battery duration for HTC touch diamond - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

I bought it a month ago.Suddenly the bat went empty within 16 hours and this happened twice in the row.I wonder if anyone can give a hint regarding an average duration with practically minimum use and applications closed.THX

it lasts me from 6am to 6p the max needs a charge

try flashing a new radio and rom, mine lasts about 3 days before it goes dead

I have a CDMA Sprint Diamond with the MightyMouse ROM. If I am careful, and make sure the RAM is running low than 40 then I could get it to work for about 5-7 days. Otherwise, regularly I get 3 days.

does the touch pro last as long? im not thinking so but i just thought i would ask.

I think the Touch Pro would go for longer since it has a 1340mah battery as apposed to a 900mah one like the Diamond.
My diamond can go for a while depending on usage. If i don't use it, it can go for a whole day and be almost full. If i text a lot, say 100 messages over the day it might last only 8 hours or so. But i have screen brightness on 100%.
Try using the latest ROM and Radio, and make sure that you don't have stuff on when youre not using them like wifi and bluetooth. Should be able to last longer.

For how long D2 battery lasts?

Hi,
I have diamond, and thinking to get diamond2.
I have a question for D2 owners.
How is the battery life on D2, because the original battery for D1 was terrible, I got the extendet one so it's ok. But as I know there is no extendet battery for D2. And the stock one is just a bit bigger then D1. But the screen is also bigger on D2, with drains more battery, I think.
How long the phone lasts with moderate use? Also is there a difference with 6.1 and 6.5.1 rom with battery drainage?
And maybe someone had D1 and now hase D2, so whats the + and - compared?
Thanks
I have had both. The TD2's battery is considerably better than the TD(1) in my opinion. I'd say the TD2 would be at about 30-40% charge once the TD(1) run out.
I think my TD2's battery is pretty good, as long as 3G and bluetooth are turned off. Other than that: abysmal (Not quite TD1 bad, but almost)

I'm getting around 90 hours. I recharge when the battery reaches 40%-50%. Generally bluetooth, wifi, and cellphone radios are turned off. I use my TD2 as PDA.
I find the D2 battery life on WM6.5 much improved. I seemed to be always charging it but now, it's less critical. Also, with all transmitters turned off, the lifetime is pretty good. My phone was on for a week on holiday and the battery was 90% by the end of the week having turned the mobile on for an hour or so to check messages a couple of times.
Of course, turning the phone & WiFi off isn't very practical but it does shown where the power drain comes from - no surprises there!
Cheers, Rob.
am getting 2 days , to 3 ...normal usage, and songs.
got even 4 days with normal usage. Can always buy a bigger battery
My wife got a TD2, and battery lasts for 3-4 days with her usage, and when I used her phone it lasts about 2 days. Not too bad, really.
The longer you have the TD2, the less you "play" with it and therefore the better the battery becomes. Never base battery consumption in the first month of getting your new toy
Cheers, Rob.
On ROM Base 2.18 drained for couple hour.
On 2.16 go 3-4 days with normal usage...
Regards
I have Duty HG R6 and battery drains FAST! Fully charged it lasts less than a day with normal usage on 2G network and everything turned off (BT, WF), few messages and max 2 hours of talking! And one more thing, anyone else experiencing that phone is getting hotter after 5-10 minutes of talking? Sometimes I cant put it on ear because of that...

Same here, 2 hours of talking and battery are gone, all other (BT, Wifi, 3G) are off, no play with device, only talking and some short e-mail read or write.
I search this forum and all users write that device last for 3-4 day ?? But what usage are to last 3-4 day, my phone is empty on half of working day.
And yes, phone are hot after 10-20 minutes of talking, some time my call last for 50-60 minutes, and this is terrible, like radiator on ear.
My call consumes eta 1% for 1 minute of call, (13 minutes , battery drops 11-12%)
Is this normal for this device, i have no answer on this question, but i plan send device to HTC service, because 5 h of talking in specification are far away in my Diamond2.
Maybe we should try some rom with 2.16 base and not 2.18 like miro666 sad. Will try it soon and report than and I'm using 4.49.25.14 radio...
I always have everything switched on with wifi and data access available when needed.
I run a 'lite' ROM, always install all apps to phone mem (Micro SD usage consumes a lot of power) and charge as often as possible.
I am probably what you would describe as a heavy user. I always carry a spare battery and an external power pack.
I need the extra power only rarely and so I usually make it throught an eight hour day on phone power alone with this usage.
Only a Day
I have a standard TD2 with a standard UK 6.5 upgrade.
Battery beeds charging daily. Im not even a heavy user. I make/receive a few calls, send a few texts, check my email and use "Brain Trainer" game for 15mins whilst on the bus going home from work.
The battery is pants!!

