In my Qtek 2020i.
After the installation of some software. The Icon In the Bar of Today Screen for changing the mode from Portrait to Landscape are disapeared.
Some Knows how I can recovery It.
Thanks for all,
Uninstall the software and it comes back...
I had the same with PPCProfiles-Pro...lost the icon after installing. Removed it, the icon came back. It's a shy thing that icon, it's done it before too.
Cheers
Ant
Ok, but I don't Know what of the software that I have Install in the pocket is the cause of them.
I would like to Know, If there a key in the registry that do this action.
Thanks,
Yes please could someone confirm weather or not there is a reg key/tweak/hack for the XDAIIi as the sreen icon dissappearing 'trick' is really annoying.
Would greatly apprecaite a reply soon,
LydaiChris
if you search for 'landscape' in the registry you'll find the solution.
In HKLM\System\GDI\Rototion there is a dword key called 'HideOrientationUI'. Set it to zero to unhide/reenable it.
STILL NO LUCK
Can you suggest anything else?!?!?!?
It seemed to dissappear as soon as I increased the glyhe reg hack
Remove the SPB Software, I believe it is PocketMon or Space Saver
S
if it disappears again then there is a tool active which wants to mess with that registry key. I've tried that SPB tool also and it made my landscape icon disappear indeed, as some other tools... so get rid of that tool cause the landscape icon is far more useful.
Hi.
When I first got my XDAIIi, I did a corporate install.
What is SPB ?!?!
Is that anything to do with the o2 software cd that comes with the XDAIIi!? i.e. the GPRS montor, ZIP etc... !??!
Is there another reg hack anyone?!? :?:
Or a piece of software that actually resolves the problem!?
I would greatly appreciate a reply,
Lydiachris
the spb grps toold doesn't conflict with the landscape on the xdaIIi, I've kept it running and it didn't cause any issue.
The only option where it is specified for the landscape icon to be viewed is in the registry key as mentioned earlier... dig the registry.
If then, the icon disappear still not appears or keeps disappearing, as that registry key rightfully specifies the icon's being, then it has to be other (additional) software which prevents it from appearing, e.g. the option to prevent the icon from appearing once the additional program built-in/in is loaded.
Try uninstalling the corp. lot and reinstalling what is necessary I'd say.
as to the fact which application messes which with the icon... at least a few for sure, and as I recalled from tryouts I an spb tool did mess with it.
-scuzi mi errata, pero soy humana-
Is there a program which should be in StartUp to make this work? I checked the registry key (I have the same problem) and it is set to zero, which the previous posts seem to suggest means it should display.
Maybe it has something to do with "Today Timout" ?!?!?
Mine is set to 4 hours.
Does anyone know what the Today Timeout actually does!??!?!
Cheers,
lydiachris
ps. yeah is there any software we can shove in the startup folder which will keep the icon there?!
Sort of solved for me
I removed a bunch of "no longer used" programs last night and the icon mysteriously reappeared after a couple of soft resets. Wierd.....
Yeah but does anyone know what the Today Timeout option does?!?!?!
I ahve searched long time in this forum and cannot find it anywhere!!!
If you leave the device off for longer than the today timeout, you will get the today screen when you switch it back on, otherwise you will get the last application used

Hi, guys.
All of a sudden, BT icon (the one that's located in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen) just dissapeard :x I didn't install any new software, didn't perform a reset, or something like that, it just dissapeard for no obvious reason. Any ideas how I could get it back on the screen?
TIA,
Zeljac
it once did that to me a softreset got it back though
That was the first thing I tried but the situation is still the same
what if you go into settings->connections and choose bluetooth and change it from what ever it's set to and press ok
and maybe change it back again
If you have the last version of BTTools you can push in the new BT icon and, inmediately, make soft reset.
Of this form I have the old BT icon again.
Thanks a lot, mate. I did exactly what you told me, and the icon came back...
Tnx,
Zeljac
Ooops, here comes the problem again After gettin my BT icon back, I removed BTtools, and the icon dissapeard again. I tried the same trick again but with no results. So my question is open for your answers once again
I have the same problem, it was a day or two after I installed and removed GB-Soft Tweak, it went missing ... reinstalled the Tweak, after a few soft-reset, it's gone again until now. Do you have this Tweak installed?
Have you already tried to change \HKLM\Services\BTIcon\Keep or any of the other settings under this key?
Hope that helps
Matthias
Hmm, a very strange thing happend. I synced it another computer (the one that I sync to maybe once or twice a week) and after that the icon just came back. So far, it's still there. Hopefully, it will stay that way
Anyway, tnx for all your replies...
Btw, I don't have GB-Soft tweak installed, and I was just about to start playing with the registry when the icon just appeared again.
Greetings,
Zeljac
the value for that registry key (keep) was set to 1. so, I set it to 0, soft reset, still no sign of BT icon.
then i set it back to 1, soft reset ... BT icon came back on!
however, in the next reset ... it's gone. something is messing with it in the background.
I also need my BT icon back.. I-Mate ROM 1.72 Any help, please?
I had the same problem. Days ago I installed skin for the keyboard and mysteriously icon BT returned.
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=424
I think there may be a link between the missing BT icon and the number of Today plugins installed or events being processed at startup. I think it is an Operating System issue.
For example.
If I soft reset my unit I can get the BT icon to vanish.
If I then deselect any today plug in and soft reset again the BT icon re appears. However if I do not deselect a today plug in and soft reset the BT icon does not reappear.
So perhaps it is related to a timing of events on load when starting?
Ed
This could be a good clue. The timing on startup sounds like a good theory to the problem.
If you look in the registry under [HKLM/Services/BTIcon] there are some interesting keys named: Index, Keep, Order and Context.
Anyone know how these are used???
(The keys "Order" and "Index" seems most interesting)

