Hi people,
I've been reading up a lot on this forum since I got my new HTC Cruise (09) a few weeks ago, and I'm amazed at what's going on with windows mobile.
Currently I'm using my HTC Album when I want to watch movie clips, however, it lacks the ability to properly identify the video since it only shows on of the first frames of the video and not the file name. Therefore I normally start videos from the file explorer, but it's a little awkward and I cannot browse through the files like with pictures.
So is there a way to make HTC Album show me the file names while browsing through the files?
Thanks
Archer

If the VideoLoader.dll plugin for PIE can do more then just the sites that come with it. It's great, but I was wondering if there's a way to edit the dll so that it works on file association instead of the website association it seams to have. Watching Youtube is great, but I'd like to load other sites, or even use the plugin to have the same UI (Play Video, Save Video, Go to Linked page) on other sites for video files supported by the device. Some kind of app that let's the user config the device based on the files you want. Example, I'd want to be able to use the plugin for .flv files and .mpeg files, but I wouldn't want it to take over the .wmwebasf files.
I've attached the file if someone else wants to look at it.
Also, if someone else knows a program/plugin that does the same thing, that'd be great. It's for a T-Mobile Dash on the 1.33.422.1 ROM or any WM5/6 smartphone for that matter
neat, does this just go in the windows folder?
It's actually part of the FlashVideoBundle plugin for TCPMP, but only works on certain web pages. I'll post the files that are part of it
Hi everyone,
My name is Carlos and i'm from Barcelona, and this is my first post here.
I have a HTC Diamond, and i would like to know if there is a way to ignore folders into the HTC Album, because i'm very tired of browsing on dumb folders when i want to see my real photos.
I've read in other threads about putting folders the "Ignore" entry in the registry, but it seems it doesn't works... or maybe i do not know how to do it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=404948
Is there a way to get rid of these folders that i do not want to see? Is there a new version of the HTC album with some kind of folder selector? Or any other third part software to do this?
I'm really desperate on this, because i love the HTC Album, but is really annoying to browse so long to find my photos amongst that crap...
Many thanks!
you can always select the folder you want to browse by clicking "album" (left softkey in htc album) and then select the good folder
Set the "hidden" file attribute on all jpegs in folders you want to ignore.
does the photo viewer pick every single jpeg on the phone by default or does it only show pictures from certain folders - i.e my pictures folder (wether internal storage or located elsewhere).
I got a load of photographs I dont want anyone to see (wink wink nudge nudge) just by picking up my phone and selecting photos.
Ive got to many to mark each one as hidden.
I remember I managed it to work before last hard reset, but now I forget how I did that... I'll look into it and let you guys know if if find anything out
That's just the problem, the album picks EVERY single jpg in the phone, and there's no option to avoid it.
Now I have about 200 folders when i click on Album list, so the album is not useful anymore, i do no not want to waste 3 minutes to browse down in the album list to find that pictures that i'm loking for...
The "hidden" option it doesn't works... too much folders to hide anyway...
The hidden option works absolutely fine on my Diamond. It's the files that have to be hidden not the folders.
if the photos are in internal storage, connect the Diamond to a pc as a USB drive and do a search for all jpeg files from the pc . Select all the search results (or just the ones that need hiding) and right-click to adjust all the properties at the same time.

