Hi all,
I was wondering if there's a backup tool for Custom Roms which are based on Topaz Rom.
I love the custom roms, but it's quite annoying to configure everything again after flashing my device, like email-accounts, Favourite contacts, Weather-location etc.
although, PIM Backup is a good backuptool, but it doesn't save Manila/TouchFlo3D settings
I hope someone can help me
Thx in advance,
****head
yeah pim2.8 should have been updated to support backup of many well known applications.
btw, you can create a list of files that you want to backup with pim2.8 and you simply restore them after the new flash
also, look into sashimi. its not popular with x1 users because it lacked wvga support. that however is not the case anymore as of version 8

PIMBackup 2.8 doesn't set my Favourite contacts back on Manila3D.
but it does backup/restore my contacts & messages, but my preferences on TouchFLO/Manila3D.

I have successfully flashed my HTC Touch HD with his new Rom (v1.7) and it works great
and here is my Basic Question :
Do i need to install all the application back ??
if yes manually or i have a resco backup from my previous ROM (v1.6) and can i use it ??
the reason : I tried restoring first the entire backup after it it asks for PIN then i never set or it replaces the rom version back to v1.6

The best is to install any applications from cab once again. If you are going to flash your device more often, you should make use of the user customization.
I want to flash my Elfin with any WM 6.5 ROM. But the problem is, there are a *lot* of them in the wild, and I'm confused.
In http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541886, you can see a bar at the bottom which is absent in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426540. Also, in the first one, the start menu is shifted to the bottom.
I'm looking for a simple WM 6.5 ROM with the *least* modifications done to it.
Any recommendations?
Also, is WM6.5 good to use *without* M2D?
First, windows mobile 6.5 is now a very 'loose' build, which means Microsoft just works on the builds and release them as and when they like it and along the way, they work on new BETA features. Or features which do not work well.
Some of the builds have start buttons at the bottom because Microsoft changed some of the features of it (Again, its Microsoft issue).
Do be reminded that Windows Mobile Official 6.5 is not out yet.
Hmmm, thanks for the reply. I have another question.
When I hard reset my phone, M2D, and other M2D components like Audio Manager, HTC Album, Phone Canvas etc. is retained.
When I dump my rom following this guide http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_HowtoDumpRom, will all that stuff be there in the backup? I.e., if I want to flash this backup, will the M2D etc be flashed with it?
If not, is there a way to backup the whole thing? I'm not talking about the apps I install. I'm talking about M2D etc. which are in my ROM since I bought it. Since they are retained even after a hard reset, I guess there must be a way to back them up along with the ROM.

Also, can someone direct me to a guide for HSPL? I found one on this website but it's confusing.
Okay guys, I need some replies fast .
Question:
If I dump my ROM using this method (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_HowtoDumpRom), then *will* the M2D, Audio Manager etc be backed up with it? I think they should, because they were 'cooked' into the ROM, i.e. if I hard reset, they are retained.
...No one?
Well, rom dumping is quite hard.
What? This (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_HowtoDumpRom) process was pretty simple. But do you know the answer to my question?

If you want to do the right thing do it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426540
I've installed in my ELF and works very well!!!!
Hi, I've been searching around but I've only found pages relating to having the touchflo3d interface in landscape on the original diamond and the HD
Is it possible to have it on the diamond2 as messaging is extremely difficult in portrait mode!
Thanks!
Hi, welcome to the forums.
If you install a ROM such as this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=579076 then you will get landscape messaging. Just turn the phone on its side.
Not sure if it does it on official ROMs as its been such a long time.
Alternatively you could install TD2 Tools (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=536410) which has an option to switch on, under the 'TouchFLO Settings' tab the standard TouchFLO rotation function. I have done this and am able to write SMS messages in landscape mode.
With this approach you do not need to change your ROM (I am currently using HTC stock ROM).
Hope this is of help?
Balders
Hi, thanks for the welcome.
I don't think I'm confident in flashing the rom yet as I want to make a backup of my stock rom for warranty reasons. Could you please point me in the right di8rection of doing this? I've used a dump tool but it's given me a bunch of RAW files..
Baldrick! that was just what I wanted! Thankyou for that

No problem...glad to be able to assist.
BTW - if you like TD2 and find it useful I know the developer would appreciate a small donation (I have)...he is working hard on the next version which should be even better.

nothing looks weird in your build log...
just change the name of your main folder kitchen its too long and dont put spaces betwen words... I use XDA word
Be sure that your commanager works in the 6.5
is 6.5 or 6.5.X wich version?
there are many commanager cabs or ext or oem pkgs to try
cooking M2D Mega is not good for old devices ... hope you can get your answers... and aboout your butons.. maybe you need to add the volume control pkg or try to search for the App buttons registry config and add it.

Pim backup performs a backup of many regs... and ofcourse the structure of some things like sms... so... if your backup files was did in older builds... that backup is making problem due to the incompatibility.

[Q] Backup and restore over different kernel based builds, sense & "clean" roms
Hi all, I'm running an Android build for daily use and I want to update it.. The kernel of this build I'm using is from the old branch, not from the EVO, and the ROM is "clean", so without HTC Sense.
My question is:
Can I backup my messages, contacts, bookmarks and other datas from my current build and restore they in a new build with sense or in a Evo's one like i always did with Titanium Backup in the past?
If Titanium Backup doesn't permit that, can you give me some tips?
I apologise for the errors you might find in this post However, thanks!
just copy over the data.img

Doesn't work always. I guess the build must be from the same dev. to copy it just over..
I don't think it will works.....
From my experience, Titanium is the best as for the things you want to do but it also comes with side effects if you will use a new build/release (lags, freezes, etc). So for less problems, try using the a build & series from the same dev of your current android.
