Long time lurker, first real post.
I'm currently running Duttys 2.6 Rom (1.14 SPL)on my Orange UK branded Touch HD and loving it.
I've trawled the Wiki and the forum and pretty certain I know the answer to this but anyway...
Am I right in thinking that I cannot do anything with the new 1.56 Official Rom until HardSPL is updated OR Orange UK release their own version (which is unlikely ).
I guess this also means that any Cooked ROM that uses 1.56 SPL (Dutty 2.7-3.0) will also be unavailable to me?
I did read about people forcing this ROM through USPL...but that sounds risky to my novice mind
I just flashed yesterday after a long time of pondering. I finally took the plunge and flashed the new 1.56 rom using uspl 2.5
very easy to do.
Did you do anything different than a normal flash of a Cooked Rom? The thought of it flashing the SPL aswell as the ROM scares me
I usually:
- Power to BootLoader
- Insert SD
- Load USPL
- Flash
- HardReset
When I try to use the new official HTC ROM via USPL it updates my SPL to 1.54 without much trouble but will not go any further.
The bootloader shows "Upgrade ROM code error Please try again".
If I run USPL again now it's at 1.54 the upgrade starts to go through then bombs out back to the bootloader.
I've restored back to stock 1.14 now.

Follow guide in my signature. Will guide you through process
That's the guide I followed to get to the "Upgrade ROM code error Please try again."
The bootloader shows 1.14.0000 so I went straight to Step 5.
The phone is Orange UK branded so the .exe comes up with Invalid vendor so I go to 5a and follow it through to 5e (which is the method I was already using when I flashed Duttys firmware in the past).
Step 5e leaves you at the 1.15.USPL bootloader and tells you to go to Step 6
Step 6 starts of saying that I should now be at SPL1.54 but it doesn't, I'm still at USPL 1.15.USPL because Step 5a-e doesn't tell you to do anything other than fire up USPL.
I know I'm probably being thick, but I think I'm missing something

ok, if you are at 1.15 USPL, next step is to flash 1.56 rom. Then you should have SPL 1.54 in bootloader. After this reuse USPL and then flash Duttys rom
Thanks for this.
I'm now using Duttys v3.
It still showed "Upgrade ROM error" after doing the HTC 1.56 Update, but when it got to the 1.54SPL bootloader I fired up USPL and Duttys installed fine.

Hello,
I used Step I nivid to downgrade to wm5 before I upgraded to wm6 from kamalneet, link to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349603
But I have some major problem with the rom, when I now want to donwgrade back to the official WM5 from my provider O2 it always says that the nbf file is to old and i have to get a newer one.
This problem only occured after I used "nivid wm5" in kamalneet's post for downgrading.
I can downgraded with different "Step1" Roms posed in this forum but not with the original one as it was possible before!
And also after downgrading with one of these roms the error message keeps the same!
Is there any way that I can get my original O2 rom back?
Thanks!!
search for HardSPL and flash it! after that your SPL Version will be: 2.4G.4PDA THEN!!! you can downgrade to ANY SPL. just flash latest o2 ROM and you will be back at SPL 2.20.0001 again!
i've tried it already it REALLY works!!!
i just flashed back to my dopod original rom.
Original rom is still the best.
here is the link

Whoops... i was wrong.. now corrected - SoftSPL!!!

