In my Qtek 2020i.
After the installation of some software. The Icon In the Bar of Today Screen for changing the mode from Portrait to Landscape are disapeared.
Some Knows how I can recovery It.
Thanks for all,
Uninstall the software and it comes back...
I had the same with PPCProfiles-Pro...lost the icon after installing. Removed it, the icon came back. It's a shy thing that icon, it's done it before too.
Cheers

Ok, but I don't Know what of the software that I have Install in the pocket is the cause of them.
I would like to Know, If there a key in the registry that do this action.
Thanks,
Yes please could someone confirm weather or not there is a reg key/tweak/hack for the XDAIIi as the sreen icon dissappearing 'trick' is really annoying.
Would greatly apprecaite a reply soon,
LydaiChris
if you search for 'landscape' in the registry you'll find the solution.
In HKLM\System\GDI\Rototion there is a dword key called 'HideOrientationUI'. Set it to zero to unhide/reenable it.
STILL NO LUCK
Can you suggest anything else?!?!?!?
It seemed to dissappear as soon as I increased the glyhe reg hack
Remove the SPB Software, I believe it is PocketMon or Space Saver
S
if it disappears again then there is a tool active which wants to mess with that registry key. I've tried that SPB tool also and it made my landscape icon disappear indeed, as some other tools... so get rid of that tool cause the landscape icon is far more useful.
Hi.
When I first got my XDAIIi, I did a corporate install.
What is SPB ?!?!
Is that anything to do with the o2 software cd that comes with the XDAIIi!? i.e. the GPRS montor, ZIP etc... !??!
Is there another reg hack anyone?!? :?:
Or a piece of software that actually resolves the problem!?
I would greatly appreciate a reply,
Lydiachris
the spb grps toold doesn't conflict with the landscape on the xdaIIi, I've kept it running and it didn't cause any issue.
The only option where it is specified for the landscape icon to be viewed is in the registry key as mentioned earlier... dig the registry.
If then, the icon disappear still not appears or keeps disappearing, as that registry key rightfully specifies the icon's being, then it has to be other (additional) software which prevents it from appearing, e.g. the option to prevent the icon from appearing once the additional program built-in/in is loaded.
Try uninstalling the corp. lot and reinstalling what is necessary I'd say.
as to the fact which application messes which with the icon... at least a few for sure, and as I recalled from tryouts I an spb tool did mess with it.
-scuzi mi errata, pero soy humana-
Is there a program which should be in StartUp to make this work? I checked the registry key (I have the same problem) and it is set to zero, which the previous posts seem to suggest means it should display.
Maybe it has something to do with "Today Timout" ?!?!?
Mine is set to 4 hours.
Does anyone know what the Today Timeout actually does!??!?!
Cheers,
lydiachris
ps. yeah is there any software we can shove in the startup folder which will keep the icon there?!
Sort of solved for me
I removed a bunch of "no longer used" programs last night and the icon mysteriously reappeared after a couple of soft resets. Wierd.....
Yeah but does anyone know what the Today Timeout option does?!?!?!
I ahve searched long time in this forum and cannot find it anywhere!!!
If you leave the device off for longer than the today timeout, you will get the today screen when you switch it back on, otherwise you will get the last application used
I have just been playing with the Tweak2k2 app and to be honest haven't found anything revolutionary in it to make it worth purchasing - these great forums (grovel, grovel) provide far more useful info.
One of the tweaks is to put the date and time on the title bar, which I tried and it seemed to place it over the battery icon so it is illegible.
I then reloaded Tweak2k2 and disabled the option and it seems to have left a block sitting over the battery and speaker icons - they are still there because when I click on where they are supposed to be they do what they are supposed to do (display battery/volume settings), but they just aren't being displayed.
Any thoughts?
Solved this - the tweak software left a blank (0) entry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell "TBOpt" which caused the icons to be obscured - deleting the key resolved the problem.
If you're looking to get rid of the menu bar at the bottom of the Today Screen, read on. This is not a new tip, but might save you time, as there's a lot of different versions of these programs flying around. Only the one below works on WM6 / HTC Touch.
I personally find that the Menu Bars at the bottom of the Today Screen really spoil the look of the HTC Touch's sleek black/grey theme. Besides, the Comm Manager and Contacts are both accessible via the spinning cube (or the camera button if you install Double Launcher) so there's no need to have on the Today Screen, you may as well get more space for plugins, or just to keep everything looking neat and tidy. See screenshot below!
Here's how to banish them forever (?!) :
1. Download ToggleTodayIIAlpha from this link:
http://www.vijay555.com/vj/releases/vjtoggletodayii/vjtoggletodayiialpha.exe
2. Copy it to your \Windows\Startup directory. (or somewhere else and paste a shortcut instead)
3. Go into the registry and edit this key:
HKLM/Software/Vijay555/VJTodayToggle
Change these keys:
Softkeysize = 1
StartSize = 26
TrayVisible = 1
That's it! I've had no massive problems with this so far, although I haven't been testing it for too long. I'd be interested to hear how people get on in terms of stability/bugs. You WILL get problems if you try to use any of the older VJTodayToggle programs in the thread on this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=243211
(SIP keyboard staying on, SIP moving to the top of the screen, menu titles disappearing but not the background, etc.)
...in fact, that's precisely why I'm sharing this info with you, as this thread is 39 pages long and it's only towards the end that things become totally clear! I'll post again if there's any unexpected side-effects, I'm currently minimising BatteryStatus and I don't know whether this will
Good luck!
Carlos
NOTES / ADVANCED
=======================
A: If you want to make your screen even neater AND still overclock your Touch, then, in step 3 above, you can make TrayVisible=0 then you can minimise the BatteryStatus plugin and it won't show up on your today screen. (right click on batterystatus icon, choose 'show rows -> minimise') I haven't tested this properly yet.
B: If you want to explore hiding the Start Menu, feel free, it looks superb when you first do it, but then I have found that the HTC biotouch (spinning cube) automatically re-instates the start menu bar when it's deactivated each time.
C: Please note, this program ( tt2.exe) DOES NOT TOGGLE, even though it's called that! Again, it's a 39 page thread, I warned you...
D: You can also run TT2.exe with a -config option to avoid editing the registry, but this would actually make the above even more long-winded to explain to any n00bs.
E: A nice new HTC wallpaper is doing the rounds without the logo. (As you can see from my screenshot, it's mis-positioned with the extra screen space) See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319830
F: Vijay555 has been meaning to release a new (non-alpha) version of the software for some time, but sounds pretty busy. He seems like an all-round splendid guy though and I'd like to thank him for this software and his continued postings/programming.
I have the HTC X7500 WM6 and I've been desperate to make it works.
I've been trying other version from the 40 pages thread, so I'll try this one and I will post result.