Similar to what I have said but that thread says to uncheck every today plug in. I have found you don't need to do that. For me just unckecking a single plug is in enough.
I'm pretty sure it is a loading issue.
Ed
When you need to input text, you can click on the icon at the bottom of the screen to bring up the text entry area. You can tap on the little triangle beside the icon to bring up a window to select between block recognizer, keyboard, letter recognizer, phone pad, and transcriber.
On my 8125, it is taking a long time for this window to pop up after tapping the triangle. It is taking a few seconds, when it used to take maybe 1/3 of a second. It is quite frustrating!
Why is is doing this? And what can I do to speed it up like it used to be?
This has happened before. It was when I first got the phone and was installing apps and games on it. One day I noticed this slow behavior, and I ended up doing a hard reset and slowly adding my apps and registry tweaks back on one at a time to see what would cause the problem. Well, nothing caused the problem and it stayed fast for a long time.
Then yesterday I updated to Summiter's latest ROM and started adding my apps back on. This text entry type window was working just fine through most of it, and suddenly as I'm finally finished putting everything back to where I want it, this problem is back!
Help! I don't want to do another hard reset already!
I have the same problem, I use transcriber as SIP but since it takes so long to show up when you click the triangle, I just put a shortcut to transcriber.exe in the start menu folder. So, I just use the Programs menu, it's much faster
I like to switch between letter recognizer, keyboard, and transcriber. I suppose I could put links to them in the start menu, but it would be so much nicer if I could just figure out why it's being so slow!
Any ideas?
I've read this is due to having MS Voice Command installed, although I haven't confirmed this myself.
I have the problem and never installed Voice Command, so there must be another explanation
anyone idea what the keyboard exe is called?
thanks
This is supposedly caused by a bug in the OS. I use an application called 'Smartskey'. There is a setting that talks about reboot notification for a Wizard. This affects the time it takes for the input method choice popup-. See the text about it from the manual:
REMOVEDUPSDDAEMON=0 (0 or 1)
Only for HTC Wizard. The function is originally not related to SmartSkey. The HTC Wizard contains a program called sddaemon that is the voice command program for wizard. It contains a bug that it will automatically create one more
notification for each reboot. It will make the program slower and slower after a number of reboot and overflow the notification system. To set this to 1 will automatically remove the duplicated notification event. If you are a user of Wizard, it is suggested to set it to 1. The flag is harmless for other machines.
I cannot remember where I downloaded the program, but if you search this forum, you should be able to find a copy.
i dont use smartskey, so is it something else causing my slowdown? i dont understand.
is that a reg key your talking about there?

Smartskey isn't the problem. It solves a problem with the OS. zIt appears that every time the device restarts, it makes a record in a log file somewhere. Eventually, the log is so full, it takes longer and longer to pull up the menu. I don't recall all of the details, but I found it here. You can probably search to find more information.
The setting I put in the post is a smartskey.ini setting to resolve the problem.
thanks, might give it a try then

