sure if this is possible.
Seems like the lockscreen is not really accessible (for obvious security reasons).
So the device would just tell you to stop and dont lock,
at least that would be something i guess?
sounds good
some kind of pop-up that re-pops to front if pausetime is not out would be enough!
Alright. Ill give it a try tomorrow.

You can try to "program it" with Tasker...
Heya,
alright, I got a small prototype going on. It will still take a few days for me to finish this, university keeps me a bit busy.
I may have also found a way to enable device locking from dialogs and notifications, it's just 2.2. [Froyo] only,
if you own such a device and are interested I may look further into that. (Almost forgot they introduced that API)
See Device Administration API.
Just to give a small update.
So long,
Alex
i bought tasker, useful program. managed to get it to show a popup at different interval, what i wonder is, is it possible to make it lock the device for a number of minutes, i mean lock from any input (not show the lockscreen), or repopup the popup windows instantly as you close it
how is it going with the program?
(tasker was more than i needed, and drained battery on my device)

I don't know what I did but my shift is noticeably faster

I did something that was common sense troubleshooting but I didn't think of it earlier. I damn near uninstalled every downloaded program I had and even some of my regular apps I use. A program, or combination of programs, was causing the phone to stutter and majorly lag. I'm talking hit the clear key in the notification bar and maybe ten seconds later it would clear after freezing for a few seconds. Once again, the problem was user error. I was too stupid to think it was actually something I did. I bet if I test video it won't give me problems like before. I don't know what the culprit was but I'm sure I might run into it again. It would be good to know which program isn't behaving.
when you change your wallpaper, how long does it take after you select a new wallpaper for the new one to save? Mine seems to take longer than it should, maybe 4-5 seconds. Is that normal? Seems like my Droid Incredible did it really quick.

Both my Epic and Evo take a few seconds so I wouldn't put too much stock in it.
As for the OP, I would try reinstalling your essential apps one by one and letting the phone run a bit with each to see specifically which app is the culprit.

I knew something was making your phone slower than normal. Glad to hear you got it figured out.
I just noticed that beautiful Widgets, a few keyboards, and gingerbread keyboard were sluggish or maybe causing slow down. I found gingerkeyboard to be much quicker and a little smaller than the other. I'm going to try to look for apps that get high ratings from a lot of users and are the smallest in size when compared to the others. So far my research is working good. There was a ringtone download program that was very popular and had high ratings that I downloaded, got what I wanted, then uninstalled it. It wasn't behaving itself very well.

[VIDEO] Enable Adobe Flash Player on HTC One

Sorry for the piss poor video. I was setting up the device and realized I didn't have flash enabled. That was too late to see if it was available from the overflow menu.
This video should help you get flash running if you didn't know how to already either way.
If this has been covered... oops. I did a search.
I've had this APK at flash.cricketusers.com for a little while. Ever since Adobe stopped supporting Android devices officially. Been away from the game for a little while so if anyone wants to chime in. Please do so.
NOTE: I'm pretty sure IIRC this is the same process that was used on the HTC Droid DNA.
EDIT: After unlocking the bootloader (essentially wiping the device), it appears that the option is available from the overflow menu on the stock browser already. No need to download additional apps.
Open Browser > Overflow Menu > Enable Flash Player
Appreciate the tip, thanks! One thing I'd suggest though is maybe getting a bit closer to the phone for your videos, can be kinda difficult to see what you're doing sometimes. All good though - cheers!

Some of the more detailed videos like unlocking the bootloader are done zoomed in.
I was trying to transition from using my Nikon to just a GoPro, but I now think I should just spend the time setting it up.
Thanks for the feedback.

Your tips for speeding up the phone?

Using an A2017U B29 stock rooted. I find the phone to be generally laggy, especially in opening apps or switching apps, but even in things like SwiftKey appearing… My OnePlus One felt faster. And also (separate issue, I understand) double-tap to wake is slow, as is screen-on in general.
Please share your tips for speeding up the phone. If you can include links to tutorials or explanation threads where relevant, even better!
Thanks :good:
That's sorta unanswerable but my first cheap tip is to disable window and menu animations. I imagine some manufacturers tweak the timings so you don't feel the lag- I mean... animations are intentional lag, right?
Just go into developer settings near the bottom and turn them to whatever the next to lowest setting is. Personally I just disable the 3 animation settings because they're dumb. A window fade-in/out effect is telling your computer to do a math equation each time you switch a window. I'd rather the window simply open.
The same goes for 3d and transparency.. Unnecessary math. Even Microsoft got rid of the Windows Vista orb start button in Windows 7 because it shaves a few cpu cycles off to render a square versus a circle.
get fstrimm from the playstore
Thanks! I had turned off some of the animations already but turned off the other two now as well. Didn't see a big difference. Not sure how to turn off 3d and transparency (and wouldn't that affect how apps look?).
Moved my photos and videos to the SD card… that helped, too.

Thanks — I did. Not sure yet if it made a difference... Moved my photos and videos to the SD card… that also helped.
Upgrade to the ZTE Axon Dmix7 custom ROM. You can dirty flash it and continue using your software since it is just an optimized Stock ROM. It is by far more agile than the Stock B29. It is fully reversible, since you can also dirty flash the stock B29 ROM again.
On top of that you can increase your user experience by more than 10% by reformatting your data partition to F2FS. This process is also reversible and very easy following the guide you can find in my signature.
I am using AKT kernel tweaks for SD820 since 3 days. My phones feels blazing fast now, and batterylife improved too. Check it out!