Yep, just as nForce said:
You can use HardSPL.
But if you want to set it all back to the old-fashioned original-values you have to go through an even looooonger way (have done it by myself) - you have to go down to IPL 2.10 or lower to have your device back to IPL 2.15 from original O2 ROM, otherwise it remains 2.20 or higher *caugh* -
but then it's back to original in every aspect.
You have to go into SoftSPL (that whitescreen), then from WIKI back to IPL 2.10 (see wiki), followed by going back into SoftSPL and with whitescreen to SPL 2.15 or lower. After that you can take the nbf from the O2-Upgrade-File and flash with the ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe from Upgrade_Package.zip.
Just take the nk.nbf from the original O2 Firmware (after starting somewhere in %TEMP% or by extracting setup-file), then put it in "Upgrade Utility" flash it and boot will say:
O2-Screen
IPL 2.15.0001
SPL 2.15.0001
GSM 02.19.21
OS (don'tknowexactly)
regardless of which version you ever have had flashed onto your device before.
Happy flashing.
offtopic: what are these I/SPL 3.0something versions for? Just for preventing going to other ROMs?
Not HardSPL but SoftSPL
whoops... it's even easier than that.
regardless of IPL and SPL-Version just follow the steps to get into SoftSPL (the White-screen) WITHOUT flashing HardSPL
Then do the firmware-update from O2 (the O2-shipped-one) and everything should work fine. (after this procedure your phone should look like a virgin, with no HardSPL, with CID-Lock (if not unlocked before), original ROM and ExtROM)

Thats how I made it and it has worked perfectly!
Thanks for all your help!!!
Hi guys,
at first i want to thank you for any solution or info you provide in this forum, it helped me in a lot of cases.
I'm looking for a solution for a problem i'm facing, I have two P4350 which the second is from a friend of mine.
This P4350(HERA100 IPL/SPL 4.x the second device) was bought through ebay and had the german windows mobile 6.0 on it. I couldnt flash the WWE edition of windows mobile 6 because of an error saying "Invalid Vendor ID" so i assume it was a CID Locked.
So I did the first thing i found on this forum and after a lot of reading on how to do it, i installed the Hard SPL from Aserg. The problem is when I try to install the extended rom which comes from the distributor here in Greece of HTC Phones.
Apparently they have done something and somehow it recognizes that i have installed wrong SPL and always reboots(it displays an error msg inside the OS enviroment and after 5 sec it reboots) when the WWE OS start after the installation of the programs inside off Extended ROM.
So after some more reading i found that i could have used the USPL method for bypassing the CID Lock. Correct?
Now my problem is that I want to remove the Hard SPL to install the officially shipped edition of SPL + WWE ROM using USPL.
Whichever solution I use to remove the Hard SPL it just wont go away!
I even installed the German edition again with the hope that it will install the stock SPL again. It says that is being flashed but the SPL doesnt even change! While the ROM is being flashed correctly and windows boot without any problem
I have tried Flash Center, Stock Rom(German & WWE) and lots of different removals for Hard SPL but nothing worked!
Is there any workaround/solution for this problem? I have no problem to use any tools or console based ones but I need some information or a tutorial so as to not brick the device.
Thanx in regard for any help and sorry for the long post but I wanted to describe all the steps that I followed to get here.
P.S. If this post is in the wrong thread please tell me so.
PLease can some point me in the direction of a ROM I can use to downgrade
my SQL. I have tried versions 1.43 ships and NBH but no luck. INstructions woudl also be nice incase I am doing something wrong.
Please dont tell me to to read the "sticky's" as where this is mentioned there are no instructions for fixing it.
note: i tried flashing Official RUU_Leo_TMO_UK_1.43.110.2_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50.22_2_Ship ROM but it said not allowed. I tried extracting and flashing from my Sd card and by booting to spl and running it from there, same there aswell - what I am doing wrong?
If you have vodafone device, i think you must (without HSPL) use vodafone ROM, not TMO, isnt it?
this was a replacement device, the other was fine, just had a scratched screen. It wont take hardpl or hardpl2 - i just get "not allow" or "critcal error"
So you have a Vodafone UK branded Device??? Check it if it is branded!!!
First try to flash an official Vodafone UK ROM from SD, by renaming and copying the nbh file to the SD root.
I think there are 3 versions available:
- 1.43 (probably downgrades SLP to 1.42.0000)
- 1.66 (probably SPL 1.66.0000)
- 1.72 (probably SPL 1.66.0000)
You can find them here:
http://www.4shared.com/dir/22189940/b8552fa0/Shipped_Leo_ROMs.html
Then you could try HSLP2 or maybe even SSPL.
edit: you could also check your serial at the official HTC download section.
i get "not allow" when I try flash a voda 1.43 rom, I can flash fine with the correct 1.66 ROMS but I want to downgrade as Hardspl2 wont work, i get a critical usb error - usb connection is fine as I can flash shipped ROMS fine.
The ROM I am currently on is branded yes.
managed to find a 1.43 voda rom and get spl down to 1.43, hardspl then worked ok, still not sure why my voda spl 1.66 wouldnt take the hardspl
Hello there, could anyone explain me how can i get my htc back to original? I'm having some problems with the roms and i wanted to put the original rom as when i bought it. I know that there are topics about that but i need a step by step (rom, hpsl, radio, spl etc) because i'm new in this and don't understand some things. Anyone please? Thanks
EDIT: i have Artemis rom v41 PTG
1-Download HSPL2_RUN
2-Connect your HD2 in Active Sync mode,Run HSPL2 and choose 142.000 from drop down menu.
This will restore back the original SPL.
3-Download your original Stock ROM from HTC support site with your S/N,
4-Again connect your Phone in Active Sync mode, double click on the ROM you have just downloade from HTC site and flash it.
5-Now you have brand new stock Device.
Error
I coudn't do step 2, it give me an error saying that i have a bad spl version... how do i solve it? i have spl-3.03.0000
here's an image of my error:
****://img684.imageshack.us/img684/1654/spln.jpg
replace the **** for http.
simple, skip steps 1 and 2, start with step 3 and flash only the stock new 3.14 rom (because it already has the new spl .the artemis rom you have, is based on the new stock rom spl 3.03 ...and you cannot flash hspl on it)
thanks. it's already working
Hi how do i go about flashing my HD2 back to stock English: 3.14.405.2 ROM ?! as i'd like to sell it now. i have an artemis rom, cotulla HSPL 2.08 and a splash screen from an old chucky ROm i'd like to get rid of !!
so how do i do this safely ?cheers dom
p.s will i still be able to boot into an sd build of android from a stock rom ??
into bootloader, 'serial' --> 'USB'
run hspl4 choose 2.08.0000 (or 3.03.0000, or in fact any that end .0000, teh next step will upgrade it anyway, so long as it ends .0000)
into bootloader, 'serial' --> 'USB'
run 3.14 rom .exe
done.
(this assumes you have the correct 3.14 rom, not just the default stock rom. i.e if your phone is from o2 you need the o2 3.14 rom)
PS yes
Oh right thank you for your quick reply! I think I'll just flash a stock rom so I can sell the phone as unlocked! Thanks again for your help! !!
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