Good luck! The honest truth is that after I'd posted this, I discovered a couple of bugs that appeared in soak testing. I gave up in the end - it worked 90% but I would still occasionally get conflict, e.g. the SIP keyboard would appear at the top of the screen sometimes and only a soft reset would put it back where it was meant to be!

Yep I confirm that, SIP keyboard is there, and sometimes as well softkeys stay there after softreset.
Well actually for me it's even worse, it's hiding the system tray (the bar just above the softkeys bar) where we can add shortcuts icons and keep the softkeys bar enabled..
Im disappointed but thks for vijay555 for all the efforts
Perfect... without HTC Logo is even better...
Thanks Carlos,
I've just installed and its working fine. With the clean background from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319830 looks even better.
Cheers,
Marcelo

See my original post, have you tried setting TrayVisible=1 in the registry, this should show the system tray.
I followed exactly what u posted, it displayed it correctly the first time, then after soft reset it was displaying only the softkeys bar and hiding the system tray bar
Thks anyway
How does this look on screens BESIDES the today screen? I have used other programs on different WM phones in the past and although the bottom bar disappears on the today screen, it is still on other screens.
Also, can you use the bottom of the screen or is it just dead space? Some of us have moved the HTC Home Plug to the bottom of the page and if it is just dead space, it is going to look bad....

