WILL HTC HD get the new touch flo 3d upgrade officially or they will not upgrade it as we used to
they badly supports older devices opposite to nokia
Doubt they will - frankly why should they? We paid for the phone as it is.
Anyway, head over to the blackstone rom forum, you can flash it from there.

Damn that new HTC Diamond looks impressive (http://www.htc.com/europe/product.aspx?id=46654). Anyone know if it will be possible to rip the software/rom out of it and install on our Polaris'es?
"Nothing is impossible, what's impossible just takes longer time."
normally htc should put this diamond in new rom wm.6.1 if they will do it, I ask them but they answer (we are working hard....)
More info from London:

It looks damm good indeed.
Hope the firmware can be used for the Polaris..only the camera is a 3.2mp..that's a bit low for a new model if u ask me..other gsm's work with 5mp at this moment.
And also the polaris has a 3.2 mp already.
It WILL have WM6.1 but... it is too soon to talk about software for this upcoming device.

Damn impressive handset. I was wondering how much of native WinMo interface available to end user? The less is better, I suppose

Diamond is VGA device, so i'm not sure that it will be possible to use GUI from it on Cruise which is QVGA.
Also question is about acceleration and drivers, cause this features would be really slow on Cruise.

Touch Cruise has 4 times less pixels than Diamond.
Processing power shouldn't be the limiting factor.

The manila interface was out for a couple of months ago, but nobody was able to port it into a Kaiser:

I think it was time to release a new designed model, the formers models were not so beauty, finally an answer from HTC to the new requirements of the market.
Good Luck HTC....!!!

I was just about to buy a touch cruise.
Damn it beats the crap out of iPhone!
Does anyone remember we all said we won't be buying another HTC product?
We are suckers (well, at least I am) really.
ok selling a polaris then, wtb diamond
I'll wait someone will sell his Diamond
ok guys and gals I hope all have had a good festive period!!
here’s my question, I have just been offered a free upgrade by orange uk to the htc touch hd, I currently have the htc diamond.
it has been my first WM phone and I must say I am true convert. I have been looking longley with envy at the htc touch hd and I am defo going to own one; but with it being so new to the market I was wondering if any else has done the upgrade and wished they had waited a bit longer for a more stable product.
as i'm not that experienced at putting on ROMs does the one shipped with the orange branded phone work well??
or should i wait untill orange bring a 2nd Rom like they did with the diamond and untill android is fully working on the phone??
thanks for any advice given!!
I think shipped Roms aren't good (enough) at all. I like the possibility to flash another rom, whenever I want to.
So I would not put any stress on the shipped rom, there are already so many great cooked roms out there, so that is really no problem.
Flashing a cooked rom isn't a problem, it takes 10 minutes, if you know what to do, else you will have to read through the wiki, but it is really managable.
so does any one have any views on if the upgrade from the touch diamond to the touch hd is it worth it right now, or is it better to hang fire for a while untill the android os and a good offical rom from orange is out??
I still have the standard htc rom on my HD, version 1.14 and it is stable as can be, I don't feel any need to flash it. All you need to do is make a few tweaks and I'm sure you'll be satisfied with it. My HD somehow feels a little bit faster than a diamond, eventhough they have the same hardware inside and might I say inspite of the higher resolutions screen.
Given the choice I would pick the HD over the diamond any day, the extra big screen is well worth the price premium you pay over a diamond

I too find 1.14 to be faster than most cooked ROMs. Perhaps 1.14 is faster than 1.19.

hello everyone!
i'm also offered an upgrade from my old nokia n95, but i'm a little hesitant as i already have an htc touch diamond on another contract with orange. will it be practical to own both the htc touch diamond and the touch hd? i was initially eyeing the samsung omnia but it will cost me over £100 on my current tariff, whereas they can give me the touch hd for free. i've been having this "dilemma" for like a month now and im still undecided. anyone who can give me their views, i'd be grateful.
I think this will trully be my dream phone. I have an xperia atm, but I believe the Touch HD pro, will really be the best phone if it ever gets released. Anyone know of a release date for this, so that I can know when to sell my xperia?
They announced it, look at my thread below.

