Hi Guys,
What do you think are the best registry edits on the TD2 and what do they do?
I have been looking through the old ones for the TD1 and i have been changing thinks like the GPS enable on the camera ETC.
Any good suggestions you might have to improve the TD2 experience would be gratefully appreciated
yah.like a compilation of regedits would be great along with its description
the only one I know if PHM regedit, it works fine with the D2
sk tools
sk tools...the best! cleanes , optimises,...the whole lot
i think he don't mean the best registry editor. He means the hack to do with the reg editor.

You're absolutely right

How to remove or delete the new key from PHM Registry Editor? Thank you.
Autolock

When I do this my device locks itself automatically after few secons even though I've set the backlight to go off after 30 seconds. Does anybody have a solution that can handle this problem?
thanks!

You mean that after this hack Manilla will auto-rotate according to its orientation, or will it PERMANENTLY be in landscape mode?

I can't get this to work for TomTom, basically I have :
1. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName
String: Mobile Navigator Value: \Program Files\Navigator\TomTom Audio Fix.exe
2. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList
String: Mobile Navigator Value: TomTom Audio Fix
Not sure what is wrong here.
I think you have to add tomtom itself instead of the audio fix, because the audio fix loads the tomtom app.
[Edit] Just read the previous post, apparently I'm wrong.

I use a program called changescreen, it auto rotates by default but you can specifiy which apps you don't want to rotate. This works for TomTom + everything else. I didn't want to have to use an app to rotate, I'd rather have the phone take care of it but the rotate implementation on the D2 is pretty half-arsed. The reason I have to use this is because I'm left handed and tilt clockwise, htc in their infinite wisdom only tilts anticlockwise, for right handed people.

I technically know how to add icons to the htchomeplug i just don't know how to change the icon
hklm\software\htc\htchomplug\*add new key*
my problem is the iconindex number, which seems to control the icon. when i change it to a different number the icon disappears but if you click over the area where the icon was the program will still launch.
You can use RViewer (google it, don't remember where I found it), or just go with 0.
This is mentioned in the "original post" on the HTChomeplug modifications.
thanks for the help
HTC HOMEPLUG
First is access using the registry editor to this entry:
/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/HTC/HTCHomeplug
There is the configuration of the plugin. There we will find two entries pointing to the first two icons (Battery and Rotation) that seems to be configured in a different way that the rest of the icons. Those are the two DWORD entries:
PowerIconSlot with value of 0 (this means the first position in the plugin)
RotateIconSlot with value of 1 (this means the second position)
The rest of the positions in the HTCHomeplug appears like KEY entries with names from 2 to 5 meaning positions 3 to 6 in the plugin bar.
Inside each key (2 to 5) we find 3 values (or entries):
1- iconindex DWORD type of Decimal which contains 103 in the case of entry KEY 2
** I used a program called RViewer (for PPC) develop by Vicott Wong to find the iconindex**
2- LaunchApPath STRING contains the path to the executable file associated to the icon
3- ResPath STRING contais the path to the resource file which contais the icon image poited by iconindex entry. This path points to a DLL or EXE file containing the icon image.
So... since we want to add a icon/application we need to create the entry KEY 6 and we must create both STRING entries and DWORD one inside the KEY 6.
To add Tomtom Navigator in the HTCHomeplug (as an example) I added:
iconindex = 101
LaunchApPath = \Program files\Navigator\Tomtom Navigator.exe
ResPath = \Program files\Navigator\Tomtom Navigator.exe
So I'm using the icon storaged in the Tomtom Navigator executable file itself and my Tomtom is in the path I show in the entry. Off course this could not match your installation.
Im trying to find a good phone icon!
I havent found ANY simple phone icon in any resource yet.
Does anybody have a filename/index for a phone icon? Or even an exe/dll with a good phone icon I can use?

I thought creating a thread that shows the various registry hacks might be helpful/useful/contructive/destructive.
I am still pretty new to all of this and would love to know what others have discovered to get 'more' from our PPCs.