just put that ley in but stil doesnt seem to have done anything
Hi,
New here. I have been learning a lot from everyone here, Thanks!
I seem to have a problem though.... Every Hack so far that I try to implement won't work. Here are 2 examples:
Change Reg Keys for Left Soft button. I want it to point to my Agenda Fussion Calender instead of the Windows calender. So I change the Key to point to the AF exe location, being very careful to leave "" and to type path in precisely. I save the change and soft reset the device to see if it works...NOPE....When I go back into the registry to see what happened, the registry key is changed back to point to the microsoft calender. I have even closed the reg editor and reopend to check the change before the soft reset. Before the re-set my change is still there, but not after....
I have tried both PHMRegedit and TascalRegedit.
I have a US version of the MDA with ROM version# 2.26.10.2 WWE
Next problem I wanted to stop the system tray from showing up. So I removed the shortcut for Init_Tray from the startup menu....Well the tray still shows up. Now looking in the startup menu the shortcut is no longer there, but it still launches the tray!
What Am I doing wrong here? I see people making these same hacks and they work for them.
A little background on me. I have been entrenched in computers since 1983. Doing my share of programming (though nothing since I was kid...). I have been using pocket pcs for the last 2 years. With Toshiba 740's and e800's. So I am capable of doing this stuff. But for some reason I can't get these things to work...
Any help? Sorry for being so long winded
on your registry problem.. after changing the value manually, let the phone sleep or just sit there for a few minutes before soft resetting.. There is a delay write to the registry...
Thanks ShogunMark
I need to be more patient. I did this just before I read your reply...The hack for the soft button is now working the way I want. Now to get rid of the bottom system tray.
Thanks again!!
im not sure if you can exactly get rid of the system try completely in WM5.. however i could be wrong... i think at most you can only get rid of the icons in it.. but it does prove very useful for placing shortcuts..
I've been using my xperia for some time with out any problems but recently I discovered that the bluetooth icon that appears on the Start bar is completely missing.
Whenever I turn on bluetooth there is no visual confirmation in the Start menu bar. Bluetooth connection work as intended but I have no icon and it can be quite confusing without a visual feedback.
Does anyone know of registry keys that handle it or where these bluetooth icons are stored (maybe they got deleted somehow)?
Thanks
Iam having the same problem
I tried to uninstall all the recent programs i installed but the problem remains
I fixed it by changing some keys in the registry and then rebooting.
Unfortunately I am not sure which exact key made the difference, I changed a lot and then to my amazement after a soft reset it started appearing again. It is definitely a registry key on the bluetooth or the Taskbar entries (might have to do with enlarge start menu too).
Could u please tell me what extacly did u do?
Coz i searched over the whole forum for answer but still got no clue

As I said I am not sure, I changed some registry keys regarding bluetooth and/or taskbar and it did the trick.
Use a registry editor and search for bluetooth and taskbar entries. Be careful though because if you change the wrong keys it could brake your WinMo installation and then need to reflash.
I really can't help you more on that, I hope that I knew which registry keys fixed it.
I am experiencing a rather frustrating problem here. When I change the volume in HTC's audiomanager, it appears a grey column on the left side of the screen (see pic) instead of the green overlay in the middle of the screen as it should be.
What is the problem here and how can I solve this? IMHO, there is a PNG missing. But where do I find that PNG and where should that be stored on my device?
I just found another user with the same problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5028797&postcount=192
It seems that by installing A_Brians WM6.5 Taskbar gfreek edition, I did change HTCVolumeControl.dll.
I will try to change it back to the original DLL.
OK, I have reinstalled the original DLL from the ROM using SKTools, after changing HKLM\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay\OverlayUI from 0 to 1 the grey column has disappeared, but the overlay stays also disapeared.
I'm having the same problem. I think it has something to do with the custom taskbar you have installed. I installed a custom taskbar myself and it caused my music volume graphic to disappear too. I beleive it has something to do with HTCVolumeControl.dll which has been changed. I re-installed it but it made no difference. If anyone has a solution to this, it would be much appreciated.
Happy New Year!!
*EDIT* Snap! It looks like you found the problem at exactly the same time I posted this. Spooky!!!! If you find a solution to the problem, please post it here. Thanks.
Well I simply gave up after long horus of REG tweaking and changing files from the ROM and from the internet to get it back.
I hard resetted the Phone yesterday and voila, the volume overlay is back. It's an awfully dirty procedure, because I spent half of the night and a few hours today to get all Programs and Settings back. Unfortunately I had only backed up the whole system (including that overlay problem), so the backup was not very helpful at all.
I remember reading, I think its to do with that taskbar you have installed, I had it and had the same problem, now I dont (hard resetted) and my music bar is sorted
I uninstalled the taskbar. No change.
Then I tried to get HTCVolumeControl.DLL back from ROM, no change.
I treid to install a HTCVolumeControl.DLL from the Internet, no change. Well, there was a change here. I had WM Volume control suddenly. You know, the black and white control bars at the top right corner we all remeber from WM5.
Then I gave up.
