Using the grainy screenshot published earlier, and assuming 4.8 inch screen, this is a rough scale comparison with the Athena. Now I wonder if I should go for Touch Pro2 or hang on for this. Any opinions?
Just hang in there , until both is out , only then u compare which one is best for u and your usages - jimmunsw

I tested the video performance, and compared it with my three handhelds (HTC Touch Pro, HTC Universal and Samsung Omnia.)
Test performed on a 3 min music video (480x640, 25 fps, 44100 Hz, 574 kbit/s), with coreplayer 1.2.5, and optimal settings for each device:
Omnia:
Raw framebuffer: 442.74%
Universal:
Direct Draw: 165.28%
Touch Pro:
QTv display: 152.44%
Smooth Zoom and Dither turned off on each device!
So in conclusion, Omnia wins by a huge 277.46% over the next best device that is the Universal. And even then the Universal is 12.84% better then the Touch Pro!
Please bare in mind that the Universal is a three years old device with only 64MB ram, while Touch pro is brand new and 288MB ram! They have same clock speed but Touch pro is supposed to have a better/newer chipset then the Universal!
There is no doubt in my mind anymore, Touch pro is missing the video drivers, or could it just be that qualcomm chipset just sucks?
Why am I posting this here? Well, becouse I was considering buying the HD, but sense it has the same specs as the Touch Pro and even bigger resolution screen, I just dont know! I fear that it is going to be as crappy in performance as the TP, if not even worse?
Please help me out here guys!
Touch Pro ?
Coreplayer does not yet have hardware support for the QTV chipset in HTC Touch HD. It will get soon however according to this thread and then the performance will improve a lot.

Also the built-in Windows Media Player uses hardware acceleration. It is a bit limited in the codecs it support however.

I currently have, an omnia, an iPhone, a TyTN II, & 3x Touch HD's( long story) but I find video playback on just looks alone the iphone looks the best ( bear in mind you have to convert video for the iphone though as in it can't play your standard xvid files). Touch HD would be my overall winner because on looks alone it is very close to the iphone but it plays files converted for the iphone as well as xvid & divx movies. Depending on the movie I have noticed some caching but if you follow the sticky you can clear this up. The Omnia follows but imho the video quality is not as good as the HD, not to mention I had quite a few problems with mines with a total of 8x replacements not to mention the weekly rom updates thanks to secany, but overall the HD is the best phone I've had so far.

Hey guys
I'm thinking to buy the 7" Tab Plus or the 7.7" one(when they will appear ) and I was wondering if any of you have any experience with PLS LCD and Super Amoled Plus displays.
Which one is better,in terms of quality, power usage, etc
I googled for that but it didn't help much, and i'd prefer to hear from someone who saw in real life both displays
As we know both are made bu samsungand both are the best in market (even better than the ipad IPS Screen ) but Pls screen has more natural colours like what we see with our eye in real world . Amoled colours are so vivid like animation movies ,etc but it is very good in power saving and better in black color . Finally it depends on your taste and how you prefere to see colors and you should see both side by side to decide but personally I hated my friends galaxy s2 after I compared it to my galaxy tab 10.1
advice : (buy galaxy tab 7.7 higher resolution , better processor ,thinner and easier to handle )

thanks for your answer
seems it will be a tough choice, and i will have to wait till both will be on stores so i can compare myself although the 7.7 price is kinda much..around 700 euros
I like the natural colours so i guess i will go with 7 plus
Anyway,in the meantime if someone else has other opinions pls share
I would say Super AMOLED Plus hands down. It's true that the AMOLED displays portray images more vivid and with very deep contrast, but I wouldn't say that the colors are unnatural, in fact I find it to be a major advantage of the 7.7, it will make movies that much better. The Super AMOLED Plus displays also don't have a backlight so they are much thinner and use less power. This is technology much more advanced than the panels in today's TVs. The Super PLS displays Samsung makes (what the 7.0 Plus has) are also very good, some say better than the IPS displays in tablets, but it's still an LCD, not quite as good as the Super AMOLED Plus in my opinion.
Also do not forget that the 7.7 display is higher resolution at 1280 x 800, the 7.0 Plus is 1024 x 600, and in my opinion it will make a big difference especially in Honeycomb. But don't let any of us persuade you in your decision, if you can, go look at them side by side in person and decide for yourself. We don't know what the 7.7 will cost yet, but I imagine the 7.0 Plus will be cheaper so if that is an important factor for you then it wouldn't be unwise to consider it.
As far as other specs go, the 7.7 is a bit thinner and lighter and has a bigger battery, a slightly faster processor, and a 64GB option.
Ok,thank you both for answer
Well yeah the price is an important factor..the 7 plus will cost 300 euros and the 7.7 will cost almost 700 euros so I will stick with the 7 plus for now
Here is a video which shows both side by side if someone else is interested to see
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHOxPJBgieg
My first conclusion is that the super amoled looks brighter and colours are different than the ips pls one,but they ask too much..i will get it in a year or so when it will be half of price
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased the Optimus G Pro, and am really enjoying using it. The screen is gorgeous, with high PPI, and it's 5.5" in size, which makes my gaming experience that much greater. Having come from the Iphone 5, I am really happy with the screen, customizability etc... I also like the fact that you can install custom roms on Android devices, albeit not the G Pro.
Anyways, my dilemma is that I really want to get the HTC One, but can't justify spending an extra $2-300 to upgrade from my G Pro (In Korea, used G pro's are about $2-300 cheaper than HTC On'es).
In my opinion, the following are some pros and cons of moving to the One, can anyone add any other points?
PROS:
custom roms! (really big in my book)
higher PPI (I am all about HD)
really nice camera
awesome design, and not too big
CONS:
smaller screen
higher PPI, but lower megapixels (or ultrapixels i should say), resulting in lower HD video recording quality
phone gets hot under heavy use? Can someone provide more detail about this?
no physical home button (I like physical buttons, in my opinion they are MUCH less finicky than soft keys)
no DMB (DMB is a free TV broadcasting system in Korea, that is equipped with most cellphones)
Thanks!
John
Ok well it's up to what you really want in your smartphone. But the HD recording in the HTC is excellent, probably better than the g pro because they both capture 1080p video so same resolution but bigger pixels = more light, better night preformance, HDR video etc. make it superior. It does get hot, as it's aluminum body conducts heat but never worryingly so. Also any difference in ppi doesn't really matter as at that level it's just a placebo if you notice a big improvement. Sense vs LGs monstrosity is your call though. Also I don't know what the pros battery life is but take that into account too. Hope I helped