17-how to get rid of some of thoes annoying sounds while on calls or making calls (or attempting), such as adjusting the volume,
go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds
Loudestincallvolume = the sound it makes when you turn the volume all the way up (that annoying little useless sound) delete this key to remove that
Quietestincallvolume = the same but for when you turn it all the way down
Networkdrop = the dropped call /w lost signal sound
Calldrop = caller hangs up before you do sound
---------------------------------------------------
18-Change ringtone/vibrate/LED flash characteristics
If you would like more control over how your device rings/vibrates/flashes its LEDs on events, you can can change the Script values of these events. For example, for an incoming call performing 'activate device, play ringtone, wait 3 seconds, repeat':
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "apw3r" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
For performing 'active device, set volume to 33%, play ringtone, set volume to 67%, play ringtone, set volume to 100%, play ringtone (no repeat)':
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "ac33pc67pc100p" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
The following are the full codes available to you. Please note that all the codes are executed simultaneously except after a ringtone play / wait code. E.g. 'v1p' will vibrate and play at the same time, while vibrating for 1 second. But 'pv1' will play the ringtone through all the way first, then start vibrating for 1 second.
a = activate device
cN = set volume to N in percentage max volume
fN = flash notification LED for N seconds
p = play ringtone. Note that this will play the ringtone all the way through before continuing with the next code.
r = repeat. Note that this should be the last code in your Script string, if used at all.
vN = vibrate for N seconds
wN = wait for N seconds. Note that the device will wait this long before continuing with the next code.
NOTE: I tried this on my 6800 and changed the v0 to v1 and now it doesn't have just one long vibrate. v0 sets it to vibrate always.
-----------------------------------------------------
19-FIX THE SLOW RINGER
To do this, you will need your MSL, which only Sprint (or your provider) can provide you. Open up the phone app and dial ##778# (PST). You will be asked to enter your MSL. Enter it, and you will be brought into the provisioning of your phone. From the top left, select Modem Settings. On this page, your Slot Cycle Index (SCI) is how often your phone polls the tower for incoming calls, etc. This value is 1.28 seconds multiplied by 2^value (i.e 0=1.28 secs, 1=2.56secs) with 0 fastest, 7 slowest. The default is 2, but lowering it to 1 hasn't noticeably affected my battery life, and roughly 2.5 second (SCI 1) response time is far more reasonable than roughly 5 seconds (SCI 2)
-----------------------------------------------------
20-Change scroll bar size
Navigate to HKey_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GWE\ and tweak the following values.
cyHScr : Horizontal Scrollbars Height in pixels (default is 13)
cxVScr : Vertical Scrollbars Width in pixels (default is 13)
-----------------------------------------------------
21-Save Attachments or the Whole Email on your SD Card
The Key in WM6 changed from WM5. In WM6 it is:
HKLM\System\Inbox\Settings
For Attachments add "AttachPath" value="\Storage Card\Inbox\Attachments" datatype="string"
For the rest of the email add "PropertyPath" value="\Storage Card\Inbox" datatype="string"
For the paths above to work, you need to have the Inbox folder and Attachments subfolder created already. You must reboot for them to take effect.
-------------------------------------------------------
22-add the AM/PM to your time in the title bar
To Add AM or PM
1) Open your registry editor (either PHM Registry Editor or Resco Explorer 2003).
2) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls\overrides
3) Create 1st String Value: Name = S1159 & String = Am
4) Create 2nd String Value: Name = S2359 & String = Pm
5) Create 3rd String Value: Name = STFmt & String = hh:mm t'M'
6) Soft-reset
There has to be a space after the am or pm otherwise it will not display
Also
am=aM pm=pM
Am=AM Pm=PM
--------------------------------------------------------
23-Changing SoftKeys
Create the following keys and Strings in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 2
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 3
112 is the left key and 113 is the right.
Set Default to what you want the key to read (ie. SMS)
Now for each key create a new string named Open and set the target path.
--------------------------------------------------------
24-This edit allows you to see the duration of your Vision connection along with a button to disconnect it.
You see it in the bubble that is displayed when you tap the Vision icon.
Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click ControlPanel
Click Phone
[at this point, the buttom grey status bar should read \HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone'
Click the bottom menu 'edit'
Select new dword value
Change the value name to "Flags2" (no quotes).
Select the 'hexidecimal' button.
Type 10
Click ok.
You should now see in the 'name/data' section:
Flags2 16 (0x00010)
When done, reset the device.

