Acer Launcher - Desire Themes and Apps

Have a go at this. Seems to work really nicely on my desire
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691495

Not really, force closes after some secs and dialer doesnt work at all. And looks so poor.

Yep, you get an FC when you try and config it. Pretty pointless after all.

Whoa, bit of an extreme response!!
A bad case of CapsRage

This looks great. Although I'm not sure of the risks of re-entering Recovry yet once rooted and the phone is set up and memory filled.
I don't want to risk messing up my setup with trying to copy the necessary system files over.
I tried it without them, it looks nice, but i'm concerned. My notification bar doesn't show, so i can't actually see any notifications on my screen. Is this normal?
It just runs as a full screen app.

8525-Crapware=Non usable?

I decided to redo my phone. I used the official AT&T WM6 ROM. This time, instead of letting it install its bloatware, I did a soft reset and then nothing installed from AT&T. Basically, I could not use my phone. And I had the roaming triangle up next to the 3G icon in the title bar. I could not use the internet sharing (no media net settings). I couldn't do my normal functions. What are ALL the correct settings for medianet, MMS, getting my phone off roaming, etc. And what settings are useful?
Please help! I really don't want to have all of their stuff loaded into the phone.
Thanks!
Do yourself a favor and use my ROM instead. You'll have all of the connection settings you need and be able to remove the applications you don't want.
Done.

The best AT&T rom without all the crap.
All hail vp3G!

I downloaded your ROM, but I don't know my bootloader version. And to make things worse, my camera button is broken, therefore i cannot manually get to my bootloader screen. Any suggestions?
Update: I found out my bootloader version. It's 2.03, but that's not an option. What should I do?
Update #2: I did some research and loaded the 2.10.olipro bootloader. Your ROM installed and it just finished doing it's customization.
Congrats... I'm sure you'll like it. This is a solid ROM.
Well, so far so good. I do like all of the utilities built in and such. And the extra memory for installing programs. I have just about everything I want and I still have about 25MB left. The only thing that I do not particularly like is the start menu click. It's nothing major but I could do without that little click. Otherwise, this is indeed a good, solid ROM. :] And, maybe for a future version touchFLO could be included? (Or, where is a good place for touchFLO and the instructions to get it on. I check out the Alpha touchFLO but that was a horrible experience. Basically it blackened my entire screen when I'd use it and it essentially was buttonFLO )
Keep up the good work. :]

Look for an FTouchFlo v1.4.1 on in the Hermes Forums. I installed it and it works pretty well. It did seem to make my Camera Albums app (A really cool app by the way) to act a little funny so I removed it.

I also tried that FTouchFlo v1.4.1. It didn't really work for me. And it didn't even have the cube. Hmm.

How do I "completely" remove Sense/Rosie from FreshToast 1.1?

I have so far only deleted Rosie.apk and all of the HTC widgets.
I do not like the AOSP look of say... DarchDroid, I like the HTC touches here and there, but without Sense UI.
I'm getting Force Closes now. I can't find the apk associated with the FC'es.

im not sure, but didnt you just answer your own question? im probably wrong, but i think thats it. use root explorer and go on a deleting spree...
I wish it were that easy! lol
I searched all the directories for that file (com.htc.rosieutility) and its nowhere to be found.
I actually searched for *rosie* and all it came up with was:
/sdcard/rosie_scroll
/sdcard/download/Rosie_Icons.zip
Jesus ive searched the phone high and low. I am so ****ing lost. I dont know wtf is going on here.
was your search global? it seems you only searched your sd card...
why not just leave rosie and use helix? seems to me itd be the most stable.
The rom without rosie is very stable.. The only issue you will have is when you boot up, youll have 1 force close. After that the only time it comes up is if you are downloading something from the market. Which it doesnt even always come up.
For the most part the force close doesnt even mean much. I just got used to it being there. I never cared to look into it. But i will now.
Edit: also comes up when uninstalling something. but i dont do that much
Have you tried deleting
HtcAddProgramWidget.apk
hey fyi ic3 is completely aosp, and has fixed the utility issue. check his thread out, ppl seem satisfied.
Im pretty sure i figured it out
delete these
HtcAddProgramWidget.apk <-- If you havent already
com.android.launcher2.apk <-- I think this is what did it
I read the ice rom thread and all he did was use an older version of Launcher, so I just deleted it and rebooted without getting a force close (first time its worked)
I think that did it!
Sweet!
Yeah, I was getting the one FC at boot, and sometimes in the market, but I was also getting it while in the browser, sometimes in People, other times just at random.
I am using Helix.
So far so good.
Thank you!!!

I tried ic3....
I'm just not a fan of completely AOSP. I like the touch of HTC apps here and there.
I'm slowly getting FreshToast exactly how I want it.
Its super fast, and getting more and more stable even with JIT.
The only other thing I'm trying to narrow down is this memory leak type issue.
Sometimes with NO active running services or apps, the available RAM will drop as low as 55MB, then withing a few minutes I'll check it and it'll go back up to 70-80MB. Doesn't seem to affect performance too much, and I'm COMPLETELY taking a stab in the dark here but maybe has something to do with JIT?
I dunno. I'm going to try and disable JIT and see if the available RAM stays in the 60-70 range.
I just removed the HTC Mms.apk with the AOSP Mms.apk to try and cut back on keyboard lag.
I tried going with the AOSP/standard keyboard... I think ive just been typing on the HTC_IME keyboard for way too long that my muscle memory has been trained to it. I keep screwing up with the vanialla keyboard. Also the spell correct doesn't seem to work as well as it does the HTC keyboard. I have no vibration or sound, as well as no key preview to try and cut back on lag.
It seems that the actual spell correction is what is lagging the keyboard down so bad. If I turn off all spell correct/auto complete it seems to be much snappier.