Click to collapse
WOOOOOW !!
Davey101, that was a pretty brilliant idea!!
I thought I should hide folders, not individual files. I follow your instructions to hide all the undesired jpg files. I've seen other folders in the Album with bmp, png ad gif files, and they were also hidden.
Maybe is not the best way to definitely solve this matter, but it seems there is no other one for the moment, and the result is that now i've just have what i want in the Album list. Cool
Many thanks for your help!
Folder Seleting
Also,Dont know if you already know but every photo album folder listed from the album button has the setting to select it has your favourite.Your favourite album will then be accessed from the "photos and videos link from tf3d.Saves searching through lots of folders!
I've been reading the copious threads about ripping movies onto the Touch Pro 2, and have been using the Catalyst 3 program with some success by just using the standard Touch Pro 2 settings in the software.
I read in some of the threads that some software on the TP2 can use the hardware acceleration function and some can't which makes for smoother movie viewing, etc. My question is this: When I put my converted mp4 movie on my SD card and onto the TP2, how should I view it to get maximum performance from the device? Should I put in a folder so that the movie is in the Album viewer and tap it in the album viewer and view it from there? Should I just locate the movie file using file explorer, tap on it, and view it that way? Or should I open the included Windows Media Player, then open the file from within that program? Or does it even matter? Will all 3 methods provide equal performance?
Thanks!
As to answer your question I just use the album viewer. I have the shortcut in my favorite programs and use that to navigate to my videos folder and select my movie and play. Im sure there is a way to create a shortcut to the Video Player itself through the regisrty but I havent found it yet.
You want to play the file using HTCAlbum, and not Windows Media Player; but whether you launch HTCAlbum and then load the file, or whether you associate .mp4 files with HTCAlbum and launch it from File Explorer makes no difference (except that the second way is probably easier!). HTCAlbum is quite possibly already the default application for .mp4 files anyway, so you may not need to actively associate it.
Is there an alternative to HTC's Album - with similar large icons that can view photos and video.. I cannot seem to organise my files by name ( needed to view comics) or file size...also I don't seem to get preview thumbnail for WMV files.
Does someone know of any settings/reg.hack for the Album..or a good alternative, as Im not too keen on WM standard gallery app either.
Thanks.
I'm looking for the same thing, i searched over the registry, but i didn't found anything
I can't organize my pictures in the chronological order...
Honest guys, I searched and searched here and all over the internet
I've had my HD2 for about 6 months now. I'm not up to your level of tweakiness with mobile phones
Just upgraded to the latest O2 ROM - 1.72.xxx ?
AND I realise posting new threads on here is faux pas in the extreme, but I spent hours searching and I have a headache plus maybe a small deathwish now!
Please, please, please can someone tell me the answers to;
1. What format do my music videos have to be in, on my storage card, to pick them up in the Photo's and Video's album? I've converted them to mp4 but still I'm told there are no videos found
2. My previous phone was a POS LG Renoir, however, compared to my HD2 it had one redeeming quality in that any photo I looked at I could select 'Send' and Bluetooth was an option. On my HD2 Facebook, Messages etc etc are the only options. Up until 6 months ago I used the bluetooth on my Renoir alot to send work photos. Is there anyway to enable this 'right click' function?
3. I signed up for this phone for 2 years, thinking it was the bees knees. Colleagues at work all waited for the HD2 Desire, and it looks fantastic. I'd ditch WinMo in a heartbeat to have Android - but after reading 100 pages of the 415 available....Is Android a viable option yet? (not taking away the extremely hard word the developers have put into it)
Sorry for asking such newbie questions but as I said originally I just can't find the answers on here (probably because of my ineptitude with using the search function)

Not sure if it helps but a work around for sending pics via bluetooth is using file explorer instead of album providing of course you know where your pics are and you know what the pics is called unless you have renamed them you can then press and hold the pic until menu pops up the first option is send via bluetooth
Not sure about the Vids did you save them to your storage card/video folder?
Just read up a little there is another option, you can use the pictures and video app which is in the multimedia folder in start menu this will show what pics you have on device or SD card with thumbnails again hold the pic and select bluetooth from pop up menu
Again regarding Vids I had several Vids which were stored in my DCM folder and did not show up in Album/Video I just moved them to the video folder on my SD card and now they show up so check that out
Thanks ozmoran for your reply
The bluetooth thing works a treat, can find pics by thumbnail and send by bluetooth. Much better than the work around I had figured using file explorer
Not as easy as having bluetooth being a send option from albums though (just in case anyone can make this work!!)
As for vids showing under albums, I did what you suggested, even reformatted the card. But unfortunately for me it still doesn't work. When I use the album 'search' bit the phone sees two files briefly (two music vids I've encoded to mp4) but then disappears them and says 'no photos or videos found'. I can browse to them normally and play them, in fact they look fantastic. Video I record on the phone shows up in Albums ok, so I guess it's a problem with the way I've encoded mine. I'll do a gspot comparison tomorrow and try to figure out where I'm going wrong
Really annoying though, I wanted the HD2 to be like an iPhone 4 but with the capability of making phone calls!! hahahaha!
Balders
oh well half the problem solved
I had the same prob with Avatar the file was too big I think I re encoded it and now I can watch it but only with media player and it wont show up in my vids in album either
You could always make a shortcut to your vids and put them on a quicklink I suppose
all depends how fast you want to find those vids eh
let me know how it goes
Ps this is much better than the other one and you know it ha ha