how long does ur battery last?

i am using my phone with few gps, few wifi, brightness 100%, software, pictures, 3g connection.
battery lasts for about 2 days or so, give or take half a day.
is it ok?
how long does ur last?
Variation 1 - Journey - GPS 3 Hours , Music (headphones) , WiFi at Gas stations , brightness 100% = from 9.00 in the morning till night and have to reload!!!
Variation 2 - School - GPS None , Music (headphones) - half the day ! , Pictures/Camera/Movies - 2,5 hours , WiFi - 30-40minutes , at these conditions it lasts about a day ....
Variation 3 - Mixture - GPS None , WiFi - 20mins , Music - 30 mins , brightness 100% , Camera - 15 mins .... lasts 2 days ...
One day had work at school , in the morning left home with 100% battery ... when i got home from school , device usage was 15-20 mins , battery - 96%
2 days is fine with all that usage, mine lasted 1 day on its first charge, and 2 days on its second, this is also including extensive use of internet, 2 hard resets, emailing, texting, and everything else possible with the mega
Soon you'll find you'll be using your mega less when the novelty of a new phone wears off and it will last longer.
Also as long as you treat the battery properly (charging only when needed) you'll find it'll hold a better charge too. My LG used to only last a few days like my Mega now, but when I upgraded my LG could easily last 2 weeks on standby or 1 week with my usual usage

I know we are in Mega fourm....what kind of upgrade was that? New (standard) Rom? We love longer battery life here too...
sorry I worded it wrong:
By the time I upgraded from LG Cookie to HTC Mega, my cookie could last 1-2 weeks (the cookie had very bad battery life at first which many complained about)
Longer battery life will come in time from wearing in the battery and also when(if) there are updates.

Ok, but you did not install any special program, hack or tweak.......since 1-2 weeks is very long......not many will reach that here with "normal" usage .......
My contract before consisted of 100 minutes and 300 texts a month (used about 80% of both each month), bluetooth turned off, updated to the custom 10n firmware to fix some bugs.
Though my 2 weeks of battery was actually due to me being abroad and had virtually no contact. So was pure standby time. I would get a week average though.

What battery issues?

Before getting this phone I did my fair share of research on it and every review said the same thing, super phone...terrible battery. Now I never owned a touch screen phone before this so I had no idea what the desire, Samsung or iphone battery life's were like and all these reviews were causing me some concern and led me to believe that my phone would be dying over 9 hours or so due to lack of power.
Now having had my desire HD a few days I just want to say wow what was all the fuss about? I get a full 24 hours use out of a full charge without taking any precautions to save the battery. When I'm at home I leave my wifi on continuously, it was on for a good 14 hours yesterday. When I go out I switch over to 3g and turn wifi off...only used this for an hour or too since I wasn't out much. And remember I only got this phone a few days ago...so the usage has been pretty heavy as I fiddle around with it, doing some web browsing, have all my accounts and widgets syncing, play a few games, making some calls. On the first day I got it yes I drained the battery in 9 hours but that was super heavy use...i.e. I didn't put it down once in those 9 house.
This phone easily makes it through 24 hours with perfectly normal use without having to worry about the power levels. Great phone and I love my first android to bits!
I'm glad to hear some positive things about the battery as Verizon has the incredible HD coming I plan to purchase when they get LTE.One thing though that you may not know is your wifi wasn't running continuos, it shuts off when your screen shuts off and comes back on when you turn it back on unless you fool with the wifi settings and tell it "never" turn off. But overall I'm glad to hear that

