[guide] personal sms shortcut - XPERIA X1 General

Hello everybody,
I found this out and thought that there may be others who could use this.
It will allow you to create an .lnk that will start a sms message to a certain number. It is not hard, you just need to know the stuff
First of all, you will need a advanced file manager like Total Command(er?)
This is what to do.
Go to the windows folder and copy Tmail.exe
Go to the my documents (or any other folder) and paste shortcut
browse to the folder of TCMD and long press the shortcut
select properties
select "shortcut" tab
add this to the target, outside the "". '-service "SMS" -to "Name <number>"
So it will look like this:
Code:
"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to "Jenny <8675309>"
You can add this shortcut to your start menu and send easy messages. With any today app launcher you can even add this to your home screen

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Go to SMS any folder. Then tap Menu>Tools>Manage Folders... Tap and hold on any folder and choose "New folder"
Hope this helps.
are you using a threaded SMS style? or the classic inbox?
if you are using the normal classic inbox, (in the inbox/messaging appication) go to menu (right soft key)>tools>mangae folders> then tap and hold a folder (for example inbox)>a pop up menu comes up and then tap on New Folder...
it's a bit tricky and hidden (no actual menu entry) so most doesn't know this even exsists..

I'll add to this..
If you have WM6.1 with threaded style Inbox, you can disable threading first (do search how) and then you can "manage folders" to add a New Folder.
After which you can enable threading again.
ahh thanx, the problem was the THREADING. Cos the "new folder" option was greyed out.
thnx ppl
Do You know maybe appkication, which will autamatically (similar as in mail clients) put sms to ritght folder according to rules (phone numebr, subject etc.) ?
Thanks in advance.
Easy Helper SMS Security takes certain messages to a seperate program, which can also be password protected
You set rules for the filtering, ie names, numbers, keywords etc

Need help with shortcut to messaging

Just upgraded to 6800 Mogul that came with WM6.1. I have a today plugin that requires the shortcut to SMS, but the tmail shortcut just takes me to the screen where I chose between email and messaging. Is there a direct link or shortcut to SMS?
I did a search for this, but could not find the answer. Thanks in advance.
There is a setting in the messaging program to not start at the account picker. Just make sure that it isn't set to do so and you'll go straight to text messaging or whatever account u last had opened. Press left or right to move from account to account.
Make a copy of the "tmail.exe" shortcut, or just copy the "Messaging.lnk"
Depending on which explorer you use, I use Resco so I can change the path, but it should look like this:
"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" "-to" "-body"
Have that in your properties for the shortcut, if not, open a new notepad file and copy that shortcut and save it as "New SMS.lnk".
this will take you directly to the sms section bypassing the select account screen

Hardware key straight to sms inbox

Is there any way of assigning the sms inbox to one on the hardware keys?
Thanks in advance
For sure. Get yourself a Registry Editor (there are multiple ones; I prefer the one form resco that comes with Resco Explorer, which is shareware, but you can also use PHMRegedit I think it's called, that's free). Then change this key:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112]
"Default"="Start"
"Open"=":MSINBOX"
Default will contain the label of the button on homescreen, Open the file to open. :MSINBOX should directly take you to your inbox. I think you could also use "poutlook.exe -service "SMS" -inbox" instead of :MSINBOX, this would always take you to your SMS inbox. :MSINBOX goes to last-opened.
hey thnks for the rept but after typing in ;msinbox nothing happens when i press the hardware key :S
It's a : and not ;. If you did this correct and it still doesn't work, try this instead of :MSINBOX
Code:
tmail.exe -service "SMS"

Changing Soft Key quick question

Hello all,
I've had my Pro for two days now, and I'm working on changing the softkeys with a registry editor called "PHM Registry Editor".
Right now, I've got my right soft key set to bring up my SMS inbox, but I want it to bring up a "new SMS".
The value data is currently set at: "\Windows\tmail.exe"
What is the file path I need to use so it will bring up a new SMS as opposed to my whole inbox?
Thanks so much to anyone who can help!
PS: I would appreciate "lamens terms", if possible - I'm not too tech savvy!
I've been trying all day to get it to go directly to a New SMS, but to no avail. All I can get it to do is go to my SMS inbox....
Any help??
If not, can I change the "delete" softkey that appears inside of the sms inbox to a "new" function??
I hate that I have to hit like 5 buttons to send a damn text message!!!
Please help!!!
"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to ""-body"

I'm doing this and its still taking me directly to my inbox... Any thoughts?
A gift for you...
Unzip and copy smssender.exe somewhere to your phone - program files folder is a good place. Assign a shortcut to it, and then assign one of your softkeys to the shortcut.
Voila... 1 tap to start sending an sms!

tmail.exe -service argument to launch E-mail Inbox ?

Hi,
I'm using the Resco Explorer new v8 Today plug-in. It allows the user to select any .lnk file under \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ as icons on the today screen.
I've created a .lnk file containing:
0#:MSINBOX -service "SMS"
.. which nicely jumps right in to the MS SMS app.
I want to create another .lnk file which will jump right in to the MS (pocket Outlook) Inbox, but I always end up at the Picker list.
What's the correct :MSINBOX -service "... string to get tmail.exe to jump right in to the pocket Outlook e-mail Inbox?
Thanks!
Jay
try:
\windows\tmail.exe -service "ActiveSync" -to ""
if you have named your email with another name, then replace ActiveSync accordingly.
Thanks so much Jolas!
I had guessed at Inbox, Outlook, tmail, and a variety of other "service" names. I simply never figured that it would be "ActiveSync"!
The actual link that I ended up using was simply
-service "ActiveSync"
(I didn't need to -to clause, as that launches the program in composer mode rather than in the Inbox).
Cheers,
Jay
What about
Take a look into my thread;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623195
Within it is the basics of making your own shortcuts and it is the basis of adding your own icon or *.icl icon library..
Now and then I'm still updating (editing) it. I'm looking into two *.icl files, where I need to find out if I can share 'm here (that is within the above link).
Here an extract;
Available parameters for tmail.exe (depending on the service used) are;
"tmail.exe" -new ""
"tmail.exe" -service "" (e.g. "MMS" or "ActiveSync" or "SMS")
"tmail.exe" -to ""
"tmail.exe" -subject ""
"tmail.exe" -Body ""
"tmail.exe" -attach ""
"tmail.exe" -open "inbox"
"tmail.exe" -sync or combinations of all such as-
ex.
"Windows\tmail.exe" -service "Yahoo!" -to ""
"Windows\tmail.exe" -service "GMail" -to ""
Direct SMS (I called it SMS2.lnk);
51#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to "" -body ""
Direct link to Games directory;
60#"\Windows\fexplore.exe" Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games
Know there's a lot more to know from this link
IMO this is a nice start libove
