Hey guys first of all thanks for reading this thread.
Just got a very nasty problem with my BLACKSTONE recently.
Here's my problem:
When I started using the "Microsoft ActiveSync", the following msg was being shown:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Any idea what the problem might be ??
After that, I tried to copy my files to my device, and the following error was being shown:
And if I use the "FILE TO FILE TRANSFER" option, I am UNABLE to copy anything or delete anything from my STORAGE CARD.
I just tried to format the STORAGE CARD, but it wouldn't help, problem still exists.
Could anyone please provide solutions to this ??
And please let me know if HARD RESET would help?? (The last thing I want to do :S)
Truly, thanks a lot.
your pics not working
probably uninstall and reinstall activesync again.

Card gone hooky maybe? Would affect AS if the attachments are set to store there.
Try reading card in separate reader, pull everything off, format, put everything back on and try again?
First of all you need to be a little more specific. Are you using Microsoft Vista, XP etc?
If your using vista, have you tried syncing through Windows Mobile Device Centre?

Yes of course! u have to tell us which OS are u using, sencond time try to download the latest version of active sync from microsoft official web site, it's a free download, fast and secure!
Be carefull, maybe a micro SD card hooky or some connections settings not correct. Try to read others 3ds, u should find the best solution!
Final approach? uninstall and reinstall the software....
Bye max
blatantly obvious that it is windows XP. i've only seen vista once and I know that the menus don't look like that.
if all else fails do a hard reset on the phone and reinstall activesync like these guys said. also try a new cable and/or USB port
STOOP!!!!! --- I have the same problem!!! so heres what I do -- when my device cant connect because of that error (same youve got) I just kill activesync in task manager (its called WCESMgr.exe ) and start active sync again (in C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync -- wcescomm.exe) and then device connects normaly!!!
Hope this works for you too!!!
Try a different cable? That fixed mine.
Hummm...
So the problem seems to be either with the phone or the computer
Try:
restarting the computer/phone
using a different computer
a different cable (as was suggested)
If it still doesn't work,
It's a problem with the phone: either software or hardware
Try:
Hard reset
If that STILL doesn't work, then sounds like it's something wrong with the hardware and you should send it back for testing
Hope that helps!
Another option would be to try Synching via Bluetooth (if your PC has bluetooth)
Guys, very thanks for all your attention and support.
Yes, it's WINDOWS XP.
I will try again with a new cable tonight when I get back home.
And actually, I don't use MicroActiveSync very often.
I usually transfer file with the option "HARD DISK", just like a USB drive.
Just since that problem had occurred, I tried to use SYNC to xfer' file.
Eventually both doesn't work as I mentioned at the beginning.
Now, I gonna try again tonight and will keep this thread updated.
------------------------------------------------------------
Two more questions, thanks guys.
1. I couldn't delete anything on the STORAGE CARD when I while using the phone. Error shown "Access denied" something like that.
It happened before I have my storage card formated, Any idea ???
2. How to HARD RESET ??
Please, thanks so much. Have a nice day.

1. Turn off device
2. Hold down vol up & vol down and then turn on device
3. Screen will go to bootloader temporaily then you'll be presented with a message blah blah blah etc
4. Press vol up to hard reset
Thanks, Fallen Spartan
I think I have to go with this Option eventually
Cuz even if I use the new cable, problem still exists.
Especially the STORAGE CARD problem, I can't even DELETE files from my STORAGE CARD while I was using the device. No idea why.
I don't think it's the storage card problem cuz I did try several cards.
Anyway thanks a lot for you guys help.
Did you try this -- just kill activesync in task manager (its called WCESMgr.exe ) and start active sync again (in C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync -- wcescomm.exe)
It solved the problem for me ( prob still persists but I kill async and I can connect normally)
Sometimes the answer is quite simple!!!
I had that problem and fixed it by going to:
Start
Settings
Connections
USB to PC
Clear the tick box "Enable faster data sync"
I'm not sure if they're really related but i never had problems sync again.
RE: Kristaps-K9-Lv
Yes I did try that, doesn't help but thanks
RE: deco
Tried, but it doesn't work for me
Hi guys, I guess I have the same problem ( I just posted it here)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498326&page=101
I don't think it has anythng to do with neither the card nor cable/active sync as I too usually do my stuff via "disk drive" option.
I've realized that after the first "crash" of the card ( its not visible anymore wherever i look for it) and reconnecting the USB cable the phone gives me only 2 instead of 3 options (Active sync or Internet), the 3rd option "disk drive" is gone. I also tried it through the HD file explorer and the "storage card" doesnt show in the tree anymore.
I suspect it has something to do with HTC's new ROM (1.56)..?
wait! You have this problem long time ago?
What do you do? I can do nothing now... only flash back?
btw on page 101 there is no post from you!
edit:

