Yet Another "Doesn't Boot" Question! - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

First off, howdy to everyone on the forums!
Alright, I flashed my AT&T 8125 with a super feature-packed wm6 rom andd everything was working perfectly. I got a little disenchanted with TouchFlo, so I downloaded a vanilla rom and tried to flash it again.
Bad mistake - at 99% the flashing process stopped and said something about "communication error." The 8125 was displaying a screen with a fading red bar, a fading green bar, and a fading blue bar with some numbers in the upper left (IPL 3.08 and SPL 3.08). Oh, and there's "RUU" displayed in the upper right. It will sit at this screen forever.
However, when I plug it into my computer with a mini usb cable, the phone just acts like an unrecognized usb device (I get the usb connected sound on the computer) and the phone starts blinking on and off, displaying the same screen as before.
How badly is this thing messed up? Is there any way to fix this? I hear tell of some "boot from mini-sd card" sorcery, but I have no idea.

I got almost the same problem...
Hi,
I got the same problem...after flashing to 100% it was stuck and has to take it off. And after that it comes on with three color bars and does not connects thru Active snyc....and every ROM unitluty says there is connection error.....
Any help from anyone....
Thnx!1

Hello,
same happened to me...and no ROM utility would work.
...except : the old WM5 "button" ROM that people use to downgrade.
you can start from there. Downgrade to that ROM, and if successfull, then you can reapply IPL/SPL upgrade, Radio upgrade, then the latest WM6 ROM of your choice.
The name of the "button" ROM I used, should you need to Google it :
"CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE"
Sylvain

If you'll read the stickies and stuck in bootloader thread it'll tell you how to fix.

look this .ru solution http://pda2u.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=348
the translation is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306892&page=4
other post to solve the problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=274766
have a lot to read, if you find another solution please post it
why have a solution in .ru from 17/06/08 and no in English ?
I see a black holes in the .ru translation and don't try it
Best regards

Did you read the stickies in the Wizard Mobile 6 Board? Somehow that seems unlikely, if you're still lost.

Stuck on vendor screen

Hi
Yes, I joined the "Bricked my Artemis" club.
Problem is what do I do now? It says "Load the original vendor ROM" in this forum but how? I don't have the luxury of ActiveSync anymore. I tried connecting via mtty and that worked. I've tried to reset there and it took the commands but when I reset it still only shows the vendor screen.
I have downloaded a software package from the vendor that branded my phone but it's the normal AS update tool. I just realized my Bootloader Screen (three colors, you know) changed to a grey screen with a progress bar hanging at 0%. What the?
I read somewhere that perhaps my bootloader is too new. But how do I downgrade without AS?
I hope you can help me. I need the damn phone for my job...
Edit: I managed to get an original ROM onto it again, so please ignore this. Although I'm still trying to find out how to get USPL to cooperate...
have the same problem
Hi, how have you solved the issue. It came up to be the same problem with me as well. Thanks Radas

HardSPLing

I have spent most of my evening trying to flash my phone to HardSPL.
Any advice would be very appreciated.
I've searched the forums here and read all sorts of guides, but i cant seem to get anything to work right.
If anyone can point me in the right direction or let me know how this works that would be great.
in particular, what doesnt work right?
I plug my phone in.
Then i run the Rom Update Utility.
It then asks if i want to run JumpSPL on my mobile device.
I select yes.
My phone goes white
It restarts
I recieve a error on the Rom Update Utility
Error 276: Communications error
JumpSPL doesn't really work. I have no idea why it's pitched to be supposed to work.
you need the herald specific HardSPL. Look in the herald forums for a thread with a name something like "HardSPL on herald-working!"
comm error

As soon as you get the error..
1. unplug the phone
2. put it in bootloader mode (press camera button + reset button)
3. replug phone back in.
you will see the letters usb on the bottom left hand side of the phone and the phone will continue loading.

to make your herald phone hardSPL. I have done it thru this method without problems. ASERG is one of the best.
I continued my forum search and found some helpful threads.
Finally got the job done.

