is it possible with a reg change or something to be able to zoom the camera in and out with the volum up and down hard buttons? just easier when trying to take a pic then touching screen, and fiddling about with the on screen zoom.
cheers

Hey everyone, I just got my 8525 and have been playing around with a few customizations. One of the things that bugs me about the original button layout is that the placement of the camera button makes it nearly impossible to use the camera with only one hand (at least I always feel like I'm going to drop the phone).
So, I got the PTT patch (thanks Slueth255!) to map the camera to that button. However, it looks like any function can only be mapped to one button at a time, so the original button has to be remapped first. It works great in portrait mode, but in landscape, either the button is on the bottom of the phone or the display is upside-down. Is there a way to map two buttons to the same function? Or better yet, is there any way to rotate the camera display? Has anyone else found a better way to use the camera one-handed?
Thanks,
Sar

Trying to work out at what stage your problem is. I turn on TyTn with thumb, move thumb along to camera button and then take picture with central D Pad button.

Thanks for the tip about using the center D-pad button to take a picture, it makes things a little easier. I realized after trying to take a pic that switching the camera function to the PTT button won't work. It will activate the camera program as expected, but once in camera mode, you still have to push the original camera button (or D-pad) to take a shot.
After some more playing around, I found that you can take a pic with the scroll wheel button as well, which makes it easier, but not perfect. You still have to reach for the camera button to switch to camera mode and the scroll wheel is not good for taking pictures as it will change camera modes with a scroll if your press is not dead center.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to take out the phone and snap a quick spur-of-the-moment picture without too much fumbling around. Typically, I hold the phone in my left hand with my index finger near the power button and thumb near the PTT button. Or, in landscape mode, index finger on the PTT button and thumb about halfway between camera and comm button (with the D-pad resting in the palm). Moving all the camera button functionality to the PTT button would really be great. Getting the camera program to run inverted would also be nice, but I could probably learn to live with having all my pics turn out upside-down.

Yes, I see. I just tried it left handed and it is more difficult due to button positions. I also agree about scroll wheel push you have to be spot on with press else you end scrolling to another function.
Hopefully others will have some more tips/tricks.
Hey Guys,
what about using the Volume Up and Down Keys for using the Zoom while Camera is open? Is it possible?
When u press the Volume Buttons while Cam is open they have no function, in my opinion it must be possible to
use them as Zoom in or Out Buttons, what do you mean?
Maybe possible with: AEBPlus from HERE
There is only one Problem, u can only advice a button if a button is responsible for that and with the HD it'S only possible to zoom with Touch, maybe somebody knows which entrys have to be chnaged for using that
Heiko
Hey Guys,
is there any way to for instance chance the button with which you take pics on the HD, I have been taking pictures in the normal way but prefer to use the side buttons or another button on the bottom.
Help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks
Agreed ... is there any software that could do this. Heard software such as AE button could reconfig the buttons but cld these be done for the HD, would be really useful and less awkward then the touch screen in my opinion

Hmmm - I have AEButton Plus and I have not previously played with the camera and this button mapper.
I have the volume buttons mapped. BUT, in the camera application it seems that AEB+ is no longer able to trap the volume buttons. It looks like HTC have switched off the volume buttons in the camera application.
When I exit from the camera then the AEB+ mapping works fine.
so it is not possible to reassign other buttons to this purpose? too bad, thanks for the help and please let me know if you find anything!
actually it is possible to reassign volume up to Enter (with aebplus/aebutton plus) and use it in the touch hd camera app. Well... at least it used to work for me for some weeks. Now I have exactly the same problem and don't know what could have changed.
Strange thing is: When I unmap volume up in aebplus, do a soft reset, remap the button (with some luck) I can take exactly one picture - afterwards it is simply ignored.
really strange behaviour but it shows that there IS a way to keep the camera app from grabbing keys...
I did it Application released soon!

Is there any way to assign one of the hardware buttons below the screen or the volume buttons to take a photo with the camera?

I doubt you can make it take a picture with a hardware button. Yes, you can start the camera, but not actually take the shot.
that will activate the camera.
taking pictures, I am not sure but I hope there is something simular to Auto Hot Key.
if there is , then its going to be easy
hi guys i cant zooming option in my s5 camera app ... how can i zoom. thanks
Don't you just pinch the screen outwards?
You can either use the pinch to zoom or the volume keys
Once you have updated your device software to the latest OTA, simply go to your camera app, settings gear icon and then scroll down and adjust the volume controls to zoom.