it shouldn't have to do anything with the phone, so I guess erasing the sd or hard resets are not necessary... which version of windows do you use? is it 32 bit or 64 bit? did you install the correct version of wmdc? and did you restart your computer prior to reinstalling wmdc?
If it's a BSoD it's very likely a hardware or driver problem...probably not something related to WMDC per se.
Can you post the details of the BSoD (AKA "Stop error screen")?
You should be able to find said details in the Event Log...
So I think there is something wrong with WMDC and my comp now.
Nothing else causes the crash but WMDC related programs. connecting the phone, starting WMDC on my laptop and/or reinstalling now.
Windows 7 64bit.
Ive had HD2 for 2 weeks, flashed few ROMS, and I've never had that problem until tonight. I wonder what had changed since this morning and now.
Sorry, I don't know how to work event viewer.
I might just do a clean windows install and see what is up.

I saw your post.
I said, I don't know how to work event viewer.
And yes, I've installed the correct version os WMDC seeing as it was the same file I used to install WMDC in the first place and that worked fantastically until now.
I don't know much about computers. that's why I'm here asking for a help because this kept happening only when I was doing stuff with WMDC.
The reason why I said I might do a clean install is because that might somehow fix my issues, so I wanted to do everything I can do first so that I wouldn't waste your time looking into my issue.

There's not really much to "work".
You hit Start, and search for it by typing "Event Viewer" into search -- it should be the top result, so you should just be able to hit ENTER.
Then you go to "Windows Logs" and below that "System" and look for the entry that corresponds to your STOP error screen.
If you sort by "Level" (by clicking the column header) you should be able to sort the most important entries to the top, thereby making your search a bit easier (pretty much everything gets logged in the event log...).
Once you find the error that corresponds to your STOP error screen (match up the time indexes), click on it, and that'll give you information in the bottom half of the screen.
Copy and paste that information here.
Here's a picture:

Unfortunately (?) my event log doesn't have a STOP error screen log entry in it...because my computers never BSoDs (properly-configured computers rarely do)...
Hi all,
Sorry if these steps has been posted elsewhere, but I see an increasing amount of people unable to connect to Kies, or simply doing a lot of completely unnecessary steps in the process.
Also, if there should be any redundant steps in this guide, please point them out and I will update the guide accordingly.
1. Make sure your phone is set to either 'Samsung Kies' or 'Ask on connection' under Settings > 'About phone' > 'USB settings'.
2. If you're not running the stock Samsung Launcher (TwLauncher) you need to switch back to it. I'm running ADW.Launcher and using Home Switcher to switch back to TwLauncher before I connect to Kies.
3. Once you're back on TwLauncher, go to Settings > 'SD card and phone storage'. Here you press 'Unmount SD card' under 'Internal SD card'.
4. Once the internal SD card has been unmounted, simply remount it by pressing 'Mount SD card'.
5. Press the Home button to be taken back to the Home page. Note: if you didn't set TwLauncher as your default home app, you shouldn't press the Home button, as that will launch your default home app, instead just backtrack to the Home page manually.
6. Connect your i9000 to your PC using the provided USB cable. If you set your USB settings to 'Ask on connection' in step 1, you'll see a popup where you pick 'Samsung Kies', otherwise it'll connect to Kies automatically.
7. If Kies isn't already started, fire it up and watch as it instantly recognizes your phone.
In some cases I've had Kies recognize my phone just by launching the stock TwLauncher without having to Unmount and Re-Mount the SD card. I'm not sure why, but my guess is that TwLauncher is checking if there are any conflicting apps running, and if any are detected it won't establish a connection.
EDIT: miki4242 has found a way around updating without having to start Kies here

step 3 can be skipped, i always do it that way and leaving the SD card on it's easy to drag and drop files into the phone
it doesn't cause problem with Kies AFAIK.

As I said, sometimes step 3 and 4 can be skipped, but usually Kies will not initiate a connection unless it has been done. At least that's my experience.
I'm guessing Unmounting and Remounting the internal SD will force the OS to close all non system apps and thus TwLauncher won't detect any conflicts and allow the connection to Kies to be made.
Nope! didn´t work, or should i say helped.