Great hacks. Thanks for your contribution.
big list of em over here.
http://www.htcwiki.com/page/Tweaks+and+Hacks?t=anon
im usually not one to mess up my phone (ie im usually very cautious, dont play with what i shouldnt) but i wouldnt touch that ringtone modifying hack. i just tried it, hoping to set the ringtone more like it was on an old razr of mine (4vibes and a break) and it really messed up the phone application. like it wouldnt open. even after multiple restarts, everything. after i called my phone from another one, the phone app opened, thankfully, and then it started working but gave me quite a scare before that
EDIT- nope, that didnt fix it either. even after calling from another phone, once my 6800 is restarted, the phone app wont work again. god this will be the 4th hard reset this week. lame.
Duration of the rington
Has anyone an idea if it is possible to say the phone how long the ringtone should play till the phone hangs up and went into mailbox.
I mean is it possilbe to set the duration to eg. 30 sec or more till it hangs up.
I know there is a hack to stop ActiveSync from starting automatically but I can't find it. Searched here and PDAphonehome. Anyone have it?

Hi everybody,
with TouchFLO 3D 2 it seems to be easier, to use applications in landscape mode, as there is a 'WhiteList' registry key to define, which applications are allowed to run in landscape mode and which ones aren't.
To basically use Manila in landscape mode, there are 3 registry mods needed:
1) Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila
String: EnableLandscape Value: true
2. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName
String: TF3D Value: \Windows\manila.exe
3. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList
String: TF3D Value: Manila
Then manila shoud rotate when the device is rotated counterclockwise 90 degrees
To use Windows Explorer in landscape mode, there are 2 registry mods needed.
1. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName
String: File Explorer Value: \Windows\fexplore.exe
2. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList
String: File Explorer Value: FEXPLORE
To use Navigon MN|7 in landscape mode, there are 2 registry mods needed:
1. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName
String: Mobile Navigator Value: \Storage Card\Navigon\MobileNavigator.exe
2. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList
String: Mobile Navigator Value: MobileNavigator
Now I'm looking for a way, to use the phone app in landscape mode. Has anyone an idea, how to do this?
By the way: Please softreset to activate the new settings ...
I know the path for Excel is \Windows\pxl.exe, but I have no idea what to put in the Whitelist. PXL doesn't work.
Any ideas, anyone?
Have you been able to get the start programs list to scroll while rotated in landscape?? After doing the landscape rotation with TF3D2 Tweak I can't scroll the list of programs when it's rotated.

My programs list does scroll in landscape, but you have to make sure your finger is near the middle of the screen, over the icons. The black bands on either side aren't "active". I have no idea why the icons don't fill the screen to the edges liek they do in Portrait.

1. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName
String: Excel Mobile Value: \Windows\pxl.exe
2. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList
String: Excel Mobile Value: pxl
To use Word Mobile in landscape mode, there are 2 registry mods needed.
1. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName
String: Word Mobile Value: \Windows\pword.exe
2. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList
String: Word Mobile Value: pword
I did not find out, what influence the Value of the WhiteList entry has. The name must be there in order to use the app in landscape mode, but I tried with ExcelMobile, PocketExcel and pxl as value and it worked in all cases.
When manila runs in landscape mode and I start word or excel, it comes up in landscape ... When I the turn to portrait, it turns as well, but not back again, no clue why ...
Thanks for that, works well except, as you said, you can't rotate back to landscape from portrait, you have to start Excel in landscape. It's not perfect but it's certainly better, and it's nice to see my DVD database in Excel in wiiiiiiiiiiiiide screen, so I can all the fields at once :O)
Why on Earth HTC didn't add these registry keys in, I'll never know.
I wonder if there's another key somewhere that'll allow us to switch back to landscape from portrait, hmmmmm.....
Just get G-Config and add excel and word in as supported apps in their own right. Excel is a bit strange though, some of the screens it open up (e.g. when you insert a function using the Fx button) switch the sheet to portrait and to get back to landscape you must close the book and open it again.