Does it drop the wifi when the screen is off by default? Not so on my standard desire as far as I am aware - unless this is something new in the HD rom?
Good to hear the battery is lasting well according to the op. Little 3g use though it seems and it is this that cains my desire.
There seem to be some mixed opinions on the battery life. I use mine quite heavily and have to admit that the battery life isnt the best that i've had but i'm happy with it as it lasts me what i consider a 'normal' day, ie, take it off charge at 7.45AM and after a days use (calls, internet and syncing all day every 15 minutes, music, wifi and bluetooth left on) and it gets me home for around 7PM with a bit of charge left. That for me is a normal day, if I know i'm doing anything else i'll put it on charge in the office/car. If I need satnav i'll always use a charger anyway.
So... For me it's OK, but not good, could have done with a higher capacity battery.
No Battery Issues At All
I received my HTC Desire HD 2 days back and have no worries about the battery at all.
On first charge it lasted over 12 hours and I was using it VERY heavily. I'm currently on my second charge now and after 24 hours of medium to high usage, I have 40% remaining.
I always have my syncs set to update/refresh as often as possible, so mail is every 5 mins, weather every hour, facebook every hour, have Google and HTC Sense syncing too. I've also left my wireless setting to stay connected even when the phone is on standby and am getting this performance out of the battery.
So it just leads me to believe that anyone saying this phone's battery is poor must not have used a smartphone before.
And with regards to the WiFi settings, you have 3 options. Go to Settings, Wireless & networks, Wi-Fi Settings, press Menu then select Advanced. It's the Wi-Fi Sleep Policy you want to take a look at. Like I said, you have 3 options; After 15 min, Never when plugged in and Never. Someone said you can have it turn off whenever you go into standby, this is not entirely accurate. With the After 15 min option, it turns off WiFi if you are in standby for 15 mins. With Never when plugged in it's the 15 min rule again except when plugged in. With Never, it just constantly stays on.
By default it is set to Never. I've left it as this to test how much it eats up the battery and I have no issues.
P.S. It's always best to do a full charge/recharge when you have a new battery to get it to use the full capacity. Charge the phone fully and use it until it dies. Charge it fully again, not taking it off charge until done, then let it die. Do this a few times and you should see the capacity go up. After this you can charge however you like although after time (months), you may see the capacity seem to come down, in which case do this again a few times and you should be good to go.
The battery on my HTC Hero came down to lasting 12 hours after 9 months. Did this a few times and not it lasts about 36 hours.
Yes I have my wifi set to never switch off...it still does all its sync'ing and mail retrieving whilst in stand by mode. I even went into the battery usage last night before I charged it up again and it had been running on the battery for 24 hours and 15 minutes and I checked the wifi usage and it said it had been in use for 13-14 hours and it had only used a small amount of power (less than 12% if I remember correctly)
i agree..
Its just as good if not better then the other smartphones i had.
battery is good.
just keep the brightness at 30%
2 days since I charged my Desire HD and it's at 40%, much better.
Wifi to turn off after 15 mins in standby, brightness at 100%, mobile data is turned off unless I'm out of the house (in that case, I turn off wifi) and that's with Buzz's overclocked 1.5GHz kernel.
I think any time mobile data is turned off the battery life is going to sky rocket!
Fortunately, by using ultimate juice you can automate this - using wifi when available and mobile data at other times without having to manually switch. Better still, this leaves both off unless the screen is active. Made a hell of a difference to my Desire.
i keep mobile data off (only turn it on when i'm out of range of a usable wi-fi)
screen brightness is at 30%
I use "Set CPU" to lower the CPU to 256Mhz when the screen is off.
I get all my mail via gmail.
there's also a hidden app (can't remember how to start it but it's a *# code)
you cna use that to set what type of mobile network it looks for (I've defaulted to use GSM but use 3G when required).
This keeps the mobile form constantly looking for a 3G signal when youre in a bad signal area (or in the bottom of your bag!) But this won't affect data, only voice calls.
The constant looking for networks is one of the biggest drains on a mobiles battery after the screen/light.

I've had about 8 HTC phones in the past few years and I've always been very pleased. Lime many others before buying the DHD I did my research and got a little worried about battery life. I wish people would just post opinions for the sake of it (especially in the first day or two of use) because it's very misleading. After having the DHD for a while now I can honestly say that I'm really impressed with it especially with the battery life.
I previously owned the HTC Desire and at first had much worse battery than the DHD mainly because of the AMOLED screen and it needed some tweaking after root. At the end I was getting at 3 days of battery with all the common daily abuse.
With the DHD I got 2 days right form the start and you know what it's like in the first few days. You pull it out for no reason, play with it, show it to everybody try everything and even so it lasted 2 days. Now that I'm back to just the normal use/abuse I get 3 days with no root, no custom rom or other tweaks.
SO anyone doubting the DHD battery life, FEAR NOT it's a great device!!!
G
I agree great device but could you please put your battery up on ebay for auction as I think you've got an amazing battery and could make Fair few hundred pound from it or even send to htc so they can use as prototype and make all of us replacements that lasts days like yours.
I personally think the battery sucks but with the hardware you carnt expect much more from the battery thy choose for this device.

My battery is about a week old. It wont make it through a working day (8 hours) if i use the phone for anything. It wont even last a morning (2 hours) if I'm making calls and browsing net more intensively.

Not true. I've had several smart phones, and I can't last a full day doing the same things that I did with my Hero. I don't have anything syncing regularly either. Weather every 3 hours is about it.

3 days of use? By my reckoning the main dictator of battery life is screen on time. I find that I get 3 to 4 hours of screen on usage time out of a charge. This would equate to an hour a day to last for 3 days. Unfortunately I use my phone a lot more than that.
I'm not doubting other people's opinions, but I'm seriously starting to think that I got a dud battery or something.