I'm not using an external SD myself, but if you are and are running any apps off it,
maybe try to unmount and remount that one as well
If above doesn't work/apply, please give some more info on your phone.
Which version of the i9000 is it? Are you running stock firmware, what launcher are you using etc.
miki4242 also came up with a nice way of flashing without directly using Kies.
Have a look here

nice guide....I didn't know about the mount-unmount trick. Now when I connect the usb cable the phone shows the "usb plug screen", kies shows the popup "connecting device" and...nothing happens, it keeps saying "connecting..." . I can see GT I9000 under windows explorer and browse Phone and Card memory, ma kies doesn't want to work. Argh.
I can only connect to Kies when I unmounted both internal and external SD cards . It connect straight away now, no more endless Connecting message ....
The joy of Kies.
I have to go into the device manager, uninstall the phone, then reconnect it, wait a few mins and it installs and picks it up.
Not tried the unmount, mount.
By The Way...
if anyone is still having a hard time with Kies, try this replacement, it's superb!

i tried everything to get kies to work because of the mtp looping and the only thing to stop it is to format internal sd card not your external sd card.

I did format the internal SD but it doesn't help.
- If I mount both internal and external SD, Kies just giving "Connecting the device..." message forever
- If I unmount external SD, Kies gave a Korean error message but Windows have a connection to the phone (shown as GT-I9000 under computer)
- If I unmount both internal and external SD, Kies giving "Connecting the device..." message forever and the MTP Application is looping ....
I'm using Windows Vista and using Kies 1.5.1.10074_2.
Any other tip guys? I only need Kies to update the official firmware.

I've tried to :
- remove from device manager
- unmount/mount ext/int sd
- flash new firmware
- deinst/reinst Kies
- reboot pc/phone
etc etc
Nothing helped me getting a connection to Kies...then I tried to format the internal SD and whoopawhoop! Connection success!
Thanks for the tip!
KIES sucks, I tried to uninstall the driver and install it again. And then I followed the steps one by one, but it's still couldn't get that MTP USB Device installed. It always failed to be downloaded to my Windows 7???
I have too i9000 that connect on my Windows 7 with Kies without problem. But just got new one i9000 and can't connect with Kies
I think I have found another solution. Follow these steps.
1) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 100% BATTERY!!
2) Airplane mode on in wp7.
3) Make sure you have zune installed and have a msn acc signed in before doing step 4
****some people have said that you wouldn't need wp7 sdk tools installed so this is an option you can do IN my case i have the sdk tools installed
4) Disconect all connections on your computer.
***MAKE SURE PORT 443 ISNT BEING USED
*** also in my case i didnt turn off my antivirus (you can if you want to).
5) connect phone to computer and sync it.
6) make sure zune starts up and your phone is showing in zune pc application
7) make sure that your phone isnt locked or the screen isnt off
8) start chevron running with admin priv. *(doesnt have to be in root of c)(i left mine in a folder in desktop)
9) load any app of any choice from other guides
*(i recommend doing the unlock reg hack install FIRST!!! B4 DISCONECTING THE PHONE FROM THE COMPUTER[to keep the phone from relocking its self] and the hd7 reg hack install [if you want to download apps from the market].)

i have done all that.
Phone is unlocked without any problem.
But when i try to deploy a xap file with tom xap installer it says make sure you're phone is unlockend.
Usb cable is connected and zune is running.
All ready did a master reset, turning off wifi and on airplane mode.
Date and time auto is off.
Can any one help me with this?
hate to say it - dont think its as simple as a master reset - think youll need to reformat sd and reflash wp7.
if sd is buggerd, use 'panasonic sd formatter' with 'format size adjustment' on.
then i guess ud need to follow the tried n tested guides on forum to finish off the install
flashed back to 6.5, format the sd.
Then step by step by the book to 7.
Still same error, unlock without a problem but can't deploy a xap to the phone
If your phone is unlocked and you can't deploy with XAP....try Aplication Deployment from Windows Phone Developer Tools (you'll find it in start-all programs-....). XAP gives me errors so I use this tool...and it works like a charm

is there a way to work around that?
I read that more people use the MS program to sideload the apps.

