I have a quick question, i have recently purchased the new spb mobile shell, but soon i discovered it does not have the cool feature spb v.2 had to change the soft keys... can some perhaps help me with this issue. My left soft key is no stuck on calander and my right spb home ( which is okay) but i dont use the calendar and would like to replace by a different soft key.

not sure if that's exactly what you want, but with the "advanced config"-tool by schapman you can edit the softkeys anyway.

i already checked the leaked version... quite amazing. can't wait to try out the offical release. hope all the bugs from the leaked version are already fixed.
the most anoying thing was that the lifestyle screen was not working correctly in landscape mode... did they fix that?

The spb 3 disables my panel button. The phone hangs. But the button works fine if i exit out of the shell.

I only want to mention that SPB officially released Mobile Shell 3 today. I've downloaded the final trial version and they fixed the freeze problem when pressing the panel button. Everything works smoothly - .

you can download the NEW trial verison from SPB, the leaked version im not gonna lie i used it it was a little sloppy, but the new one works great... i mean its not like SE did a better job at creating a better interface.

We have noted some strange locking up of our Xda II's over on the MTekk forums requiring a hard reset. We have a number of threads running at the moment but the main one is here.
I have been in touch with Spb about this and they inform me it is actually an HTC and MS issue. Below is their email response.

But this problem occurs not only with Spb Pocket Plus but with other

We have feedback from HTC and Microsoft about that (sorry, I cannot

So I am not sure we will be able to fix it in Spb Pocket Plus - probably
HTC will fix it in their ROM.
Spb Pocket Plus does not use any undocumented functions that can cause
such behavior.
Probably we will disable running Spb Pocket Plus on these devices at all
until HTC fixes this bug in ROM
Pocket Plus 1.x is not available online now but I can send it to you if you want via e-mail.
If you bought Pocket Plus 2.x and can't use it, you can always ask for refund.

It appears as though this issue could also be happening with version 1 of Pocket Plus on the 1.66 ROM (and some 1.72 ROM's too).
Thought you guys might like to know. Generally I find Spb products to be good, but it appears as though Spb are being blamed for this issue. I think this email help point the finger in the right direction.

This is some strange stuff as I've been running Pocket Plus 2.0 for a few months and have recently installed 2.1 (just for the hell of it I think its only a VGA update from what I can see)... but have not had any problems on my XDA II before, hear are my details of my device if this helps:
ROM Version: 1.66.00WWE
ROM Date: 02/20/04
Radio Version: 1.08.00
Protocol Version: 1337.18
ExtROM Version: 1.66.165
The only thing I could think that I MIGHT be doing diferent is that I do not use the today screen pluging (I use all other features like repeating allarms and task mannager!) At the begining I did use the today screen and do not recall any problems as well I've taken it off because my today screen was getting to cluttered with other software I am running.
Not sure if this is going to help you but have to tired installing Pocket Plus with NO other applications installed after a hard reset? It might be a conflict with other software or even a totaly other product causing the problem? Not sure hope this can help you!

Pocket Plus 2 is installed in my wife's XDA2 with 1.66rom. its almost 3 weeks now and so far no problem. my XDA2's rom is only 1.60.

is the Today Plugin the one where you can put battery and memory bars, and put some icons? if yes, then its enabled.
i too am having problems with the spb pocket plus v2.1 using xda2 with 1.66WWE ROM version. i get hang ups and the unit would do a hard reset. good thing i always do a backup of the contacts and appointments!
aside from Pocket Plus, what other Today Plugins can you guys recommend?
I was wondering what was the lockup caused by. I uninstalled the SPB GPRS and SPB Pocket Plus and now it's ok. No more lockup. I had to hard reset, but couldn't initial find the problem until the trial expired, weird. I guess that's why I bought it.
I find GPRS monitor is OK!!
I have a feeling the Today plugin is the cause as I have had no such crashes since I installed it again with the today screen disabled. What part of it I don't know though.
Boybi, which icons, sliders does your wife have enabled on the plugin?
One thing to note on this, is that SPB update their software silently and don't tell ya about it.
So get the latest build of PocketPlus and try again.

im using pocket plus ver 2.1 on a 1.66 ROM XDA II, just installed it 24 hours ago, no problems so far.
All featured ITEMS enabled, Today Plug-in, File Explorer enhancements, Pocket IE enhancement, Looping Alarm, etc..
Im very disturbed by what I just read in this thread, although I have experienced 1 LOCKUP, it happened while SPB Pocket Plus was NOT YET installed.
Can anyone please advise HOW LONG was the average time FROM installation of pocket plus DID the LOCKUP occur? and what your POCKET PLUS version and ROM versions are?
Certainly would put most of us at ease.