I had a Pro for some time. I personally couldn't handle the damn thing. It was far to awkward to use and the LG software is hideous. The one surpasses it IMHO. Remember, it's what I felt but everyone will think differently.

The higher PPi won't really make much of a difference. In my opinion the Optimus makes better use of the Full HD screen. On 4.7inches its hard to notice the difference between a 720 and a 1080p screen.

Hi,
i can't decide between the ONDA V975W, PIPO W6 or Odys Wintab 9 Plus.
The main question is if a 1920x1200 Tab is better when it comes to performance?
The performance should be better if they use the same hardware. But I personally prefer 4:3.

Not sure on the others but i got the v975w and i think its great. i brought it just as a cheap portable windows device (laptops are too big, heavy, poor battery life and Android/iOS is too restricted) but ive been soo impressed with it that ive pretty much abandoned my ipad and PC and now use the v975w as my main device for most things.
resolution has never caused any performance issues for me and you can always just lower the resolution if it did.
Sure you can lower the resolution but then it's not the native LCD resolution anymore what normally makes stuff blurry.
I'm not sure if i need 2048x1536 cause for eBook reading i have a Pipo M6 Pro that already has this resolution.
On the other hand i guess performance is only a problem when it comes to games and such a tab i guess does not
have the power to even run them in 1920x1200 - so they anyways switch the resolution...
Hey guys,
I am going to replace my old Z3 soon . I am looking for a new phone and found this U Ultra... but I got some question:
1) Comparing The U Ultra with other actual flagships... how would you rate the camera ? Is the P10 with 20 MP better ?
2) How is the brightness ? While watching videos on YT it seems it lacks some of the Brightness
3) What about the battery life ? More Size of Screen but same Battery Life as my Z3 ? How fast is the Phone going empty ?
Hope you guys can help me out a bit here

Hey mate, please remember, that your situation may vary, so I can only give my personal experiences.
1. I havent used the P10, but I came from a pixel xl and a HTC 10 before that. I feel it is on par with Pixel in most scenarios. One area it is poorer than Pixel is in fast action shots, the U wants to always use lower ISO, with a slightly higher shutter speed than the Pixel by default, rendering nicer photos with less noise IMO, but if the subject is moving fast, it cant quite get there. This can all be fixed in Pro mode. Where the U is much better than the Pixel is in absolutely low light, and in macro.
2. Brightness, well, if you boost it to max, it will burn your retinas like any other flagship basically. I dont think its weaker than most?
3. Batt life - this will be varied depending on usage/coverage of network, etc. For reference, my network is average (the joys of living in a big country with varied geography), i have 2 push email accounts, multiple push IMs going all day, location on, BT on all day (android wear). And I get 3.5 hours SOT with 12 hours standby typically. 50-60% brightness.
When I first got the device, I was in taiwan, with better coverage, and I was getting an extra hour of SOT and standby as a result.
1) so if you had the choose the P10 or the U Ultra ... which one would u get for normal hobby photographies ?
2) Well comparing to an S7 Edge, brigtness and colors seems a bit more dull than on the S7
3) Well the U Ultra got a bigger display and also an Extra Display... I have my Z3 here which has the same battery size .... so the U Ultra has to take a bit more energy ?
---
Well I have no chance here of testing that phone .... I like the Extra Display... I like the glossy look .... Only the camera being out dat much is quite a concern...

I have not used the U Ultra or the P10, however I read this earlier today:
http://www.androidcentral.com/huawei-p10-screen-protector-oleophobic-coating
The P10 does not have an oleophobic coating on the glass under the plastic screen protector. Now that doesn't have any bearing on the camera, but I just wanted to bring it to your attention.
The selfie panoramic is amazing.
To be fair I haven't use the main camera much. Indoors around my room.
I think it's quick, good results from all modes.
Flash seems very bright. Noticed that straight away.
Only had the phone a few days and it's not my daily driver yet. Need nano sim.
I think it's better to wait for the lg g6.
The 821 snapdragon on the HTC is under clocked. Has lower battery and the camera is looks to be worse (based on some reviews) .