That is the touch pro2 I'm talking about the Touch HD pro, which is code named Rhodium on HTC's device roadmap which was leaked.
I know it isn't really reliable...but it will probably be released somewhere in Q3 from this year. does anybody know what the difference is between the Rhodium and the tungsten ? (exept the color )

Rhodium is a codename. Like Blackstone is the codename for Touch HD. Its 80% sure that Rhodium is Touch Pro 2 True Rhodium doesnt have the same back speaker as Touch Pro 2 but those are just mock ups. (look at Citrine/Topaz... They are Diamond 2)
Lets be reasonable here... For anyone who thinks that a slide qwerty keyboard mobile for MULTIMEDIA will come out, is out of his mind. The Qwerty phones are aimed for business users not casual users

So the xperia is a business phone? You couldn't be more obtuse.
Touch HD still doesn't have succesor Rhodium is new Touch Pro 2. Maybe Whitestone will be
I am new to all this and was referred here by a collegue. I am considering purchasing a Diamond2 over a HD due to the updated Touch Flo 3D, however, I'd much prefer a HD if the updated Touch Flo 3D is available to be flashed. I did a search but couldnt seem to find anything.
Is this possible to flash/load the newer version of Touch Flo onto a HD?
Cheers and sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

A lot of the latest cooked roms already have the updated TF3D in them. Just check latest WM6.5 roms and some of the WM6.1 ones
Sorry if this is a noob question.
How can I update only the TF3D without installing a cooked ROM?
I'm considering buying a new HTC phone after Xmas as my Sony Ericsson W850i is getting a bit old. I've seen the Touch HD with WM6.5 roms but I've also seen the Hero. Which one should I go for? [PS. I'm from the UK]
Come on, i will take the LEO and sell my HD to you.
As above post, why not go for latest phone 'Leo' a.k.a. the HD2 instead of both the HD and the Hero??
If you would still rather go for either the HD or Hero, then its simply down to whether you want Android or Windows

I have an HD, one of my friends has a hero.
Both are awesome, it is a win win question.
do you want android or windows is the question.

I should add, most 6.5 roms stink so far.
Dutty's 6.1 has most of the feature stolen from 6.5, but with none of the crap

Basically, I am on a bit of a budget as I am actually planning to get one pre-owned from 'Cex'. If I had the money, I would go for the Leo without another word but I can't. I'm new to the smartphone market and I've never tried Android or Windows Mobile. I just like the Sense UI on both [using a ROM if I got the HD]. Which OS should I go for?

Hi, clearly i can say only:
Touch Hd - more advanced, more ability/opportunities, wm is more custom-able than android, touch hd have in development fully* working android
Hero - fastest interface, easy in use, lower resolution, no videocall's, hero housing/case is beautyfull, best quality I have seen.
Touch HD2 looks great but in my opinion too expensive atm - just wait for next gen. 1.5Ghz Snapdragon platforms
HD -> pocket-friendly, WM=heavy weight+Qualcomm/HTC hardware acceleration driver support for HD (therefore laggy), fully configurable&tweakable.
Hero -> pocket-friendly, Android=very lightweight (only sometimes laggy), consistent interface and apps, outstanding Google apps (e.g. free Street View Navigation) if you don't mind about your privacy, but may become boring if you like customizing your phone.
HD2 -> not pocket-friendly, the best and fastest (WM) phone out there.
Both HD and Hero phones are to be considered end-of-HTC-"support".
If you can afford to wait 9 more months, go for sth cheap meanwhile and take a look at the next HTC (Win7 OS and/or Tegra platforms) and iPhone generations, then consider again. If you can't wait, I'd currently go for the HD2, even though I'm very happy with my HD (but I wouldn't buy it again, it's a dying product).
