Reloading automatically a web browser - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

I'm not sure my request is in the right topic (if not, could you please let me know?)
Anyway, I'd like to know if there is a program that allows us to reload automatically the pages from Opera or IE. In fact, I check my work emails using webmail and Opera. The problem is that after a while (without reloading), I have to enter a password (a long one given randomly by a device) what is very annoying! That could be avoided with this kind of program!
Thanks in advance for your help

Pocket Internet Explorer Question

Hiya,
I have a problem with internet explorer on my Xda2, Ive searched the forums and cant find anything that helps. The problem is that whilst I'm surfing on my xda and go to another program, then switch back to IE and IE has reset back to the home page. This happens all the time, which means if someone messages me on msn whilst I'm surfing I lose the web page. Its very irritating and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
Hi,
I am not really sure what causes the problem you explained, but why dont you consider other web browser for your XDAII? Here is the list of some alternative web browsers for pocketpc:
1. Access Netfront 3.0 (www.access-us-inc.com)
2. Thunderhawk (www.bitstream.com/wireless/)
3. MultiIE (www.multiie.info)
Personally, I prefer Netfront and Thunderhawk. Anyway, you should check those for yourself.
Regards.

The cause of the problem is that Pocket IE gets closed. So when you "switch back" to Pocket IE, you're actually launching it again. And the new instance of Pocket IE starts at the home page. Too bad I only know the cause of the problem and not the solution.
Perhaps you are hitting the 32 process limit when you switch to another application.
Perhaps try upgrading to the latest ROM, and also remove unused apps from the windows\startup folder.
HTH,
Dave
Try to set the home page to BLANK!
Also try MultiIE its the best of all,, you can save images, save web pages, scroll the page by tapping it, and much more....

Explorer and Opera don't show some webpages

I've tried these two browsers but i've some problems with some web pages like mail webpage of my e-mail provider Libero Italy or the itinerary of Viamichelin web page. Pages go ahead but don't charge everything well, making usage impossible.
Thia happens also using Operamini as java applet.
I'm using the new official gps enabled Rom but this happened also with the former Rom.
My old Samsung phone managed java Operamini applet to show everything.
Does somebody know this issue and has a solution?
The good thing about the trinity is to behave like a PC along the street, but without this kind of pages many advantages become lost.

gmail drive for windows mobile?

It is known that gmail account can be simulated as a new drive on your PC by an application called "GMail Drive shell extension". http://www.viksoe.dk/code/gmail.htm
For Symbian there is also a program "GSpaceMobile" which can do that job. https://www.ibomobi.com/home/gspacemobile_free
So I wonder if there is such a tool for WM system which can simulate a gmail account as a network disk or some guy is willing to develop one ?
Thanks.
Bump.
This is actually a really good idea.
sounds like a neat idea, I might try to see what this would take.

With bated breath and whisp'ring humbleness I wait for those more skilled than I take on this task.
Seems like a great idea.
Sounds like a Really useful thing to have please have a go someone
Wow! This does sound very interesting.....
i had the same idea!
but it is forbidden in the term of use of gmail...

If we detect abnormal usage that may indicate that your account has been compromised, we may temporarily disable access. It will take between one minute and 24 hours for access to be reinstated, depending on the behavior detected by our system.
Unusual account activity includes, but is not limited to:
1. Receiving, deleting, or downloading large amounts of mail via POP or IMAP in a short period of time. If you're getting the error message, 'Lockdown in Sector 4,' you should be able to access Gmail again after waiting 24 hours.
2. Sending a large number of undeliverable messages (messages that bounce back).
3. Using file-sharing or file-storage software, browser extensions, or third party software that automatically logs in to your account.
4. Leaving multiple instances of Gmail open.
5. Browser-related issues. Please note that if you find your browser continually reloading while attempting to access your Inbox, it's probably a browser issue, and it may be necessary to clear your browser's cache and cookies.

If you have the skill to code a gmail drive, how about this much simpler idea- an app which automatically e-mails your pictures to a g-mail account, and another app on your desktop which automatically downloads the pictures to your desktop and deletes them.
The advantage of using gmail in the middle is that the process becomes asynchronous - your pc does not have to be on to work and neither does your phone have to be contactable for your pc to download the photos.