you cant relock an unlocked phone anyway, no matter what you flash.
Dont confuse sim lock and rom lock, Totally unconnected.
a sim unlocked phone will still need hspl to flash, and a flashed phone isn't sim unlocked.

oh crap.
i just flashed straight back to stock without doing any of this... have i screwed up?
Also i did it because it keeps crashing and overheating so i was going to try it on stock and if it kept doing it i was going to send it back to htc - will they be able to tell i tried a custom rom?
(seems to be working fine though)
EDIT:
another question - will this have changed my radio back to stock too - or do I have to do this manually?
where can i download the new stock rom as the HTC site says its now for my phone....(probably because it was an O2 branded rom before)
theres an O2 update as well on the HTC website?
Otherwise the latest ones are on here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623283
I managed to sort mine - turns out you have to do it via SD and it does everything bootloader, ROM and radio. (although it failed the first time and i almost made a mess in my trousers)
If anyones interested the instructions are (taken from HSPL4 app):
- Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
- Rename it to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
I also formatted the SD before copying it over.
No there was only one for t mobile !
cheers for the link matey
yea its odd that, the o2 3.14 rom is there via direct link, has been since saturday, but still doesn't show if you navigate to the rom updates page on htc.uk
ok updated the hspl fine...but when i try to flash the new WWE rom i get an "invalid vendor id" at 1% and the flash fails
righty all sorted ! the O2 rom was on the UK site i was being dumb and look on htc Europe site !
all flashed and working fine now