With my previous 1.66ITA it worked for about 3 months without troubles (PP 2.0 first and 2.1 later) .
After the upgrade to 1.72.04ITA no chance to install it anymore; it freezes and the only way out is hard resetting. :evil:
Spb team says that they are working on it... hope so, otherwise I will claim for my money back. :evil: :evil:
My experience up to now is that PP is white or black: it works or not, at all. In your case it works, so I would not worry too much... :roll:

I too have had the problem
Ever since I installed the Spb PocketPlus ver 1.x and onward I have had that problem. It occurs rarely but often enough to annoy me (1-2 times/month). It seems to make no difference if I disable the Today screen. I have removed it now. I don't have much other software on it, except for Destinator 3 and a painting program. I won't return to PocketPlus until the issue is solved.

The italian localized 2.1 will not work on the 1.72 ROM, to make it works you need to install the 2.0 and after it the 2.1.

I also use and love the S2U2 and would like to keep this
Can anyone help me out with a good launcher that doesnt suck battery or memory and can incorporate all the above (leaving the items with a * next to them visible)... I have been looking at ultimate launch, iLauncher, pocketbreeze and a couple of others but still cant make up my mind or figure out a heck of alot just looking at the pretty pics on the screen... advice would be greatly appreciated... many thanks in advance...
having moved from the tytn II as well, i decided that i couldn't really beat my old setup and just went with htc home on my x1.
i tried a few other launchers and couldn't find anything to beat it. i have bound Launch Manager to a double-press of my left softkey to access the rest of my apps quickly ...
i'm using the vga version of htc home called PJC HTC Home. it was acting a bit strange when i first installed it but it works flawlessly now ...
Can you access the weather on it? and are all the other functions fully functioning now? I found there were a few hiccups with HTC Home... I did have that on at one stage and I do like it but the weather bug and lesser functionality was a bit of a downer for me...
it works perfectly.
there was a bit of a lag when switching to landscape initially but it either fixed itself (?) or i re-installed it and it worked perfectly.
the weather thing was fixed by a regedit - i think the timeout had to be increased to get the weather to work properly.
the only think that didn't seem to work was the music tab but i use s2p instead now so that's cool.

Shouldn't be that hard to get working if not, especially if you have audiomanager installed.

I just have a question for the SPB Mobile shell users (any version) -
After installing this, do we have the option to switch back to the original HTC touchflo screen (Manila 2D)? Not just by uninstalling mobile shell, but an option in the home screen selector settings to switch back and forth between touchflo and mobile shell?
I have SPM Mobile Shell 3 and it rocks!
Dunno if switching from TF2D to MS3, and vice versa, is possible.. I didn't bother testing....

prob is that touchflow replaces the lower left softkey to camera, but of course you can add the spb shell to the start menü and switch fast.
I have installed spb ms 3 in my xperia and I can say,is really nice,I love it, touch flows and other iphone similars you can´t compare with this,is the best!!!

What if Microsoft let SPB write the entire winMo UI?
You know, things like the settings dialogs, the annoying messageboxes, that kind of stuff.
This way we can all enjoy a finger friendly UI and also - great performance.
(this is why I think it's better than the TouchFlo by the way)

Love SPB Mobile Shell 3
I have installed it on my HTC Touch Pro and I LOVE IT!!! I was able to get it for free since I had just purchased the last version less than 90 days ago and I actually prefer it over TF3D and I am definitely loving the Lifestyle layouts and the way you can slide between the 3 panels. So to me it is a keeper. I think they did an execellent job
The trial is working great for me. I already had version 2, but it had bugs on my Jade so I didn't use it. I will test 3 for a couple of days and assuming it doesn't do anything silly I will definitely be buying it, it blows Touchflo out of the water.

I had some promlems too, when i tried to use the exe-file to install (xda orbit) but with the .cab i had no probs...