Doesn't that include pretty much any and all automated checking, such as push mail polling and thunderbird (imap / pop) clients ?
That's pretty restrictive wording.. much like the snafu with the Chrome release, where they stated "anything you enter via forms in the browser online is now copyright google" - they had to fix that after a large public outcry.

Check out PocketPicasa which does just that. Well it gets them as far as Google anyway, then use Picasa 3 on the desktop to retrieve them.

Picassa is a heavy client, and from my checking does not do automated downloads. I would not want to have it running in the background on my desktop all the time.
Actually I have already found a VBA script for outlook that will automatically save picture attachments from an e-mail folder to my desktop, so all I really need is the windows mobile side to automatically e-mail the pictures (although a special purpose dedicated pair would be even better)

That hardly seems like a problem. Create a second account to use with your cell. If they lock it then its a lot less troubling. Besides, they don't monitor this kind of stuff. I've been using the same concept on my pc for a long time. Being able to have a network hdd on my phone and pc would be supurb!
bumping for the greatness of the idea
Doesn't anyone with developing skills see a use for this?
I have scoured everywhere for a wm solution to gmail drive. gonna keep watch on this, hopefully someone makes it happen.
The Idea is widespread
The idea's popped up in other places as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433913
Also, I am recalling that I looked into this concept years back using Xdrive by AOL. From what I remember they released an experimental mobile version but have since shut it down. Maybe we can find a way to tap into either of these valuable resources.
I can't think of a solution for Gmail but I have been using Microsofts Live Mesh on my computers and mobile. It syncs up between your desktops and you can also access it thru the mobile browser. I don't think there is a dedicated mobile app though.
It's still a tech preview, but it should work for what you are describing.

"Not yet available for mobile."
The words: "Soon to be available" + the words: "Microsoft" in the same sentence = uncontrollable laughter then disinterest.
...sorry, can't help it.

Windows live mobile fun :(

Hi
I got my HD2 yeasterday flashed it to 1.66 before I even put a sim in it and its been working really well. O2 even sent me a phone I could flash from HTC's website.
One is is that after maybe 1 hour or 4 hours windows live mobile will fail to connnet to msn and pull down emails. Restarting the phone is the only fix.
I have unticked the proxy setting just for it to retick when I click OK. Everything else will work fine just WLM will stop working.
Any ideas why and how to fix it as it is a very helpful feature?
Same, WLM is just useless. It will crash after about an hour starting by "the wireless network is currently unavailable" even if it is, at which point it's impossible to force it to disconnect, to close it, and it will hang task managers that try to enumerate the running processes so no way to kill it. After several long minutes it will finally say "you've been disconnected" stops hanging everything and can be closed, but relaunching it and trying to reconnect will only give a "network is unavailable" popup straight away before it even tries to connect. Usually it will cause lockups to other programs too in its wake, forcing a reboot.
I'd really appreciate a solution or alternative. Slick crashes with memory errors, IMPlus only manages to connect to msn half the time even if other protocols always work... I just can't find any msn client that actually works.
hmmmm guess ill have to wait for an update to appear. Meanwhile im going to unsync my email and do hotmail via pop3/imap.
Please post which version of WLM you are using (or is it just the one with the stock rom?).
I`m using an updated version and it's working flawlessly here (although it had problems syncing in the beginning).
OK:
try this one
http://rapidshare.com/files/333732216/WindowsLive.PPC2005_arm.cab
or
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L4VOCVG1
ive tried the updated version from the market place and it still does it.
I have loaded your first link onto my phone and we shall see how it goes. I have noticed if i leave MSN signed in it seems to do stop syncing and when i sign out msn the email works again.
10.7.0061.0500.2000, which is cooked in the ROM i use (see below).
And they really could make longer version numbers...
OK, downoading yours now.
tried both of them and the fault still shows. I have created a post on the windows mobile forums which I hope MS will see and will get to the bottom of the issue.
Here is the post for those who wish to contribute: social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsmobile/thread/5c420f13-001e-42d6-924c-7385b0274221/ <<< Copy and paiste into your browser as im not allowed to post links yet.
i have the EXACT same prob! my life wud be SO much better if this prob didnt exist. its so frustrating i cant stand it anymore!!! come on ive solved EVERY prob on xda-developers somebody MUST knw the answer
I met the exact same problem. So I have to find a 3rd party IM software Beejive IM.
But it's pretty strange that in WM system, we even can't use MSN.
Hope some one could fix the problem.