The menu bar is visible on other screens, this behaviour is by design. I cannot see why anybody would want it invisible on other screens, as you normally need those softkeys for menus in most programs!
As far as I know you can use the bottom of the screen, it is not dead space. But why not try it out - it's unlikely to do any harm. You can always delete it from your startup directory to uninstall if you don't want it.

Well it works well so far.....(Not my screen, Neo's screen @ HoFo)
I can't remember if the TrayVisible setting even works - I think it was something I was intending to build in, but never got around to it.
Apologies... I'm kinda programming again, had lots going on, so never finished the app. Sorry for you guys having to use my unfinished piece of cr*p. I'll make it work properly one day!

HELP!!!
I installed this, but I don't know how to get into the registry from an .exe file, so I just tried to open the file through my phone, and instead it has hidden my start bar, as well as the bottom bar. How do I reverse this???

How did you "move" the HTC Home plugin to the bottom part of the Today-screen without any plugin above it? I searched all over the forums, but I cannot find the answer to this question

Just soft reset your phone.

Use the HTC Home customizer to "unlock" it. Then you can move it around like normal.
However, it doesn't redraw correctly on the right side if you unlock it, and a scrollbar comes and goes.
i have a other solution!! PCM shrink installe it and your bar remove it s very easier! For become to the original config juste delete the programmz!!
won't stick
Hi..very nice and easy Zip File..just one problem: the toggle won't stick after a soft reset = one has to go into File Explorer..double click the Toggle File and only than the screen is "clean" again.
Any way to make the toggle "stick"?
I have not this problem! I install the cab i going on the explorer and today shrink and clik on after i reboot my pda ans the bar not appear ... You can try put a abbreviated of today skrink in WINdows/started for star the application automatic on windows sartup
the result of the appl:
I have this running at startup on my Tilt, works with screen rotations and everything! And the hard keys are still mapped to calendar and contacts for quick access, awesome.
Many thanks, couldn't stand those useless soft keys before.

Hi,
I just did a hard-reset on my phone, because gyrator (think) wasn't working properly and i hoped that a reset would fix this. However, i'm still having the same problem as before.
In TF3D everything works smooth, exactly how it should be working. The problem occurs when i'm in any application (typing sms or e-mail / browing with opera). As soon as i turn my phone to landscape modus, it turns the screen like it should, but after one second in landscape mode, the phone goes back to the TF3D interface. As a result, i'm not able to browse in landscape modus or type a sms/e-mail in landscape modus.
I think this has something to do with Gyrator (still all the standard settings after installation), since before the reset, the problem occured when i installed the program. However, it might also be another application.
I installed the following programs (i ignored the programs that i'm sure of that are not causing the problem, since i installed them for the first time and i had the problem before):
- G-Alarm
- Coreplayer
- Advanced Configuration Tool 3.2 (still standard settings)
- Massimo Colored Top Bar
- Microsoft .NET CF 3.5
- NoData
- Resco explorer
- Schap's advanced task manager
- Schap's registry editor
- tnyynt SD tuneUp
I tried the search function on the forum, but couldn't find a possible solution. Are there any people here that are familier with my problem?
Thanks!
I had the same issue. I isolated the issue to having 2 programs that handled rotation on some level.
I have exactly the same problem (tested with comics reader, opera...)
Yet I have uninstalled Gyrator... Could Gyrator have corrupted something? I suspect also the colored taskbar to be somehow responsible (as it had already corrupted my boot with another customised taskbar...)
EDIT: Problem Solved
I just uninstalled the last colored taskbar which had not the problem with corrupted boot, but which was the reason for this bug... problem solved for me
Damn, i loved the colored taskbar...is it still possible to have both (maybe a different way of installing the colored taskbar)?

