Is it possible to send texts from my PC through my Diamond, rather than using the tiny keyboard on it?
Thanks,

Hi, Is there any software for pc that use imate as a webcam?
Baris
Try http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/fr/index.php?soft=1226
download link is dead..can u post the file here..thanks
link is up again, but CAB seems to be corrupted :?
Sorry if I got this wrong, but wasn't the question for a PC-app which enables us to use the Magician like a webcam (like Logitech QuickCam)? This one seems to be a simple app for the PPC to take and view photos.
try this, it does work, though not very stable and fast:
http://www.zone1.de/
I meant, I want to use imate camera as a webcam. So there must be a software that we can install on pc that get the video stream and use it on msn or other programmes.
Is there anything like that?
Baris
Use MDA as webcam for MSN
more specific then:
http://www.zone1.de/PocketPC/LxCam.html#latest
I tried the program, but skype and msn don't see the webcam. Some suggest?
I tried too. The picture quality on desktop is so poor. And msn doesnt recognize the camera.
Any alternative?
zanfo try this
1. Copy LxCam v1.03 folder to \Program Files
2. Make shortcut to the LxCam.exe.
3. On desktop, go to Control Panel Add Hardware Next.
4. Choose “Yes, I have already connected the hardware”. Click Next.
5. Scroll down and choose “Add a new hardware device”. Click Next.
6. Choose “Install a hardware that I manually select from a list”. Click Next.
7. Choose “Sound, video and game controller” from the list. Click Next.
8. Click on the “Have Disk .. “ button.
9. Browse in the previous LxCam v1.03 folder and find simp.inf. Click Next.
10. Start the camera within the application on the PC. After that, start LxCam1.03.exe on Pocket PC. It attempts to connect with the PC. Sometimes it takes much time (up to ~30 sec.) until it recognizes.
I reinstall all as write in the guide, now msn recognise the webcam(poor quality)but skype can't see it.....

RTFM!!!!!
Use the built-in camera like an USB webcam with MSN Messenger on Desktop PC
Connection with PC is possible over WLAN or USB/ActiveSync
Runs only under Windows XP
Tested with MSN Messenger Version 7.5
Works possibly also with other DirectShow compatible applications
Works also with VLC
Does not work with Skype

That's the main reason for the picture quality. I just think about to market the product as PimpleCam® 1.0
Thank you for the inspiration
If someone could help please. I have used the google search on this site and just google itself to no avial. Here is what I am looking for.
On my friends iphone he has a process by which he can access his home computer as long as it is online and gain file access to every folder in the pc. Kind of like ORB but it is a phone based application. He can then open those folders and download any content to the phone. Basically, it is a remote desktop type file search with out all the other unnecessary desktop controls.
I have seen many different possibilities from freeware to paid but non of them seem centered around using finger/thumb control and Over the Air. Programs from Resco, Total Commander, Orb etc....
It would be nice to have a Finger Friendly Application that will access a network like Orb, without having to do so manually through the pocketie, and display corresponding files to the Orb networked Host PC. Basically a stand alone file explorer that is finger friendly to access folders on a host machine OTA. I would not see a need for it to stay connected all the time and keep eating up data. Just more like an initialization that grabs the available folders. Then connect as you search further or download to save on the data. Something not so heavy or clunky. Infact, if Orb would create a PocketPC UI for their program that was thumb friendly that would be great!!! Hint...Tene, A_C etc....LOL!!
I noticed that WinAmp of all programs used Orb to access host files. So, maybe something like that general file access.

-Suggestions So Far - Use Google For More Info
Resco - in conjunction with an FTP setup
Total Commander - in conjunction with an FTP setup
Orb
Soonr.com
RDM+ - http://www.rdmplus.com/rdm/page.jsp?p=index - thx trjons
Mocha's FTP Server - See Post 11 by Ather90
One may work for you but I am still looking for the "perfect" app.
Thanks,
Curious G
SoonR (soonr.com) allows you to do that, not finger friendly though, but, it is a freeware.

Checked it out. Didn't see a downloadable PPC UI to access the network. It didn't seem all that much different then using Orb as it is now. Orb is as it is, is a little friendlier.
Looking for a PPC UI.
I use RDM+ for that.
It opens up a desktop view but you can quickly go into the menu and pull up a file manager which allows for quick upload and download of files.

Ok, answered my on question. RDM=Remote Desktop tool of some kind. Again, this is an option. But I would like to keep these options down to a simple interface as possible.

If there is a UI that uses the Orb network out there that is probably the best.
Thanks,
Curious G

It is a desktop PC application that you install and select folders that you want to access remotely, and then using an internet browser (desktop or pocket) you can access these folders from anywhere.

I understand how Orb works. I use it as it is. But in order to access it from the PPC you have to use PocketIE. Looking for a PocketPC UI not a desktop UI..
Thanks,
Curious G
You could just set up an FTP server on your desktop and then use Resco Explorer or Total Commander to access it.
give Mocha's FTP server a shot..Its a Phone Based App which makes you phone an FTP server and you can acess it Globally

Is there an application where you can send text messages from your PC' monitorscreen while the device is hooked up via windows mobile center (active sync)?
I often use soti pocket controller (lets you view and acces your xperia on screen, great app for installing cab files and editing your device), but its just nog stable enough, sometimes the connections just failes on me...
W'd be a great help... (especially unlimited text messaging, you'd be texting like its e-mail!)
Btw, great site with tons of info... find myself checking it every day...
I know you can do this with Jeyo Mobile Companion, but I'm not sure if it works with the x1 yet.

When I had a C902 I used an amazing application called My Phone Explorer, but unfortunately they don't work with Windows Mobile Phones. I know that hasn't answered your question, but will be watcing this thread as I am also interested.
I currently use:
MyMobileR

Looks ok, but works rather slow, when typing messages in the screen, the application often skips some letters, but still testing.
There must me other applications out there that can handle this. So ill keep searching!
Odd request I know... But is there any app that lets you use your TP2 (or for that matter any Pocket PC device) as a USB speaker for your desktop. Save the criticisms.

try looking for topics that allows to use PDA/MDA as a webcam .. I can't remember the name of it, but there used to be some that allowed to use video and sound recorder by the device.
Atek
try this one - http://www.ateksoft.com/
i want to make sure this htc s620 works before i buy a replacement screen. the only thing i could think of was flash a rom, and it reached 100% saying it was successful but id like to test it more.
can i communicate to the phone over USB some how and run some commands? i thought maybe remote desktop the phone but that would mean installing an app to the phone (something i cannot do without a screen).
You can use mymobiler http://www.mymobiler.com/
With this freeware, you can view your mobile screen on your desktop and control your mobile by using desktop keyboard and mouse.
Just install it on your desktop, sync the phone with activesync and click on connect, it will automatically (and silently so you don't need to see the screen) install on the phone.
Thankyou so much!
i too would try mymobiler first- other than that you could try "mtty" and telnet in