does the nudge feature work with mobile msn.or do i need to update the version.where can i get the latest version of wlm
I don't use this software, but have you attempted to edit the registry?
EG what is the proxy it defaults to?
Whenever I install a clean ROM, I *must* go in the registry to HKLM/Comms/ConnMgr/Providers/(something)/(something)/Proxy and clear the key - otherwise youtube NEVER works.
The reason behind this is because everytime you load youtube, Youtube assumed ^that proxy was the one you needed, so it copied the value to HKLM/Software/HTC/Youtube/ProxyName, and nothing worked.
I'm assuming similar behavior is happening here?
So my question is: WHAT proxy is it automatically using?
It can't be a proxy issue, because as mentioned msn works, just that it will "crash" after about 1hr of use, and only then won't connect anymore until the next soft reset.
Hi there!
Same problem with windows love here. At best the service is reasonable....most of the time its just not!
Anyway; instead of just complaining I want to make it better and try the new version in the supplied link above. There is a notification however about deleting the older version existig on the phone before installing the new version. Question: how to delete the old version?? It's not in the programlist...
Anyone?
It asks if you want to uninstall, just answer "yes" and it does (or does not, but who cares, it does install the new one afterwards )
The one in the link was the same I already had though, so no help. I'm using IM+ lite now. Not perfect, but at least it works.
HD2
Ok i dont know if this is anything to do with this thread but got a hd2 but msn doesnt work on wi-fi? does anyone know how to get this fixed? it only works on Data
Thanks
Has anyone found a solution for this yet?
Just wondering, why dont you use the default mail client on WM(setup the mail account) and for messenger, use parlingo? I too had my run with Windows live messenger failing me. I actually did what i've typed and became a happier man. Maybe you like to try that?
i use only exchange email sync and that works perfekt. Lets me have gmail on outlook exchange. But it sux that we cant use a microsoft product full out on a windows phone, makes no sense. All rom cookers seem to given up on msn messenger. But setting hotmail only to sync "as ithems arrive" works great.
Yeah I use Palringo but WLM has much better visuals, ah well I'll give up on it aswell.

Japan - Mixi Registration

This isn't really HD2 specific but, it's the phone that I'm using so I'm putting the thread here.
I'm trying to register on Mixi. The process starts with registering and confirming a "PC" e-mail (In my case, a g-mail account). Then, filling out personal particulars etc. etc. Finally, they ask you to put in your Japanese e-mail/phone-mail/MMS-mail account to which they send a confirmation message. I get this with no problems (many thanks again to BeeGee for helping this be possible) but, when I click the link in the message I get an error message saying there was a problem with a link to the tune of "use this link if you're on a PC".
I suspect that the problem is that the phone connects to the link like a PC rather than a Japanese phone. So the site thinks that the phone is a PC.
Now, without this final step, I can't actually complete the registration process. I have heard of the .edu work-around and will resort to that if all else fails. But having a working phone-mail address I would like to be able to use that instead.

It might be that it is expected that the link is opened in one of the strange Softbank phone browsers. The type they have on their cheap phones.
What you can try is to check the settings of your browser and set it to mobile view.
This can be done in Opera under menu/settings/display.
In Internet Explorer you go to menu/Tools/Options/Other and select Mobile Device.
Third solution, put your SIM card into a Softbank phone (not WMobile), get the confirmation email there, click on the link and it will connect thru the phones browser.
Thanks for that!
Switching to mobile view didn't work in Opera or IE.
I really should have thought of that last option myself
Thanks again BeeGee!
excuse me,,
can you help me too ?