I installed the SPB Mobile Shell v3.5.3.Build.9885.
It's great, but it keeps closing and I don't know why.
I launch any program inside SPB, and after I close the program SPB is closed too.
If I put a widge on screen it closes SPB too.
Is there anyway to keep SPB open all the time?
I'm using rafyvitto's vannila lastest rom.

I reinstalled and this issue was ok but it slowed down my phone and the screen
needed to be hard pussed to work and no smoothness..
I don't know what's going wrong. I use the latest original ROM.
Now I have unistalled it and look around for solutions..
It's a pitty because it's the best UI if someone dont want to flash another rom..

hi, i'm new here and also i have a very new s200. i'd only like to know how to download this spb mobile shell, i found it very nice and cool. my phone is locked to operator, can still download it. do i have have to dowload it thru my phone or thru my computer,, i'm really a jerk whne we speak about thing regarding computers, downloadings etc; anyway thanks
Look inside SPB settings, I think there is a check box that lets you override the normal WinMo today screen. Something about "use SPB for today screen".
I found it, SPB mobile shell settings/system/ override "start" see if that helps.

not only the "Acer home" but everything else was closed too!!
I've tried a "clean" version of the SPB and with "extras"..
The ram consumtion was dissapointing with everything.. I don't know, it's maybe in my device the problem..
I found the same problem too using official rom 3.003c
My problem was solved by disabling today screen like olsching told.
Start --> Settings --> Today
Go to Item (on botton)
And Disable everything.

I use it exclusively. From an ease of use and efficiency standpoint I find it far superior to the HTC Sense interface. Admittedly, the eye candy isn't as nice as Sense, but that is not my priority. I have yet to find a better "search" screen for my contacts than the one included in the Mobile Shell.
My only two big issues with SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 is that I can only have 1 location for Weather and that it doesn't have a stock ticker screen built in. If you have a solution for those two issues, please let me know.

been using SPB shell too. Lets just put it this way the phone lasted 2 days before I flashed it with Kumars and that lasted 5 days before i put SPB on and I have had that on for the last week and have not intention of changing it

I love this shell. I run it exclusively on my Wing, thanks to Tribulattifather over at "[ROM]TribShell WM6.5.5[SD Version Build 23545][26.20MB Prog Mem | 71.40MB Stor Mem]"
Yeah, I said "Wing". It runs just fine on stripped-down versions of 23545, despite the RAM limitations of the device.
I still haven't gotten over the "newness" of my HD2 yet, so I'm not running it here, but I may in the future. Right now, I really enjoy the Weather Home and other fancy bits like landscaped SMS that just wouldn't work on SPB Home.
Give me a few more weeks and I'll probably jump over, especially now that they have that sweet WinPho7 skin

v3.5 is excellent, but not worth disabling Sense, in my opinion. In fact, I rather prefer the look of Titanium over standardized Mobile Shell. Then again, you can theme the HELL out of Mobile Shell, make it look pretty snazzy. LOL!
So with shell you cant use landscape mode in any programs then? It seems like there is a ton of different style themes you can change with it though. I just dont get how the trial version works, does it have everything the full version does and does your phone just reboot to normal after the 15 days then? When is the new version expected to be released?

SPB Software told mobile news and blog sites that we could expect to see the official release sometime during Q4 of 2010.
i probably wont even have this phone by then LOL, i go through Phones like crazy! Just sold my nexus one though, kinda wish i woulda kept it.
i'm using the full version right now with hero sense mobile ui theme installed on top of it. phone runs much more smooth then ever before. however, nothing beats the beauty of the stock hero sense ui. right now, im taking performance over looks tho

SPB Mobile Shell does not preclude running any apps in landscape mode - all apps work the same as before. The trial version is fully functional for 15 days after which it will prompt you to register and lock some functions of the shell. You can uninstall and reboot and your phone will function the same as before you ever install the Mobile Shell.

Although not as fancy as the Sense software, you do realize you can customize SPB Mobile Shell to put a weather widget on the home screen? I have mine set this way and it gives me an icon for sunny/cloudy/rainy and hi/lo temperature . . . the widget is active so if I single tap it it will bring me to a more detailed weather screen showing hour by hour and day by day weather info for 5 days.

What do you mean by landscape SMS not working when I am in the my SMS client i can turn it and it switches to a landscape mode
