Freeware
Hello, this is the ppc freeware sit that i used to visit, I short from most: www.pdagold.com, www.freewareppc.com, www.pocketpcfreeware.com
I download so... many apps from there. for net-brow i used PIEPlus, coz opera didn't release for WM , Hope that will help you a little...
if you by drag'n'drop mean from your pc to your device then use explore device in activesync
ah.... thanks.. didnt realise there was an explore... cheers
Late Post
Sorry may be a little late, but have you try NetFront 3.2?
it faster and i think best web browser ever....
anyone know whether MS Voice Command can work on XDA IIi ?
version 1.1 hang when running after installed.
maybe voice commander 1.5 fix this ?
it should be compatible with all 2003 devices

Opera have no intention on writing a browser for Windows Pocket PC.
They will however be relasing a version for Windows Mobile 2005, as the OS will be the same on both Pocket PC and Smartphone, so giving a sizable target market.
but the java opera version works ok on pocketpc's
http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,42332
but it being a java miplet would prob mean it's not the fastest thing
Has anyone tried to install the latest AutoRoute for PPC on a Windows Mobile 5 enviroment? Especially on the Wizard?
 Is there a version of AR for the PPC, I thought this was a Windows application only, I'll be pleased if there is a PPC version now....

I didnt think there was...
.... unless hes thinking of the Streets client where you can export maps of high detail... but that does not use a GPS ... least it didnt when I last used it.
Terran
I'm such an idiot. Apologies.
I meant the Streets in AutoRoute 2005 indeed. And now there is also a AR2006!
Anyway, has anyone tried it?
Great news!
(that's how I repay you for your lost time with my stupid question)
Pocket Streets now becomes Pocket AutoRoute and from version 2006 also supports GPS!!
More here.

***Update 3*** 09th August 2011
ALK have restored the CP8 download. Link here - thanks to Antus.
***Update 2*** 06th June 2011
It would seem with the introduction of CoPilot 9, a number of changes have occurred to their web site. As such, the old free APK update for CP8 has been removed from their system and can no longer be downloaded. It's still legit to own as it requires activation, so if someone could host the file contact me and I'll add the link, otherwise, this thread is effectively invalid. Sadly I no longer have the APK in question, because I just invested in CP9.
***Update*** 15th August 2010
This isn't specifically for the HD2. In fact this works for any device! WinMo -> Android OR Android -> WinMo.
Since those geniuses Coutlla/Dan fixed GPS for the HD2 Android, I thought for those of you who have purchased Co-Pilot and wish to transfer it over to Android, I'd make a small guide.
Requirements:
- A *LEGAL* copy of CoPilot 8 for Windows Mobile and the license key
- The latest version of CoPilot 8 for Android (works in Froyo now): LINK RESTORED
I bought it about 8 months ago for my HD2, for Windows Mobile 6.5. Great piece of software. I contacted ALK to ask if I could transfer between OS's and they said no, it wouldn't work! It also clearly states on their web site that transfers don't work: LINK RESTORED
So being stubborn, I thought I'd take my own license from WinMo and deactivate it, stick it into Android and needless to say - it works and I have a fully legal copy of CoPilot 8 running on my Android Froyo device. Those cheeky beggers at ALK!!!
So how to get it working:
Make sure you still have CoPilot installed under Windows Mobile and activated;
Launch CoPilot. Go to the Menu|Settings|Licensing (NOTE: If you can't see this, find "More Settings" and select that first to show Licensing);
Select your Map Region from the list (Mine was UK and Ireland), then press "Deactivate";
CoPilot will now shut down;
Boot into Android and using an installer, install the APK file which is in the requirements section at the top of the page or here (LINK RESTORED);
Open CoPilot from the Menu and it will ask for your license info. Enter this as you did when you first bought CoPilot (usually a username and password);
Bada Bing. That should be it, all working!
Just to clarify one further time, this is only for legally purchased licenses. No questions about dodgy software please. Thank you.
Very interesting, thanks !
How about Map data ? where do u put it on the card ?

It should be on the root of your SD Card in a folder "CoPilot".
I wonder if the text to speech feature will also work.... using the current key.
Thanks, thought that would work, and now I know it will! I'll be setting it up as well.
That was the only reason I would need to go back to WM. I use CP8 all the time!

Haha, my motivation for switching was the same. It's better in Android IMO. For example you use the Android keyboard so it's qwerty and accepts voice input. It also has controllable volume over bluetooth For me I always listen to Music via bluetooth and in WinMo there was no control over individual volumes. If I had the volume at a normal level for music, the speech was far too loud. Now it's all controllable

Would anyone mind if I wrote this up on the front page, as it's great news. Anyone foresee any issues if this becomes 'publicised'? If so, I will hold off.

My only concern would be that Copilot ALK may not want us to transfer. But I do think that other HD2 owners or anyone coming from WM should be, and would be, happy to transfer/use CP8 that they paid for on Android.
So I guess ...go for it. I'm switching ASAP just in case...hehe.
Ok, cool thanks. Just thought I'd quickly check - I had the same thoughts as you (noellenchris). I've written up a short article on this, so it should get published sometime tonight/tomorrow (GMT).
If there any strong objections let me know
All working, the only thing I should have done was deactivate Premium Live Services first in WM.... before the UK/IRELAND maps.... not really a big problem as the live services are a waste of time anyway.
To be honest, comparing Copilot to the free Google Navigation app I think Copilot will be dead and buried within a year.
what about tomtom navigator?
deactivation in android?

