i am sorry if this question is already been asked
i have a blackstone with dutty 3.9 turbo but i am trying to find the gps signal from diffent programs like google maps or igo but the program cant find the gps signaal. my question is how can you make it work so that this programs can find the in build gps hardware
thanks
ok best way is to just update the quick GPS. should then pick up in less than a minute proving you are outside for the first test
After much trying and still doesn't work, you may want to go back to the shop where you bought.
When I got mine, I tried one whole day and my GSP software just couldn't work. Went back to the Telco within 3 days, got a brand new replacement, got it to work in the shop before I leave, has been working like a charm since!
i have the blackstone now almost 8 mothns, normally i do not use gps but i wanted to look how it works. i think there is something wrong with the settings or with the gps hardware. because i have tried several times in differnt places but google maps and other software cant find a signal
I've recently had to replace my HD. due to dropping it. ON the replacement handset the GPS worked very intermittently. I would have to use quick GPS about 10-20 times for the update to register on the handset. Another symptom was Tomtom saying that there is "no GPS device" This is something that did not happen with my first hand set. I've had this piece replaced again about a week ago but this unit is also playing up.
I am getting a third replacement sent to me tomorrow. Hoping this will fair better.
Before I start flashing ROMS is the GPS issue fixed?
Never ran into the wifi problem. Running latest honey villian and latest kernal with no problems.

Sorry, ment GPS. Plenty of GPS post, just have to read a bit, but it will work.
dexters prime works great for GPS. I use it for my aviation charts and it locks much better than the Acer rom did
read a few of the posts and followed the gps test instructions in one.

sat outside for 30 minutes and the most i could get was 5 sat 3 fix. that was for about 5 seconds. for most of the 30 it would jump between 2 and 4 with no fix.

Guys/gals,
After months of troubleshooting, trying fixes, restoring, flashing several ROMS...I finally have a fix for GPS on Samsung Galaxy S4 (ROGERS).
Since upgrading to KitKat, I lost the ability to locate or lock onto GPS satellites. Of course, my unwillingness to go back to a stock JB ROM cost me countless hours of research. Nothing that I tried on any KitKat ROMS (including stock) would bring back my GPS.
I finally bit the bullet, and put stock JB back on my phone. Of course, GPS worked! Blahhhhhh....but I couldn't stay on JB. It was only 5 minutes later that upgraded to KitKat. Annnnnnnnnnd, there goes my GPS again.
Long story short...thought I'd try un-installing Google Maps and re-installing it (since that's about all I use GPS for). I couldn't actually un-install, but I could un-install updates. Good enough for me, I went ahead and did that.
Guess what...I now have a lock on 22 satellites...
Several months, countless hours, and grey hair...all I had to do was un-install an updates Google Maps app??? Holy hell.
Anyways, I hope this article saves someone the time it took me to get it all sorted out. Don't forget to disable automatic updates in Google Play.
My note3 is awesome but the gps is a POS can anyone coming from the note3 to note4 for tell me if the gps function has been improved? Or is it just as unreliable(not locking on satellites) if its any better its worth the upgrade to me.....
I agree that it's worser than the one on my old note 1
If you can send me your gps.conf file I can fix it for you. Have to be rooted and it's in system/etc/gps.conf. Fix would work on any note 3.

I stopped rooting my phones because its just to much to maintain and keep up with these days. Initially my main reason for rooting was tethering but since i switched to tmobile and they give me 3 gigs for free. i found no reason to have to do it anymore.. i was always cool with the touch wiz roms anyway.. thank u for the offer though... can anyone else chime in on the difference if any in gps reliability between note 3 and note 4?
GPS receiver is quite deaf, horrible reception.
I just started noticing this weekend that my phone would find a lock no problem at first but can't maintain that lock. The GPS icon would disappear and then restart again after a few seconds to try and find a lock. Would happen every few minutes or so.
Yeah, I'm having an issue too.
It doesn't follow me, but it can pinpoint my location. It also jumps around to different locations around me when I'm driving.
Get this software and set it to auto update A-gps data. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2
I've been doing this since Note 2 and never had to wait more than 3-5 seconds to get full lock. It will entirely solve all your problems, and you don't have to root.

I'll give it a try, thanks ozaghloul.
I can confirm 100% issues with GPS on my AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I bought it Sunday (12/28/2014) and noticed instant GPS inaccuracies, teleporting, not updating correct route information, etc. I got home, OTA'd, tried again the next day, same issues. Took it into AT&T yesterday (12/30/2014), guy instantly swapped, I stood right there and showed him exactly what was happening on the brand new, fresh out the box phone. "Hmmm, I'd give it a couple of days to.....uhhh.....calibrate, then bring it back if it doesn't work." Screw that, wtf is going on? Why do a select few of us have the problem and why does it continue to happen to the same people?
In another forum, a guy took his back not 1, not 2 but 3 TIMES, same gps issues everytime......... Add me to the list of people who've had multiple phones and the same gps issues. SIM related????? Maybe? I can't have another phone, I absolutely love this thing.
**EDIT** Had a Note 2 for close to 3 years, not one GPS problem.
switch mode to gps only. in high accuracy mode it downloads google wifi data and tries to avoid using the gps chip so you bounce around depending on how accurate googles wifi mapping is based on APs googles streetview van saw.
GPS only mode with daily AGPS data will be the best.
I've done everything under the sun. Nothing helps.
I will try zurkx's info tonight and try to remember to turn it on for the foreseeable future and see what happens. The issue is sporadic for me and I don't have it on while I'm driving all the time.

I fear it's a bit different: Just a few people get aware of the problem, many others simply don't notice or don't want to notice it.
Just have a look at my thread - pretty detailled: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/gps-close-to-unusable-t2948602
Try rebooting in airplane, it seems to have alleviated the issues. Now I have a horrible download speed problem....
Hello guys.
My gps has been working just fine till yesterday, today for some reason I'm getting gps signal lost every now and then on gmaps.
I tried undoing anything that I did the previous day that may have affected this and searched and read a lot of posts regarding bad gps, but I'm not really sure if it's fixed or not.
If anyone's been through this and fixed it somehow please let me know what you did!
Thanks everyone, have a nice day!
I end up flashing the device fron scratch and it seems to be working ok for now.
One weird thing is that I have like 40 sats in view but I only connect at 20 at best.
Navigation is working fine though.