*NOTE*
i'm not sure what this setting may do to your phone on your network, but take note of all settings before you have a play around...
"call" that number to get the "Testing" screen up.
go to "Phone Information"
Scroll down and change "WCDMA preferred" to "GSM auto (PRL)"
See this post for more info:

Thanks both Blinkydamo and s0litaire.
Some interesting stuff there, not sure how it will help me if at all but I guess I will have to experiment...
I have HTC's since it came from QTEK.. I had 5 HTC before Desire HD.
Before this I had a HD2 (leo), and matching the most options possible between them, this is the faster draining phone that I had after HTC diamond.
Actually I've always thought that the HD2 due to the screen size had a very good battery.
I've been using desire HD a LOT since it's the first android that I had put my hands on my own, so I can be due to that, but most of the time I getting like 5hours or less from it which is getting me frustrated for the first time. Also there is a problem with this model, they probably won't be able to do a oficial expanded battery with this type of battery slot, due to the configuration.
However, I'll try to avoid touch it too much than the "normal" and see how it goes.. But I'm pretty sure that it's way faster draining than my older HD2.
BTW, I'm using "GSM auto (PRL)"

What is the most that You got out of the Wildfire battery

Hello
If any of you have a screenshot of your maximum battery life You can post it here. Let me start
It was going for 5 days, but my girlfriend started playing angry birds.
Damn I dont think I can beat that. The max I can get is ~3 days. I am sure I can stretch it to 5 days, but that would mean completely abstaining from my Wildfire for the 5 days, which is, well, difficult.
Try to beat this, guys
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=170264&view=findpost&p=7648510
10 days 16 hours 23 minutes 55 seconds
and still charged at 10%
http://capableandroid.blogspot.com/2011/07/thoughts.html
50% left
Looking at all the replies here, I think I'll have to go for a "min-usage" policy for the next charge - discharge cycle.
Also, I am extremely curious for the 10 day result that is posted. Was it achieved on the standard battery supplied with the Wildfire? Or one of those larger ones?
3xeno
It's on the standard battery with the stock 2.2 rom.
Ok, thats amazing results, but it was achieved with sync and data off, right? I cant survive without data connection, and thats why I bought an smartphone.
I can use it for maximun 3 days, with 3g and sync all the time.
I've had 5 days with an overclocked Wildfire, running CM 7.0.3 and JuiceDefender. I'll grab a screenshot next time.
I think I should post in the quite opposite thread if any.
Can't live without fully using my phone (at the moment).

My battery lasts for more than 3 days and 15 hours???

Dear All,
I don't know really what caused this big improvment but let me share it with you.
First of all I have a Samsung Focus with a standard battery bought it from the USA at 10-2010.
The phone before the NoDo update lasts for more than a day but less than 2 days with little use and with heavy use it lasts for less than a day , Let's say 18 hours or less.
Any way I got the Mango RTM installed without Chevron and at the first week the battery lasts for 1 Day and 18 hours as per the Battery saver indicator.
4 days ago I forgot the phone plugged in for 10 hours and when I removed it the battery said that it will last 3 day and 18 hours?????
I said what the hell?
I thought it was a bad indication and removed the battery and replugged it again and yet it said that it will last for 3 days and 18 hours.
Now I passed the 3 days and 18 hours of using the phone (very little usage just a couple of calls or so) and I still have 10 percent left?
Any explanations of this weird but good behavior ???
I don't think you'll get any
But I'd say enjoy the ride and post back if it happens again. If that happens, please take snaps of your battery and charger and post here.
Also, you didn't mention if you were using GPRS/Wifi or any data connection in the 3+ day period. That affects the battery a lot. Per example, I am on Mango B1 (7661) and I'm getting 1 day and 12h with GPRS on and about 2 days+ with no data connections at all and litttle use (probably close to 3 days). Regardless of the battery projection.
used wifi to sync e-mails for 10 minutes and a couple or more calls not more than 10 minutes also with no GPRS , 3g or so ever.
But that's really something I can't understand it was one day half the battery that I have now...
I will post screen shots after trying again (If I remember to ).
Thanks.
Where do I find something that actually tells me how many days or hrs. I have on a fully charged battery? I was wondering where that was...
On Mango only not any previous OS versions:
Go to Setting then Battery Saver you will see how long is left till you need to recharge.
On any Mango version, in settings you can check the battery status.
Pre Mango you can use a homebrew Battery Meter or read about it.
Thank you for that. Hopefully I'll have Mango in a couple of days...