I have done this before to transfer between winmo devices and it works a treat. Do you know if you can do the reverse of this and deactivate it in Android and then reactivate it back in winmo? Be useful to know before I get locked in to android.

Yes it is 100% reversible. ALK can't be bothered with all the enquires I think and I truly believe it's a good way for them to make a quick extra money! As a user who paid for it once, I refuse to pay again. Take Photoshop for example, if you buy it for a mac, you can use the same license on a PC and vice versa.
Enjoy!

AFAIK, there is no TomTom for Android. Quite frankly they are so behind with their mobile software, it's just not worth using anyway.
Hope ALK is planning on integrating the contacts in CP8.... Other than that, it works great.

Yes you can, but you have to contact them via email or their web site. Just explain and ask them to release your license. I've done it on numerous occasions.

I have been trying to find the best GPS software to use on my phone. I have tried all the different kinds of apps (Garmin, NDrive 10, iGo…..) but found that Garmin seems to be the best with the maps it uses. The only problem is that the Garmin Mobile XT v5.00.20w is a bit old for most people.
I have been thinking about why Garmin stopped updating the Garmin Mobile XT software. I realized that Garmin is only updating the Garmin Asus Nüvifone M10 – which is actually running on Windows Mobile 6.5.3
Therefore, I wanted to update my Garmin Mobile app to the version that is being used on the Nüvifone M10 so I can also have junction view and 3D views and all the new cool things.
Anyhow, I found the new ROM files for the Nüvifone M10 and even the contents of the ROM which include the updated Garmin Mobile app itself. I tried so many things to make the thing work but end up with an error that won’t load the app. I thought it would be as easy by just copying the new files over from the Nüvifone M10 ROM, but I was wrong.
Does anyone think they can help me with this project? I don’t think it would be a hard thing but I just can’t figure out how to make the new Garmin Mobile XT app to work.
I have a Windows Mobile 6.5.3 phone (Samsung Omnia 2) and would love to have Garmin Mobile XT v 5.86.10 working on my phone
I would really appreciate anyone’s help. Thank you so much!
Great idea! Sorry I'm not able to help much. Will help to test once you get it working though.

i second that..

We need a bit more than just the exe and some dll ... as long as the registry part is missing there's not much we can do. A link to the that Nüvifone M10 ROM you are talking about could be helpful.

Here it is, the OEM, SYS and EXTROM folders dumped from Nüvifone M10 ROM V6.22.0

wrong. every copy of mobile xt must be activated. maps are free, except for city navigator.
GArmin mobile xt 5.0.20 has to be purchased and activated at a garmin center. dont give me any of that garmin is giving mobile xt as a free app crap.
all garmin app comes free either with a nuvi pna or a nuvi phone. without their device the only app available for wm is mobile xt WHICH IS A COMMERCIAL PRODUCT. so jj62mtp, get your facts straight.
it is still "WAREZ" when you are trying to rip it of like this
too bad, woulda been nice if this was possible
Anything is possible!! Don’t let people discourage you. Everyone has the right to their feelings and ideas. That doesn’t mean that I care about their feelings and ideas. Plus, people do pay for the maps (City Navigator) and yet just want something up to date to run them on.

well yeah i totally agree. very unfortunate that garmin is only releasing this for that particular version. im one of those that have those maps, but would like something newer as well. so good luck if you, or anyone else, decides to do it.

Wrong, the software Garmin Mobile XT is free available and is automatically activated when you buy a Garmin GPS Receiver.
Garmin Mobile XT can not be bought seperated.
And maps, except Open Street Maps, are not free. Either you buy them or u are eligble for a free mapupdate.
Btw. Garmin MobileXT v5.20 is doing what it should do, navigating.
JCV and 3D Buildings is a nice to have, but if ur device is not powerful, then it won't work
i think one thing we can all agree on is that it would be in garmin's best interest to release a new version for our phones. if there's a market for the product, fill that niche. who knows, maybe they are working on it. but im not the type of person just to buy a new phone for a new app. i'd rather use what i have, and im sure there are plenty of people like me. garmin should cater to the customer, not the other way around.
I figured out how to solve this problem but I need a bit of help. Can someone go through the Que.exe file and see what files are needed to run with the application? This might help – I know that the app uses -- img.dir, img_ce.dir & img_480.gir as part of the program. Please find the list of files that this app uses.

Note_prj.dll
WININET.dll
cellcore.dll
WS2.dll
AsuDateTime.dll
DDRAW.dll
COREDLL.dll
ole32.dll
OLEAUT32.dll
commctrl.dll
protobuf.dll
AYGSHELL.dll
libGLES_CM.dll
Thank you so much for your help. I found all the *.dll files except for protobuf.dll
However, I find the dll files in a folder content but without a actual file called *.dll
Does anyone know which file is the *.dll file or what I should do to get the above *.dll files from the folder?
Good topic.
I can run this app, but after Garmin logo all breaks...

Oh mannn, I really need the new version of garmin for my HD2..
- Hi there
- Can the Ovi Maps from nokia be ported to SGS in anyway ???
- I used to have i8910 years ago and with a hacked firmware I could change the Phone ID to N97 For example and use all Nokia services.
- I only need the Ovi Maps as it has offline Maps for Egypt.
- So any help would be extremely appreciated, thank you.
Ovi maps runs on symbian os so i imagine it would be incredibly difficult to port it over.
Just like most windows software won't work on linux and vice versa.

You should try Android navigation apps (f.e. iGO, Sygic, Navigon). They also should have offline maps for Egypt.
