ok so ive had tmo for but 3 years and i have had my g1 for about 4 months ive been able to send and recieve mms and txt no problem till about 2 weeks ago when all of a sudden i cant recieve mms from a friend on att network again i was able to get them from her prior to that and we have both called customer care and both comps say "problem solved" which is total bs but i can get mms from other providers (metro, other tmo phones and so on) so my question is is this a network problem(most likely) or a hardware problem on mine or her side...its really not that big of a deal just annoyin at worst.
ok so for about a month now i havent been able to receive mms from att customers but i an send em i was just wondering if anyone else is haveing this same problem or not...h and by the way didnt really kno where to post this so if its the wrong section sorry
bump am i the only one bump
I am having the problem of not getting mms from ATT. I was on the phone with T-mobile for about 3 hrs and after switching my sim card out with my wife, they said that it's a problem with the phone be cause I could receive mms on her phone and her card couldn't receive them on my phone. I was all ready to receive a new phone when they called me back to say that it is a known issue that has been going on since january.
My question for you is did you root your phone to a JF release?
i'm beginning to suspect that is the problem.
user- xjreyes is also having the same probelm
When i first got mine I called t-mo and let them know I was having trouble . I could not recieve or send mms to people on att but I could to verizon and other t-mo members.
She said it had something to do with not adding any info in the subject line .
I am running cyan 3.4.3 and I havent had any problems since rooting .
My g/f works for Tmo and said that they've been having various issues w/ txt messaging.
didn't know that AT&T had MMS capabilities
Doubt its your phone... Im having the same issue. The MMS will either A. not get to its recipient or B. get there 3 days later at like 2 am. I've had this issue with 3 blackberrys and this G1. Its gotta be the service.

I Actually just got my HTC Hero a few days ago and i have not been able to send picture messages. Im on Tmobile US and have tried just about very combianation of apn's possible and with a Big NO GO. I Also contacted T-mobile but they were unable to help me and i even talked to various reps.
Ok so well everything else on my phone works just fine such as calling, sending normal text, using the internet and RECEVING Picture! But i just cant send them. Is there anyone else with this problem and were you able to find a solution? I've had my phone rooted since i received it so i dont know if after rooting it stopped working cuz i never tried that. I would like to unroot my phone but i just dont know how. I would need a nandroid backup of an unrooted image so if anyone wants to help me with that. I'd appreciate it!
^^Original Post on Hero Forums^^
Update: After trying the Hero forums with no luck since the forums are small and most users are new to android i decided to give the Sapphire forums a go... Has this happened to anyone with an HTC Magic??
Thanks to anyone who can help!
Bump! anyone???
I'm sorry I cannot help you out. but out of curiosity, what plan are you on on TMo US? can you be on the tones plan with this phone or are you on their $35 unlimited internet plan?