My programs list does scroll in landscape, but you have to make sure your finger is near the middle of the screen, over the icons. The black bands on either side aren't "active". I have no idea why the icons don't fill the screen to the edges liek they do in Portrait.

Thanks for that I didn't think of trying it from the middle. Yep works for me

Now I'm looking for a way, to use the phone app in landscape mode. Has anyone an idea, how to do this?

Found out, that the phone app is \Windows\cprog.exe (like call-program).
However, this application seems to be portrait only on the TD2, I assume, the skins are not there, to use it in portrait mode like on the Touch HD ...
Does someone know, how to modify this?
yep...also would like to see phone app in landscape.. and also in-call screen. any way to use skins from Touch HD???

Is there a way to do something similar to this but for GarminXT ?
I don't have to add anything for whitelist, everything rotates when I press on my assigned key for rotation (which is my call button).

Mobile Word in Landscape on TD2
Hi Everyone.
Stekly suggested a different string value for the excel landscape mode (BOOKWIN) and on my Vodafone TD2 only this works.
Any ideas for the value for getting Word Mobile to work:
String: Word Mobile Value: pword does not work for my PPC
Thanks for the great help on this thread.
Julian
Ok have these settings working fine on my Topaz D2
Will this work to on the blackstone / HD ?
To basically use Manila in landscape mode, there are 3 registry mods needed:
1) Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila
String: EnableLandscape Value: true
2. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName
String: TF3D Value: \Windows\manila.exe
3. Add string value to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList
String: TF3D Value: Manila
HTC should have warn us that Excel editing is almost impossible in this capacitive screen,,, now I know why Iphone does not include it !!!
I tried some POgo capacitive pens (cost HKD 35) for IPhone but it does not work well on HD2...the seller confirms thatit only works well for Iphone..
I need my excel everyday..and I am coming from HD...
Anyone has a better suggestions aside from returning this thing ??
I have no trouble using Excel on the HD2 - took me a while to work out that you have to tap and hold on screen for highlighting cells, but other than that, works well for me
I can only use Excel when it is in landscape mode. I had to install a Long Press Call Button hack to enable landscape use. But now it is at least usable.
I think I really need a stylus... It's really hard to tick drop down menus..and small cells..
Any one knows of better solution aside from returning this ?
With pinch-to-zoom, tap-and-hold to select a range of cells, and Gyrator 2 to rotate it to landscape I don't think you'll need a stylus, although you will be a bit slower.
I had that too

In the beginning, I had that same problem, but - after a bit of calibrating your eye-finger coordination, I MISS a cell only one in (about) 10 clicks.
And I work with 28 cells per screen height (portrait) - that's about 3mm cell height.
(I had a problem selecting a range - but by chance, I figured that the trick is to hold your fingger down for about 1.5 seconds.
Then a <[ T ]> symbol appears for a 0.5 senods, indicating that if you drag
your finger, it would go into section selection mode instead of Scroll mode)
Edit - try the "DAGi" stylus - its transparent, and pretty accurate,
abd there are 2 samples on youtube showing the difference between the pogo snd the DAGi Styli
I know you may not want to hear it ... but if you do a lot of Excel, you should get Softmaker Office 2008. It is pretty much a equal to desktop office.
Yes ... things are still small .... but using zooomer ... you can easily use everything with your finger ...
In fact ... aside from editing some cells when the font is really small ... I have no difficulties at all ... Zooomer is your friend.
Cheers
Paul.

See this tute.
Use this app.
You open an app then look in DotFred/Windows for the name of the window, then add it to the reg whitelist.
Thanks
Edit:
Ok, found ut the problem -
you need the window Class, and not the window Title (not the string in "", but the name that comes after it)
Thanks