it sounds like compcache is working
So is the memory increase a result of compcache compressing the data to the ramz swap space? Or the opposite? Ive been reading on google code about compcache and of course, I cant wrap my redneck head around it.
I seem to def. like this better than autokiller. ROMs with autokiller seem to kill active running apps too much, especially with the browser if there were a few flash ads on the site. It would just randomly close.
The only thing I'm doing now is going through the com.htc.resources.apk and changing the green to blue. I'm hoping its easy enough of just editing the pngs to blue. Im sure though, somewhere Im going to have to edit some xml files somewhere that have a color hex associated with it. Im just not a fan of green, and am getting sick of it hah. I like blue
is there any way you can compile a signed update that i can flash, that is exactly what you have, Fresh Toast 1.1 with no Sense and JIT enabled..?
I'd be more than happy to, if I knew how to!
I assume it would just be an update script, but i've never done that before.

Just make a nandroid of your rom.. Dont include the ext partition. And maybe delete some personal stuff. lol
You could make a nandroid.. Then boot up again, delete all personal stuff and sign out of everything. Make another nandroid (the one you can send to people). And then flash back to your nandroid of all your personal stuff back on it.
I think it would be easier to just make a tutorial as I didn't really do anything that hard. Just removed some files here, replaced some there, and re-configure some stuff.
As a matter of fact it may be easier to just zip a bunch of files, and make a batch file to do it, as pretty much everything was done through ADB.
I don't like the idea of nandroid, wouldn't want to accidents include some paid app, or risk personal data getting in there.
Actually I'm going to read up on making update zips. Sent from my HERO200 using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk

Amy Tips On Speeding Up Launcher Pro? Seems My Phone Is Unnaturally Slow

Just wonder guys, I know my X is supposed to be a beast of a phone, but my Incredible seemed faster and more responsive.
I dont know if I am doing something wrong. Here's what I did:
Re-loaded most of my apps once I loaded on MyBackupPro, the SD card in the phone is the one I took out of the Incredible.
Now the phone kind of chugs along at times, more so than my Inc ever did.
I even have Task Killer Pro killing the MotoBlur apps since I am not using it, I know I know taskillers are 50/50 shot, but I like them.
Anyway, if there is anything I have done or am doing that may be slowing the thing down, let me know please and I will try it.
This thing is supposed to be a quick behemoth, so why is it stalling and chugging when I even try to open the app drawer?
Please any help would be great, thanks.
Many people are having this problem, including myself. You might want to go into Launcher Pro's setting and turn on keep in memory under general settings. The Launcher Pro forms also mentioned turning the memory usage preset to very low. I haven't tried that last thing though.

go into menu>preferences>advanced and set all your scrolling and opening speeds up some to make transitions faster......also i know you say you like them but i would ditch the task killer...just another task running!

Some neat little hacks/tricks using titanium backup.

So I've been doing these things for a while and just realized theyre pretty elusive and most people would never think of them, theyre pretty useless but maybe someone will appreciate them.
So I have been using titanium backup to backup and restore my builds (a lot of people have said not to when switching between builds but I've never had a problem) and realized a couple weird things you can do by restoring backups some of which are really handy.
MAKE A LOCKSCREEN WITH NO PASSWORD!
This is amazing, especially with the screen blackout issues.
Basically backup your system settings with a lock pattern on. then turn the lock off and restore them and restart your phone, you should be able to put in any pattern you want every time you unlock your phone. (also on some builds, sometimes the touchscreen will turn back on when you push any on screen button while its being frozen, so having the dots all over is handy) it also really confuses my friends with android phones every time i put in a super complicated password that uses every dot and weird angles.
APPS DO WEIRD THINGS THEY SHOULDNT... IN A GOOD WAY?
Beautiful widgets has a really nice way of showing the weather in the notification bar, but it wont do it unless you have a widget on the homescreen, do the same thing apply one, back it up, and then take it off and restore it. now i have the notification without having the widget. minor, but nice.
also, not useful but i noticed if you apply sms popup and then do the same it says its disabled but it is actually enabled, so... i know that isnt useful but maybe it will help you think of or notice something that is.
that sound very geek to me ;-)

I don't know what I did but my shift is noticeably faster

I did something that was common sense troubleshooting but I didn't think of it earlier. I damn near uninstalled every downloaded program I had and even some of my regular apps I use. A program, or combination of programs, was causing the phone to stutter and majorly lag. I'm talking hit the clear key in the notification bar and maybe ten seconds later it would clear after freezing for a few seconds. Once again, the problem was user error. I was too stupid to think it was actually something I did. I bet if I test video it won't give me problems like before. I don't know what the culprit was but I'm sure I might run into it again. It would be good to know which program isn't behaving.
when you change your wallpaper, how long does it take after you select a new wallpaper for the new one to save? Mine seems to take longer than it should, maybe 4-5 seconds. Is that normal? Seems like my Droid Incredible did it really quick.

Both my Epic and Evo take a few seconds so I wouldn't put too much stock in it.
As for the OP, I would try reinstalling your essential apps one by one and letting the phone run a bit with each to see specifically which app is the culprit.

I knew something was making your phone slower than normal. Glad to hear you got it figured out.
I just noticed that beautiful Widgets, a few keyboards, and gingerbread keyboard were sluggish or maybe causing slow down. I found gingerkeyboard to be much quicker and a little smaller than the other. I'm going to try to look for apps that get high ratings from a lot of users and are the smallest in size when compared to the others. So far my research is working good. There was a ringtone download program that was very popular and had high ratings that I downloaded, got what I wanted, then uninstalled it. It wasn't behaving itself very well.
