I have the updated drivers so the computer can see the phone as a fastboot device, so in device manager it shows ADB interface and htc dream, but with the updated drivers the computer doesnt like to see the phone as a mass storage device so i can't access the sd card unless i uninstall the drivers. Does anyone else have this problem? is there any other way to access the memory card without installing the drivers? sometimes the computer will let me access the sd card, other times not.
try toggling usb debugging in your settings

So, i had a rooted mytouch with a custom rom.. Pretty familiar with the android OS. LOVING my nexus, except for this stupid problem. (its no my SD card btw, works fine in my girlfriends droid)
Anyways, i cannot mount my SD card when i am plugged in my computer... I am out of ideas. Anybody have the same problem?
what happens when you try to mount it? please provide more info!
i have the same problem, the only time where it'll let me mount my SD Card is when i put it in developers mode.
If I recall correctly from the user guide, you have to pull down the notification area on the phone and tell it to connect via USB. After this you should be able to mount the SD card. Again, if I recall right.
I wish i can tell you more but.. thats it.
You connect the phone via USB. Pull down the notification menu and there is NOTHING there. I cant try to mount it, i don't even have the option to mount it.
Should i record a video of it?
It should at least recognize that it is connected through USB, it does not. I put my SD card in another phone, hooked it up via usb, transfered all my stuff, then put the SD card back into my phone and EVERYTHING works, it reads it fine. I just cant mount my card from my notification menu. Its empty.
*edit* I have also installed the latest USB drivers from the SDK update, still cannot mount my SD card... I am starting to think the problem is deeper for some reason.
I think I'm having the same issue as the op. I downloaded the latest driver and the computer recognize my Nexus One, but oddly the drive the SD card is suppose to show up in is saying I have no SD card. Whenever I try to open up the F Drive(Nexus One SD card) it tells me to no media. Not sure if I'm explaining good enough.

are you connecting it directly into the computer? if not try doing so. If you are connecting it to the computer try a different USB port.
First i would like to thank you all for some interesting reading
i have just recieved my DHD and love it, my problem is that my sd card shows up just fine on the phone telling me i can unmount it and available space blah, blah, on the same screen when i connect it to the pc running windows 7 as soon as i select disk drive the sd card is un-mounted and then it is not visible in windows explorer also i have removed the sd card and placed it in my pc manualy and sits there looking for drivers
thanks in advance Mick
I assume you have selected "DISK DRIVE" from the drop down list that appears when you connect a USB cable? If so, this is most likely a Windows driver problem. So you might need the HTC drivers.
If you install HTC Sync (found on the card supplied with the phone) that should install the appropriate drivers. If it's not there, go to the HTC website and download latest HTC Sync version.
Can you try a USB stick or a standard card in the card reader of you PC and see if they work?
It could be a faulty SD card, I had problems with the one sent with my phone and had to replace it. All working ok now.
hi thanks for your reply i have done all of the above but still no joy, if the sd card was faulty i would assume it wouldnt work with the phone at all, the only thing i havnt tried is install the htc syn on my laptop to see if its a windows 7 issue or issue with my setup
otherwise i will have to wait and see what htc say about my issue
Cheers
Mick
Wait so let me get this right...
SD card in phone - Works
SD card in phone, hooked to computer using USB and selecting Disk Drive - Does not work (cannot see in Windows)
SD card directly in computer - Does not work...
Sounds like your issue is with Windows, not with HTC or your SD card...
Are you on a work computer by any chance? Can you plug normal USB flash drives in OK?
Either you're missing the Mass Storage driver or it's been disabled on your computer.
My phone well sd card not mouting to pc.. I know the card is good cuz I can put files on it from phone but when i plug to pc it dosent show up. I have drivers installed.. i had some past voodoo issues also but My phone did mount to pc before.
Did you re-enable debugging in the phone's settings\applications\development\ section?
I have two issues,
1. My evo doesn't recognize my sd card or any sd card that I insert in it. I've hard reset the phone and even reformatted the sd card on my macbook pro (fat32). I inserted the sd card with no files on it and when I took it out of the phone and mount it on my mac via the card reader I saw some Unix Executable Files that the phone put one the card, this is what the files name look like (qxdm_20101214_011430_1.dm).
2. when I connect the phone to my mac or pc, the computer doesn't recognize it so I can mount it as disk drive. usb debugging it on and there's no option for disk drive under default connection type. I've try new usb cable with no luck. I try doing the usb fix on this forum but with the two issues I'm having I can't do the adb for the sd card and the usb fix. any suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated. I want to root my phone
HTC EVO 4G 2.2
baseband 2.15.00.09.01
kernel 2.6.32.15
build 3.29.651.5
hboot 0.97.0000
anyone? i really need help
Were you able to solve this?
I've been having the same issue, I had root with SHIP-OFF, but somehow lost it, things got corrupted somewhere and I still haven't gotten things working right yet.
I used this fix to re-enable the SD card:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695243
Which then allowed me to load the stock rom from bootloader. I'm yet to find a USB fix though. Can't charge without powering off. Can't figure out how to root the phone without USB. Let me know if you found a solution. Thanks
i have got HTC HD2 with android v 2.2.1.. every time i transfer a file on the SD card via usb, the phone does not recognize the file. i tried doing the same in windows 6.5 and it works.
Secondly, every time my phone restarts, it boots windows 6.5 whereas i have android installed. how do i fix these issues???
It sounds like you are using a Service card Android build. When you reboot your HD2 from a SD card build it is suppose to boot back into Windows Mobile cause that is what is in the actual internal memory of the phone, which the internal memory is what the SOL of the bootloader is programmed to boot up. To have Android boot up from SD card on it's own house need to install a dual boot app, just Google "Dual Boot Apple for Windows Mobile" or go the the HD2 Windows Mobile themes and apparently forum and do a search there.
If I am not mistaken to have been your SD card work properly as a mass storage device when connected to a computer you have to have USB. Debugging on. To do this while in Android go to Settings>Applications>Development and check USB Debugging.
If you're using an SD build it's known that SD builds restart to WinMo, you shouldv'e read it somewhere by now.
Files transfered to the Card on android are not recognised unless you restart the phone or transfer them when you're on WinMo, also transferring the files to an SD android version using diskdrive mode means you're risking braking the build or corrupting your SD card, it can be fixed with either scanning your card for system file errors or formatting it in worst case scenario..
anyway, the safest way to transfer files to SD while plugging your SD android over the USB is by using the Dual Mount SD app, the speed is a bit decreased, but the device will recognize them when you unplug it.