im on a 24.99 unlimited internet and text plan..
that is disappointing to hear. that is like paying for a ferrari engine and mounting it onto a semi truck 3g service plan for 2g speeds. i was hoping it would work with tzones.
Did they make you get that plan or could you have opted for the the web2go (i believe it is called that) the $19.99 plan?
I got the HTC Aria about a week after it was released i have been very happy with it after upgrading from the BB Pearl i love this phone except for i cannot recieve MMS from Verizon Customers i have called AT&T about this its now in Tier 3 trouble shooting on the issue, im curious if anyone else has a fix i can do on my phone for this issue, cause AT&T is taking forever to fix this, they call me back every 3-5 days since i got the phone.
I am having the exact same problem, except I had just begun using MMS. My MMS goes through to the verizon customer, but does not work the other way. The tech guy i had talked to had done every reset, reboot, restart and said if none of those had worked, the verizon customer would have to go check with their end of the services. The at&t operator even offered to do a three way calling to try and figure this out which is a nice thing to do. Hopefully someone figures this out...
anybody else had luck resolving this issue?
Hi,
I usually just read this forum for fun, but now I want to get serious with modding my phone and tweaking it to my specifications.
I'm currently using a Blackberry with Tmobile's prepaid service. However, I'm tired of my small 2.5" screen. Hence the reason I'm looking at the HD2. I want to start using Android because of its flexibility with customization.
Here's my question: Can I buy a HTC HD2 off of eBay, flash it to Android, and then stick in my Tmobile prepaid SIM?
If I can do that, will I have a problem with the activation of the device? I wanted to buy a stock Android phone but I've read they require a SIM with a working data plan or borrow a SIM from somebody using an Android phone. (I don't have access to either).
Final question: Will MMS work on this device if I don't have a data plan?
Thanks!
You can use a prepaid tmobile with any android phone as long as its unlocked or locked to tmobile. If you already have an active sim, just stick it in and it'll work fine. You only need a data plan if you get a phone with a service plan from tmobile store... if you bought phone on your own, you dont need a data plan. I use my prepaid tmobile in my hd2, and just pay the $1.50 for the web daypass when I need data for the day. Not sure about mms without data... never use mms.
Yes. I have been doing this since I bought my phone. Just popped in my old prepaid sim and you're done. You don't have to activate the phone as long as your sim is active (phones with blocked imei excluded of course).
Can't answer the question on mms since I've never sent one. But I assume it's the same 25c they charge as per my prepaid agreement.
Thanks for your help. The only thing holding me back is I would greatly appreciate it if someone can confirm that MMS does not need a data plan. Once someone does, I'm getting it off eBay and then flashing Android!
Can anyone confirm it?
Thanks!
As of right now, I'm pretty sure mms requires a data plan.

you have to call tmobile to confirm. i know tmobile themselves do not require a data plan for mms to work. my son has a samsung lg that sends and recieves mms with tmobile and no data plan, however my daughter has a mytouch 3g and is unable to send and recieve mms. i contacted tmobile and they claim it is the specs of the phone that is the problem. give them a call they are very helpful, hell that is how i found out cotulla got nand finalized, while on the phone trying to fix daughters phone, the customer service rep was telling me about cotullas nand progress and even referenced xda. it was beautiful. good luck
Thanks for the help! I'll probably call Tmobile and do a little more research.
I did a quick Google search and realized that my Blackberry shouldn't be able to send and receive MMS's as well. I'm not sure why I can.
Do you think I should take a chance, buy one off eBay and see if it works?
sending mms on android REQUIRES data plan...i was able to receive mms but can't send without data plan. You Can always switch to window mobile to use mms. Android on hd2 comes rooted so no need for activation. You Can skip it or activate via wifi.
I think my brochure I had about prepaid t-mobile said mms was same price as sms if I remember right. With prepaid t-mobile we have access to t-zones without having to buy web daypass.

I know for sure that sending/receiving mms is listed on the prepaid package as 25c so it does not require a data plan (for prepaid). It probably goes through t-zones like the previous poster said.
Quote from the t-mobile website
$100 /Refill 1000 Minutes of Talk Messaging (Text): 5¢ to receive, 10¢ to send
Picture, Video: 25¢ to receive and send
Availability: 1 Year

I'll try out sending a mms tonight with my prepaid t-mobile and see if it works without data.
UPDATE: I just tested sending a picture with mms with my hd2 using prepaid t-mobile without being attached to WiFi or buying a web daypass, and it was successful. The 3g symbol popped up, so it did use data through tzones, but it didn't charge anymore than the 25 cents it costs to send mms.
I just started using prepaid tmobile about a month ago because I couldn't afford paying $80/month for the cheapest smartphone plan, and so far I'm very happy. I can pay $1.50 for the days I need data, which isn't often, as I'm usually around WiFi... and since I put $100 on my account to begin with, I only pay 10cents/min and my account will be good a year as long as I have credit. I only spent about $15 this first month of service! It works great for anyone on a budget like me.
