Announcing XDA-developers Special Edition ROM v1.1

Version 1.1 of the Special Edition ROM is now out:
Fixed:
- Based on O2 3.17.03 ROM: annoying reply to SMS bug fixed
- Everyone can now use GPRS
- Pocket IE opens GPRS connection
- Serial ActiveSync now works
- Minor issues and cosmetics
New:
- Brand new version of dbView tool
- EzWAP2
- Our own band switch tool for US users, switch between all three bands
(no guarantee your hardware supports it, but at least you can now try)
This is now officially the coolest ROM for you, no matter where you live...
See the mkrom page for details on how to build this ROM (difficult), or wait for some kind soul to build the EXE, and just download and run it (easy).

Thanks a lot for your effort. I've really enjoyed the possibility to create my own ROM.
Is it possible to get a look on the source code of that welcome.exe app? So far it 's the only closed thing in your package.

The source is online: http://xda-developers.com/mkrom/welcome101-src.zip . The source for the welcome in the previous ROM was available too. Look at the mkrom page for details...
Let us know if you come across cool tricks we could incorporate in our ROMs too.

My PIE & ActiveSync over GPRS are now working well with this ROM + AT&T SX56 radion on my T-mobile USA device.

OK silly question...
I am here in the uk...
Last time i tried to flash my xda with the radio upgrade i lost all functions on the device and had to send it back to the service centre to be repaired...
If i run the exe that has beed kindly created is there any chance of screwing up my device again!...
I would be running via USB and the docking station that came with the decive!..
I want to do this but am a little worried after the last incident!...

Is EzWap version 2.5 MMS or 2
When you say:

What do you mean exactly by this ?
Because we have a serious problem with our local operator: they "upgraded" the GPRS system (by Erickson) last week, and since then, all GPRS on Pocket PC's stopped connecting. Is the new ROM the solution ?

ezwap 2.5 has got MMS

is there a program on the new ROM which can open pdf files instead of acrobat reader?

Try it.... it sits as small programm in the taskbar naming "start" (because it's right over the start button).. it runs always... taking nearly no cpu-time. when u start to write a sms then it begins to count (like nokia).

5 bumps without so much as even a search! I just searched google for h264.cab, ac3.arm.cab, and FlashvideoBundle 1.4.4. Every single cab file showed up first link. Does anyone even know how to search anymore?

It doest work, why dont you just try to use the build in youtube app that was posted here? The desktop youtube only works with some video because newer video were encode differently and it doesnt support flash 3.1 and to me it looks like Sh!t anyway. Just use the youtube application.

I do apologise, i did search however unlike you state the first link is not always a good one, many of the links were invalid. I have now downloaded the files and follwed the instuctions and it works through IE but not opera so im sticking with the youtube player which seems to work relatively well.

NOTE-2 Although at some HTC Diamond, it was reported that with some small bugs, it is working. But for me with Official ROM Ver 1.35 NOT WORKED
Without any problem, I was able to install. But after then, When I try to start to program from "Programs / Multimedia/ Footprint" I get the following error message
"The file 'HTCFootprint.exe' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
NOTE-3 If you have enough space at your STORAGE, you can try and see if it works for you. Do not worry, UNINSTALL is working perfect, At least works for me
But please do not forget that **INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK, AS STATED BELOW IT HAS BUGS STILL**
Please also reports your results with ROM details

Feb. 2ND) HTC Footprint CAB - WORKS WITH TF3D

This version of Footprint is based on.......HTC_Footprint_1.01822.3925 (This is the 2D Manilla version, but will work with TF3D)
I have done some modifications to make this work on my Fuze, but it should work just fine on the Touch Pro, or Diamond. Currently this version does NOT have the "Footprint Tab" on the home screen. I don't have lots of time on my hands so bear with me on updates. If anyone wishes to step in and modify it more, its all yours.

download, rename to ****.cab, move to your phone and install.
doesnt work on diam100 with udk 2.3 rom "cetificate...trustetd......"

(ASK) Instaling problem on elfin...

So let me goes straight in to the problem...
I just bought my self a nice elfin...and i really want to put some nice application or games on it...
But i had a problems with some of the instalation...such as :
i'm installing .NET CF 3.5...the process is going smoothly, but when i looking at the program list,,, there's no icon of the program....but when i check it on the remove program list...the program is there....
is it the program that run on the background or what seems to be the problems ?
This also goes with the program rlToday, spb..and etc....
I wonder whats wrong with it...some programs are ok, but some others can not run....
and yes i'm using activesync....
Is there any problem with my ppc ? or is there any required program needed to installing such an application ?
what is compact framework is ?
Please guys...help needed here...i'm eagerly modifying the look of my elfin and add niceprogram that i found in this forum...

Before we start, is your HTC Genuine?
Your phone is Windows Mobile 6.0 or 6.1?
.NET CF 3.5 shouldnt show up in your programs as it is something like Adobe Flash, when the program needs it, than it will run.
If you above answers is a yes, you can flash to one of the ROMS here like Onyx 4.7 or SX.

I don't have any i-Mate ROMs, but would be willing to search if I know more about what you need. I bet the following information might help others want to help you...
Could you list the model name or number of your i-Mate?
Are you trying to downgrade to 2003 or 2002? With or without phone? What language ROM?
Any chance you know the ROM version number that you want?

LOL - I see that is a hard to find ROM... HTC Worldwide doesn't even list the Himalaya on their Support page anymore. Other resources I checked don't have it in repository either.
One quick fix may be to Download the install package for Transcriber direct from M$. It is listed for WM 2002, but may work under WM 5.

Lots of ROMs in multiple languages to choose from...
Some of the links might still be good... Maybe an Upgrade instead of a Downgrade??? Especially since WM 2003 is next to be phased out of support by M$.
P.S.: I'll still poke around looking for the WM 2003 a bit... Post back if either option above solves your problem so I don't keep searching needlessly.

There's a little problem
I'm having difficulty changing the operator in the WM2003 nbk and radio files..it says that i have to use command prompt and enter the words in the instructions so i entered them and it says that it doesn't recognize the syntax...How do you really change the operator ID of the ROM? Please elaborate the steps..if you can.Thanks
