Info About BA

Hey guyz..i ve just got my new BA in my hand..now before i switch it to WM6...can some one direct me in the right way as i see 3 roms in the thread..as i wasent lurking around the BA forum when WM6 was released for it..so i dnt know the bugs or problems for it.please some provide me sum info...

An inquiry in a very important matter

i bought a htc p3400 for a month i read all most all the threads on upgrading gene to WM 6 i tried to know everything before getting myself in troubles so i thought that i must take your professional advice i know all the procedures all the way long to get my gene upgraded but i wanted to know it perfectly before doing anything.
my gene have WM 5 and i am attaching all my gene information pics so you would be able to tell me the best for my gene
so please refer me the links for the tutored instructions for upgrading and the best ROM (better be the original ROM of the p3400i ) ,the best hspl, and the best procedures all the way long .
another request if there is a tutorial video indicating the procedures, it would be very helpful

ONBL : 1.10.0000
SPL : 1.10.0000
GSM : 02.79.90
OS : 1.10.0.0
also i had made a ROM dump ( OS.nb , EXTROM.nb )
so i want to know how to use it and transform it into a flash able image so i would be able to restore it to its original state if anything wrong happens
i know i have said that i know all the procedures so why i am asking these so many questions but i wanted to know the advice of the professionals and the developers so i wont do anything wrong specially as i'm in a country that there is no support for htc devices, i have been told that no one would help me as the xda-developers.com users .
i know i asked for many things but please try to help me out and i'll appreciate your help.
i am only asking you to refer me to the perfect threads for my gene
and to refer me to the original ROM of the htc p3400i .

My sincere advice regarding upgrading with all these custom ROM is DO NOT GO FOR IT.
Ofcourse u can try these if you are flush with money and do not mind if ur gene becomes bricked.
Okay, Let me tell u some thing. Instead of changing the ROM, you can install some third party applications in ur gene which will improve the look & performance and there is no fear of bricking ur device.
My suggestions:
Batti - freeware
Pocket digital clock - freeware
SPB pocket plus or SPB mobile shell
SPB phone suite
Wiscode Pocketalarm
Second today
SPB Time
SPB Traveler
Vito funcontact - Shareware
Install all these and keep them in the same order in ur today screen and you will see the difference

thanks man for the advice but there is a solution for the bricked genes here
by orefkov and i had made a ROM dump for mine to be prepared
and i'm not going to do this upgrade for only the look

I only mention this custom rom because is the only available right now for the new genes (s/n: HT8xx).
The only risky process is the hard-spl. Flash a rom never gave me problems (already lost count of how many times I did it testing my cooked roms).
There is a official rom (wm 6.0) here in the forum, but I'm not sure if it works in the new genes.

and can i use dumped files other than gene.all the settings and applications remain in dump file or it will a fresh (like factory settings).

To dump ipl, spl and radio you need an original rom(wm5.0 or wm6.0) and use nbhextract to dump. I do not know if you can directly dump from the device. Maybe using pdocread

For HTCRT, simply select gene, and it will load the settings needed.
No. you CANNOT use os.nb from others devices than gene. it will not boot.
I made a kitchen for Gene and I'm planning releasing it soon.
I still have to correct some errors before.

and for the original wm5 i downloaded it and i already dumped out from it the spl and the ONBL but i am not sure how to figure which version it is so that is why i needed to dump my own ones so i would be sure.

The matter is ,as i traveled through out the hole gene section and read a lot i found that some genes have s/n ht8xxx but in fact accept the old hard spl without any problems , but some other gene with also s/n ht8xxx but in the conterary does not accept it .why?
in my opinion i think the way of of hard spl gene is based on the spl version firstly not on the s/n or the device manufacture date because mine is having s/n ht8xxx but with a 1.10.0000 spl as the same ones that accepted the old hradspl so if you have spl 1.10.0000 you would use the old one and if the spl is 1.17.0000 you should need the new one.
don't you think so?

hi sir, every custom rom which i got from this site doesn't contain spl ,ipl
every nbh file contain only os.nb and ext_rom.nb.
and u said u r going to use spl, ipl, from wm 5 rom.
i m novice but i also want to create a full backup of my running rom ,so i m searching a lot in this matter.the orignal posted wm5 rom is not matching with my running rom.so it is useless for me.
and i also have questions -WHY Costom roms dosen't have root certificates??
--can by available backup tools i can dump sucseesfully my all rom parts and cook a rom like original shipped rom?????

i had successfully dumped my rom into os.nb and extrom.nb using dump_gene_os_extrom.zip and converted it to flash able (.nbh) file using htcrt (in the attachments)
and while i was searching i found useful tool to dump spl directly from the device (in the attachments ) and i successfully dumped it.
i found another tool to dump the ipl but it didn't work good i think it is for another device (in the attachments too).
but after all searching i finally found the important parts of the rom is the OS.nb and EXTROM.nb wich you can convert them using htcrt(also attached)
because after you do a hard spl for your device hopefully you wont be needing the original spl again because the hard spl will allow you to flash any rom you want even the one you dumped.
but man try to be sure that everything in the right place before doing anything to your gene