Interesting. I also have the colored icons taskbar. So far running only on program seems to work on my end. I will keep tabs on this. Thanks.

A more complete test would be necessary to really determine the problem... the good news is that everything is ok now for me
the bad news is no more colored taskbar until another try (next time I install a colored taskbar, I will try every known crash test )
There does seem to be a conflict with Opera and replacing the task bar icons, specifically the battery icon. Try installing Schaps Advanced Config and change the "Today -> Show on titlebar" from "Battery" to "Clock".
I was playing some more today. It does seem to be the colored task bar. I added the additional icons for Bluetooth. After that, the issue re-ocurred. A soft reset seemed to solve it and no issues since.
You should try the darklord colored titlebar, it does not cause these conflicts. Search the Blackstone forums for the link as I don't know it by heart and the original version is in Italian (the link in this forum is google translated).

This is the one I am using.
I also had darklord colored titlebar and had the same problem. When I switched to landscape it crashed into TF3D. Then I uninstalled titlebar and everything works right. For me the landscape view is more important then colored titlebar. You could try to install colored titlebar by the .dll file, not by .cab, but I don't think that will solve the problem. The best would be, if somebody who has colored titlebar and no crashing problem, would write how he did it.

For me it was the same but then with Massimo's colored topbar icons.
I've uninstalled it and now it works just fine.
If someone has the colored topbar icons and doesn't have the crashing problem, please post which one you're using.
I have still have the bar installed and have had no issues since the last soft reset. I was playing in Opera and You Tube with no issues.
I am going to install changescreen again and configure it. I will post results.
Jacne Blue-earth taskbar installed and everything looks ok until now
I am experiencing a rather frustrating problem here. When I change the volume in HTC's audiomanager, it appears a grey column on the left side of the screen (see pic) instead of the green overlay in the middle of the screen as it should be.
What is the problem here and how can I solve this? IMHO, there is a PNG missing. But where do I find that PNG and where should that be stored on my device?
I just found another user with the same problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5028797&postcount=192
It seems that by installing A_Brians WM6.5 Taskbar gfreek edition, I did change HTCVolumeControl.dll.
I will try to change it back to the original DLL.
OK, I have reinstalled the original DLL from the ROM using SKTools, after changing HKLM\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay\OverlayUI from 0 to 1 the grey column has disappeared, but the overlay stays also disapeared.
I'm having the same problem. I think it has something to do with the custom taskbar you have installed. I installed a custom taskbar myself and it caused my music volume graphic to disappear too. I beleive it has something to do with HTCVolumeControl.dll which has been changed. I re-installed it but it made no difference. If anyone has a solution to this, it would be much appreciated.
Happy New Year!!
*EDIT* Snap! It looks like you found the problem at exactly the same time I posted this. Spooky!!!! If you find a solution to the problem, please post it here. Thanks.
Well I simply gave up after long horus of REG tweaking and changing files from the ROM and from the internet to get it back.
I hard resetted the Phone yesterday and voila, the volume overlay is back. It's an awfully dirty procedure, because I spent half of the night and a few hours today to get all Programs and Settings back. Unfortunately I had only backed up the whole system (including that overlay problem), so the backup was not very helpful at all.
I remember reading, I think its to do with that taskbar you have installed, I had it and had the same problem, now I dont (hard resetted) and my music bar is sorted
I uninstalled the taskbar. No change.
Then I tried to get HTCVolumeControl.DLL back from ROM, no change.
I treid to install a HTCVolumeControl.DLL from the Internet, no change. Well, there was a change here. I had WM Volume control suddenly. You know, the black and white control bars at the top right corner we all remeber from WM5.
Then I gave up.