Hello,
Let me start by saying that I went over the other similar threads and couldn't find a solution to my specific problem.
As you'll see from the following sequence of Kies screen captures, when I try to upgrade my phone's firmware, when it's supposed to start downloading the new version, it loses contact with the phone, doesn't download anything and then crashes. Even if it doesn't crash, it just reconnects, only to tell me that my phone needs an upgrade (duh!!!!) and the process goes on again and again.
Phase 1 - Upgrade Notification:
{

}
Phase 2 - Upgrade Confirmation:
Phase 3 - Backup Confirmation:
Phase 4 - Lost Connection:
Phase 5 - The crash:
I tried many times, with or without backups, rebooted both my phone and PC several times and it always failed.
Note that I upgraded Kies to the latest version today and that didn't help either.
Any relevant advice would be highly appreciated as I have no clue on how to solve this issue.
Thanks a lot,
David
Can you try on a different PC? Just install Kies and try to upgrade and see if the same thing happens.
Also, in KIES top menus, there's an option to force a driver reinstallation on Windows. Try that to see if is solves in your own PC
Good luck
I don't have another PC
This happened to me. It was most likely due to my 3g mobile broadband. Kies doesn't like having other devices connected through USB besides the phone itself.
If you are using mobile broadband, try accessing the Internet via wifi or ethernet. If not, maybe you have something else connected through USB?
try with a wifi connection
i had exactly the same problem when tried with usb internet connection(crashed everytime) but with wifi it all went fine........no problem afterwards....
You could also try turning off(temporarily) your anti-virus/malware software.

Any suggestions??
I have had problem with Kies for throughout the last year with my S8500, tried everything possible and failed each and every time. But still I can make some suggestions,
1- It is right, try to do it with a Desktop PC, but Not with a Laptop/Netbook.
2- Try to do the same with a different OS, I had problem with XP x86, but it was gone with Win 7 x64.
3- At the last picture I notice that the Phone icon has a Lock icon next to it, so does your phone have some kind of password/code? If it is there try to remove it.
4- Battery doesn't need to be fully charged IMO, if it is over 50%it will do.
Regards.
Try a different microUSB cable.
Hi all,
After several reboots, I managed to download the firmware, but now it fails in the last phase, after it decompresses the binary files and is supposed to start the actual upgrade.
That's the screen I get:
It happened several times and I can't get past that point.
As for previous answers, I only have one laptop with a single OS, so I can't really try the other suggestions.
Thanks.
Well then yo have to get used with that problem. A Laptop is NOT recommended in these cases.
Why don't you go to a Internet Cafe and try it?
Regards.
why don't you flash with odin? you'll get the same result. and compared to kies - odin will work.
i have the same problems with Kies, for me Odin is not an option `cause i don't want to delete all the stuff in my phone
i get by the upgrade confirmation and then it fails, same error, already tried on my desk pc ( win 7 x86 / sp3 x86) and on my laptop (win 7 x64), same thing, the usb cable is brand new, i have both wifi and wired net connections, nothing works...
maybe someone will figure this **** out for us, is getting really frustrating...
I suffered this error also. After the first time I right-clicked the short-cut for Kies and set the program to Run As Administrator. Tried to update again - worked ok! Good luck!
I cannot see there being an issue with your laptop if it is plugged in and fully charged. Why not Backup your data using titanium, install the update via ODIN, restore data via titanium?, seems like a decent workaround?
For me there were two issues, Issue one was Microsoft .Net. I used Microsoft's removal tool to remove all .NET installations (Uninstall KIES first) then I reinstalled KIES. The second culprit was that I tried other USB cables before I actually used the included Samsung USB-cable, this was THE ONLY cable that worked for me.
My problem which was exactly the same as yours, was solved.
Try another usb port.

I got the same problem thought there were only 10-15% battery left. I believe every updating process needs sufficient battery power to complete the process successfully. I just fully charged and tried again and got the thing right.

Try uninstalling the drivers via "Device Manger" on your pc and reconnect the device. Also, do u have usb debugging enabled in developer options?

Now after a reset of the phone, device isn't recognized and the connected as media device doesn't show up anymore. Tried more than 1 computer.
Try uninstall the USB drivers from your PC. Or try other USB ports to detect your device. Sounds like your USB drivers has screwed up. Should not be your device problem.

I tried on some other computers... You think uninstalling the drive will solve the problem since it's not on my main PC only?
EDIT : May it have something to do with this?
I have a feeling it is the charging port. I had a similar issue. Are you good with a soldering iron?

Before start working on the hardware, I suggest to investigate the software side further. Have you make a factory reset? (Worst case). Try enable and disable the USB debugging mode as well. http://androidteen.com/how-to-enable-usb-debugging-mode-on-android-devices/
Try to toggle both media file mode and camera mode. See what is the response from your device to pc.

You uninstall the driver via "Device Manager" which u can get by right clicking "My computer" and click on Manage.
Then find the device manager tab and find your device on the list.