Multiple problems with SnapVue and OS Side

Hello guys,
First of all I'm sorry for creating separated thread with problems, but i want to post them clearly and in one place. I hope that you can help with this, cause I'm trying and trying with many many ways, and nothing works for me . So lets start:
I have succesfully installed Windows XP on my machine. It works perfect.
But there are some problems ofcourse
First of all, the snapvue (I've installed liberated ROM) won't run. Nothing works. There is only black screen and 3G led is blinking. The only way I can run snapvue is to drain battery to 0%, and then plug the adaptor and wait a second. And the only time, that snapcue is starting - its when bios saying that i have 2% battery and it will close in... etc etc. Anyway, for some reason its hanging up after a while. So again - its not working.
I've tried the comonex way many many times with no success. There is only black screen all the time.
And now: I've tried it today again, and when I'm starting mtty, there is no USB anymore.
I've done it before, so please, don't tell me, that I'm not following the instructions .
I don't know what to do. Because of that - there is no sound in Windows, and anyway i need SnapVue side to run some 3G modem .
Now the OS side:
Wlan won't work. When I'm trying to install the driver it says: "Error 10, device can't start" or something like this.
I've tried all the solutions provided here without success. What should i do, and what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks.
Cheers,
Chris
SnapVue Side
Did you Hard reseted your snap vue ?
tryed to install HardSPL ?
What about taking out the battery and replug it (dont fire os only snapvue)
Is it working then ?

Hello, for this.. I will keep on cmonex things.
First : are you able to use ECShift.exe ? if yes... try "ECShift.exe -gm" (without quotes) to see if it works (first) and what is the value (0 or 1). If it is 1, you are in the bootloader and need to go out of this using "ECShift.exe -mode0" and then soft-reset snapvue with "ECShift.exe -reset".
You might say that you already do that... maybe yeah. but you need to see exactly why it is black, is it black because of stopping to display, or because it enters bootloaders.... etc..
Second : if you get access to WM, go to the snapvue settings button (if you still have the snapvue today plugin) and go to power -> advanced .. there you should uncheck both if they are checked.. just to try that the issue does not come from there.
Hope it will be better for snapvue side. I let you answer that, and I will see later for the following issues.
I've tested -gm already before and it shows good vaules. But when I'm trying to go to SnapVue Side - there is nothing. Only black screen.
One more thing:
I have HardSPL already,
I've flashed liberated ROM, Flashed gullums ROM, and no go.

well "good" values does not mean anything to me... I guess you mean "0" all the time (because you don't need to go in the bootloader).
and what do you see if you type use the -reset command (with snapvue in mode0) in snapvue? Do you see the HTC screen? (white) or nothing at all.. always black?

Good values means:
When i type -bl, then -gm it shows mode 1,
-mode0 then -gm - shows mode 0...
After reset its always black.
Now I cant run it even on this warning screen
Only 3G icon is blinking. Rest is black like ***hole

clio110 stands for X9500.
you should try a tool in vista which display the WM part... I don't remember the name but I know that there exists at least one. I wish I remember that... grr.. was using it before my touch left me. and this utility allows to have a mouse in WinMob which is pretty nice ^^ (but useless IMO).
I will try to ask cmonex about your issue, but it seems that something is wrong.. but why? "hum"... you should try to flash cmonex's (rom and see what happens... his roms are the most secured and less modified and if it does not work with his rom, then it is coming from something else which might be harder to solve.

Ok, new update: I've managed to flash that rom, but again - black screen always But there is one more thing:
I've run SnapVue (as I stated before - when there is "Battery low, device will turn off in...), and then started Windows - well, i had sound for a second, and I could change between XP and SV, but in a second - black screen again and under XP this message:
You just plugged device into audio jack.
And nothing. Sound is dead and SV side is dead... damn.
try flashing stock 1.30.405 then... I posted that somewhere (do a search for my posts in shift forum)

Thank you for suggestion.
I've done as you stated... but nothing changes. At normal boot (after taking out battery), WInMo side wont work.
Any news in that thread anyone?
Did you check the WM power settings?
Did you check that the WM Advanced Power Settings was not switching the WM side off? Read my last post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440437
You will need to use the Vista reset SnapVUE utility first to start it up first
*EDIT* Just re-read your first post and saw that you are running XP, oh well - if you can quickly start SnapVUE then check your power settings. Good Luck!