P.s. Is this the right thread i am posting i dont know....is this is a wrong thread and if i am not supposed to post here then i am sorry for my noobness.....
well, dought a diamond few days back....its a used piece that has no warrenty.....so i have been thinking of modding it with new rom and s/w.....well basically i am a noob in upgrading roms...but i have seen my friend do it a couple of times,felt its a no sweat process....and i wanna try my hand at it....
well basically i need a good rom....(i know i should have searched the forum for roms....but i need your valuable Wisdom in choosing the right rom cause if i choose a wrong one i might mess things up.....and no i am not Lazy)

Windows Mobile OS Rom(preferably The Latest 6.1 cause its the stable one around....i dont know about 6.5 is it any good..?)

Mobile Office,Pdf Reader,yahoo messenger,a nice all in one media player..(like vlc on pc platform....it plays everything i throw at it...i just love it..)

You really should read a lot about flashing before doing it.

If you read everything carefully and want to flash a new ROM be shure to
do it step by step as it's suggested.
And I guess you have read it quite often, but you have to find your own ROM.
Try some and then decide which to use. It's most satisfying^^
And yes, 6.1 is more stable than 6.5 for now so you should take a 6.1 ROM.
But have a look at these two ROMs. I have tryed them both besides many other and I used the A.Z.T.O.R. series for a long time -> very stable and really fast! Will use it again when X3 will be released I don't know if they fit all of your personal needs, but especially for some special theme or so on you should search the Thread you posted this request

I would recommend two options. You can use Cloudy 1.1 with and without Manila. I have tried both. The WITH Manila has the TF3D with it which is very nice. However, my preference is WITHOUT Manila and then add SPB Mobile Shell 3.0. This is more user friendly.
Both options are very fast and with lots of free ram (more than 50Mb)...
I am not sure if these work with CDMA - please check first.
By the way, I think there is so much great help on these sites (and PPC Geeks) that you will always find a way to get your phone looking and feeling the way you like.

Sorry i forgot to mention..the Diamond i right now have was flashed earlier...so right now its having a custom rom by diamond project team....well i am looking for a move basic rom.....which is almost or most likely official rom...

if you want a official rom you can visit HTC.com and download the latest official rom that have been released. whether or not you can use the custom spl without doing any harm i have no idea about since i do not know anything about roms and flashing i just know that HTC has official roms on their site

I wasn't able to download their ROMs because I bought my Diamond from a German reseller
-> Same phone, nearly the same look but an unsupported IMEI (?)

And as your phone was flashed before you should have no probs flashing a new ROM^^ So try some and then choose

(i use that one and it is faster than 6.1 so start with it,although it is a bit old it is still far better than the others IMO....but hey if you survived with stock 6.1 rom for over a year....then you won't bother with this one being released on 17. November 2010.)
almost all new roms are "1.56" so read the guide for 1.56 roms, if you use anything else your screen will look cyan and all messed up,but don't worry you can prevent it by reading or cure it by flashing the device properly with corresponding uspl/hspl (1.56 in most cases)
you don't need to bother with understanding this above right now,when you rad the guide it will be crystal clear to you
uspl unlocks the device for just one flash
hspl unlocks it forever
if your device is still under warranty i advise you to go for uspl since you won't have to flash SPL (let's say "put the lock back on") to send it for repair (flashing cooked roms voids warranty)
read,learn and search before asking something again (i am 100% sure that all questions you might ask are already answered somewhere in the forums,and if you know how to use search you can find all the answers...if not click one of links in my signature) and if everything fails,ask your question in dedicated thread such as Q&A thread in general htc hd subforum or in the tutorial thread i pointed in first part of the post

I've have a new gene i.e. P3400i with Original HTC ROM windows 6.... and i want to flash it with new 6.5 Roms cooked here by many members and i really appreciate their work ... I'm confused in choosing proper ROM from the POOL of ROM's available in forum.... i no this question is outdated but still can anyone help me to choose which ROM to burn so as i get good phone performance and also good in GUI!.... I've seen lite version ROM's here also but still not able to decide which to use for my GENE.....
my second question is, can anyone provide the GENE SERVICE MANUAL or REPAIR MANUAL and not User manual.... i need it... i'll be highly obliged if anyone provide it.. . i searched on the web but couldn't find..

ThanQ veery much rahman bhai, i've gone thorough those roms in the forum they are great but i need some soft looking GUI, m not saying that those roms are not good.. indeed they are good but i like soft colours... by the way can i change the look and feel thorugh some themes or something after installing karan's kitchen roms without taking up much memory and space??
