remap OK-button - XPERIA X1 General

Hi everyone
Sometimes I want to use things in landscape mode & X1 doesn't have an Accelerometer for rotation.
So I was thinking to remap the hardware OK-button to as rotation-button.
In the Button-settings I see 4 "buttons", left key & the right key.
But how do you know which button is the OK-button?
Or is this impossible to do that?
I'm using Itje Touch-IT V7 RC1
I hope someone can help me with this

i see only 2 buttons^^ left and right hardware button^^
and i assigned to the right button display rotation

I use AEButton Plus to do precisely what you want. Works great.

Thx for the tips

Using the volume keys like a scroll wheel

Morning all,
I remember reading on the wizard forums somewhere that someone changed the volume keys so that they could be used as a scroll up and scroll down function similiar to the scroll wheel on the hermes for use in PIE etc.
Is this possible on the Touch Dual. if so what would the program be and how much would it cost ?
Jeremy
It is possible for free.

Hi,
AE Button Plus should be able to do this. There's a time-unlimited trial which should do the job.
Another one may be Spb PocketPlus, which offers less possibilities for button mapping, but maybe (actually I can't remember fur sure) offers exactly out-of-the-box the mapping you are searching for (volume2scroll), whereas in AEB+ you have to make the mappings explicit (VolUp->PgUp etc).
Cheers,
jekk.
I've mapped button 2 and 3 and button 2 hold and button 3 hold to scroll up and scroll down.
The hold buttons work OK but they aren't usable as a scroller as it takes too long to activate but If I map the normal buttons to scroll up and down they still only change volume. If I map them to launch contacts they launch this fine some of the time but not always and other times they just change the volume. So no can do. This by the way is using pocket plus' built in button mapping program.

Software buttons working in Java apps

Hi,
I'm having a problem with Java apps and I did not find a solution for it for 2 weeks now so I decided to try experts help.
I wanna play some Java games but none of them seem to recognize the software buttons that are as you know located on the touch screen. I think Java apps do not realize that there's a touchscreen at all. I tried apps like AEBButtons (or something) to remap other hardware key but none seemed to work Is there a solution?
I'm using JBed 20080222.3.1
Please help.
I think you have to use AE Button Plus or go to button icon under settings to map the left and right softkeys. Those are the buttons shown on screen but cant be used by Jbed.
Hope that helps.
Yeah !! This works but I can define only one button there (camera button). Is there a way to add more buttons, like D-pad directions as you've said ??
I actually ended up using the volume up and down buttons as the left and right softkeys through AEBPlus. But There are options for long press button actions and other things so its just finding which button suits you best. BTW, I tried adding actions to the D pad but never managed it using AEBPlus (it didt recognise it when i pressed it).

Key mapping of none soft keys

Hello,
since yesterday I am a proud owner of the x1i (from tmobile in germany).
Some months ago in pre-reviews there was a hw button on the left side and as far as I understand it was written that it is possible to configure the functionality to it (like screen rotating).
But know, I see that there is no button on the left side, there is just a small sent with the size of a hw button
Because I have installed the touch flow 3d I does currently not need the panels. So my idea is to configure the panel button to rotate the screen.
But I was disappointed because it is only allowed to configure both softkeys but I want to use them for left/right menu usage.
So my question:
It is possible (patch, registry tweak) to configure the other hardware buttons like:
- Panel
- Camera
- Hang up button
Normal press / long press (hold) to other thinks like:
- Screen rotating?
- etc.?
any idea?
best regards,
stefan
Hi stefan,
a lot of people are truying, but up to now without success, as I can read.
I too miss more buttons, but knew this before buying. I have my own WAD2-UI and this is compensating this with full finger touch possibilities.
I have got another question. Is it possible to key map the qwerty keyboard? for example take a qwerty keyboard and make it qwertz and perhaps change special characters and replace them with special characters of your "national" keyboard?
I found a solution in an other thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441191
There is a link to aebplus program, with this program you can configure every hardware button how you like and it can do even more, you can configure up to 4 functions on one hardware button:
- Simple press
- 2 pressed
- 3 presses
- long press

Best regards,
stefan
This is well known but I have read that it does not work on Xperia X1

Where have you read? Do tell.
AEBPlus Work Perfectly
I've tried and AEBPlus work on my Xperia perfectly just like in Touch Pro. Single, double, triple and long press all work flawlessly. Going to buy this wonderful app now
And somewhere else the author of aebutton plus explaind why he cannot access the "Panel" Button. He was saying that this dedicated Panel button is to deep integrated into the system on "driver" level (if I remember correctly).

has anyone found some software to edit the softkeys ? i'd rather not have to edit the registry ...
i appear to have different entries for my softkeys in my standard windows today screen and also in my tf3d home screen, none of which i seem to be able to update.
AE Button Plus
AE Button Plus works just fine on the X1.
The 'dent' you mention on the side, as far as I can tell is purely a finger rest for when you are using the camera.

Camera button

Hey Guys,
is there any way to for instance chance the button with which you take pics on the HD, I have been taking pictures in the normal way but prefer to use the side buttons or another button on the bottom.
Help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks
Agreed ... is there any software that could do this. Heard software such as AE button could reconfig the buttons but cld these be done for the HD, would be really useful and less awkward then the touch screen in my opinion

Hmmm - I have AEButton Plus and I have not previously played with the camera and this button mapper.
I have the volume buttons mapped. BUT, in the camera application it seems that AEB+ is no longer able to trap the volume buttons. It looks like HTC have switched off the volume buttons in the camera application.
When I exit from the camera then the AEB+ mapping works fine.
so it is not possible to reassign other buttons to this purpose? too bad, thanks for the help and please let me know if you find anything!
actually it is possible to reassign volume up to Enter (with aebplus/aebutton plus) and use it in the touch hd camera app. Well... at least it used to work for me for some weeks. Now I have exactly the same problem and don't know what could have changed.
Strange thing is: When I unmap volume up in aebplus, do a soft reset, remap the button (with some luck) I can take exactly one picture - afterwards it is simply ignored.
really strange behaviour but it shows that there IS a way to keep the camera app from grabbing keys...
I did it Application released soon!

[Question] Any software works as Rotate IT for X1i?

Recently find there are many rotate screen program for HTC model which has a G-sensor bulit in.
Any idea if there is any similar program for X1, that is to rotate the screen by the active application you are runnig.
THx!
you can rotate from inside settings
but x1 don't have a G-sensor so you have
to do it manualy
simply set one of the buttons to 'rotate'
this way all u have to do is press the button, yea, its that easy
start>settings>buttons
I have mapped my left button to "rotate screen" and my right to "alt+tab". I am happy haha.
thanks guys
I am actually using ae button to map my left key to do it. just thinking if there is any software could have intelligent to remember the rotation preference.
