Any other ways to quit out of a program? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

I looked and can't find an answer for this, hopefully it hasn't been asked before. I don't like having to touch the X on the upper right part of the screen to close out a program every single time, and was wondering if I could somehow map quitting a program to one of the keys, like perhaps the OK button?
EDIT: Crap, I need to move this or delete it, it's the wrong board. I'm sorry.

Automatically closing the key Pad?

Hi My first post here.
Is there any way to automatically close the key pad after a predetemined time of inactivity?
I seem to be accidentally redailing my last number (I guess when I put it back in the case- the green phone key gets pushed)
Thanks!
Mike
8125 (still locked)
8125 (broken -with a white lcd screen)
SX-56 (unlocked)
why dont you lock the phone before placing it in the case....
Come on
I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I really think astramike has a point. I have wondered the same thing before, but never bothered to look it up. There was really no need to be sarcastic.
I have not tried it myself...but this plugin promises to do that.

If you try it, let me know how it works.

Depending on your ROM you probably have an "autolock" function already.
Method one: Start>Settings>Device Lock:lock on wake.
Method two: (using the BatteryStatus Today-Plugin) second tab "On Wakeup"evice lock
Method three: click the lock device on the Today screen before putting the device in your pocket.
Method four: edit the registry
Method five: I forget...
--M
there is the lock link right on the today screen.. that is if you didnt remove it...
Moslki also has a voice dial button customizer that will map the voice dial button as the lock button, then you can just hit that and lock it

How to disable the X Panel button?

I've tried to replace the /Windows/PanelManager.exe with an empty file of the same name, doesn't work. Deleting the /Windows/StartUp/panelmanager.lnk also doesn't work, it just generate itself back upon pressing the X button.
I just want to map the key to start menu without launching that damn panels, is there any way to do this? Or is there a way to move the /Windows/PanelManager.exe to SD card?
If you look arround this forum there is somewhere a statement of the programmer of aebutton plus - a programm to map the hardware keys in WM and to add double and triple click functinality.
He described that most probably the X1 panel button is adressed on "driver-Level" if I remember correctly and therefore not remapable for him. It needs a special drive to do so.
This is what I know. What with aebutton plus you can remap the other hardware buttons of the X1 - there are several threads allready here that it is working nicely on the X1.

Yes I know. I've seen that post. Actually I'm also the user of AEbutton plus. It works on mapping the X button to start menu, but the button also launch the panels. So aside from disabling the driver level mapping, we can get around this by just deleting the PanelManager.exe. The problem is how to do that?
what i did was search for it in register and change it,
i also saw some tutorial how to do it around here

[Utility] AutoLock - Automatic Screen Locking Solution

I have a Kaiser, and there's nothing more irritating than accidentally bumping a button while having the phone in your pocket, then having random things in your pocket scroll through your address book until it calls someone. Or opens up IE and finds a high-bandwidth website. When you don't have a data plan.
Things like this hurt. I've been trying to find a solution to it, and I happened to stumble upon an olllllld application on another forum. It's called AutoLock. I found it Here.
Anyways, long story short, it uses the built-in Windows Mobile screen lock and turns it on whenever the phone's screen turns on. So hitting the power button is enough to lock your phone. It's super convenient, and for the most part, it's not too buggy.
I've been using this for probably over a month now. It's a lifesaver. I had the .exe on my SD card, and every time I reflashed, I had to make a new shortcut and place it into the startup folder. So tonight, I made a CAB file out of it.
I hope you guys get as much use out of it as I do.
A quick note: It runs in the background. Terminating it will not allow it to function. The CAB will add a shortcut to the startup folder, so a soft reset will start it. Otherwise you can start it from the shortcut in the Programs folder.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Is there a way to disable the program window that pops up after a soft-reset?
A: There is no way to disable the message screen on startup. Just hit the X in the top right corner, and it should minimize out of sight.
Q: When receiving a call, does the answer button and screen stay locked?
A: The answer button and the screen both unlock when the phone is ringing. If the call is answered/ignored/stops ringing, the screen will be re-locked.
Q: Will it work with my phone?
A: This program has been confirmed to work on a few models. I believe that it should work on pretty much any touchscreen device running Windows Mobile. Please, try it and tell me if it works!
Tested Phones:
Kaiser (ATT Tilt)
Touch Pro (Fuze)
Xperia

this is a very usefull program.is there anyway to disable message screen when program start after softreset?thanks a lot in advance
It's unfortunate that I didn't create this program. I only found it through about six months of searching on the internet. Maybe a friendly XDA-Developer could write a similar program and keep it updated with new features!
As far as I know, there's no way to disable the message screen on startup. Just hit the X in the top right corner, and it should minimize out of sight.
As for if it works on a Diamond... go try it and tell me how it works!
Awesome program! Thanks
Looks interesting. Thx for sharing!

So what happens when a call comes? Does it lock the answer button too? And the screen?

Since it's the inbuilt Windows Mobile locking setup, when a call comes in, the phone is still locked, but the answer skin floats above the lock. So the screen "unlocks" so you can answer or reject the call, but it locks as soon as you answer or ignore it again.
I've discovered, using my Jade, that you can do the same thing by just setting the built-in Windows Mobile device lock to 0 minutes... You'd need to provide a password, though...
First press of the power button puts the phone to sleep... Press it again, it will ask for your password to unlock...

Disable Power Button when Keyboard open?

You guys are the best at writing code for certain functions, so I thought to check here to see if someone had written, or is in the process of writing, something to change this inconvenience.
It would seem to me that HTC placed the power/screen off button that is located on the top, left hand side of the TP2 in the worst possible place. Every time I have the keyboard open and am typing I find myself accidentally pressing the button and turning off the screen.
Would it be possible to have that button deactivated only when the keyboard is open?
Much thanks and appreciation

Gordon,
I apologize for the unnecessary thread. I did a search and didn't come up with that thread.
Much thanks for the assistance.

[Q] Noob Question

Sorry for the noob question, but moving from HTC to Vibrant, I am still learning things as I go.
Here is the question:
I have Launch pro and I really love it. The problem I am having is I can not move my short cuts between the diffrent screens.
Yes I did a search and could not find anything on this.
Could someone please give me a quick hand
Thanks in advance
Just go to the screen where you want the shortcut, open the app drawer, long press on the one you want and put it on the screen. No need to move them between screens, just place new ones.
Typos and other gibberish courtesy of Swype
you can move between screens you just have to move the icon as far over as you can then hold it there for a second and i should transition
Yea I tried to swipe it to the next screen really fast, did not work. I tried holding it there for about 10 seconds, did not move it.
So is it possibule that you have to delete the old one and create and new short cut if you want that short cut on a diffrent screen????
Don't seem right to me, that you would need to do that
Ok got it. Thanks guys for the help.
I had to use almost my finger nail to get it as far over as I could, man that was rough
Thanks again