I cannot get Hard-SPL to work

Hi all, well I'm new to the Polaris but have many devices as you can see in my siggy, but this one is really getting to me. Okay I'm trying to Hard-SPL my Polaris (Orbit 2) and the thing i hav never seen, it asks me to unplug the USB during installation (then plug it back in right away I presume?)... so i do this, and it all goes fine to 100% on the grey screen, and yay!
BUT when I enter into bootloader mode by pressing camera/reset together I only see these numbers in red:
R 1.58.25.14
G 25.69.30.05H
D 1.25.00.00
(did it work?)
Also a stupid question, but how do i know when I am in bootloader mode? is it just booting into the OS normally but showing the red numbers in the left corner on the 'O2' splash page.. is that it? I mean it loads into the OS normally after this, so I don't get why we have to 'enter in bootloader mode' before flashing a ROM.. I mean do we start flashing it while the splash screen is showing, or what until it is fully loaded as usual in the OS?
I know these are really basic questions, but this is unlike any other device I have and cannot find these answers after searching in basic new guys thread.
So, why isn't the Hard SPL working? I have done it twice now, and it says 100% but i cannot see the .olixpro in any of the number strings as it saidi would.
What am i doing wrong here.
Replug your device! = that means quickly unplug and plug back in the USB right? done that!
Arggh, if anyone can help me answer all the above questions, it will help me maybe get to the bottom ofr this thing. In the meantime, more reading!
thanks guys!
UPDATE: OK, now I have the bootloader thing sorted.
But, do I have to manually enter the bootloader screen before running the RomUpdateUtlity.exe of the new ROM I want to flash, or just flash it while its in the normal OS... some instructions are very lacking here.
--
UPDATE: OK, I tried to enter bootloader mode manually then flash the rom (some instructions say to do this) but my PC would not connect with the device, so I just flashed the rom while in the OS like i normally do on my other devices.. and itenters bootloader automatically anyway via the ROM...
So this was more bogus info, stay away from the 'NEW GUYS' thread, it is not well explained.
i understood it right away but as we say.. 100 people, 100 thoughts.
new guy post and update utility say you have to make full working active sync connection of phone with pc and you cant do it unless phone is fully booted.
im glad you got it sorted out

Help with Cingular 8525/Herm100 mobile phone/mobile windows pda

I am seriously needing some light shed over here please some one i have been hunting and hunting, I even wrote a post to try to get help please help me so if any one else needs any help like this I may be able to help them also.
My phone was going through a flash when it restarted it got "Bricked" at the Windows Mobile splash screen. I want to know is there any way I can unbrick my Cingular HTC 8525 Herm100 device, via SD(micro). I have reformated my card but it still wont go to the bootloader, I have witnessed the small text at the bottom left of the screen that reads "No GSM" imediately after the phone comes on. Now either I am over reading something or missed something but if I could trouble some of the devs, admins, users, or even (not recommended, but im desperate to get working) flamers...
Please help me so that I may help others later on. Thank you
Im not a know it all....but I'll try and help.
Questions...
1) Have you tried to do a Manual load of the Boot-loader (POWER+OK+RESET)..?
Usually I HOLD the POWER+OK then hit the RESET while still holding the other two buttons, until the boot-loader loads.
2) Try taking out your Sim's card, see if the NO GSM is still there...?
I've had this problem on other phones in the past.
3) Unbricking using the SD card..? try doing a SEARCH THIS FORUM option for a
more dedicated search...
I would use a USB cord for the unbricking, as I have had better chances of undoing a brick.
Also you can used a "Motorola Razr", USB cord also with this phone for the USB options.
Well hope something works for you.
Thanks and good Luck.
Jake Howe
You also need to have installed Hard SPL V7... If you haven't then I hope you have a copy of your SHIPPED STOCK ROM as this may be th eonly thing that will fix your Hermes. If it has the "No GSM" error then its possible you will still have a brick. It generally means the radio rom is corrupted and is impossible to fix...
Thank you guys for the response I have reversed the brick of the phone a few days ago. My other question is, do anyone know how/or if it is possible to flash the phone and lock it to an "IDEN" type phone or know the Network ID Code for a Carrier called, boost mobile; a subsidiary of Sprint/Nextel.
